Modification to pdf files not saved in the original document

The modification to pdf files are not saved in the original documents (e.g. in My Documents) but a new file is created in Download\Adobe Reader and for every saving I do a new file (e.g.  -1, -2, ..) is created. Is that normal? If yes, it is really annoying.
Adobe reader 10.6.1
Android 4.1.2
Thanks

No, it is not a read only file and I can modify it. The problem is that the modifications are not saved with the same name in the original (e.g. in My Documents) folkder but in a different one (Download\Adobe Reader) and for every saving I do a new file (e.g.  -1, -2, ..) is created.

What do I need to do to bring the graphics and exhibits from the PDF file to the Word file?

    Hi jackp52432917,
How was that PDF file created? Please see  Will Adobe ExportPDF convert both text and form... | Adobe Community
It could be that the PDF file you're converting was created using a third-party application, and it doesn't contain all the information necessary to ensure a clean conversion. Have you had similar troubles converting other PDF files?

Documents I forward are not received under the original document name. How do I solve this?

If you're referring to the name of the attatchment showing when viewing the entire email, that's there's no way to change how it's done.  The title and body of the actual document is unchanged after it's opened.
Does this naming of the attachment really confuse the recipient?  If so, put something in the body of the email to make it clear what's attached.

  • PDF files not saving/missing and leaving "aa12345" and "aaa12345" files??? - Solution

risscand: I have workers that are unable to save and they are seeing an "aaa04916" type file in their working folder. This is causing us to lose work (because we are unable to save over the original file) or send out incomplete documents.
Mudassir: As I understand when you try to edit and save a document, it directly opens "Save As", is that correct?
risscand: No. When the user saves normally. Ctrl+S or the "Save" icon via the disk at the top of the page it appears to save however the PDF does not actually rewrite
risscand: This results in an aaa12345 file in the folder, but an unchanged PDF.
    Mudassir: Okay.
Mudassir: Thank you for the information.
Mudassir: I will be glad to help you with this issue.
    risscand: Excellent
Mudassir: May I know if you are chatting from the issue facing computer?
risscand: I am not currently experiencing the issue but many of the employees in this office are.
risscand: I can review the issue and see the files however, our worked is based off of a server.
    Mudassir: Okay.
Mudassir: Marissa, this error often occurs due to a confict with Acrobat application and Windows Preview.
Mudassir: In order to resolve the issue, you need to disable the Windows Preview in the Windows Explorer
Mudassir: Follow the steps below to fix:
Mudassir: Go to “Computer” or a windows explorer window, click on the “View” tab and then make sure the “Preview pane” is unselected. Then try saving your PDF document again.
risscand: This option was not used by the users
risscand:: I just asked one of the individuals who was experiencing the issue and she has never used that option.
    Mudassir: Just a minute.
    risscand: Thanks
Mudassir: Thank you for your patience.
Mudassir: Are all the users using Acrobat or Adobe Reader to save the PDF files?
    risscand: Acrobat
Mudassir: Is that PDF file saved on network?
    risscand: Yes
Mudassir: Does that users have the complete access to the network drive and are all the users use that PDF at a time?
risscand: The PDF's are used one at a time. The individual who combines the reports that the workers probably does not have complete access to the network.
Mudassir: To re-write the PDF which is saved on network, the users need to have complete access. If not, they will get the save as option and they can save that PDF file on their local drive
Here are the options I got from Customer Service - Hopefully it will help some of you!

  • Pdf file not saving imputed information

i am trying to save a pdf file that i have filled out, but when i save it and go back to look at it, the text information i have filled out is blank. how do i save my text? i am filling out an applictaion.

is there anything to do about that???
Yes, but depending on what it is, it might be reasonably inexpensive, or hundreds of dollars.
why doesnt it just save like a normal file?
Because it's not a normal file. If you're filling out a PDF with Acrobat Reader, it cannot save form fields, by design. If you open and fill it out using Preview, you should be able to Save or Export your changes to a new PDF. PDFs are designed to make documents that cannot be edited, as well as forms that can be edited for specific purposes (the IRS comes to mind). While any Mac or PeeCee user can create a PDF with a variety of third-party solutions, a user must get the professional version of Adobe Acrobat to be able to alter and save their changes to a PDF as well as a slew of other features.

  • Pdf files not listed in the preferences/application list, pdf won't load

I am using Mountain Lion and have Adobe reader 10.1.4 installed. When I click on a site to download a pdf file, I get a blank screen and no download (worked fine before mountain lion) I went to the preferences/applications screen and pdf isn't listed in the app list. How can I get to appear there so that I can assign an action to use reader to open it.

I disabled Acrobat as you suggested and it immediately corrected the problem. Then I changed from preview to Reader in the open with dialogue.

  • Annotated PDF file not saved, + "System Error"

A few issues with the newly updated Adobe Reader app for the iPad (April 10, 2012):
1- I can mark-up a PDF with the annotation tools (pen, highlighting, underlining, etc) and then hit SAVE.  When I then re-open the PDF, I do not see my comments/mark-ups,
2- From within the Adobe Reader app -- when I try the "open-in" (to another application), I receive a pop-up message:  "A system error was encountered."

    Luis,
I think the problem you describe is different. For SGFilipe1022, the issue is that while in Reader, the annotations are not visible after closing and opening the document within Adobe Reader. However, in your case I suspect that what you are seeing is that not all PDF Readers support the viewing of comments and markups. In particular, the previewer in Apple's Mail program for iOS does not render comments. Similarly, most PDF Readers on iOS use the device's built-in rendering to show PDFs. This also does not support viewing of annotations.
Can you please tell me where you are viewing the PDF after editing it in Reader? This will help me confirm (or disprove) my suspicion.
    Thanks!

