Modify Layout of Listcube results when saved to local file
Is it possible to modify the layout of the results returned in listcube when I have the selected for the results to be returned via a file on my workstation?
Currently it is returning; Sales Vol, Sales Budget, Location, Material etc. I would like to change the layout to say Material, Location, Sales Vol, Sales Budget, etc. Is this possible using the return results to workstation file option in listcube?
Thanks, David
Hi Frank,
For some reason I don't have the "write to data file" icon at left panel as one of my data targets. I found the document below and on page 3 it illustrates that I should have the PC icon as one of my data targets so I may write to file however it is not available. I am currently working in a APO version 4.1. Is there any way to add/create this similar to the way a BI source system is created?

when saving my illustrator file to a pdf it doesnt show all the artwork ie boxes are hidden in the pdf or only showing part of them. Even some text is hidden. I have flattened the artwork so everything is in one layer. How can I fix this?
Hi John
I have indicated on the attached jpeg where the problem is, basically a line of text is missing at the top and part of the feeding diagram is missing. I created the artwork in different layer and then flattened. All text has been converted to outlines, however the areas being affected have no transparency, I have used solid fills or no fills. I get the same result when I export the file as a jpeg. Hope you can help. -
Is it possible when saving the psd file to have an automatic jpg file saved at the same time?
My work involves preparing images for printing lightboxes and window installations. My clients require to pre-approve the photos before printing.
I usually save my files as psd but since the files are very large in this format I usually save another copy as a jpg file that has a much smaller file size. This makes it possible for me to add these to a presentation and and send them to my client.
Is it possible when saving the psd file to have an automatic jpg file saved at the same time? Or do I still have to do this manually? If you save the document manually as a PSD file in Phtoshop not from within an Action, Script, Plugin or Droplette. You may be able to write a Photoshop that would do as save as Jpeg, And you should be able trigger its execution by setting up a Script Save event using the Script event manager. When You do a manual save the script should be triggered. I wrote may be able to for I have never tried to write that script or set up a Script Manager Save event. I have only use open events.

I save an Illustrator file on mac, and when doing so, I create a Tag for it.
Whenever I make some changes and save the file again, the tag (or tags) disappear. Why?

Indesign CS4 "forgets" file name when saving as Postcript file.
Like the title says Indesign CS4 "forgets" file name when saving as Postcript file.
Example:
I open up indesign CS4 and open up a file called "test5". Then I go to the print menu and save it as a postscript file. Once the save as dialog box comes up it wont say "test5" but it uses whatever file name I used last time I created a PDF.
I want indesign to recognize that when I create a postscript file that I want it to be named the same way as my file that is open at that moment. Changing the file name every time is not bad when they are called "test5" etc but here at this company we use super long file names and it's a pain to change it every time.
Funny thing: Some machines here do it the way in the example but other machines will do it the correct way by using the same name in the save as box.
Any suggestions on how to fix this? If something is not clear just ask!How about this - it's a workaround, I can't change ID or your system.
I'm big on EXACT filenames also, case and space sensative. Do a "Save As" before printing - the file name should be correct and highlighted, ctrl+c copy, escape/cancel the Save As. Paste in the filename during the Save as Postscript File. -
What happened to all the compressors when saving a wav file?
When saving a wav file in Soundbooth CS3 you had your choice of 7 different compressors. In Soundbooth CS4 you can only save a wav file uncompressed. My office has to save wav files using the CCITT u-Law compressor for uploading to Verizon's VoIP system when we create auto-attendant messages.
I could download a program that will save audio files into other formats, including the CCITT u-Law format, but I would prefer to just use Soundbooth and copying the CompilerWave.prm file from CS3 into CS4 doesn't work. Is there any way to get these compressors back without having to use another program?Hi,
Several of the WAV compressors available in Soundbooth CS3, including the CCITT u-Law, will be available soon. There were some issues with including them in CS4, but those problems have been resolved. I apologize for the inconvenience. On the upside, the codecs are now faster and several bugs were addressed.
I'll post an announcement here when this is available, and I believe it will show up in the Adobe Updater tool.

