Modify a published web gallery?

I don't work with web galleries very often but plan to do more in the future.
I've created a web gallery in Aperture and published it to .mac. So far, so good. Now, can someone please explain the steps to making changes to it ? (add or delete an image, edit the title). Page 350 of the help manual talks about making changes. It seems so straightforward, I've got to be missing the obvious!
Also - how do I delete the web pages I no longer want? I thought I did this on my iDisk once before but now I can't figure out how to remove the old webpages.
Thanks, Dave

Dave,
After you add or delete photos from a gallery that you've already created just go ahead and click on the "publish to .mac" button. In the address box that pops up type in the name of the gallery exactly as you did when you first created it. Aperture will then ask you if you wish to update or replace the existing gallery. I've had to do it several times in the past and it works like a charm. Hope this helps.

  • Publishing Web Gallery on iWeb

Before I decide to upgrade ti iLife 08, I have a question. I have created a web page for our family using iWeb. It includes a photo page and video page. I am very happy with the way it turned out, as it is a good way to post new pictures, videos, and family news for our friends and family to see.
Now comes Web Gallery in iLife 08, which seems easier and quicker to post photos and video on the web, but it kind of defeats one of the main purposes of our iWeb site. Is there a way to link up the Web Gallery site on my current iWeb site? If not, it almost seems that the photo and video pages on my iWeb site will now be obsolete.
    Thanks,
    Jim

    Jim:
I don't have my copy as yet but why not publish the site and use it until you upgrade to iLife 08. Then see if iWeb 2 will work with the older domain.sites file (I would expect it to) and then decide the best way to do what you want.
The new iPHoto 7 has new slick photo and movie presentation capability according to iPhoto's page. Is that what you're referring to?

  • Any suggestions about why images are not displaying in a published web gallery?

A web gallery generated in Lightroom 3 in 2008 was certainly working correctly when originally published to our (Guernsey Museum) website and still functions correctly from the staging server across our intranet. I have republished it from the staging server (via Dreamweaver) and checked that all the files are present on the live site but still the images refuse to show. The audio associated with the images and the gallery framework itself does work as expected. Another gallery made later and published to the same site works exactly as it should. The ISP cannot explain why one gallery is working properly and the other is not so I'm asking here in desperation if anyone has any insight into possible causes. The (Book of Sark) gallery which doesn't work is here:
    http://www.museums.gov.gg/BkSark/gallery/html/index.html
The (Peoples Choice) gallery which does work is here:
    http://www.museums.gov.gg/p-choice/index.html
Thanks for reading this far - any helpful suggestions would be much appreciated!

It looks like the Book of Sark gallery has photos in a bin folder.  Some servers don't like that, but it could be a clue for the ISP.

  • Publishing web gallery without .Mac

    Hello,
I finally have my portfolio all set up the way that I want it and would like to publish it. I don't want to have to use .Mac (and since it's replaced by MobileMe now). Is there a way that I can publish this portfolio using a free hosting server?
    Thanks!
    -Will

    Will,
In Aperture, Web Pages or Web Journals can be uploaded to any host site. The Web Gallery function, however, is limited to .Mac use; this is due to functions that are performed on the server and which are specific to .Mac.

  • Publish web gallery to a different .mac account

    Hi Friends.
Can I publish web galleries to both of my .mac accounts from the same Mac?
It seems like I might have to create a different user account on the MAc itself and make the other .mac account the default for that different user. I would really rather not do that, as I have one iPhoto library with all of my photos for every aspect of my life and work.
    Thanks for any guidance.

To make is more convenient to do that you could create a second user account, set it up for the other .Mac account and publish from there. You could either use two separate libraries or put your library on an external HD so both account could use it without ownership/permissions issues.
You can also set up fast user switching so you wouldn't have to log out of one account to get to the other.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier) database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger or later), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 6 and 7 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.≤br>
Note: There now an Automator backup application for iPhoto 5 that will work with Tiger or Leopard.

  • Dotmac published web gallery not showing up.

