Modify combo box dimension

Hi,
How can I modify the combo box (drop down list) dimension in infoview and CMC?
I have a combo box wich is fill with string values from a LOV.Some strings are larger than the width of the combo box and for that i want to increase the width.
Anyone knows if this is possible or not?
And if it is how could be done?
Thanks
Best Regards,
Aurel

Can you please let me know you fill the combo box with LOV of universe objects?

  • InfoView - How to Restrict values of Month Dimension Combo Box

    Patches Applied:

    Error Messages:Steps to Reproduce:
    Hello, we are using Business Objects Enterprise XI R2 in the company I work, and we are facing a problem in some web intelligence reports.Our BO version is in Spanish, so maybe I do not translate some BO terms properly into English.
    We have the "Time" class in the Universe we use, and in that class, we have the "month" dimension.
    When we create some reports in InfoView, we can use the "month" dimension to display the results of that month (dragging and dropping that dimension in the "Analysis Context" Area).
    The user can choose values in the "month" dimention through a combobox in the "analysis context" area. The problem is that Infoview allows the user to select the value "all the values" of that dimension, I mean, all the months, so that the results of the report are according to the "automatic aggregation" calculated of the values of that dimension (all the months).
    But, we do not want to allow the user to select that value (all the values) of that dimension, because it causes that the report displays incorrect results (we have some percentages that have incorrect values in the aggregation, for example). I hope that you understand the problem I have tried to explain.
    My question is how can we restrict so that the combo box (of the month dimension at the analysis context area ) does not allow to select "all the values"?
    Is it possible?  If so, do we have to make a change in the universe or is it a restriction of the web intelligence repport?
    Thank you very much!

    Alejandro,
    In your posting, quote "(we have some percentages that have incorrect values in the aggregation, for example).", I'm wondering if you are calculating the percentages within your universe or not?  I.e. do you have a universe object that in essence is doing the math?  If so, I might suggest that you not do it this way (even though in total aggregation calculations this will produce a valid result), but in disaggregate calculations (during the users "slicing and dicing") the percentages are not re-calculated by the BusObjects tool because it thinks that the data it received from the SQL output is good to go, and this is where the incorrect values in the aggregation start to show up.  We had this problem too, so we ceased from calculating at the universe level and built a local variable to the report, thus BusObjects will recalcuate the percentage properly for each level of aggregation that user selects.  The downside to this approach is that every report that has percentage calculations will require the local variable to be built for that report.  Even users who build their own reports will have to build their own local variable to compute the percentage for their reports.  The upside is that the calculations will be correct every time.

  • How to modify a combo box for touch panel operation?

    Hi,
    I'm developping a touch panel controled application.
    The first step of the application is user log-in. My application has a small database of names that the user can access via the drop down menu of a combo box.
    My problem is that the arrows and the slider of the vertical scroll bar are way too small to be fingers-operated:
    Is there a way to modify the size of this scrollbar so that it's not too small for the operators' fingers?
    Best regards,
    peper

    Hello peper,
    As far as I know this is not directly possible (a least not with the control editor).
    If you want to, you could also create your own "adapted" control yourself through an XControl.
    This one can then (for example) combine a name input, a button and a listbox (with a big vertical scrollbar).
    Or is this too far fetched?

  • Only Dimension Table Values in Combo Box or Drill Down Selections

    Hi All,
       How to get only Dimension Table Values instead of Master Data Values in Combo Box or Drill Down Box list of values?
    I am getting all the values in 0CALMONTH Combo Box where i need only infoproviders values.
    In Entry List tab of Combo Box when i select 0CALMONTH its reading from its Master Data.Is there any option how there is Dimension table in Value help.
    In Query, infoobject levels the filter values selection is set as infoprovider only.
    Can anyone please let me know how to get only dimension table values when we use combo box.
    Thanks & Regards
    K.Srinivas Rao

    Hi
    Create one BI query with only one object in the output of the query. (In your case 0CALMONTH)
    So now if when you run the query it will show values which are there in infoprovider. THen drag one form from output of this query in vc & create dropdown list on this.
    Is this what you are looking for?