Procedure for Integrating Alpha Channel when saving as .dds file
Hello,
I'll try to keep this brief but that may be tough...
One project I use Photoshop CS4 for is painting aircraft used with Microsoft Flight Simulator X (FSX). Here is some background for folks who aren't familiar with this.
Each aircraft is downloaded as a "Paint Kit". The kits look much like the "trees" that plastic aircraft model kit pieces come attached to (see picture below).
I paint and add layers onto the kit until the aircraft resembles the design I chose. The paint kit includes a background, base parts usually in white, and an assortment of layers adding physical wear, shading, lines and rivets you see on actual aircraft.
Additionally, the kit includes an RGB Alpha Channel and Specular Maps. In this application, the Alpha channel provides the reflectivity or gloss on the aircraft paint. The Specular maps provide a sheen much like the subtle reflections you see from a metal flake paint job when the sun hits it directly.
Once all painting and manipulation is complete, the kit is "cut" into specific sizes. Once the kit is cut, each section is saved as a DDS file using NVidia tools. The resulting DDS files are placed into folders within the main FSX program folder. The FSX program "assembles" the sections and processes the different layers and channels resulting in aircraft that are incredibly detailed and realistic.
My problem is I don't know how to properly integrate and preserve the Alpha channel during the "Flatten Image" and when saving the file as a dds file. As you can see in the "Layers" section in the picture, the Alpha channel is already made. I just don't know what to do with it to preserve it and ensure the reflectivity it provides is visible in the final product.
Any help is appreciated - what I need to know isn't what the alpha does, but how to properly integrate it into the final product. I've searched for this info for the last several days, but I've had no luck in finding specific information on how to do that. I believe it's one of those procedures that is so simple, everyone knows how to do it. I guess I'm the only idiot on the planet that doesn't know how... .
The paint kit can be downloaded at http://library.flight1.net/wp-content/plugins/download-monitor/download.php?id=1467 if you need it to answer my question or if you're just curious about it.
Thanks for your time and consideration.
MarkI know nothing about Nvidia DDS file format or 3D. From you screen capture you have no Alpha Channel. You do have a normal layer named Alpha Channel with its visibility turn off. Why are you flatting ? When I use Save As and use the file type pull-down and select DDS format to save I get the Nvidia DDS save Dialog that I do not know how to use or understand the buttons options or pull-down menu items. The file instruction and its background make no does not seem to match up with the parts.
I think you have to read the documentation for the Nvidia DDS plug-in. and the normal map plug-in https://developer.nvidia.com/nvidia-texture-tools-adobe-photoshop -
Upload Center 2010 error when saving Powerpoint 2010 file to SharePoint 2013
I'm experiencing an issue when attempting to save a Powerpoint 2010 file to our SharePoint 2013 farm. If a user opens the file in Edit mode, when saving the file Upload Center 2010 complains the upload failed, and PowerPoint 2010 displays a message
"Upload Failed The server version of this file was updated by another author" and 2 buttons are displayed "Keep My Version" and "Keep Server Version". This is incorrect though, because I confirmed on the server end
the changes have been made. If a user keeps hitting save, sometimes it won't fail during the upload.
If a user opens a file in Read Only mode, then clicks on the Edit button in Powerpoint 2010 and saves the changes, they are then prompted by the error "Refresh Required This file needs to be refreshed with updates. Click Save to refresh
and retry uploading your changes." Once again this is incorrect, as the changes have already been made in SharePoint.
I've recreated this error on multiple workstations, have tried re-installing Upload Center 2010, and have tried complete repairs of Office 2010. The occur continues to persist. This only occurs with Powerpoint 2010 though, and none of the other
Office 2010 products. I feel this is a bug in Upload Center 2010 with SharePoint 2013, because when I save from PowerPoint 2010 through a WebDAV connection over file explorer, it saves fine without any issue.
Has anyone run into this problem before? Below are some screenshots of the errors.
Here's the error when opening in Edit mode:

