Modesto lte outage

Since yesterday around 6 pm both my iphone 5s are having major issues with the data side of verizon,. Lte usually is around 15 down and 5 up, since last night its less than 1/2 a meg down and .12 up. That is if i can even get it to run a speed test. Service is destroyed in modesto. My girlfriends phone is doing the same thing. Service says lte, then 3g, then 0 and sometime will just stay on 3g. Cant access internet web pages, imessage does not work. Verizon says there isn't a know outage. Something major is down cell tower wise. We have winds up to 30+ mph right now so something bad has happened.
PLEASE FIX IT!!!!!! VERY FRUSTRATING.

I was trying to get this crap website to allow me to re/re/re-register because apparently my phone number and now my account number cant be used here. I finally got to register to ask because I live in stockton ca and my data is completly dead since about 7pm last night. Still not working cant find any info online and not wanting to wait 45 min on the phone.

  • 4G LTE Outage Nationwide?

Can any of the reps for Verizon give us a time frame for when the 4G LTE Services will be made available again and why they are out in the first place? Thanks.

Just wanted to show what Verizon's response was when I asked what caused the recent outage:
"Unfortunately we do not disclose the specific reason as to what caused the outage. Our company engineers worked very hard to resolve the issue as soon as they could. As of late yesterday, Verizon Wireless 4G LTE service has returned to normal after company engineers were able to resolve the issue. Throughout the issue, 4G LTE customers were able to make voice calls and send and receive text messages. The 3G data network operated normally therefore you should have had a data connection."
"Our customers understand that there are things that are beyond our control that may cause an interruption of service. Although we received phone calls about the outage, they did not increase due to customers wanting to know what caused the outage."
First off I had NO data connection and I know a good many other Verizon customers had NO data connection also (no 4G, no 3G, and no 1X). As paying customers we should know what is causing the problem.

  • No data whatsoever in Macon, GA

For the second time this month, I have completely lost all data connectivity on my Droid Razr in Macon, GA.  I do not get 4G LTE down here, but right now I have nothing at all.  The last time I lost all data connectivity I just waited it out and let it resolve itself, but twice in the same month in an area that doesn't even have LTE is simply unacceptable.  This is not an LTE outage, it is a total data outage.  I have restarted, pulled the SIM card, switched from LTE/CDMA to CDMA only, etc.  Nothing has worked.  Anyone can look on these forums and find that many other owners of 4G phones have had the same issue, so I am sure that it's not just my phone.  Get on this Verizon, or you are losing this customer.

    Hello Winsor6,
I can understand not having any data connection being a bit frustrating.  I don't see any network opportunities at this time in Macon, GA.  Macon does not currently have LTE coverage, but you definitley should be receiving 3G data.  You attempted great troubleshooting steps and I would like to suggest another step to attempt.  Please try holding the volume down key and pressing the power key until the device resets. (Will not erase any data)  Once the device resets please observe your signal and advise if this was successful for you.  Thank you.

  • VZW 4G/3G technical issues

This could be old news but I am beginning to wonder if it is a network issue more than the device issue. Check these two links below
Also, my Bionic keeps loosing data connection when I in my home area (Chicago suburbs). Recently I went to Las Vegas on vacation for 10 days and I did not loose my data connection even once. Now I am back home and the data connection keeps loosing again few times a day though I noticed some improvement now. I did NOT get the OTA update yet and I have the original software on it, like it was on Sep 8th when I bought it.

Yes, I have noticed significant problems in my area also.
Toledo Ohio, and south east Michigan,  many data disconnects, SLOW speed 10-40 bps. No that's not a typo, did not forget the k in kbps. Three different towers in Toledo, 4 different towers in SE Mich. all same  slow speeds or data drops.  Both my Incredible, and my wife's, Incredible 2.  And before any techies say *228 did that multiple times, both option 1 and 2.  Factory reset phone twice, and even loaded cyanogen mod on the incredible, still slow.  Went to Ann Arbor on Saturday, 12/10/11, consistent 800-1300 kbps. So seems def. location based.  They just rolled out 4G  in this area, my guess is they provisioned a lot of the 3G data bandwidth to 4G.  Using both the speedtest and open signal app.

