Modify source system

Hi gurus,
We made a system copy from BW 3.5 Production to a new non productive copy in order to do an upgrade later.
Now we want to connect this new system with R3 Development and we are experience some problems. What we want is to modify(not delete because it will delete all the infoproviders as well, or at least is what we have heard) the existing source system in RSA1, which is right now connected to PRD, with the DEV system.
Also we have R3 DEV connected to BW DEV and we have to keep this connection.

You need to adjust Ports accordingly. Check with your Basis team..

  • Modify Source System during transport

    Hi all,
I have an oracle source system set in BWD called <dbsid>D and the same on BWP called <dbsid>P.
I'd like that source system been modify while transporting request between BWD and BWP ?
    S/O can explains me ?
    Thanks in advance,

Hey, in RSA1, tools, there is a selection for "Source System Mapping". If you don't have access, ask BASIS folks. They always have access. Go there and give the respective names for your Oracle database. While transporting BI will automatically do this for DataSources, etc.

  • How to modify Source system in DS

    Folks,
I have a Data Source with old Source System for one of my InfoObject. I need to load the new master Data for this InfoObject. But I am unable to change the Old source system to new source system as the Pencil is diabled?
Do I need to reinstall the InfoObject from BI content and do this from scratch..??
    Any Help please..
    Thank You!

You cannot change source system directly this way.
Depending on what is your situation there are 2 workarounds:
Case 1: you want to keep mapping of your existing source system and also want to load from the new system. Follow these steps:
    1. Right Click on InfoSource and selectassign data source
    2. Select the new source system (press F4 for options)
    3. Select the datasource
    4. Next in the transfer rules screen do the mapping and activate.
Case 2: You don't want to load from the new system without making any change to the transfer rules (and update rules if any). Follow these steps:
    1. In SM59 change your old system RFC connection to point to the new system.
    2. Then right click the source system and perform a check/restore. This will update partner profiles for the new system.
    3. Replicate the datasource and activate the transfer rules.
    4. Request your BASIS team to run program for BDLS that changes the system pointer.
You dont have to reinstall anything from business content in any case

  • Change Source System RFC

    Dear All,
we have 2 server ecc 6.
    1. production
    2. backup
right now my sap bw connect to ecc production.
we have plan to use backup instead of production
is it enough just simply changing the IP and host name at the current RFC connection.
from IP production to IP backup server ?
without creating new RFC connection ?
is there any procedure that we have to do before or after the changes ?
    please advice

    Hello Dady,
You have to take care of RFCs, Logical system names and RSA1 stuff in order to use backup ECC server instead of Production.
I suggest you to go through the following document for better understanding. It's strongly recommended to take offline backup before you attempt to modify source system configuration in BW system.

  • Error while creating source system in BI: Modification not possible

    Hi All,
We are about to move to production, and therefore it's necessary to create in BI the source system related to our ECC (R/3). While trying to perform this action from BI side we received the error message:
SAP system has status 'not modifiable'. Because of this, and following with known consultants practices we've changed the client to customazing but it still not working although the message at this time is: Changes to repository or cross-client Customazing are not permitted. We have also verified transaction SE06 but it's not possible to change the Cross-Application Component to Modifiable.
Did someone face with this same problem before?
    Thanks to all in advance,
    Regards,
    José.-

    Hi Rick,
I really appreciate your quick response. We followed your recommendation and could create the source system without problems. Thanks once again!

  • Multiple rows in BI Infocube/or DSO for one row in source system

    Hi Gurus,
I have a typical scenario where in I have a ztable in R/3 system and it contains some custome transaction data.
The business scenario wants it to split into multiple records in BI ( ofcourse keys for each records in BI would be unique). Either infocube or DSO can be used to store the data in BI.
Is it possible to do that. As far as my knowledge goes( I have limited BI exposure) one record from source system ( read row) is transformed into one record ( row) in BI in simple transformation.
Please give me some rough idea if its possible how can we achieve it.
I know we can write an ABAP program and create a ztable to do it and use the ztable as source for incube/dso. But I want to use this as last option.
    Thanks

    Hi,
    An ODS will be better.
    Use a start routine.
    data-package --> package2
create your own package with your rules.
    update.insert.modify.append....
    package2 --> data_package
and from 1 row, you create n row as your rules would like..

  • How to create Source Systems in BI or RFC ??