So I have now created 2 web galleries through Aperture 2. One shows up the other does not..
The URL it should be at is http://gallery.mac.com/cbchev68/100191 and it should be called Sushi Hunter.. The other one that is showing up is called Northwind Charters.
Im guessing there is some software bug here. If I go into Aperture -> Web Gallery -> Sushi Hunter. Then in the main window choose Web Gallery -> Visit Web Gallery, it opens Safari with the above URL and I get an error that the gallery does not exist.. What is even more interesting is that if I go into Aperture preferences, web gallery, it only shows the one gallery that actually shows up on the doc mac servers. I have to assume it is querying the dot mac servers for this data, as there is a 5 second lag or so before this list is populated.
Its as though Aperture created the web gallery, but then never actually uploaded the images..
    Anyone else seen this?

Well its definitely a software bug, I just created another new album with a slightly different name and it looks like the photos are now uploading and properly showing up.

  • Web Module: Works great, but is it possilble to publish an HTML web gallery that does not use thumbnails, but just displays all photos (one above another)?

It would be nice if a published web gallery did not require clicking or sliding in order to view a new picture. Is there a template that just puts up every image in the gallery, full-size, one above another? That's how I like my webpages - see, for example, www.sgrhoa.net/betz/150205/ .
    Thanks!
    Bill

The built-in templates do not do that. At a quick glance, none of the available templates from Adobe's site do that either.

  • Web Gallery doesn't delete

I deleted a Web Gallery from iPhoto (7.0.1) and while it disappeared from iPhoto, it's still on-line in my web gallery! I can't find it in iDisk to delete it. Anyone have a solution?
    Thanks!

The original poster was pointing out that if you delete a published web gallery from iPhoto's source list but it's not unpublished from .Mac, you need to go into Preferences and choose "Stop Publishing."
Your advice works for a deleted photo that wasn't removed from .Mac but it's not a solution for a whole album that's been deleted.

  • Web Gallery troubles

I published a web gallery (album of pictures) to my .mac account, and it worked properly. But I then had to change one of those pictures (actually a title with an error), and I did this by changing it in the iPhoto 08 web gallery. That, too, worked properly, changing the slide with the error in the published web gallery. However, subsequently, I found that .mac now had 2 copies of that photo album, both with the offending slide corrected, but one with an extra copy of the offending slide.
I don't know how to get rid of the extra copy in .mac. My iPhoto 08 shows only one copy (and the correct one) so there is nothing to change there. And as far as I understand, it is only by changing the album in iPhoto 08 that I can have an effect on what has been published in .mac.
Does anyone have any suggestions> Rick

Addendum: I was fiddling around and found that although the extra copy did not show in iPhoto 08, it did show in iPhoto Preferences/Web Gallery. So I changed the name of the album in iPhoto 08 so that I could tell which was the correct copy, and after the changed name turned up in the preferences list, I stopped publishing on the other one, the extra copy. That eliminated the extra copy!!!...and I found ity gone when I went back to .mac. Hope this helps somebody. Rick

  • What happened to the Web Gallery list in my iPhoto 08 sidebar?

I posted a web gallery yesterday. It's visible online, but no longer listed in the iPhoto sidebar (along with albums, events, etc.). Is this right or has something gone wrong?
I'd like to have it back so that I can invite others to come view the gallery without having to go online to do it.

what version of iPhoto are you running? There have been many fixes to web galleries and there still are some issues to be resolved - in versions before 7.1.2 web galleries were pretty flaky
7.1.3 still have some issues but many less
One suggestion is in the future make an album of the photos you want in the web gallery and do all changes there then publish that album as a web gallery - making changes to a published web gallery while it is updating (and you can not easily control this) still seems to cause problems

  • Aperture to .Mac Web Gallery Help please. Urgent !!

Hi, I having been going round in circles trying to figure this out -
Q1) I cannot find a way to update to my published .Mac web gallery from Aperture(2.1)
When I select the versions that I want to add to the gallery I drag them into the Web
Gallery album in the projects inspector and synchronize the gallery to update, but
only the Master images are added to the published web gallery, not the versions !?
Q2) Also, when I originally created the Web Gallery album Aperture imported my entire
project (All masters, complete stacks, vers etc) but somehow only published the versions
I had selected for publishing to a .Mac Web Gallery. Why has aperture included the Masters,
complete stacks etc in the Web Gallery album ?
If someone could help with this, particularly Q1, it would be much appreciated as I have
a client waiting to see more versions which I cannot manage to add to the existing
published Web Gallery for that client.
    Thx