Images Issue when saving an illustrator file as pdf
Hi,
I have been suffering these couple of days with the pdfs I save from my illustrator CS5 multi page file. It is a brochure that I designed using many images that I adjusted in Photoshop to CMYK & 300 dpi & embedded in ai. I used some drop shadows for some images & have some transparent vectors & gradient fills in the pages.
The pdfs I save open very normally on my pc, but the issues appear for the client. He gets some images missing in some pages (the ones that got the gradient transparency). The pages also tend not to load completely & stay blurred. He also got the “drawing error” message.
I tried to make sure all color modes are the same_ used the US web coated SWOP (default)
He still gets missing images!
The same file I sent to a friend of mine, it opened normally! but informed me that Adobe considers the file with “special features”.
I had to export the pages to jepgs so that he gets to see the design.
I tried to flatten the gradient transparent vectors but also used the downsampling for the images when saving the pdf & used the “Zip” for compression to reduce the size… what did he get??? no images at all in all the pages.
I started seeing pdf nighmares last night :S really.
Please help :’(
ThanksWe all have Acrobat Professional reader 7.0.
I guess he has Windows but tried to open the file from his ipad too. -
Warning message when saving a ppt file
Hi I have a ppt file that I have added some presenter features (audio etc). When I save the file I get this message. have tried saving to a new file but......get the same warning. Has anyone encountered this before and can advise what is causing it? My version of Presenter is 6.1
thanks in advanceI am having the same problem, (Presenter 7). and I have since I installed this add-in a month ago, honestly I am wondering why people use this product. Others around me are not having this issue so I don't know what is going on.
I have called Adobe 3 times,
I tried uninstalling and re-installing Presenter - no luck
I tried disabling and enabling the add-in - no luck
I updated to version 7.0.5, http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/product.jsp?product=153&platform=Windows (make sure you install 7.0.1, then 7.0.2, then 7.0.5 in this order) still had problems - but I did just find this post from 2009, and I am going to try starting a new presentation (updates would not help a current PP), which really is not great because I have a 60 slide class at this time.

Vector elements are randomly disappearing when saving a PDF file
I wondered if anyone could help us with this.
We make PDF files from Illustrator all the time to send to our clients for approval. We've found that occasionally random elements of the document will not be embedded within the PDF file.
There seems to be no consistency with this, an outlined word on one side of the artwork will vanish one time, it'll be fine for the next 10 iterations, but then a totally different element will drop off on a different part of the document the 11th time I PDF it.
All seems to be fine within the Illustrator document, layer/item visibilty is ok, overprint settings are correct etc.
I have imported an affected PDF file back into illustrator to see if the element was gone or just not appearing, and they're completely absent from the file.
This seems to be particularly happening with items that are coloured with spot colours or white elements sitting on top of spot colours, but this is not certain.
This problem is very concerning for us as we deal with quite large packaging files and it comes that we can't trust the files that we're sending to our clients to be accurately representational of the actual documents. We can't be spending the time to be having to check every individual element on a PDF file every time we make the slightest amend to a file.
Thanks in advance for any help you guys and girls can give. What pdf preset are you using (eg: smallest file size). Are you mac or PC, the pc works pretty good printing to the pdf writer. During your 10 iterations, are you making any changes to the files, or are you saving the same file over and over and the result is different each time. What happens if you go to another computer and try to make a pdf form the same file?
You large sized files, scale a troublesome one down to fit on smaller paper size (eg: letter or tabloid) and make a pdf. Are your PDFs taking a long time to make? Try cleaning up nonused spot colors, and making them global.
I make lots of PDfs and can remember 2 cases where things were acting funny, but resolved this
Embedding a placed 1 bit tiff that was being colorized to a spot color - the pdf span forever and never made itself prior to embedding
Creating outlines on a complex appearance stacked logo, where the corners were missing triangles. -
How do you change the default save as directory when saving a PDF file to your hard drive?
This is the on-line help instructions on this site:
Downloading a PDF file to your hard drive
You can download a PDF file to the hard drive from a web page's link. Downloading PDF files doesn't require the ActiveX plug-in file to be installed. (If you want to open and view the PDF file after downloading it, you must have Acrobat, Adobe Reader, or Acrobat Reader installed.)
To download a PDF file from a link:
1. Right-click the link to a PDF file, and then choose Save Target As from the pop-up menu.
2. In the Save As dialog box, select a location on your hard drive, and then click Save.
My issue: I want to save several pdf files (from the Adobe Reader in my browser) one at a time and each time it defaults the save as directory to the desktop and I have to go looking for the directory I last saved a pdf file in. I got lots of directories and I wish I could change the default setting for the save as directory. Just a minor thing but irritating as other programs usually will allow you to switch the default save as directory to one of your choosing. There is not a way to set the default location from all the forums i searched in the last couple days.

