Modification Adjustments (SPAU & SPDD)

Dear all,
We are going for ecc6.0 upgrade from 4.7c.
While doing modification adjustments in SPAU & SPDD we thought of doing RESET TO ORIGINAL to all objects.
Customer enhanced more than 20 standard programs. They want their older enhancements as well as new version.
How to approach this situation?
If we give RESET TO ORIGINAL whether the older enhancements will come automatically?
Expecting clear answer please.
Kind Regards.

Hi ,
You should go for Adopt Modifications for Customer enhanced programs or else the Customer enhancements will not get reflected in ECC 6.0.
If you give RESET TO ORIGINAL the older enhancements will not come automatically instead the ECC 6.0 functionality will be there. You have to go for Adopt Modification. If the traffic signal is Green in SPAU and you click on adopt  modification the Customer changes will be automatically adjusted. If the traffic signal is Yellow Customer changes will be partially reflected and the remaining one's we have to do manually. If the traffic signal is Red we have to Adopt Modifications manually(i.e we have to compare both versions and copy paste the custom code)
Thanks,
Jay....

  • SPAU / SPDD Adjustment Problem

Hi to all and thanks in advance for reading my question.
I need to edit a program, but, when I try to, I get the message "EU 526" that instructs me that the object I'm trying to edit was already changed or enhanced and that this object has a new version imported to the system with a Release upgrade, and this new version was not reconcilied with the new version.
Ideed we have applied a support package and we are correcting a problem that were found in a standard, following a information sent to us from SAP.
Then, I go to SPAU to run the modification adjustment, but the object <b>isn't at the list of the SPAU objects</b>.
What I need to do in this situation? How can I solve this problem?
    Thanks again,
    Umberto

    Hi
    see the doc
What objects will come in SPAU and SPDD?
All the objects which are modified, after tansporting to the current system,
will be listed in SPAU and SPDD. SPDD contains the list of all modified Data Dictionary objects, like tables, dataelements, domains,view...etc. The rest of all the modified repository objects will be listed in SPAU.
What happens to the modifications done in the older version when we upgrade the version? (with Modification assistant and w/o)
After the initial upgrade happens, we have to do adjustments from SPAU/SPDD to maintain or reset the changes. That is, from the list of objects in SPAU/SPDD, you have to either carry forward the changes to the new version, by choosing the option ADOPT CHANGES (available on right click) or RESET TO ORIGINAL (available on right click).
Will they come in these transactions?
Ans: yes, they will be listed in these transactions, after the BASIS updgrade activity.
And what if we apply some patches(Notes) to the system? What is the impact of these patches to the SPAU transaction?
Ans: Patches will be supported by the version upgrade. In case of notes, we have to verify whether these notes are supported by the new version (you can go into http://www.service.sap.com/notes to verify this. Also, we have to analyze whther the code in the note is already incorporated in the new version. In this case you can ignore the chanes choosing RESET TO ORIGINAL option

  • ERROR -- Upgrade interrumped by modification adjustments

    Hi Experts,
I´m upgrading 6.00 to EHP4 and it stops and gives the message " interrumped by modification adjustments"
I understand that I have to go to tx SPAU and made the modifications but I dont know how to do this and then how to check to continue.
    Regards.

    Hi Jorge,
You can do the SPAU after finishing the upgrade as well. You have to take help of your ABAP colleagues to do SPAU.
Also, please make sure that if it is your DEV system and you want to use this SPAU transport in your subsequent system i.e. QA and PRD then choose exit option on EHPI screen and do the SPAU and mark this transport to use in subsequent system. Don't release the transport, EHPI tool will release transport itself and add it in umodauto.lst list. so that in QA and PRD you don't have to SPAU again manually. After SPAU finished run EHPI tool again and select Adjustment completed. And continue.
Also, read text on EHPI screen of this phase.
    Thanks

  • Query regarding SPAU & SPDD

    Hi All,
Is there a possible way to download the SPAU & SPDD list to local system.
I tried to search the forum but didn't find anything relevant.
    Thanks in advance,
    Amit

Maybe I'm late here, but I'm trying to do something similar. The objects displayed in SPAU are retrieved from table SMODILOG; I believe you can write a program to extract the contents from that table and then traverse to the E70* tables to get the related transport information.
SPAU itself uses function group SEMM, but annoyingly applies the tree display which doesn't lend itself to easy and consistent downloading of the resulting data, for example into excel.