    Hi Ernie, thx for responding.
I have tried everything, but same result - Aperture only publishes the unedited Master, not the version with Adjustments. When I originally published images to the .Mac web gallery I disabled all downloads, as the gallery is intended for client review & selection only.
Some further questions if you don't mind.. Am I doing the right thing in dragging versions from the project to the Web Gallery album (in projects inspector)? When I do that I see that Aperture copies both the Master & version to the web gallery album (they are both visible in the web gallery album) The problem is that only the Master is published to the .Mac web gallery (which i don't want), and not the edited Version(which I do want) This worked ok the first time around when I created the web gallery album and published it to .Mac galleries, however I did notice that the web gallery album in Aperture contains the entire contents of the project (Masters, complete stacks & versions etc)
The Aperture manual is very vague on adding new images to a web gallery album and publishing them to an existing >mac Web gallery. It says that this can be done, but not how to do so. I may be missing something simple and obvious, but the Aperture user manual is really not sufficient in this area. Any further ideas or suggestions would be welcome. Thx again.

  • Editing a web gallery

How do I delete an individual photo from a web gallery Ive posted. If i remove the photo from the iphoto event will that remove that one photo from the published web gallery? Also, I created a gallery from my home computer and added a photo to it from my work computer. How do I delete the photo I added from a different computer (or any other photo that was added by a 3rd party if its not in my iphoto library)
    thanks!

web gallerys are special albums - you can find them in the left hand side bar of iPhoto under "Web Gallerys"
To delete a photo, open the album and drag the photo to the trash (this should work for both photos you had uploaded from iphoto and photos others have uploaded). To be sure, and to hurry the process, click on the refresh icon ot the right of the Web Gallery album name.
If it does not delete the photo, go to the finder -- iDisk ==> web ==> sites ==> _gallerys and find the gallery and the photo and delete it there.

  • Web gallery url

Is there an easy way to find the url of the Aperture web galleries that I have created? In iWeb there is a button that says "visit" - I wish there was something similar in Aperture, especially as for some reason the web galleries I create don't automatically use the name that I assign them when creating originally. I've searched, but can't find the answer.

Hi - logging into .mac tells me the web pages I have put up using iWeb, but also says that I have no published web galleries. It can only "see" web galleries that I have put up using iPhoto. However, I definitely have put up close to 20 web galleries using Aperture, and they are all current.. So far the only way for me to keep track of the urls has been by putting the links to the galleries via a page created using iWeb, which seems pretty indirect.
I have also not been able to find instructions in the manual for unpublishing redundant Aperture web galleries. And when I have wanted to update web galleries, Aperture doesn't always remember the name previously assigned to a published web gallery, so instead of updating, I end up publishing an updated set of pages, but the old ones are still there too.
It makes no sense to me that Aperture doesn't consistently remember the web galleries that it has published, and the .mac account doesn't point me towards the galleries. I'm using Aperture 2.0 - had the same problem in earlier versions of Aperture. I've even bought two books on Aperture, but neither tells me how to handle the web galleries from start to finish, including updating.

  • Question:  How to edit and/or delete photos uploaded to web gallery?

My Dad uploaded some photos to my web gallery without renaming the photos. Is there any way I can go in and edit and/or delete these photos? Sorry if it's a dumb question... I'm new to iLife '08 (really new to iLife in general)... and for the life of me can't figure out how to edit and/or delete these photos (without deleting the whole library).
    Thanks for any help!
    Ciao ~ Louie

Guess I just answered my own question.
For anybody else that may be wondering...
From within iPhoto there is a "WEB GALLERY" tab in the left side menu. There you will see the name of your web gallery with a little icon that looks like an antenna. If you click on that icon... it will sync your web gallery photos that have been uploaded by other users into iPhoto. You can then edit and/or delete the photos within iPhoto and the edits will automatically change on the published web gallery (may depend on sync preferences... mine changed automatically).

  • Web Gallery & iWeb

Does anyone know why I can not insert a published web gallery from Aperture. Only the web gallery from iPhoto seem to be available in iWeb not the ones I made in Aperture. I can see them on my .mac website, go to them etc... just can't seem to get them to be available in iWeb.
    Thanks in Advance
    G

I have tried to do this as well and have not figured it out. It seems that there is less connectivity between Aperture and iWEB than iPHOTO and iWEB which is a shame. Am I missing some simple instructions some where?
