Modifier un exe

Bonjour,

  • Error occurred in deployment step 'Activate Features':EXCEPTION HAS BEEN THROWN BY THE TARGET OF AN INVOCATION?

    Hi All,
While building event handler to call webservice facing "Error occurred in deployment step 'Activate Features':EXCEPTION HAS BEEN THROWN BY THE TARGET OF AN INVOCATION"; If comment webservice, then build successfully. How to fix this issue?
    Thanks in advance!

    hi
if you call WCF service in feature event receiver you need to ensure that proxy is properly configured. In most cases proxy is configured via web.config file using <system.serviceModel> section, but if it is used in feature receiver it depends on how
    you activate the feature:
    1. if feature is added to onet.xml of custom web template which is used for creating site collection from Central Administration you will need to modify web.config file of CA
    2. similar to previous but instead of site collection you try to create sub site using custom web template: in this case you will need to modify web.config of your Sharepoint web application
    3. if you activate feature from timer job somehow, you will need to modify owstimer.exe.config
    4. if you activate feature form powershell, most probably you will need to modify or create powershell.exe.config, but I didn't try it
The most simple way which will work in all cases is to configure WCF proxy programmatically. See the following forum thread for details:
How can I set an HTTP Proxy (WebProxy) on a WCF client-side Service proxy.

  • How can I upgrade Windows Server 2012 Essentials to Windows Server 2012 R2 Essentials?

I have just installed Windows Server 2012 Essentials on my Home Network (from the installation DVD).  I have done absolutely no  configuration  Installing Server 2012 was an oversight;  I meant to install Server 2012 R2 Essentials.
I tried to correct by installing R2 from its DVD, hoping it would do an upgrade.  That didn't work.
Is there a simple way to make it possible to install the correct OS?   For example, can I just demote the existing server and remove any roles that were installed, so that the R2 disk will install over top of the existing installation?
Alternatively, is it safe to just reformat the partition and install R2?
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dn408635.aspx seems to imply that this is OK.

Hi Larry.   Thanks for the reply.  It didn't work, but I don't believe you are wrong.  Rather I think there is something weird in my system.  I'm marking your reply as answer.
Some background:  I'm repurposing an older PC (Compaq SR1614X) as a home server, to manage my home network, use as a gateway to my Azure server, and to help my Server 2012 training (on MVA).  I've been messing with it for nearly two months,
on and off.  From the start, I've had trouble installing the server 2012 software (see previous threads August-27 and August-16
), but when I got to the point that I could install Server 2012 Essentials, I thought I could upgrade to Server 2012 R2 Essentials exactly as you suggest.  That was where you helped me a lot, i.e. you confirmed that my expectations were reasonable.
So when it didn't work, I spent most of yesterday trying various different procedures.   I got tantalizingly close, but still no cigar.
I can install any Windows Client and Server 2012 Essentials, but the R2 Essentials installation never finishes; it goes into an "error 0x000000C4" boot loop.  At first I wondered if it was because I was installing a server over a
server, but you confirmed that's not the issue.  I later verified that I cannot install R2 over Windows 7 either, whereas R1 over Win7 is fine.  I can only surmise one of two problems:
I have a bad installation disk
    There is a hardware issue
I plan to eliminate (1) by creating a new disk from a new download.  I have verified that the latest ISO file and the one I have been using have identical byte counts,
For (2), I had suspected that the problem was that the older system has no UEFI, but since R1 installs OK, I am discounting that.  Today's effort:  to eliminate the DVD drive, I will try booting from a Flash Drive.  To eliminate
the hard drive, I will try installing to a different drive.
I am hoping you can help with one more thing.  When I run setup.exe with the /noreboot option, I have a better chance of success.  The option suppresses the first reboot only, but that one (after "Expanding the setup files") always
fails, so suppressing it gets me almost to the end of the install.  Is there a way to modify setup.exe so the it always runs with the /noreboot option?

  • Tomcat service will not start with JRockit 8.0

We are trying to use JRockit with Tomcat 4.0.1. It runs great as a console app
but when we try to run it as a service it will not start. Has anyone had any luck
    with this.