  • Combo box, ring and event to modify them runtime

    Hi,
    I attached a picture of the block diagram. Using LV 8.2.1, win XP.
    What I want : User should select from Main Selection, and that brings up new values for strings in the other menus (tried both combo box and menu ring items).
    Teh problem : This block doesn't do that. Why? Looking with probe, I see the event captured and data are ok until the property node. They are not writed and on the front panel I see no difference.
    Thanx

    I thought that the code inside the while loop but outside the event structure wasn't care.
    So if I want to do something continuosly (for example continuosly comparing two integer values to have a real-time boolean led indicator on front panel), do I put the code in the middle? This is a bit confusing thinking about the "timeout event"....
    Use the timeout event or put in the middle (=outside event structure but inside while loop.... at which CPU rate is executed?? too fast?) ??
    Just a suggestion. The timeout event for the Event Structure [ES] is equivalent to that of providing a small delay inside the while loop.
    But it is not mandatory. If you dont wire some value to the timeout terminal, but still want to something, like comparison, you can very well put that code outside the ES but inside the while loop. It ll execute.
    Else you can wire a value like 50 or 100 to the timeout terminal [ this gives enough time for the execution of the various codes inside the various events configured for the ES], so that the ES times out for every 50 or 100 ms when none of the other events occurs. If you put your comparison code here, it ll be doing the comparison all the time or whenever the ES waits and crosses the specified ms after an event has happened.
    I hope this gives you a clear idea about eventstructures.

  • Combo box popup width adjusting no longer work in 1.0.6_26-b03

    Previously, I was able to adjusting combo box popup's width, by referring to the technique described in [http://tips4java.wordpress.com/2010/11/28/combo-box-popup/|http://tips4java.wordpress.com/2010/11/28/combo-box-popup/]. During that time, I was using 1.0.6_24-b07.
    However, after I update my Java runtime to 1.0.6_26-b03, things broke.

    I had came across another workaround as stated here.
    [http://www.jroller.com/santhosh/entry/make_jcombobox_popup_wide_enough|http://www.jroller.com/santhosh/entry/make_jcombobox_popup_wide_enough]
    The popup's is having enough width to show all items. However, it is not perfect still, as the width is little too much. I still can see some extra space at the tailing of the list.
    The workaround is as follow.
    import javax.swing.*;
    import java.awt.*;
    import java.util.Vector;
    // got this workaround from the following bug:
    //      http://bugs.sun.com/bugdatabase/view_bug.do?bug_id=4618607
    public class WideComboBox extends JComboBox{
        public WideComboBox() {
        public WideComboBox(final Object items[]){
            super(items);
        public WideComboBox(Vector items) {
            super(items);
        public WideComboBox(ComboBoxModel aModel) {
            super(aModel);
        private boolean layingOut = false;
        public void doLayout(){
            try{
                layingOut = true;
                super.doLayout();
            }finally{
                layingOut = false;
        public Dimension getSize(){
            Dimension dim = super.getSize();
            if(!layingOut)
                dim.width = Math.max(dim.width, getPreferredSize().width);
            return dim;
    }

  • Determine the best width for ListCellRenderer - Multi-column combo box

    Currently, I am having a multi column combo box. In order for the column to align properly during show popup, I use box layout to do so. However, the short coming for box layout is that, the size for each column is fixed. This makes me have a difficulty, when I have a long string to be displayed. The problem is shown through the following screen shoot.
    http://i.imgur.com/4Nfc6.png
    This is because in 2nd column,
    1) All the 3 rows must be in same size so that they are aligned.
    2) But 1st row and 2nd row cell renderer, do not know 3rd row is holding such a long string.
    The code (2 files) to demo this problem is as follow. Is there any way the size of the cell will be adjusted automatically? Yet, all the row will be aligned properly.

    Are these two lines intentionally or is it just a mismatch?
    jLabel2.setMaximumSize(new java.awt.Dimension(100, 14));
    jLabel2.setMinimumSize(new java.awt.Dimension(200, 14));
    2) But 1st row and 2nd row cell renderer, do not know 3rd row is holding such a long string.There is only one cell renderer for all rows, so no need for the rows to know each other.
    To calculate the exact maximum width of column two, you have to check each entry.
    If you can do this BEFORE creating the combo, you could do this in a loop similar to this pseudo code
    FontMetrics fm= jComboBox1.getFontMetrics(jComboBox1.getFont());
    foreach (column2String) {
      int length= fm.stringWidth(column2String);
      if (length>max) max= length;
    }Now you have a max value to dimension jLabel2 in your renderer.
    If you don't fill your combo in one go, but rather at runtime, you have to check at each
    jComboBox1.addItem(...)
    whether the string for label2 is extending the current max, redefine max, and repaint the combo.
    This second approach I haven't done so far, but that's how I would try.

