Modify photos to look like they're from the 80's

Check out this page. It almost looks like all the photos shown in the middle are 20-30 years old. Is there a way to get close to this in photoshop?

Thanks,

Judging by the mens' attire, these photos are not 20 years old.
They appear to be processed in Camera RAW, which you can do to any JPG or TIF (RAW file not required).
Lots of saturation, lots of mid tone contrast (clarity), edge vignetting, and nice edge effects. Not sure where/how the edge effects were done, and couldn't point you to a quick method. It seems that each RGB channel was "effected" separately to create the look.

My IPad2 just got fixed at the Apple Store, but it looks like they loaded up the latest iOS. When i got it home and mated it to ITunes(MacBook Pro), I was prompted to load the latest OS into my main computer which now runs on OS X version 10.5.8...how do i get the latest OS so i can get the latest iTunes and am i looking at problems with the MacBook buy leap frogging so many OS's?

    Buy Snow Leopard here: http://store.apple.com/us/product/MC573/mac-os-x-106-snow-leopard
Install it, update to OS X 10.6.8 using Software Update, and then you'll be all set with iOS 7.

  • Problem with slideshow in iPhoto. Photos look like they are all the right way up but when in slideshow action some are sideways.

even though all photos look like they are the right way up, when the slideshow commences, some of them display sideways. I have tried re-rotating them - and still have same problem. Help please - need it for Saturday night !

What version of iPhoto are you using?  Are you creating the slideshow directly from an album or are you using the slideshow mode?
As a test launch iPhoto with the Option key held down and create a new, test library.  Import some photos and test to see if the same problem persists. Does it?

We have 5 devices connected to the same apple ID. My kids want to text from their iPod but when they do, it shows up on their friends devices that it was sent from my email or cell phone #. Is there anyway to fix this?

  • I can not get the pop out menu from the tools to work.  It looks like they are not loaded

Can someone help me know how to get the tool pop out menu to work.  It looks like they are not loaded.

You do have to click and hold down on any tool icon with a small triangle in the lower right.
The second method is to right-click on the tool.

  • Pictures look like they transfer via iTunes app window - but don't appear on iOS device

My pictures look like they transferred to iPad (the new) or iPhone (4) in iTunes (on the App page). I can see the files in the little app file share/transfer window, but the pictures do not show up in the iPhoto App on either iOS device.
Tried deleting the ios iphoto folder mentioned in a different post - did not help.
Deleted all pictures from the app window, and then synched, then tried putting in half as many (mostly because I didn't want to wait for a whole bunch to transfer like the first time ... still showing up in app window, still taking a long time to synch and saying that it is loading, and app percentage of disk space grows accordingly on device (in itunes monitor window). Go to iPhoto on device .... Only pictures are the ones taken by that device.
Photos in the sunflower still work like always, just can't use the cool iPhoto on any of my pictures not taken by the ipad or iphone!!!! GRRRRR!!!!!

This is happening on both the new iPad and iPhone 4.
I wrote under time pressure yesterday,  here is more complete history.
purchased iPhoto app on the New iPad, then plugged in, launched iTunes, went to App tab, went to File Sharing - selected iPhoto, Clicked Add... button, selected photos/iphoto ... used daisyA to select all and clicked open.
All photo names appeared in the iPhoto Documents box. Then clicked Sync button (3 hours later) Sync complete - all photos listed in iPhoto Documents box in iTunes. Memory indicator shows application consumption of memory has grown appropriately for having added all those photos.
eject and disconnect iPad .... no photos appear in iTunes except for those taken by the device. Did same  procedure on iPhone 4 .... same result. I can group, edit, view, and tinker with the photos taken by the device (ie iPhoto working as it should), however I can't see any of the photos from my long time iPhoto library not taken on this device that the iTunes file share window on the app tab says are there (and app memory usage also indicates are probably there).
Turned off both devices and then re-started -- no help
Soft reset both devices (dimple & power key, hold till restart happens) - even though the power down / power up should do at least the same thing.  No help
Deleted iPod Photo Cache in iPhoto app (home/pictures/right click iphoto show package contents ... )
    Synched again - no help
Deleted all pictures listed on app tab in file share window for iPhoto iOS app.
Synched - indicator for amount of memory used by apps decreases appropriately
Still can see and use photos taken by device and no others
Powered down then re- started device again.
Plugged in and open iTunes, use file share window on app tab to add just a dozen pictures this time (instead of all).  Then sync - Still cannot see the pictures in the iPhoto app on the device .... file share window on app tab of iTunes says they are there. Indicator for memory useage says they are there - progress bar during sync says they are being added, I just cant see them in the iPhoto iOS app when I click on the Photos selector in the iOS iPhoto app.
Photos are on the iPad and synching with the ipad from iphoto into the sunflower app that comes with the devices. Just won't go into iPhoto!