    Hi Bob!
You can use the jk_nt_service descibed and downloadble at
    http://members.ozemail.com.au/~lampante/howto/tomcat/iisnt/
To make this work on JRockit you have to follow these instrcutions.
    But also do this:
Make sure that you environment variables are set up correctly. Make sure
    that
you have set your JAVA_HOME environment variable correctly, and that that
"%JAVA_HOME%\bin" is available in your PATH environment variable before any
other directory where any version of java.exe may exist. When running
applications as Windows services it is crucial that you set these
    environment
variables system wide. To do this open
    Start->Settings->Control Panel->System
and select the Advanced tab. Click on the "Environment Variables." button.
    To
set system wide environment variables you must edit in the lower part of
    this
dialog, i.e. the part called System variables.
When using jk_nt_service the Tomcat startup is defined in
    %CATALINA_HOME%\conf\jk\wrapper.properties
Make sure that you set the three properties wrapper.tomcat_home,
wrapper.java_home and wrapper.cmd_line are set accordingly.
wrapper.tomcat_home must be set with the installation directory of tomcat
wrapper.java_home must be set to the same value as the JAVA_HOME environment
    variable.
The property wrapper.cmd_line defines the startup command.
At the time of writing, this property should be set to
    wrapper.cmd_line=$(wrapper.javabin) -Xnohup
    -Djava.security.policy=="$(wrapper.tomcat_policy)"
    -Dtomcat.home="$(wrapper.tomcat_home)" -classpath $(wrapper.class_path)
    $(wrapper.startup_class) -config $(wrapper.server_xml) start
for JRockit. Normally this command includes a non-standard option to stop
    the
JVM from shutting down the process when a user logs off. For JRockit this
non-standard option is -Xnohup, for the Sun JVM it is -Xrs.

We slightly modified tomcat.exe to install our app as a service.
Really the only changes we made were to the name of the service and weadded a
few application parameters with -D. We still use the same startup andshutdown
hooks to the Bootstrap jar. This is where we think there may be a

  • Project Build Installer Properties Slow to load, (Maximum vi size)

I have a LabVIEW Project with 450Mbytes of source code, and drivers.  The Project was originality in LabVIEW 2009.  I upgraded to LabVIEW 2011.
Now the Project Build > Installer Properties Menu is about 10x slower than was in LV 2009.
I've done a mass compile, resolved all error messages in the Project, yet 2011 is still 10x slower than 2009.
The 2011 Project will build an functional exe, and a functional installer given enough time (like 15 minutes).  During that time the computer is locked up, no other applications are functional.
The Computer is XP, dual Core, 2.5GHz, 4Gbytes Ram, 4Gbyte Page File.
The NI Support Desk is saying (quote)   >>>>   seem that the requirements for LabVIEW 2011 are different than the requirements for LabVIEW 2009    <<<<<
    Suggestions ???

Does the procedure take 30 minutes or 15 minutes (first post)? Also, what is it about the installer build spec that requires further modification after you modify your exe build spec? If the exe is included in the installer, the installer build will automatically re-preview the included exe to get an updated list of files to include next time the installer is built. So unless you need to modify something about the installer spec and not the included source files, no edits would normally be required after changing your exe (or other included source files).
Keep in mind, the previewing of the exe will take about as long as it takes to build the exe -- it's computing a list of the files that would be built without actually creating the files. A data point of interest is how much longer it takes your exe to build, comparing 2009 to 2011. Does your exe take 10 times longer to build in 2011? Longer exe build times mean longer preview operations in Installer Builder.
Another thing to check is which distributions you're including on the Additional Installers page. Are more distributions being included in the 2011 build? Did the distributions change significantly in size since 2009?

  • DV5000 bios update without C drive

This is a long and arduous story. In summary... Laptop (model DV5218NR - prod# - EZ416UA#ABA) was working fine (running XPHome which came installed from HP). Decided to try Win7 (pre-release) which installed and ran fine for 5 months. When the pre-release 'expired' wanted to install retail version of Win7. Installation failed with "Windows could not find a partiton to install on." Decided to go back to WinXP Home. The recovery partition had been overwritten by Win7 so I obtained a copy of HP recovery CD. Recovery CD cannot find a HDD! BIOS recognizes the HDD and it passed the tests available in BIOS (HP version F15-6/13/06). Research revealed that the BIOS may be 'locked' which is preventing the OS from seeing the HDD. Decided to flash the BIOS to ver F24 and had to build a custom boot ISO (using BartPE) with the flash program in it. Booted PC from BartPE CD and ran the flash program. The problem is that the flash update program wants to write something on the C drive which is not available. Is there a way to flash the BIOS without a C drive? Suppose there's a way to modify the EXE so that it looks for another drive letter (seems there used to be an old DOS command - substitute??) ? Is there any way to 'map' a C drive to a virtual/RAM drive?
I also read that I may be able to F6 the Win install to load 3rd party drivers but cannot find any reference on that either.

    Ok
I guess that's the reason for the problems. It is not so easy to know anyway because there are several ways to upgrade the BIOS on some of the models.
The method you are using apply only to Toshiba BIOS and when there is a diskette available with the extracted BIOS package on.
In this case we're using a bootable CD so that won't work here.
Instead, start the machine with the power button, and when you see the Toshiba-logo, press F12.
That will bring you to the BOOT Device selection menue. It consists of a small icon-menue below the TOSHIBA-logo.
The internal HDD is highlighted and you can move the marker by pressing the arrow keys.
Move the marker to the icon that looks like a CD.
    Press ENTER.
Now it will boot from the CD and hopefully update the BIOS.