    Hi Gurus,
I want to load data from an R/3 connection to BI.
Now i have modified my Datasources in R/3 side.
Question is how i connect R/3 to BI ?
I will have to create RFC Connection , Yes ?
I did following steps , so far, PLEASE LET ME KNOW WHAT ELSE TO DO ???
1 To call the RFC we have to create destination.
Means Source system and Target system.
Source System: From where we are calling the RFC i.e. Source system. = R/3
Target System: To where it is calling i.e. Target system. = BI
    2. In Source System, create DESTINATION
Goto SM59 to Create a RFC Destination.
    3. In SM59 First screen you will get list of RFC Destions
Select R/3 Connections and Click on list(+)symbol it will gives already created Destions, Select R/3 Connections click on Create buttion, it will takes you into another screen to create Destionation.
    Name, Password, Logon details.
once it is saved you can test it. Click on Test Connection Button
if it is executed successfully your destinatio is established
NOW WHAT DO I HAVE TO DO IN BI SIDE ????
    i went to RSA1 -> source systems
Here i dont see my R/3 in source systems...
please give me step by step instructions.

The time stamp in the source system is 21.06.2005 07:31:33.
The time stamp in the BW system is 27.11.2004 17:41:45.
    Regards,

This generally occurs when you change the data source or enhance the data source or the coonections to the datasoiurse are broken. To resdolve thius sort of errors just
    1. Check for the coonect between the sourse & target systems
2 . Replicate the data sourcses.
    3. Acivated TR,UR,& the rest of the flow But check in the source system if the structre is modified & is so do the changes in the IS , TR,UR correspondingly & the try to load .Hoppe it allows you to load .
    Thanks ,

  • SAP Source system creation in BI

    Hi Gurus,
I am trying to create SAP source system in BI,  The trying to create ALE REMOTE user in both systems.
What roles and profiles i need to assign to this user id. After creating user ids what steps i need to follow. Thanks.
    Best Regards,
    Suresh.

    Hi,
To Create SAP Source System In BI:
-Click on Source System tab in RSA1.
-Then right click on the heading Source system and select Create.
-Select the first option Automatic. Create SAP System and continue filling the other details.
-This will create Source system automatically.
When you enter background user's password, sap system user name is modifiable, but the the BI user.
The background user of BI system, is defined in
    RSA1 => Settings => Global Settings
<b>BW User ALE</b> field will have the name of the background user in BI.
If you are using ALEREMOTE as background user, make sure the same is maintained as BW User ALE.

  • Error while source system creation/Source system transport

    Hi,
In our BW implementation, the system landscape is only 2 servers. One is BW Dev, another is BW Prd. All configurations are done in BW Dev and I extracted the data from QAS for this BW Dev system.
Since we can’t create the source systems in the BW Production system, I tried to create the source system for the SAP R3 Production system in BW Dev and trying to transport this to BW Production Instance.
         I have two queries.
    1.  Is this way is correct for creating the Source System for BW Production system?
    2. When I tried to activate the source system I am getting the following error messages. (I tested the RFC Destinations. There is no problem, I also done the configurations for logical system creation and client assignment in both the systems).
    Error in source system GWPCLNT900
         Message no. RSAR502
    Diagnosis
With Remote Function Call to system GWPCLNT900 error connection closed
         (no data)  ccurred.
    Procedure
Remove the cause of the error.
When tried again I got the following error message
    Basic type ZSBB030 doesn’t exist. EA 447
Result of the destination check: Timeout RSAR 375.
Could anyone throw some light on these errors?
    Thanks in advance.
    Krishna

    Hi,
you need to maintain the logical systems on both R/3 and BW. You also need to set up the RFC connection with users that can log in to the other system. The R/3 system must be open for customizing in scc4.
In transaction se03 the system change options for 'Business Information Warehouse: SAP Namespace' and 'Business Information Warehouse: Customer Namespace' may need to be modifiable. I am not completely sure about this.
The last thing I will mention is that I have seen source system creation fail when the RFC-users are system users, and the source system creation worked if the RFC-users was display user while creating the source system. The RFC-users must be changed back to system user later...
Please look at best practice documents on a more step-by-step guide...