  • Right hand doesn't know what the left hand is doing.  ARG!

Yesterday... I lost 4G LTE access on my phone.  So, I call Technical Support asking what's going on.  By the way, they didn't have a clue what was going on and why 4G was on the fritz, 3G was working through.  I was just about to go to the Verizon Store to have my phone looked at when I stumbled upon a notice on another Android forum that stated that the Verizon 4G network was again on the fritz.  The article is located at http://stopthecap.com/2011/12/07/verizon-wireless-lte-outage-impacts-service-on-east-coast/.
    Also here... http://www.dslreports.com/forum/r26627655-VZW-LTE-data-outage-in-NYC-metro-area
OK, if this sounds like a rant, then you'd be right!  Because it is!
How hard is it to put a message somewhere on the main company message boards, send an email, send a notice... something?  Anything!  To let everyone in the company know what is going on.  You are doing a great disservice to your customers in not telling your representatives both on the phone and in the stores that something is wrong with the network.  You are sending people scrambling for a fix for their phones when in reality the network is broken again.
Seriously... the right hand doesn't know what the left hand is doing!

I agree, a simple text sent or a post on here would be nice!

  • San Francisco  - LTE Network Outage

Once again LTE is either non existent or not even working in my location in San Francisco. I live  near GG park  94117  (Cole / Page/ Waller/ Haight area and all day  (sat. sept 28th), I've  haven't been receiving any data and keep receiving "Network Communication issues".  The 4G network in SF has been suffering for months.  There's been multiple posts about this issue.  I've performed multiple speed tests using 2 different devices in different parts of the city  and get the same results. Can't even call support from the phone since the web-app pop ups when calling a verizon number and freezes since there's no data connection.   Terrible.  Why am I paying a premium for Verizon?

  • Does Verizon Know How to Support 4G LTE ?

    Hello everyone,
Let me start off by saying that prior to Christmas 2011 I had never had any problems with my 4G service other than the nationwide outages that Verizon owned up to.
That being said, since 12/25/2011 my service has been a nightmare. I have called Verizon non-support every day in an attempt to reach some sort of resolution as to why I am unable to obtain any service other than 1x. This is in what was otherwise always very solid 4G areas.
I explained to support how I have a 4G aircard provided by my work, and my roommate has the same phone (Thunderbolt), each of which has had solid 4G service. However, my phone will not obtain a 4G connection, nor 3G, simply only 1x.
Verizon's attempt at supporting this issue was to throw hardware at the problem. I did not have 1 or 2 replacement phones, but 3, along with SIM cards! None of which has resolved the issue. My roommate continues to enjoy his 4G service, and my aircard continues to work on 4G, however if I turn off WiFi on the phone, 1x I go.
Fast forward to yesterday 1/7/2012, problem still occurring and Verizon calls me with a resolution. Oh the joy, finally something to ease my pain from the slowness of 1x.
What was this resolution you may ask? Not that they have found out what the problem is, oh no, that would be what I would want as a customer. Instead, they tell me to put my phone into CDMA only mode so that it will lock into 3G.
First off, this is no resolution. This is more a very pathetic move on Verizon's part in my opinion. If I wanted 3g, or 1x with an unlimited plan I would switch to Sprint for a much cheaper price. (This I would have already done if it were not for this pesky contract).
Second, this "resolution" did not even work. And non-support has no answer as to why it will not place me onto 3G even when attempting to 'force' it.
No matter what city I travel to that is listed as 4G serviceable, I am stuck on 1x. The few times I have seen 4G come up on the phone it will go out as quickly as it came in.
Example.. 4G shows up on notification bar, attempt to open browser, you can see the up arrow sending data, but never receives anything. Eventually 4G goes away, no data signal shows at all, then 1x comes up. When 1x is showing, pages are able to be viewed, however 1x makes me want to poke my eyeballs out.
Sorry for the rant, I am just beyond disbelief with this company at the moment. 1 or 2 day outage I can understand, but this is getting ridiculous. Especially considering receiving an answer from Verizon at this point seems like a miracle in itself.
Anyways, I hope you were able to follow along in this mess. And hopefully if you are in the same boat as me, you can feel some comfort in knowing that you are not alone. Verizon is certainly bending me over as well at the moment.
    - A very dissatisfied customer in Atlanta, GA