    Thomas A Reed wrote:

It's a worm Thomas it works on it's own.
It's a Windows worm, but it could have morphed to include OS X, the only way to defeat it is to erase and install OS X via write protected media and work outwards.
Since the infected user files will be on the external drive, hopefully that will delay it's ability to replicate enough for a av scan to remove it. The standard user account is used to reduce it's privilege access level, if it hops over to the Standard, that account will be removed anyway.
Still if that all doesn't work or the Op gets reinfected from outside sources again, then the clone is there to fall back onto after another Zero erase from the disk.
And throwing away a worm infected TM drive is certainly a good option than connecting infected media back to a clean system, however taking the drive to a malware experienced PC or Linux user with a DBAN disk to erase it completely would certainly save the drive.
Viruses, worms and Trojan Horses are all malicious programs that can cause damage to your computer, but there are differences among the three.
One common mistake that people make when the topic of a computer virus arises is to refer to a worm or Trojan horse as a virus. While the words Trojan, worm and virus are often used interchangeably, they are not exactly the same  thing. Viruses, worms and Trojan Horses are all malicious programs that can cause damage to your computer, but there are differences among the three, and knowing those differences can help you better protect your computer from their often damaging effects.
    What Is a Virus?
A computer virus attaches itself to a program or file enabling it to spread from one computer to another, leaving infections as it travels. Like a human virus, a computer virus can range in severity: some may cause only mildly annoying effects while others can damage your hardware, software or files. Almost all viruses are attached to an executable file, which means the virus may exist on your computer but it actually cannot infect your computer unless you run or open the malicious program. It is important to note that a virus cannot be spread without a human action, (such as running an infected program) to keep it going. Because  a virus is spread by human action people will unknowingly continue the spread of a computer virus by sharing infecting files or sending emails with viruses as attachments in the email.
    What Is a Worm?
A worm is similar to a virus by design and is considered to be a sub-class of a virus. Worms spread from computer to computer, but unlike a virus, it has the capability to travel without any human action. A worm takes advantage of file or information transport features on your system, which is what allows it to travel unaided.
The biggest danger with a worm is its capability to replicate itself on your system, so rather than your computer sending out a single worm, it could send out hundreds or thousands of copies of itself, creating a huge devastating effect. One example would be for a worm to send a copy of itself to everyone listed in your e-mail address book. Then, the worm replicates and sends itself out to everyone listed in each of the receiver's address book, and the manifest continues on down the line.
Due to the copying nature of a worm and its capability to travel across networks the end result in most cases is that the worm consumes too much system memory (or network bandwidth), causing Web servers, network servers and individual computers to stop responding. In recent worm attacks such as the much-talked-about Blaster Worm, the worm has been designed to tunnel into your system and allow malicious users to control your computer remotely.
    What Is a Trojan horse?
A Trojan Horse is full of as much trickery as the mythological Trojan Horse it was named after. The Trojan Horse, at first glance will appear to be useful software but will actually do damage once installed or run on your computer.  Those on the receiving end of a Trojan Horse are usually tricked into opening them because they appear to be receiving legitimate software or files from a legitimate source.  When a Trojan is activated on your computer, the results can vary. Some Trojans are designed to be more annoying than malicious (like changing your desktop, adding silly active desktop icons) or they can cause serious damage by deleting files and destroying information on your system. Trojans are also known to create a backdoor on your computer that gives malicious users access to your system, possibly allowing confidential or personal information to be compromised. Unlike viruses and worms, Trojans do not reproduce by infecting other files nor do they self-replicate.
    What Are Blended Threats?
Added into the mix, we also have what is called a  blended threat. A blended threat is a more sophisticated attack that bundles some of the worst aspects of viruses, worms, Trojan horses and  malicious code into one single threat. Blended threats can use server and Internet vulnerabilities to initiate, then transmit and also spread an attack. Characteristics of blended threats are that they cause harm to the infected system or network, they propagates using multiple methods, the attack can come from multiple points, and blended threats also exploit vulnerabilities.
To be considered a blended thread, the attack would normally serve to transport multiple attacks in one payload. For example it wouldn't just launch a DoS attack — it would also, for example, install a backdoor and maybe even damage a local system in one shot. Additionally, blended threats are designed to use multiple modes of transport. So, while a worm may travel and spread through e-mail, a single blended threat could use multiple routes including e-mail, IRC and file-sharing sharing networks.
Lastly, rather than a specific attack on predetermined .exe files, a blended thread could do multiple malicious acts, like modify your exe files, HTML files and registry keys at the same time — basically it can cause damage within several areas of your network at one time.
Blended threats are considered to be the worst risk to security since the inception of viruses, as most blended threats also require no human intervention to propagate.