  • Adding an event listener to combo box

    I am working on a mortgage calculator and I cannot figure out how to add an event listener to a combo box.
    I want to get the mortgage term and interest rate to calucate the mortgage using the combo cox. Here is my program.
    Modify the mortgage program to allow the user to input the amount of a mortgage
    and then select from a menu of mortgage loans: 7 year at 5.35%, 15 year at 5.50%, and
    30 year at 5.75%. Use an array for the different loans. Display the mortgage payment
    amount. Then, list the loan balance and interest paid for each payment over the term
    of the loan. Allow the user to loop back and enter a new amount and make a new
    selection, with resulting new values. Allow user to exit if running as an application
    (can't do that for an applet though).

    The OP already did this to both JComboBoxes.
    mochatay, here is a new actionPerformed method for you to use.
    I've improved a few things here and there...
    1) You can't just cast the ActionEvent's source into a JComboBox!
    What if it was a JButton that fired the event? Then you would get ClassCastExceptions (I'm sure you did)
    So check for all options, what the source of the ActionEvent actually was...
    2) You can't assume the user will always type in valid data.
    So enclose the Integer and Double parse methods in try-catch brakcets.
    Then you can do something when you know that the user has entered invalid input
    (like tell him/her what a clumsy idiot they are !)
    3) As soon as user presses an item in any JComboBox, just re-calculate.
    I did this here by programmatically clicking the 'Calculate' button.
    Alternatively, you could have a 'calculate' method, which does everything inside the
    if(command==calculateButton) if-block.
    This will be called when:
    a)calculateButton is pressed
    b)when either of the JComboBoxes are pressed.
    public void actionPerformed (ActionEvent event)
            Object command = event.getSource ();
            if (command == calculateButton) //calculates mortgage payment
                int year = 0;
                double rate = 0;
                double mortgage = 0;
                double interest = 0;
                /* If user has input invalid data, tell him so
                and return (Exit from this method back to where we were before */
                try
                    year = Integer.parseInt (mortgageTerm.getSelectedItem ().toString ());
                    rate = new Double (interestRate.getSelectedItem ().toString ()).doubleValue ();
                    mortgage = new Double (mortgageAmount.getText ()).doubleValue ();
                    interest = rate / 100.0 / 12.0;
                catch (NumberFormatException nfe)
                    /* Display a message Dialogue box with a message */
                    JOptionPane.showMessageDialog (this, "Error! Invalid input!");
                    return;
                double monthly = mortgage * (interest / (1 - Math.pow (interest + 1, -12.0 * year)));
                NumberFormat myCurrencyFormatter;
                myCurrencyFormatter = NumberFormat.getCurrencyInstance (Locale.US);
                monthlyPayment.setText (myCurrencyFormatter.format (monthly));
            else if (command == clearButton) //clears all text fields
                /* Better than setting it to null (I think) */
                mortgageAmount.setText ("");
                //mortgageTerm.setText(null);
                //interestRate.setText(null);
                monthlyPayment.setText ("");
            else if (command == exitButton) //sets exit button
                System.exit (0);
            else if (command == mortgageTerm)
                /* Programmatically 'clicks' the button,
                As is user had clicked it */
                calculateButton.doClick ();
            else if (command == interestRate)
                calculateButton.doClick ();
            //JComboBox mortgageTerm = (JComboBox) event.getSource ();
            //String termYear = (String) mortgageTerm.getSelectedItem ();
        }Hope this solves your problems.
    I also hope you'll be able to learn from what I've indicated, so you can use similar things yourself
    in future!

    lutha

  • Problem in refreshing the combo box on selection of an item in another comb

    I have a situation where values to be displayed in 2nd combo box depends on the selection of an item from the 1st combo box.
    Problem observed:
    The 2nd combo box is not getting refreshed if the selected item from the 1st combo box has mapping to more than 10 items.
    for ex:
    A - AA, AB, AC, AD, AE, AF
    B - BA, BB, BC, BD, BE, BF, BG, BH, BI, BJ, BK, BL, BM, BN, BO, BP
    C - CA, CB, CC
    D - DA, DB, DC, DD
    1st combo box list:
    A
    B
    C
    D
    2nd combo box list:
    If the value selected from the first combo box is A, C, or D then 2nd combo box refreshes with repective values. But when the value selected is B, then 2nd combo box is not getting refreshed with respective values.

    the very simple strategy to do is to call removeAllItems() method for the 2nd combox box and then insert the contents. this is because the validate() method is not repeatedly called and so the contents are not updated immediately.

  • How to populate the second combo box by depending on the selection in 1st?

    I have two combo boxes, both of data in the lists come from the database. The list in the second will be changed when the selection is changed in the first one. I am trying to do query again in the ActionPerform function, unfortunately the list in second one doesn't change.
    I am learning Swing now, I really appreciate for any suggestions!
    Thanks

    camickr,
    I have another question for the tab pane. Now I have to remove the tab and add tab for updating the tab pane. I wonder if there is other way to do it. I really appreciate your help!