  • Error in SPAU/SPDD

    Hi guys,
Upon running SPAU/SPDD in client 000, after creating a request for the adjustment, an error occured:
    "Cannot access file /usr/sap/trans_IW/tmp/user.LOS"
where USER = user id used when logging
The diagnosis of this error is:
access to file .... is not permitted.
The operating system registered the following errors:
Is this an authorization or config issue?
    Thanks!

    Hi,
Looking at the problem description it seems to be an Auth Issue. Inform Basis about the same and in case you are not able to find any clue best way is to take SAP help using OSS message.
In upgrade any time you get stuck and are not sure where to go it is always good to have a word with SAP to make sure that approach we are following is correct.
Hope this would be of some help!!

  • Implications of applying support packages(SPAU SPDD)

    Hi
I am going to apply patches to my development system in which it is showing that certain repository and dictionary objects will be modified.
Please tell me whether it is possible to keep the old version of the object as well as the new version?
If I keep the old version during patch application is it possible to go to the new version after applying the patches and vice versa if I keep the new version?
Is it that the SAP system keeps the old versions as well as the new version in the system no matter what option I choose saved in the database?
    Kindly treat this as urgent.
    Regards
    Raghu

When you apply patches the purpose of SPAU/SPDD is to allow you to choose what to do with modified objects. You can revert back to SAP standard ie you over write your changes and accept SAP version of the program or table applied via the patch. Or you can keep your version of the program or table.
Changes are version's so you can compare on screen the 'was' and 'is'. Version history allows you to recall any version as needed/wanted.
Testing will be required in either case to ensure SAP works correctly.

  • SPAU / SPDD Transport During Upgrade from 4.6C to ECC 6.0

We are currently upgrading R/3 4.6C to ECC 6.0 SR2. During the DEV upgrade, we performed Dictionary Objects adjustments before ACT 7.00 and SPAU adjustments at the end of the upgrade. All the adjustments are collected in a transport.
I read in another thread that we will have to choose 'SELECT FOR TRANSPORT' button in SPAU and not release it. Then, continue with the upgrade. And in the same thread, it is also mentioned that DDIC object modifications should not be handled through transports.
Now, my question is, if I have collected the SPAU adjustments in a transport and continued with the upgrade without choosing the 'SELECT FOR TRANSPORT' button, can I do it after I complete the upgrade before I continue with QAS upgrade? Will the upgrade still automatically detect the transports and move them? And, my other question is, if DDIC modifications are not supposed to be dealt through transports, how else should they be worked upon?
Your response ASAP will be rewarded properly.
    Thank you.

Nick, thank you for the reference. Even though I had gone through this note before, I couldn't apply this note because, this note was refering to "R3up" which, I guess, is no more used. "SAPup" is the program currently in use. Also the location mentioned in the note to execute "R3up" is "//usr/sap/put/exe" but, "SAPup" is located under "//usr/sap/put/bin/". So, I am not sure if there is any new notes refering to this. One other question I have with regards to this note is, one of the arguments for the command R3up is, "REL". For SPDD, the note suggests to use target release. And for SPAU, the note suggest to use the release mentioned in the DDIC activation phase.
In my case, I am upgrading from 4.6D (kernel) to 700 (kernel). The DDIC activation shows ACT_700. So, I am sure I would use "700" as value for "REL" for SPDD. But, am I supposed to use "46D" for SPAU? or should I use "700"?
    Thank you.

  • SPAU - SPDD

    Hi Experts,
I'm in the middle of an upgrade from ECC 5.0 to ECC 6.0 SR2, and I have some doubts regarding SPAU and SPDD transactions, I have already read the guides but I can find the answer that clear for this: Should I run it before the UPGRADE or is it only AFTER the upgrade is complete ??? Is there any note that answers that so its official I dont have to run it but after the upgrade is complete?