  • MDT 2012u1 LiteTouch SkipFinalSummary=YES not working

Hello I have an MDT task sequence that deploys Windows 7 and some applications that are selected from the UDI Wizard. I have customized the wizard using UDI Wizard Designer and managed to get it to add computer description in AD and join domain etc. The
problem I have is that despite specifying SkipSummary=YES and SkipFinalSummary=YES in CustomSettings.ini I still receive the initial summary screen and the deployment success summary screen at the end. The initial summary screen is not too much of an issue
but the final summary screen is.
I am deploying some AppV apps selected from the UDI Wizard and these appear as "Status Unknown" at the end of the deployment. To rule out whether the warnings from these AppV apps was the cause I don't select any apps yet I still receive the final
summary screen. Is there anyway I can suppress this completion notice regardless of whether there are warnings or errors? It is really the only thing stopping me from going live with this particular task sequence so to suppress this final screen would be great!
    Any advice welcome.
    Thanks

So i discovered that in the MDT Toolkit package lives the following:
    Tools\OSDResults\OSDResults.exe
This file ends up in %WINDIR%\UDI on a deployed system and indeed running OSDResults.exe basically displays the Deployment Complete Wizard on the screen. This lead me to inspect some of the files in the "Tools\OSDResults" folder. I ended up looking
inside "OSD_InstallOSDResults.vbs" and could see a line towards the top (line 15) like this.
    Const CmdRegAddResults = "reg add HKLM\SYSTEM\Setup /v CmdLine /d ""System32\wscript.exe //B %windir%\UDI\Bootstrapper.vbs"" /f"
    I also noticed line 22...
    Const CmdRegAddOSDResults = "reg add HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunOnce /v RunOSDResults /d %windir%\UDI\OSDResults.exe /f"
So i immediately did a search for CmdRegAddOSDResults which got me to line 80/81 where an if statement exists. This basically says if the machine is touch enabled run OSDResults.exe from CmdRegAddOSDResults else run bootstrapper.vbs from CmdRegAddResults.
So i fired up bootstrapper.vbs and immediately spotted the code that was causing my problem. Line 5...
    Call oWS.Run("%windir%\udi\osdresults.exe", 0 , true)
I copied the contents of bootstrapper.vbs to a new file and renamed the original to bootstrapper.old. I named the new file bootstrapper.vbs and commented out the above line. Updated DPs, ran my task sequence again and hey presto the wizard was not shown.
The reason for the new file is the original bootstrapper.vbs appears to be signed.
I have no idea if this will cause any other problems, I imagine it might and I only really went down this path since SkipFinalSummary=YES, FinishAction=REBOOT didn't seem to work at all for me.
It was at this point I discovered the file "OSDResults.exe.config" in the Tools\OSDResults folder and then discovered this in the documentation:
    http://deployment.cybertechcomputers.co.nz/mdt-toolkit-reference/TimeoutMinutes.htm
I have restored the original bootstrapper.vbs and am currently running with a modified OSDResults.exe.config with timeoutMinutes set to 1. I will report back if this does indeed close down the page after 1 minute.

  • Can a labview executable program be converted back?

Can an executable program be editted?

No. What you're asking for is the equivalent of editing Word, Excel, or any other executable. In theory, you can use a disassembler to view and modify the exe but you had better be extremely proficient in assembly code and the details of the LabVIEW compiler. With some older versions of LabVIEW, there was the option to create an executable without removing the diagram. On the off chance that you might have one of these, change the exe extension to llb and see if you can open anything.

  • Runtime location

    Hi,
I' m trying to launch an external program that generates .XML files from .VVV files
    My command is :
    String pouf ="C:\\XML-Toto\\";
    Runtime.getRuntime().exec(pouf + "V8xmldmp.exe " + pouf + "meuh.vvv");
where V8xmldmp is the program that generates meuh.xml from meuh.vvv
pouf is the path where meuh.vvv and V8xmldmp.exe are situated
this command functionates, but the problem is that the .xml file is generated in the folder containing the java project and not in the "Toto" folder
How can I do for generating my .xml file in a folder I could select before ?
I have tried to put me in the good folder by a command like:
    Runtime.getRuntime().exec(cd\\);
But the command-system-DOS (cd, dir, ect...) don't seem to be launchable by this way ! I don't thing also it's the good solution
Please, what is the solution to my problem ?
Another question : I want to put my XML dumper program in my package with the .DLL files it's using.
    Is it possible ?
How can I launch the same command for generating XML ? What is the path for a program situated in my package ?
PS: I'm french so excuse my poor english !!!

That's impossible, I can't modify the .EXE file (I didn't wrote it) and it's not necessary, there must be another way

Okay ... so it's not one of the cases of bodged up ACLs on the Apple folder in Common Files. (That's been underlying a few of the recalcitrant E7W5s.