This is the same thing when all the major carriers tried to switch to 3G at break neck speeds.  How quickly it is forgotten.  Before you say Sprint whatever carrier doesn't have problems...
AT&T and T-Mobile uses 3G and claim it is 4G.  HSPA+ will never hit the 100mbps mark.  This is why AT&T is rolling out LTE as it is close to true 4G(100mpbs).  It can be upgraded to LTE Advanced(100mbps).  T-Mobile is at a crossroads as they don't have enough funds to move to straight 4G.
Sprint Wimax is somewhat true 4G as it can be upgraded to Wimax+.  Sprint isn't doing it on their own.  They are using Clearwire which has already been established and piggybacking off their network.  If you ever had Clear when they first started out...  You probably wouldn't  be happy if you really need 4G.
The problem isn't really the network.  The fallback is with the authentication schemes being different is causing trouble with current 4G devices.  There is various write ups saying why it is happening and not from Verizon, though Verizon has said after they fix the problem what the problem was.
At some point it will get better when Verizon can get everyone off the 3G network onto the 4G network and they use one scheme.  This is the reason why they are pushing 4G devices very hard.  That would alleviate 2/3 of the problem, and the rest will be network stability.
Welcome to new technology and being an early adopter.

  • Verizon Ipad Dropping LTE Signal

    Dear Community,
For about 1 month now, my ipad (Verizon 32gb Wi-Fi +Lte) which is running IOS 5.1.1 has been dropping the 4g lte signal at an increasing rapid place in the NYC/ Long Island Area. While i would normally attribute this to Verizon's coverage, the fact is that i am operating in the same area i have been since i purchased the ipad on march 16th. Previously, the ipad held the signal flawlessly and with at least 4 bars.
Now it will show 4 bars and then all of the sudden go to "cannot connect to Network"
I have removed and put back in the sim card and I have also reset my network connections but none of this has seem to have had an effect.
Does anyone else suffer from this issue and know a workaround or at least have a suggestion as to whether or not to visit apple or verizon?
    Thanks
    Andy

I am having this same issue with my Verizon LTE iPad. I am in the NYC area near Grand Central. I will have full service, and then I will randomly lose service. My connection does come after a few second, however the brief outage impacts music/video streaming, etc.

  • Slow LTE speeds in the LA and greater LA area?

Hi guys.  So I live in South Pasadena, CA, and for the past week or so I've noticed that the LTE speed on my phone has slowed than tremendously.  Whereas before I would have no problem downloading apps, watching Youtube videos, streaming music on Pandora and Rhapsody, now I can barely get these services.  At times, videos load, and at other times, they don't load at all.  Or, I'm in the middle of watching a video and/or listening to a song, and it stops.  I've tried turning the phone off and on, taking out the SIM card and putting it back, wiping the phone completely, making sure that it is set to "LTE mode," and this has not done the trick.  Oh, and I have an iPhone 5s, 32GB.  I'm updated to IOS 7.1.2.  I have even tried driving around to other areas, like Orange County, and my phone still has this problem.  When I connect my phone to WiFi, no problem.  But when I switch back to Verizon's network, I get the problem mentioned.  I was wondering if anyone on here who lives in LA, or the greater LA area, has noticed this.  I took my phone to the Apple store today, and the guy brought out another iPhone 5s, and the network was slow on this phone as well.  When he showed me his iPhone 5s (he had ATT as his carrier, however), no problem.  So I don't know if anyone has reported this, or if it is just my phone.  I called Verizon customer service two nights ago, and the rep told me that there were no outages, and that no one else has complained of this.  So I would like to know if there is anyone out there who is also experiencing this problem with their LTE speeds.  Any help would be appreciated.  Thanks!

