Modify picture frame in book

How do I modify the aspect ratio of a frame in a book? For example if I have a picture 3:1, I want a frame 3:1. iPhoto insists that all pictures are 4:3 or 3:4, so only a part of my 3:1 picture can be included in a book. I need to modify the frame in the book to adapt to the picture underneath.
How do I arrange the frames on a page manually? I want to choose the location of the picture frames, and which overlays which. The default pages in iPhoto are terribly restrictive.
Thanks! - Andy

Thank you! Right click doesn't do it, but CTRL-Right Click does. However the "Fit to Frame" is grayed out.... My photo is long vertically and short horizontally (a tall Christmas Tree, without the clutter of everything around it). If I can get the photo to fit, then it would fit the photo with black space on the left and right to fit into the frame. Don't know why it's grayed out; any advice would be most helpful.
That menu has sent to front/back, which works fine -- and that's a big help on its own.
I did send feedback to Apple a few weeks ago, when I ran into this problem. I've had no response from Apple.
Thank you! - Andy

  • How to change the picture frame size in Lightroom 5 Book

I would like to control the actual picture frame size when making a Book in Lightroom 5. Or else know the sizes of the different picture frames provided by choosing the different page layouts. That way I can either change the picture frame dimensions to accomodate each photo or change the image size to fit in the offered picture frame. I find that using the software as is winds up cropping the images in unwanted ways. Modifying the picture frame would be my preferred alternative. Appreciate any ideas

    Hi again Tony,
I have been using Adobe Photoshop 7, Photoshop Elements, Perfect Photo Suite, Photo Studio, etc., changing Image size, placing a picture on a page and then, do a simple last minute size adjustment by using the arrows to stretch or shrink it in place. Things would be a lot simpler if I could do the same thing with the cells in Lightroom 5. Cell pad adjustments do not fill the bill.
I think we’ve pretty much concluded this exchange. Thanks again for your effort.

  • Difficulty displaying CS4 and CS5 modified pics on a digital picture frame

Any pic I mod with CS4 or CS5 no longer displays on my digital picture frame!
    The originals display fine.
Modified ones are rejected as an unsupported format.
    Any clues?
    Thanks
    Bill

The mods can be as simple as resizing.
The files are always saved as JPG.
The problem only started within the last few months as "older" pics display fine.
It occurs on my desktop (vista) as well as my laptop (windows7)

  • Picture frame stroke effects and instant alpha to book projects created in aperture?

Is there a way to add do the following in aperture?
    Picture frame effects
    Reflection effects
    Instant alpha.
Seems funny that I can find it in keynote, pages and iWeb, but not in this pro software.

    nice.
but some advice is wrong, e.g. you miss the correct aspect ratio needed, or to switch-off KB, no 'freeze' needed, etc ...
read my advice I gave a few years ago on my site:

  • How to change "Object Causes Wrap" and a "Picture Frame" as a default properties when importing images in Autor

When I place images in iBook Author, they are automatically assigned these properties: "Object Causes Wrap" and a "Picture Frame" stroke.
I don't want that and couldn't find where can I change it in the Preferences. Anyone has an idea?

I've sent a feature request for a new version of Author:
When I place images in iBook Author, they are automatically assigned these properties: "Object Causes Wrap" and a "Picture Frame" stroke.
It would be great if I could be able to change it in the Preferences to "No wrap" and "No Frame" so I don't have to manually adjust every single image of my book - there are lots of them.
It would be really nice if Author implements "Layer's" concept like almost all graphic programs like Photoshop, Flash, Illustrator, etc.

