Modify the text of a button.

Hello friends,
Is it possible to change the short description of a button (application toolbar) in a standard transaction?
I am trying this using SE63 but without success. Does any one know how to use the transaction?

It depends whether there is user exit available to make the required changes or not hence i think using GuiXT is the better option to do the required changes.

Here is the problematic:
1° How can i change the color of the text on a button in Roll Over or Click state (Cs5.5)
- I've many button in a doc im creating
- the color of the buttons is white with black stoke & black text
- in roll over state i want them to inverse the color coding (the text white & bottom black)
- currently the text becomes invisible as black on black cant be seen (ive stroked it white but that looks ugly)
- i would just like to know if there is a function made for this?
My other questions:
2° Ive a presentation on which Ive created buttons which tigger pop-up animations
- i have 5 buttons which trigger animations
- the viewer can chose to Click on any of the buttons randomly
- the problem is once the animation is open how can it be close... either:
a) by it self after "40" seconds
b) when ther viewer clicks another button
3° Ive created buttons linking pages..
- "go to page xxx"
- when i do a preview and click on the buttons the links dont take me to the right pages
- is that normal? (maybe in preview its suppose to be like that)
4° I would like to intergrate YouTube videos in the presentation so they play inside the docment.. when i tried.. it said the 'link isnt a flash video'
- what should i do?
5° Once i export it into Swf. how how can i visualize it? or put it online?

You should setup Object Styles - these can also include Paragarph Styles that can be triggered when the Style is selected.

Does it work properly when you export it to the finished file?

InDesign won't link directly to youtube videos. I think your best bet would be to use Downloader to download the video and embed them directly in Indesign.
5° Once i export it into Swf. how how can i visualize it? or put it online?

You can look up how to embed a SWF file into your HTML - but it depends what you mean by "online" there's a dozen ways to get a file "online".

Modify the text in the file

Hi,
I have a text file with few lines. Please let me know hot to modify the text in in the line.
for example if my file contains :
this is line 1.
this is line two.
this is line 3.
now i want to replace 1 by one and 3 by three.
this is a simple example but my requirement is some other .
I tried opening the file reading the strings and comparing and changing and writting it to new file.
is there any way to directly open the file and modify without using the second file to be created.

the actual problem is there is a file in following kind of entry in each line
<string>, starting point, ending point.
eg. "this is a file" , 10, 20.
now i want to calculate the length of the string and add to starting point and check with ending point if it is false then update the ending point with actual value.

Problem with lower third template & modifying the text...

I'm doing a top 10 type video, & I downloaded this lower third template & I had never used AE before; I figured out how to duplicate it multiple times through the video where appropriate... but when I modify the text on one template it does the same thing to all of them. How do I make them all separate?

Ok, think about what you have done to change the text for moment. You drilled down to a pre-comp or nested comp that contains a text layer. This makes perfect sense. Unfortunately that text pre-comp is also nested in a pre-comp. This means you need to find each of these pre-comps in your project panel and duplicate them there, open the duplicates and then change the text in the duplicates, then replace the original nested comps in the main comp.
I have another observation on your workflow. You've put a bunch of shots and transitions in a single comp which, in effect, tells me that you are using AE as a NLE (editing app). What I would have done is to put every one of your shots that you want to add titles to in a separate comp to simplify each comp. I'd then edit them in a NLE....
The other way I would do this project is to make a comp that is just the needed titles, one comp for each tltle overlay, render the titles with alpha channels, then bring the titles and the original footage into a NLE to edit and add titles.
Building extremely complex compositions with multiple shots in a single comp is usually not a very good idea, even for folks like me that have been doing AE for 20 years. AE is perfect at making shots, lousy at editing sequences so always, and I mean always, try to figure out how you can simplify your project to it's basic elements and build a comp on that. I've had 5 second animations with over a hundred layers, but I've never put 10 or 20 video clips in AE in a single comp and tried to create a sequence.

I've a similar problem - I'm using Text2D to create labels for a node-link graph. I've set all the capabilities, etc., and am finally able to change the labels using setString in Text2D. With one slight problem - now I'm getting an error:

Create a duplicate of a button and change the text on THAT button only

something is frustrating me w/Flash. Not sure if there is a workaround within Flash itself or not. I have a group of buttons with fancy backgrounds and text. They may have originally been imported from Ilustrator, but are now MC's. I tried to select one in the library, right click (on PC) and duplicate. This does create a new instance. I give the new instance a different name and drag onto the stage. When I change the test though it changes the text ALSO on the button which I duplicated from. Don't want this. Each button needs to have it's own unique text. Is there a way to accomplish this in Flash? I know one alternative is to try and find the Illustrator template and create a new one, but I would rather not do this if possible.