  • Some songs will not sync to my iPhone 4s, looks like they are loading but they never do.

Recently I downloaded some new music and now when I try to sync to my iPhone 4S none of the songs i downloaded are syncing to my phone and even some of the songs that were on my phone are not anymore. On iTunes on "On this phone" or whatever the songs are there but it looks like they are loading even after the sync is over. I would really like some help cause this is really annoying... Thanks!

Same here, I have a new iPhone 5S and it will not allow me to put any music on it unless I have purchased it from iTunes, even music that I own and have ripped from the CD will not upload to the phone. Really Bloody Annoying!
    Should have stayed with Android!

  • How can I adjust the contrast of video on my MacBook Pro Retina so they don't look like they were filmed with an old sock over the lens?

I'd like to watch movies and TV shows, downloaded from iTunes or Amazon, on my MacBook Pro Retina, but they all look like they were filmed with an old sock over the lens. Daytime sequences look muddy, and night time sequences are incomprehensible with anything but the brightest objects rendered as black. I can watch the same files on my old MacBook Air and everything looks right, but no manner of tweaking seems to let me watch movies on my new machine.
I've tried adjusting the gamma. It's a bit better when gammas is set to 1.0, but I can't seem to set a gamma less than one. I tried using the Accessibility Contrast control, but it just lowers the contrast, swallowing my desktop into the dark abyss. I tried Applecare, but they don't have a clue. I tried the Apple Store. The "genius" confirmed that it is indeed impossible to watch movies shot anywhere but in the brightest sunlight on a MacBook Pro Retina, and it isn't just my machine, but every similar model in the store. He arranged for someone who really understands color profiles to give me a call, but Apple seems to have dropped the ball on this.
Is there some tool for stretching out the darker grays in Apple video? I don't want calibration. My impression is that my display, like the dozens I checked at the Apple Store are calibrated to make all dimmer grays appear completely black. I want uncalibration so I can actually see what is going on in the movies even if something is in a light shadow or shot at night. Hollywood has lots of trained technicians who can light and shoot night scenes that are quite comprehensible. I've watched a number of such scenes on my old MacBook Air. Now, I'd like to enjoy their artistry on my MacBook Pro Retina.

http://www.ifixit.com/ has directions for do it yourself.  Also look at PRAM battery instructions, as sometimes this can fix optical drive issues.
You can get external or internal drives from http://www.macsales.com/
I also suggest in the future, take care of this problem while it is still under warranty. It may have cost you nothing.

  • How can I send an email so it looks like it's from my business domain?

I own the domain example.com and I have set up email forwarding to my personal email address. [email protected] forwards to [email protected] I would like to be able to respond to clients and have it seem like it comes from the [email protected] address. How might I do this? Thanks for all the help!

In order for Thunderbird to be able to proffer the address as a from: address, the address has to be set up in Thunderbird as an incoming address. If it is not possible to set it up as a truly self-standing email address, then you could add it as an identity on a working account.
The remaining part of this is to look at what is being used to send your messages. As an example, if you send using a gmail server, the messages will appear to come from the gmail address associated with the gmail smtp "account" regardless of what address you put into the message itself. Whilst gmail is unusual and perhaps unique in this respect, it does mean that this possibility should be considered.
Another is that some mail providers don't allow "foreign" from: addresses to be used in messages. I have encountered this is the past with two UK ISPs, (bt and freeseeve) whose smtp servers allowed only addresses provided by the ISP, or at least permitted other addresses only when they'd been registered with the ISP-provided mail account. These are clumsy and somewhat naïve attempts to inhibit rogue smtp servers installed on end-users' computers by malware.
In my own case, I lease a domain which apart from a www address and the ability to set up other ad-hoc addresses for ftp and webcams and the like, includes a bundle of email addresses for my family. However, the "real" address is a somewhat clumsy formulation, and some jiggery pokery with a ddns service (zoneedit) allows mx records to be set up so that messages addressed to my domain-connected address to find their way to the "real" accounts. Since I can send a message to my domain-based account, I can set it up in Thunderbird, so it is automatically offered as a candidate from: address when creating or replying to an email message.
In practice, all messages are sent by your smtp server, but are allowed to declare a from: address (and also a separate reply-to address, but that's another matter.) It is possible in your case that the registrar or domain provider also offers an smtp server, but it won't necessarily give your domain as the origin, instead giving the domain of the webhost or registrar or whatever. Choice of smtp often is influenced by other factors, such as can you use it when away from home or your place of business?