  • Using wildcards in combo box list

    Is it possible to key in the first letter of a member and retrieve all matches? For example, key in the letter A in the combo box and the drop down list is all of the members starting with the letter A. If so, how?This is for a product dimension that is sorted by sku number. Therefore the aliases are not sorted. Just trying to make it easier to scroll and make a choice.Is another way better? I am trying to use the "AddItem" method.Thanks!

    Hi Cletis,You can query the VB API using the EsbOtlQueryMembers function to get member that start with a specified member.. You will do an ESB_WILDSEARCH query type and will specify the string to search for in the pszString1 field of the ESB_PREDICATE_T argument to the function.Alternatively (or additionally), download the free source code for the EssQuery component that we give away on our website (www.appliedolap.com - technology downloads section). You should be able to use this code directly in your Excel code.. Note you may need to change the essbase api declarations to fit your version of Essbase (a pain I know.. This is the reason we created a entire web-service-based API for our ActiveOLAP product and eliminated the need for the Essbase client).Good Luck.. It was good seeing last week at the Nashville User Group meeting.TimTim TowApplied OLAP, Inc

  • Simple combo box question

    I have Flash MX 2004 Pro. I want to create a
    movie/graphic/button ( not sure which one yet) of a county
    (obviously from a state map) and I want to have all of the counties
    (over 40) listed in a Combo Box. I would like the Combo box to
    automatically be updated/populated every time I create a
    movie/graphic/button of a county. I would like to be able to click
    on a county name in the combo box and have the county highlighted.
    While the graphic part is doable, I am asking for help with the
    scripts.
    One more thing: I have a text box that I want to have data
    displayed only for the specific county. So I am thinking of
    creating a text box that is invisible in the State swf but will be
    viewable when the county is selected (mouse over or thru the combo
    box). Do I have to use the scripts to make it viewable when the
    movie is selected?
    Is this even possible with my version of Flash and if so,
    does anyone have some codes I can look at?
    Thanks.

    As far as the text goes, there are several ways to do that.
    Simplest way is to make the text visible when rolled over and
    invisible when rolled out. That way you get the text positioned and
    formated the way you want. It isn't the best method in terms of
    maintenance. A better method is have one text clip that you can
    position in relation to the (x,y) coordinates of the highlighted
    county and pull the text for the county from an array. The latter
    requires more script but is easier to go back and change since all
    you do is update an array.
    I just noticed a line in the onRollOut
    this[this._parent._name + "menu"].selectedIndex = 0;
    that will serve you no purpose whatsoever. I missed deleting
    that from the script I modified to post to you. It doesn't hurt
    anything since it targets nothing you have

  • While selecting value from combo box in one frame, based on the selection..

    Hi friends,
    can someone help me out on a issue as it follows:-
    iam developing an application where Iam using xsl,html,javascript and xml.
    There is no existense of Database at all. data is read from xml.
    now,
    In a window there are 3 frames. In the 1st frame combo box is there.
    Based on the selection in the combo box data will be displayed in the 2nd frame.
    now onchange or onselect methods not giving the expected result.
    actually,in the the xsl which is having 3 frames,the 1st and 3rd frame
    calling src="abc.xml" and src="abc.xml"which are static.
    but in the 2nd frame the data need to be changed dynamically.
    I have given frame name="frame_ExchangeDetails2" rows="3%" src="cc_marketWatch_02.xml"/>
    usually data dynamically comes from database.but here i have to refer xml file
    something like [window.href.location="abc.xml"]
    but the problem is when you refer supose:-
    <frame name="frame_ExchangeDetails2" rows="3%" src="cc_marketWatch_02.xml"/>
    the frame is having static page,though there are functions in javascript which are called in onload and onchange.which are not working.
    I have tried putting if condition like:-
    if(document.abc.fieldname.value=='6'
    {   window.location.href = "cc_custLookUpData-mobileno.xml";
    so that it could go to the repective page.
    but it is not working.
    so what should i do if I select from combo box in one frame and based on the selection xml/html page will be displayed in the 2nd frame.
    if anybody has google account i can forward the zip file so it will be easier to understand.
    Regards

    If you have rights to modify tabular model then, you can create a measure in your Tabular model which returns previous week and then use this measure in Pivot Table.
    Thanks,

            sportColumn.setCellEditor(new DefaultCellEditor(allStaff));
              // set so only one row can be selected at once
              relationTable.setAutoResizeMode( JTable.AUTO_RESIZE_OFF );
              relationTable.setSelectionMode(ListSelectionModel.SINGLE_SELECTION);