    Hi,
Transaction SPDD allows you to adjust modifications to ABAP Dictionary objects during an upgrade.
Transaction SPAU allows you to adjust programs, function modules, screens, interfaces, documentation, and text elements after an upgrade.
During SAPUp, a phase comes in ACT_700 which suggests that you must now include your repository modifications in the new SAP import.
It will tell the number of modified objects found to be adjusted and how many have been adjusted automatically.
Then it will ask if you want to make adjustments to ABAP dictionary Objects?
    Do not continue.
    Adjust your repostory.
Please proceed as follows - Logon to the shadow instance as user DDIC in client 000.Server: 64r3dev  Instance: 01.- Set the System Change option with transaction SE06.- Create users for modification adjustment by copying user DDIC with transaction SU01.- Logon to the shadow instance as ordinary user and make adjustments with transaction SPDD.
After adjustments, continue with the upgrade.
During SPAUINFO phase, you will get following message.
Besides the adjustments in transaction SPAU your upgrade is completed now and productive operation is possible. All SPAU activities can be performed without SSCR for a period of 14 days after you first entered this phase.Do  n o t  continue with SAPup if you plan to use the result of the adjustments for any subsequent SAP system.
Exit now and restart SAPup, after SPAU has been finished.
This is all about the SPDD and SPAU.

  • Modification adjustments during Preprocessing phase in ECC6.0 EHP4 upgrade

    Hello All,
We are upgrading our SAP systems from R3 4.7 to ECC 6.0 EHP4 and we are currently in the PreProcessing phase. The upgrade screen has prompted the below message
*You must now include your repository modifications
    in the new SAP import.
35 modified objects are found to be adjusted and
0 objects are automatically maintained by import
of an adjustment transport bound to this procedure.
CAUTION: It is impossible to keep these modifications
after you have confirmed this query.
Do you want to make adjustments to ABAP dictionary
    objects ?*
    I had a few queries
    1. Can we carry out the modification adjustment now in the SPDD transaction or did we have to complete it in the Configuration Phase?
    2. When we login to the Shadow Instance we are unable to see any of our custom Z progams and transactions in SE38 and SE93 respectively. Is this an issue or will they be available only after the upgrade?
    3. If we create the adjustments to Dictionary objects how do we flag the request for transport in SPDD transaction?
Appreciate any help in understanding the above queries and solution to proceed.
    Thanks

    Hi,
    > 1. Can we carry out the modification adjustment now in the SPDD transaction or did we have to complete it in the Configuration Phase?
You have to perform SPDD now.
    > 2. When we login to the Shadow Instance we are unable to see any of our custom Z progams and transactions in SE38 and >SE93 respectively. Is this an issue or will they be available only after the upgrade?
SPDD is not for your Z programs. SPDD is for if you have done changed in SAP standard objects. SPDD will show changes that you have done standard object.
    > 3. If we create the adjustments to Dictionary objects how do we flag the request for transport in SPDD transaction?
    >
Go to SPDD transaction and changes accordingly and add to transport request there. For more information Check SAP note 485741.

  • SPAU SPDD Transport Strategy for following Upgrades

    Hello All,
We are doing CUUC from 4.7 NUC to ECC 6 Ehp4 UC
After completing our Upgrade from 4.7 NUC to ECC 6 NUC in the original host, I stopped the Upgrade tool at the point when it asks for SPAU adjustements in Post Processing Step, did the Unicode Conversion in which we built the Target ECC 6 UC System in a separate host (host: ecctemp).
    So,
    1. The Upgrade Directory and ECC 6 NUC System resides on the first host.2. The Second host(ecctemp) contains only the ECC 6 UC System.
    3. We started our SPAU activities in the ECC 6 UC System after CUUC process completed.
    4. Now, with SPDD & SPAU activities getting completed. I want the 2 Transports to be used for rest of the Upgrades.
How do I go about this?
    1. I cannot run 'SELECT FOR TRANSPORT' or run the commands as per 68678 in the ECC 6 NUC System as thats where I didnot do SPAU.
    2. I cannot even run the commands as per 68678 in the host ecctemp, becuase there is no upgrade directory here.