This is happening to me too.  About two weeks ago LTE just dropped off.  Here's the results of my speed tests this week:
    Mon 8/18 - 0.46 Down, 5.89 Up (culver city)
    Mon 8/18 - 0.15 Down, 1.24 Up (LAX)
    Tue 8/19 - 0.18 Down, 6.75 Up (culver city)
    Tue 8/19 - 0.32 Down, 7.25 Up (LAX)
    Wed 8/20 - 1.2 Down, 8.76 Up (culver city)
    Wed 8/20 - 0.54 Down, 4.87 Up (LAX)
    Thu 8/21 - 0.37 Down, 7.27 Up (culver city)
I'm so glad I found this thread because customer service immediately thinks its my phone.  They told me to clear my browser history, what the hell??  Where can I go to get a serious answer?
I have an iPhone5 running iOS 6.1.4.  My wife is on an iPhone5s running iOS 7.1.2 and she is experiencing the same issues.

Is anyone else in the DC area experiencing a data outage?

i just got off the phone with verizon and the entire lte network is down.  they have no time frame, but folks just remember its the nations most reliable network....lmao

  • VZW LTE has been down in part of NC, SC, and TN

Verizon support tells me that LTE has been down at 24 cell sites, affecting parts of NC, SC and TN. They gave me a 2 day ($5) credit which will pay for half a GB overage on my AT&T broadband (which I'm having to use for this post).
Sounds like '3G' may be affected as well,

Support told me yesterday am that the outage ticket that they had added me to was closed Sat night. However, I've gone from 'no service' (as reported by VZAM) to periods of bouncing signal strength and "searching 4G LTE service" where the coneection is made but unusable. They gave me my own ticket yesterday. Still having to use my wife's AT&T HSPA+ - Cha Ching!

  • ICloud 30+ hour outage- try failover not FAIL

Apple support just told me they hope "by the WEEKEND" to get iCloud mail back up and running? I think they better call SunGuard and restore from back up! In the amount of time This outage has gone on Tulane payroll was already restored from Hurricane Katrina!
Dear Apple forget your new iPhone spend the development money on back up/restore and support! Oh and word of advice don't back up to "the cloud" environment because that is a FAIL for your company!

That's not the type of impression we want to make with our 4G LTE service dianefrommd! Where are you located? Are you experiencing any difficulties with other 4G devices in that area? Are there any others in the area with the same equipment experiencing similar difficulties? I'm pleased to hear that a resolution ticket was opened. What were the results? What was the indication given as to why the ticket was closed? We appreciate you reaching out to us via a different support platform. Please be aware that we have the same options for troubleshooting here as we do with our other support channels.

  • Verizon Wireless Outages in the DFW area following Electrical Storm

Verizon Wireless, the so-called "Big Red" cellular provider, seems to be picking up its own red phone lately.
Verizon Wireless customers around the DFW area are reporting widespread outages of the company's newer, faster 4G wireless service, as well as spotty performance of the older 3G service.
Complaints about both the 3G and 4G networks flooded in Thursday from all over the DFW Metroplex according to the store employee at the local Verizon store.
“I sat up at the Verizon store this morning before the store opened @ 9:35am with no on in the parking lot and by 10:00am the entire parking lot was full with angry Verizon Wireless customers.” All were saying they haven’t had service since they woke up this morning. It was a scene of when a store has a big sale or major event…
    “I noticed the outages started around 9:00-9:30pm last night, 5/30/2012.” – kd5yov
Instead of staying around to see what’s going on, I left and figured out that I would come back on in a day or so... Can’t fix it if its broken and right now Verizon is stuck with its tail between their legs!

You are not the only one Neo. I consistantly get slow 4g LTE speeds in the DFW metroplex. Over the last month I've run several speed tests and come back with less than 2Mbps download. During the 12 o'clock lunch hour I have to switch to 3G just to get any data at all. I thought it might be my phone (Samsung Galaxy Nexus) so I did a factory reset a while back which didn't help anything. Then I spoke with support on the phone who suggested I get a new SIM card at the local store. I did that, and it helped some. My speeds went up by changing the SIM card from less than 1Mbps to the less than 2Mbps I'm now recording. What I found interesting was that the rep at the store said that it would probably only get faster during non-peak hours. The reason speeds are so low on 4G LTE is because there are too many people using it for the infrastructure that is currently in place. That statement along with my continued dissatisfaction with the speeds I'm getting are making the competition look good. For any good it will do, I am mostly in zip codes 75248 and 75001.