  • Picture frame gets moved/resized during preview with iPad

    Hi Guys:
This happens to a certain type of layout:
Add a gallery widget to a page
add only one image to the gallery widget
Draw a rectangle shape in the page
Select the rectangle, open the inspector, and add a picture frame decoration to the rectangle.
Make the rectangle "Not filled" with any color, therefore we get a picture frame
Put the picture frame on top of the gallery widget
The gallery widget looks like an ordinary photo, decorated with a picture frame
    The problem:
The aforementioned layout looks good in iBookAuthor, but when preivewing the book in iPad, the picture frame gets moved (or resizied), therefore it doesn't match the gallery widget.
after the preview, widgets in the iBookAuthor remains good.
    My question:
I think it is a bug of either the preview process, or the widgets. if this is the case. I'd deprecate this layout in my book and won't use it anymore.
    Further thoughts:
I noticed that some type of picture frames are not in high resolution, when previewing the book in iPad, tap to maximize an interactive image with picture frame decorated, it is kind of obverious that the picture frame doesn't have high resolution.
Any suggestion will be appreciated, thank you.

What happens if you export an .ibooks file, then move it to iTunes and sync to your iPad (delete all previews of that same book first)...?
Previews are just simplified PDFs and shouldn't be trusted to layout and work the same as a final book.

  • Picture frame not showing photos

I sync my IPad with photos in Aperture. Recently I scanned a couple of my old photos and imported them as JPEG in Aperture and synced them with IPad. I can see these photos in the Photo application, but when I select the album with scanned photos in Picture Frame, they dont show up. That is In Settings I can see the album but when I play the Picture Frame these scanned photos do not show up.
Other photos (non scanned) show up fine.
Any ideas why Picture Frame is not showing scanned photos?
    TIA

  • Picture frame not showing up in sample through store

My book just got approved for the store, which was quite exciting! However, when i downloaded the sample, the picture frames I had used around the images aren't there. The images are all there, but not the frames. The frames can be seen in the thumbnail pages at the bottom and for a split second when you select that page and it expands. But then the frames disappear. Has anybody else had this problem? Does anybody have any suggestions for how to resolve this?
I had done a lot of testing beforehand to make sure that the book worked okay, including not only the preview in ibooks author but exporting the book and placing into intunes as has been suggested elsewhere in the forum, and it looked good there too. So I am a bit confused and concerned.
    Thanks!

  • Use of digital movie picture in iphoto book. Can it be done?

    Mac OS X 10.3.9   Mac OS X (10.3.9)

    Welcome to the Apple Discussions.
As Terence stated you can create a still jpg from any frame in the movie. The resolution of that frame will be 640 x 480 pixels. This is way to small to print at a reasonable quality. At 180 dip the printed size would be 3.5 x 2.66 inches. You'll get a low resolution warning for nearly all the frame sizes in the book but it you really want that picture in the book you can use it. It'll just be grainy.

  • Images with Picture Frame stroke not printing?

Does anyone have a known solution to an issue in which an image with a stroke of "Picture Frame" applied will not print?
    More details...
    - Created pages document (originally in '08 version of Pages, then upgraded to Pages '09 to see if that fixed it -- it did not)
    - Printed document in both both Pages version. All assets within document printed correctly with exception of photos that have stroke of "Picture Frame" applied.
    - Printed to PDF. Opened and printed from Preview. Again, all assets within document printed correctly with exception of photos with stroke of "Picture Frame."
    - Tried modifying print settings to "fit in page" as well as color correction. Same symptoms applied.
    - One solution (that's not the desired behavior but should be acknowledged) -- removing stroke allows images to print.
    Other:
    - Problem is reproducible across both versions of pages.
    - Problem may be same as seen in other searches found here: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3005994?start=0&tstart=0 & here: http://forums.cnet.com/7723-21571_102-378574/pages-09-printing-problem/ & here: http://www.mac-forums.com/forums/images-graphic-design-digital-photography/23980 6-framed-pictures-wont-print-iwork-pages.html
    Set-up:
    - iMac running 10.7.3
    - Started with iWork '08, updated to Pages '09
    - HP LaserJet CP1025nw
    Any advice much appreciated!