This could be happening for a couple of reasons. The good news is its easily fixable, and you have options.
Option 1.
From your explanation of the problem I am assuming you are using static text inside your MCs.
First, find out what's really happening with your two mcs.
make sure you aren't using 2 of the same clip (either the original or the duplicate).Not the instance names, but the actual names of the clip as found in the Library.
If they are different, i.e. "myclip" and "copy of myClip", then odds are there is another mc that holds your text inside them. So, go into either one of your movie clips and check for nested movie clips inside them. If there are nested clips, you need to duplicate each of those clips as well otherwise you will continue to have the text change in both.
Option 2.
if you are ok with a little bit of scripting, you can just go inside your mc and make your text fields "dynamic" and give it an instance name.
then open up the actions panel, create new layer, and add the following frame script:
//insert your instance names where necessary
myMC.pathToMyTextField.myTextField.text = "the text for this button";
do this for each button and it should fix your issue.

Modifying the text "Result" and "Overall Result" in a BEx query output

Hi,
1) Is it possible to modify the text "Result", "Overall Result" which appears in the sub-total and grand total lines of BEx query output? I do not see any related setting the properties area of the object in BEx Query designer. Do I have to write some VB code or can I do something in Customer Exits?
Also my client wants that this text need to be made dynamic such as "Sub-Total for the month of Jan 2006".
I can use work book option and change the texts manually.But this is not meeting my clients requirement.
2)Is it possible to have dynamic title text for a BEx query?
We are on BW 3.5 & if any of you could provide / guidance to the above issue.

You will have to use VB Macros to change the text "Result" and "Overall Result", there is not settings in the query designer for the same.
You can have dynamic descriptions for queries using text variables like Expense Query for month of Jan 2006, if user selected Jan 2006.

Sorry...I mislead you. the function to edit the content of a long text is SAVE_TEXT and not RENAME_TEXT.
In SAVE_TEXT FM, fill this information.
In HEADER parameter, enter your TDOBJECT, TDNAME, TDID, TDSPRAS and TDTITLE information.
In SAVEMODE_DIRECT parameter put an X value
In LINES table, put your new content.
Execute it.
Confirm it after, using READ_TEXT function.

This text is not a translation managed in the DB. you can modify the aspx page, directly. web\webcommon\login.aspx

How to select different parts of the text? cmd button no longer does that...

After installing Maverics i can no longer propertly edit my work as I cannot mark different parts of text using cmd button. Shift works as before for highlighting all the text from starting point to selected point but I can no longer use cmd to highlight different areas of the text. Is this an OS bug? Or was the button for selecting different parts of the text changed? I tried everything...

Change the text of a button in a form on the fly

Hi all,
I have a form that it is called from another form or from a report. I would like to change the text of the Update and Save buttons on the fly depending on who called it. For instance, if this form is called from the form I would like the Update button to say: "Save & Next", however if it is called from the report the button should say: "Save & Back to Report".
How could I accomplish this if it is possible.

I've got the problem fixed. For any of you that would like to know the solution is this. I added the following javascript at the end of an unstructured UI template where I have the form:

Example : P_BUTTON(20) TYPE C.
Place button with name P_BUTTON on you screen. Do not forget to mark it as "Output Field". [ Double click on button, Attributes --> Program tab --> tick "Output Field".
In you PBO / PAI , whereever you want to change your text -
Assign value to P_BUTTON.
Example -
iF COND1..
P_BUTTON = 'EDIT'.
ELSEIF COND2.
P_BUTTON = 'DISPLAY'.
ENDIF.

I am not able to modify the text in pdf output file using pdf editor

We have upgrade the xml 5.6.1 in server level. After upgrading this, we are not able to modify the pdf output file. Previously we used to modify text and delete text in pdf file which is generated by oracle Application. As of now we cann't upgrade higher version. Can you suggest what to do?.

Check the xdo configuration file option in the user guides. There should be options that allow / disallow modifying text specifically. If you are in EBS, you should be able to change the configuration file options from the XML Publisher Administrator UI.

Modify the text of a data field on the screen

Hi,
I am looking to change the text of a SAP data field on the display screen for an infotype 106. I have the required object key for it. When I entered the key it logged me successfully, however it displayed a message that I am not authroized for changes. Infact as a developer my user profile has the highest authroization level 'SAP_ALL'.
I am looking to modify the module pool MP010600 and screen number 0100 on the infotype screen 106.
It displays the message:
"you have no authroizations for the authroization object 'S_DEVELOP' which would allow you to change the screen'. I checked with the admin guy. He did not have a clue either. Am I missing something?
Any thoughts how to resolve it?