  • Cannot create source system in RSA1

    Hi,
    I have a BI System:
    Netweaver 7.0 unicode
    BI_CONT  7.03
    Windows 2003 server
    SAP_BASIS: 700_016
    SAP_BW: 700_18
I have an ECC 6.0 system:
    Netweaver 7.0 non-unicode
    Windows 2003 server
    SAP_BASIS: 700_015
I go into RSA1 on my BI system
    Click on Source Sytems
right-click on SAP and choose Create
I then fill-in the necessary ionformation and click on the Green check.
I am asked to login as an admin user.
I receive a popup sating that user already exist in source system, I choose Continue.
I receive a popup saying RFC destination already exists in source system. I choose USE.
I get this error at this stage: Error in source system JCB275.
So, I check RFC conenctions, they all work fine.
I finally find an error in SM21 in my ECC 6.0 system:
    Run-time error "DYNPRO_SEND_IN_BACKGROUND" occurred
    short dump generated.
So, I go into ST22 and try to get more info on the short dump (I only copy/pasted some info):
    Runtime Errors         DYNPRO_SEND_IN_BACKGROUND
    Date and Time          06.02.2009 09:56:18
The current ABAP program "SAPLSTRD" had to be terminated because it has
come across a statement that unfortunately cannot be executed.
During background processing, the system attempted to send a
    screen to a user.
    Current screen: "SAPLSTRD " 0351.
If the error occures in a non-modified SAP program, you may be able to
find an interim solution in an SAP Note.
If you have access to SAP Notes, carry out a search with the following
    keywords:
    "DYNPRO_SEND_IN_BACKGROUND" " "
    "SAPLSTRD" or " "
    "SYSTEM-EXIT"
    Client.............. 700
    User................ "BRUNEERI"
    Transaction......... "RSA1"
    Call Program........."SAPLRSAC"
    Function Module..... "RSAP_BIW_CONNECT"
    Call Destination.... "JCB275"
    Source Server....... "svr60dbw_DBI_11"
    Source IP Address... "10.16.33.3"
I search SDN and SAP notes to no avail.
Note that this ECC 6.0 system is also connected to another BI system and it works fine on that other system.
    thanks to all

    solution found:
config needs to be opened on source system ,if not, a popup tries to tell you that config needs to be opened, but it cannot because the frontend is not active on this connection.

  • Change source system in BW 3.5

    Hi,
My current situation is that. In BW I have a source system (RHD) with several infosources, transfer rules ... assigned. The basis people has made a copy of RHD in a new system (RHX).
Is there any way to modify the source system in BW to get the data from RHX without modify objects manually (infosources, trasfer rules..)?
    Thanks.

    Hello,
in the transport connection of the Administrator Workbench there is a special collection mode for system copies. Select your Source system and use this mode. All source system dependend objects are collected in a transport request. Export this request, connect your new source system and maintain the translation of logical system names in the Admin Workbench. Then reimport the transpor request and all datasources, transferrules etc. are then 'copied' to the new source system. Have a look in SAP note 886102.
    Hope that helps

  • Use BDLS in BI for re-mapping of source system

    Hello,
Is it possible to use tr code BDLS in BI  in order to automatically change source system assignment in source system related BI objects (such as info sources, info packages..)?
We have created a new ECC QA client and would like to load data from that to BI (the same BI system as before) and wish to avoid the manual work of manually re-mapping all source system related objects.
In the thread below the conclusion was that it's possible to use BDLS, but when executing it in test mode and looking at the affected tables, only the parter profiles and EDI-related tables seems to be modified with a new LSN (logical system name). However, I could not find a change in tables containing f.ex. info sources etc.
Fresh source system clients in production BW system
Is there anyway of doing this without manually re-mapping the BI objects?
    Thanks,
    F C

    Thanks!
When running a LSN conversion in BI from source OLTP to target OLTP in test mode and then checking some BI-object tables, I see that the logical system name is changed, so it's seems to me as if the infosources are changed.. (or?)
However, perhaps a transport in "system copy" mode is preferrable (?) In step 2, do you mean that I should first collect a system copy in a transport request and then collect "everything before" in the same transport request?
    Any comments on BDLS, Patrick?

  • Problem BW  : DTP lost source system mapping  and new one created?

I had a little question concerning the BI content activation, when you have to activate objects and there are two source systems, one of them already with a flow working. Do you have to check both source systems in your screen of source system selection, if there are shared objects? I was afraid if I only checked the one I wanted the existing one would dissappear? I donu2019t want to touch the existing one as it was a 3.5 flow which has been migrated to 7.0.
I have also another question, which is a worse scenario of what has happened recentlyu2026!! Imagine you have originally one source system in your BW DEV environment (towards QA) with a certain amount of Datasources connected to it as well as some DTPu2019s. A new source system was added to this BW DEV (towards PROD). Do you think adding this new source system could have an impact in the mapping of the DTP towards the Datasources? In fact, some of our DTP have been modified and they are pointing to the incorrect Datasource/Source system. These DTP were created manually as well as the Transformations as it was a former 3.5 flow. Do you know a way to bring it back to itu2019s previous connection. Maybe a table that points to the correct source system or a function module? RSBKDTP and RSBK* tables do not store this info (only descriptions) and RSRV doesnu2019t do it.
Please let me know if you have had a similar case! Points are waiting and the gratitude of my boss...lol

    Any ideas?