  • Payment media file not saved on the local PC in FBPM

    Dear all,
In transaction FBPM, if I choose the option ouput to the file system and point out the path to the folder where the file to be generated on my local PC, by the running of the transaction I am getting the following error:
BFIBL02182 - The file XXXXXXXXX cannot be opened.
If I want to download the payment media file I have to download it manualy.
I don't have some access limitation on my computer.
For this error I found the following explanation in teh forums: The error message BFIBL02182 normally is showing because the directory that was used when starting the payment media program (for example, in background processing), cannot be read online. You should therefore choose a directory that can be written to and read by different machines.
    Acctually I don't understand this.
I would like the system to download the file automatically by the running of the transaction.
Please could help, what I have to do, ? How to check if the chosen by me dirictory is possible to be read online?
Thanks in advance for the help?

    Hi,
Please validate the Payment medium: Selection Variant in T-Code: OBPM4 and then search the variant in T-Code FBPM, for the relevant Payment Medium Format, type the File Name something like this: C:\Documents and Settings\My Documents\Payment
    Save
After the payment run is completed. You need to go to Menu in F110 screen and select Environment-> Payment Media->DME Administration, select the line and click Export button and select Download.
This is the only way you can download when the presentaion server is used.
    Hope this helps....
    Thanks,

  • Why is my "Combined PDF" file size smaller than the original files?

    Hello!
I am trying to combine two individual PDF files into a single PDF. Each file is 32mb, however when I use acrobat to combine them, the newly created "combined" file is only 19mb. I believe I've taken the necessary steps to ensure no degradation is happening (i.e. selecting Large File Size in the options panel), but I am still puzzled as to how two files can be put together as one and be smaller than the two separate files with out any compression. What am I missing?
    Thanks in advance!

When you combine a file it does a "Save As" operation.  This re-writes all of the PDF object in the single file and is supposed to clean up the file, whereas the single files may have had multiple saves which when you look at the internals of the PDF file simply add on to the end of the file.  In other words you get a more cleanly written and optimized file that is also saved for Fast Web View.

    pleaaaaaaaaase help me!!!!!

    Have you Opened FireFox
Gone  to Firefox menu > Preferences  > Helper Applications
Next scroll through list and choose Acrobat X or Reader X. Or if you have neither choose Apple's Preview Or download PDF Browser Plugin by Schubert of Germany In stall in The main Library (click on hardrive Icon look for Library), insert plugin in Internet Plugins.
Caution: If you use Preview on PDF Forms and do anything to any forms it will mangle the forms and make useless.
Note: IF you use the Schubert PdfBrowser Plugin it does not do Forms. Schubert is leaglly banned from adding Forms support by Adobe.
Finally try repair permissions.  (Disk Utilities)

  • When I attempt to open a PDF file I saved from a website, I get the message "There was an error opening this document. The file is damaged and could not be repaired." Is there any way to correct this problem?

When I attempt to open a PDF file I saved from a website using Safari, I get the message "There was an error opening this document. The file is damaged and could not be repaired." When I save the same PDF file using FireFox it opens up immediately. Is there any way to correct this problem with Safari?

    Back up all data.
Triple-click the line of text below to select it, the copy the selected text to the Clipboard (command-C):
    /Library/Internet Plug-ins
    In the Finder, select
    Go ▹ Go to Folder
from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-G. Paste into the text box that opens (command-V), then press return.
From the folder that opens, remove any items that have the letters “PDF” in the name. You may be prompted for your login password. Then quit and relaunch Safari, and test.
The "Silverlight" web plugin distributed by Microsoft can also interfere with PDF display in Safari, so you may need to remove it as well, if it's present.
If you still have the issue, repeat with this line:
    ~/Library/Internet Plug-ins
If you don’t like the results of this procedure, restore the items from the backup you made before you started. Relaunch Safari again.

  • Saving as a PDF -How do you make the PDF not bigger than the original file?

I am running Mac OS X Panther.
I understand that Mac OS X creates a "Digital Master" PDF file, which is larger than a typical PDF file because the resolution of images in the file is not scaled down. The PDF file includes each font character used in the document.
    Problem is this.
I actually want the PDF NOT to be bigger than the original document file.
    Can anyone please help?
    Thanks

    jslat,
It's probably most important to know exactly what you intend to do with the saved pdf file? Are you going to need to print the pdf etc.?
This Apple Knowledge Base article may help if you haven't already read it:

edit: You have posted in the 10.3 Panther OS and earlier forum and you appear to be using 10.4 (Tiger) by your computer specs below your topic which may handle pdf's somewhat differently. In your post you mention Panther so I just wanted to clarify if need be.

  • When creating PDF I get message "This file was saved to the Temporary Internet  Files Folder"

about 80% of the time when I am creating a PDF Document using the Print to Adobe function I get the following message:
"For your computers security, this file was saved to the Temporary Internet Files folder"
"Do you want to open this folder?"
It doesn't matter if I say yes I want to open the folder or not I can never locate the file.

You can get the same results (as turning protected mode off) by:
(presuming you have an icon for Internet Explorer on your desktop or taskbar) -- right click the icon and pick "Run as administrator"
I've got the same problem printing to pdf (Acrobat v8; problem's only in IE7) on a Dell Optiplex/Vista Business desktop machine (though not my T61/Vista Ultimate Thinkpad laptop) and the above resolves the issue for my desktop machine. Certainly not a fix but perhaps a clue to Adobe developers, on the [slim?] chance they read these posts.