Thanks for all your help, fruhulda.
    Tried:
    deleting plist
    uninstalling Pages
    trying a different account
    updating firmware
    trying a different printer
The only thing that works -- which also worked for you -- was something other than this printer. And even with a firmware update, it's not working.
I'd say this is an HP CP1025nw problem, which kind of hurts given it's a newer printer for us.
Suppose it's best to consider this closed and unsolved.

  • How to delete the photoes in the picture frame

I deleted all the photoes, but they still show in the picture frame. How to delete them?

If you have any synced photos on your iPad the only way to delete those is by syncing again with iTunes... Either sync an empty photo folder or unselect the photos folder from the photos tab in iTunes and sync again.
Are you sure that you are not using Photos from your Photo Stream? Go to Settings>Picture Frame and make sure that there are no albums, or photo stream photos to choose from.

  • How can I add a picture to my book once it's layed out?

I spent a couple of hours creating a book and then realized that I didn't have a key picture in my event folder.
Is there a way to add a picture to the book once it has already been created? Or do I have to add the picture
to the folder and start all over again? I am using iPhoto 08.

Drag them from an event or an album to the book project and place them where you want in the book

  • I no longer have the ability to use my IPad at work as a digital picture frame after the upgrade. This was the main reason I bought a second iPad for my business. Apparently this feature is no longer available. Is there an app that would work the same?

Is there an app that will act as a digital picture frame ( slide show ) when in screen saver mode? IOS7 no longer has this feature.this is very upsetting as it is one of the main reasons I bought an iPad for my store.

You still have the option of using the slideshow feature in the Photos app.  It's not in the lock screen anymore, but it is stll available there.

  • Macbook Pro connecting to Sync Pix digital picture frame? Help!!

I have a late 2008 UMBP. My mother and I bought a Sync Pix digital picture frame that we are giving my grandmother for Mother's Day. The picture frame says it is Mac and PC compatible, but when I plug in the picture frame using a USB port it does not show up on my desktop. It has shown up one time, but has since disappeared and can not get it back on my desktop. I have tried both USB ports on my computer, and both ports on my father's late 08 UMBP as well. I can see it in Disk Utility, but can not drag or drop photos. I just need to drag over some photos to it so I can ship it as fast as I can to get to her by Mother's Day. Any help would definitely be appreciated! Thanks in advance!

Mea Culpa, the subject should read "Does NOT recognize picture frame."

  • Export to PDF, loss of shadows + picture frames

I like to use Pages features like shadows and picture frames on photos (using Inspector > Graphic). I then export my Pages document to PDF to send for professional printing, but when the PDF is opened on Windows machines at the printer, the shadows are gone, and the photo inside the picture frame is totally missing. Some of the picture frames will stay in the PDF without the photo, and some will completely disappear along with the photos. I have confirmed this when viewing on a friend's PC also.
I've tried both standard Pages exporting AND printing to PDF from the print dialog box, both fail.
I searched the forum high and low and was pretty surprised to find no one else discussing this issue. Any suggestions on how to work around this and preserve the shadows and picture frame treatments on PDFs viewed on Windows machines?
(Note: I have already tried converting the PDF to a JPG or TIFF file using Preview, and that essentially works, but there is enough loss of DPI to cause concern at the printer, and besides, its just not ideal to print professionally from those formats).
Also it would be amazing if there were a printing company out there who printed color & full bleed jobs directly from Pages files on their Mac- anyone know of one? That would solve the whole issue of having to fumble around preparing files for PC viewing. (Oh if it were only a Mac world)...

I agree with kirbot -- Apple includes nice templates that are obviously meant for professional printing in reasonably large quantities. Regardless, there's no good reason I can think of why Pages' PDFs are not truly WYSIWYG in their output. That shadows and other things are not exported as part of the PDF is a really dumb idea on Apple's part.
Just ran into this issue myself and had to ditch all the drop shadows in my brochure in order for the files to work with my online printer.