When savind a PDF file, it saves multiple of the same document, why? Are there settings to adjust or what am I doing wrong?
This might help - I'm not sure:
Go to System Preferences (under the Apple logo in the menu bar). Click "General" and check "Always close windows when quitting an application." -
Why is Photoshop crashing when saving a TARGA file after a PSD
I am a graphic designer and having a problem since the company I work for recently upgraded to CS5.
Here's the workflow:
1. Open a RGB mode PSD template in Photoshop
2. Find imagery on the internet, through stock photo banks or google
3. Drag images onto Photoshop canvas or open file in photoshop and drag into template
4. Save a PSD file on a server
5. Save a TGA file on the desktop, sometimes with an alpha channel as 32 bit or flattened 24 bit
Here's the problem:
After I save the PSD file photoshop with the file still open, I go to SAVE AS --> Rename the file--> Choose TGA File --> Choose save to desktop --> Click Save. Immediately after clicking save before the TGA Option Box (16, 24, 32 Bit) shows up, Photoshop crashes. It completely quits with an error that photoshop unexpectedly quit. We never had this problem with CS3 and we have 5 workstations with CS5 and all have this problem. Somedays it might not happen at all sometimes it happens 20+ times in a day.
Strategies I'm considering:
-"Purge All" after saving your psd file before you make your alpha channel and save the targa file.
-"Turn Of Font Preview", this is a setting under photoshop preferences
-"Adjust Cache Levels and Tile Size", this is a setting under photoshop preferences->performance
-Make sure computer is not set to sleep at night so that it can run the internal maintenance script.
Is anyone else having this problem? Does anyone have any thoughts on why this could be happening and how to fix it.Here is the crash report.

File name generated when saving a process file
When I choose to save a file (save as for instance) I get an odd
looking default file name with a ~ in it such as; ne6e29~1.l4p. Why?Leo,
I agree, that is an odd file name. I am not sure where the "~" is coming from. I am using Lookout 5.1 on a Windows XP machine. If I open a new process and use the default process name "Process1", the same name is appears in the "File name:" field of the "Save Process File As..." window when I navigate to File >> Save As. Even if I choose another name for my process, that name is then used as the default file name when I go to "File >> Save As."
If you save your process with another name, such as "myprocess.l4p", does the same default name appear when you go to "File >> Save As"?
I have seen the "~" character used in other applications when a file name exceeds the maximum length but I do not recall having that problem on newer OSes like Windows 2000
or XP. I tried to save a process with a really long random file name on my machine and I was still unable to reproduce the behavior you are seeing.
What version of Lookout are you using and what OS are you running. If your process is running on an older OS or you are using an older version of Lookout, it may be that the file name is limited to fewer characters.