    Hi,
You can add SPDD transport on your non-unicode system in umodauto.lst file and take this file to your quality system (also data file and cofile). So, when you will start upgrade on your quality system then upgrade tool will first read this umodauto.lst file and it will prompt you on the screen to has this transport as SPDD transport. And upgrade tool will then import this SPDD request.
For SAPU, you can simply move data file and cofile from your final system to quality system. And once your quality system will be ready after upgrade and UC conversion then you can simple import this transport from STMS. This will solve your issue.
    Thanks

  • SPAU/SPDD doesnt allow manual changes

    Hello Experts,
My customer has a problem during the implementation of a note. whenever he tries to change a view of a webdynpro component he gets an error message
"Carry out modification comparison for WDYC POWL_UI_COMP MASTER_CONTENT first. No changes possible". He is getting this since 10 days now..
Anyone knows the reason for this and how this can be overcomed.
    Thanks,
    JVR

    Hello Kiran,
i checked for the locked notes and unfortunately found none. when i checked the version mgmt of the object, it seems that they have implemented a SP sometime back(21-03-07).
In your previous message, u have mentioned about 'resett to original' option. if i understand it correctly, this
can be used if the customer wants to revert back to the previous version. Is there any option to 'set as original' so as to make the current changes in the system as original and enable him to carry out the changes ?
If yes, where can i find that option as i see no note number in version management and it seems that he has upgraded to next SP.
thanks a lot for ur inputs.

  • UPGRADE - OSS NOTE MODIFIED PROGRAMS

    Hi all,
we are on verge of upgradtion form 4.6c to ECC 6.00
we have a lot of programs where we have applied oss notes.
Do i need to apply the oss notes in the new version ECC 6.00 too.
How can i know whether SAP has provided the same note modifications in new version i.e ECC 6.00
IN THAT CASE I DON'T HAVE TO APPLY OSS NOTE AGAIN.
Where does  SPAU AND SPDD COME IN TO PICTURE
let me know if iam wrong
    THANKS
    SWATHI

    hi Swathi,
A typical SAP version version upgrade has two phases:
1 - technical upgrade (installing the new version of SAP and migrating all the current objects to the new system)
    2- adjusting the modifications.
SPAU/SPDD comes in the second phase.
Once we install the new version and migrate all the active objects into the new version, you can see the list of modified objects (including OSS note applications) in SPAU and SPDD.
SPDD contains all the data dictionary objects and SPAU the rest.
You need to drill down from SPAU and do a versin comparison with the active version in the existing system (the system with SAP's older version). If you come across changes with OSS notes,
firstly, you need to check in <b>service.sap.com/notes</b> the releases it supports. If it does not support the latest version, you will need to find a replacement note for this and implement the same. Else, if it is supported in the new release, you need to carry forward the changes in previous version to the new version. For this you need only to right click on the object in SPAU and select "adopt changes".
    Hope this helps,
    Sajan Joseph.

  • Help required in running SPAU and SPDD transactions for post upgrade

    Hi All,
We are doing a system upgrade to EHP1.
We need help in SPAU and SPDD runs and why are they required in upgrade activity.
    Kindly respond.
    Thanks in advance
    Regards
    Rashmi

    Hi Rashmi,
SPDD and SPAU are modification adjustments that you need to adjust after upgrade. This is a situation where the upgrade has to enhance some structures and elements that was available in previous version (probably 3.x). The system can not determine whether to overwrite the structures or to retain the old version. If the structures are custom structures, the system might overwrite any enhancements that you have done. In this kind of situations, the system puts any such structures and elements that it can not make a decision into these 2 lists. SPDD is for dictionary objects and SPAU is for configurations. You have to fix all the issues that are produced in these transactions. You need to first fix the ones in SPDD list and then the SPAU list. Once you drill down in those lists, it asks you to take actions like "change it", "keep the old version" or "ignore the changes" (I think these are the options). You need to chosse these options based on your analysis and turn all the yellow and red ones into green. Hope this gives you some idea.
    Thanks and Regards

If you have applied any OSS notes to objects in your system, the hot package may overwrite these objects.
SPDD is used to identify dictionary objects
    and
SPAU (repository objects), will identify any objects where the hot package is overwriting changes you have made through OSS notes.
You must check all objects identified in SPAU and decide whether you need to reapply the OSS note or reset the code to the original SAP Code.
Also once the changes have been done you would see a green traffic light.
If you double click on the modified object it will show you a split window where on the left you will have the original version and on right the modified version. So you can choose which to keep and which to reject. You may keep the modified version incases where you know that the notes will only be pakages in the next version.