  • Makeing a person look like they are standing on the ground (instead of floating)

I have a picture of a sidewalk. I added a layer with a person standing there talking on the phone, but the person looks like they are floating (and not standing on the street layer).
I can not find where it tells how to fix this.
    Thanks
    Bob

Jammer is correct-shadows often give an image "depth" and a more realistic look.
    Here is one technique.
I am assuming the person on the phone is on its own layer with a transparent background.
Copy this person to a new layer.
Select a greyish color and paint over the image. I usually "lock" the layer to keep the brush from wandering.
Use the Transform Tool on either Skew or Distort (often have to use both) grab one of the corners and pull down. You are trying to get the layer to lie flat. This takes some practice.
When you get the shadow layer where you want you, you can try different blending modes and opacity levels to make it blend better.

the type face for the words in emails looks like they are in italics and not strong and clear like internet explorer...t

Be patient. This isn't a chat, but a forum.
    Not too technical, but basically:
    bottom layer:  background
    middle layer:  frame
    top layer:       dog
Use a transparent canvas larger than the layers.

  • I have a problem with mail autofilling info email addresses. Emails sent to me the from looks like this: Holiday in the United States email address . I have no idea what this Holiday in the United States is...How can I fix/change to my name?

I have an irritating problem with mail autofilling info in email addresses. Emails sent to me the from looks like this: Holiday in the United States <my email address>. I have no idea what this Holiday in the United States is or how it got to be there...How can I fix/change to my name?
I fixed the To: autofilling incorrectly by deleting my email address from the Previous Recipients List, but is there a way to stop that from coming up on emails that I receive?

Have you checked your Mac address book? If your email is saved somewhere in your address book with the name "Holidays in the United States" it might be adding the name automatically in Mac Mail.
    Alternatively, try this:
Delete an Email Address from Auto-Complete in Mac OS X Mail
To remove an email address from the auto-complete list in Mac OS X Mail:
Start typing the recipient's address or name in a new message.
Select the desired address from the auto-complete list as if you'd compose an email to them.
Click the small down arrow in the recipient.
Select Remove from Previous Recipients List from the menu.
You can also search for the unwanted address directly in the previous recipients list:
Select Window | Previous Recipients from the menu in Mac OS X Mail.
Highlight the address you want to remove. You can highlight multiple addresses by holding down the Command key.
    Click Remove from List.

  • How do I make my email look like it's from my main address?

    Hey Gang,
I use me.com email to get it pushed to my phone, ipad, etc.
When sending an email, how can I make it look like it's from my "real" email address, and not my me.com address?
    Thanks,
    Rob

You can't: the iCloud server won't allow it.

You should be able to do this via the iPad directly.  Open the Photos application and the forward arrow, then select all of the photos you want to delete and click the red delete button.

Jim and Rob, thank you for taking your time to respond. I have a mac & a pc with 4 gigs of RAM in each. I originally experienced the problem on my mac and afterwards the same thing happened on the pc. I shoot with a canon 5d mark iii and never had this problem before, but what I'm realizing is that I'm running out of space on both the mac & the pc. After an afternoon of shooting today, I filled up a 32-gig card, so my TB hard drives are filling up ridiculously fast. I need to drop some load off both drives and reboot. Hope this will resolve the issue as I really don't think it's a canon-LR problem (I'm using the most updated 5.6 version). Again, thanks for your input. I'll keep you posted.
