Modifying an Access database posted in a SharePoint doclib

I inherited the maintenance of a database used to store data for reporting. I needed to add a simple new query and "union" it to a group of existing queries.
When opening the database, I am prompted to open it read only, or download a copy to my PC to edit (and when finished, upload).
When I download, the queries I need to add to "disappear" - they are no longer listed in the left hand list of objects.
Thinking here is that those queries are soemehow associated with daya that exists only in SharePoint, and not being available on my desktop, no longer appear.
How can I:
a. Determine what those queries are connected to, and
b. Get the queries to appear in the downloaded version so I can peform the necessary edits?
Thnaks in advance.

This doesn't work. When you use the Save As... dialog box and open a SharePoint location using HTTP (WebDAV) connection, the dialog box hangs.
Why does every other piece of software use the Windows 7 dialog box but Adobe Reader XI and any software using the Adobe Acrobat 11.0.0.379 Plug-In (e.g. Firefox or IE) not work?

  • Breaking the Sharepoint connection within an Access database

    We have recently changed our online database to a new system. We downloaded all the current information into excel or access. However my major database to track all staff training, mandatory renewables and policy reviews will not allow attachments to be

    Hi MK,
    According to your description, my understanding is that you got an error when you published Access database to SharePoint 2013.
    Please deactivate SharePoint Server Enterprise Site Collection features at site collection level and deactivate SharePoint Server Enterprise Site features at site level, then activate them again, compare the result.
    Per the error message, please type a value in the ‘Name’ filed, then publish the table, compare the result.

  • Access Database in sharepoint 2013

    We have a new server here at work.  One of the virtual servers on this server has an installation of sharepoint 2013.  I have installed and configured many previous installations of sharepoint, 2013 is quite the different animal and I am working
    through trying to figure out how to set it up and use if for our company.
    A fellow employee was setting up an access 2013 database of our staff who does all of our construction.  We were successfully able to publish this access database to the sharepoint server from with in the Access 2013 environment.
    I am in sharepoint and I don't see the list that represents the access database.  Am I missing something here on how to make it display?

    When you publish a web database, Access Services creates a SharePoint site that contains the database. All of the database objects
    and data move to SharePoint lists in that site.

  • Question about Access database linking in SharePoint

    I have a database table I created in Access 2010, I can get it into SharePoint as a list and then create a calendar view.  I used the SharePoint icon under Database Tools in Access.  My problem is that when I enter new information in the Access
    Database I am not able to get SharePoint to reflect this update.
    I should state that I am extremely rusty with Access and SharePoint.
    I appreciate any help that can be offered and I thank you in advance.

  • MS Access Database on Runtime (Tables on Sharepoint)

    Using: Office 365
    MS Access tables are on my Share Point Site as lists.
    The database on my local pc has linked tables to the Share Point lists, which works fantastic.  I have a need to place the database on a pc that does not have any office software installed, so I loaded Access Runtime on that pc.  Pulls up the database,
    but, it the tables will not link to Share Point.  No error messages, cursor just spins, nothing happens.

    Actually I'm already using JDBC-ODBC driver. The problem is it still doesn't connect. Sorry I should have mentioned this above.
    String dbDriver = "sun.jdbc.odbc.JdbcOdbcDriver";
    String dbLocation = "//host/directory/database.mdb";
    String dbURL = "jdbc:odbc:Driver={Microsoft Access Driver (*.mdb)}; DBQ=" + dbLocation;
    String dbUserName = "Name";
    String dbPassword = "Pass";
    public boolean connectToDatabase () {
      // Microsoft Access Database SQL Connection.
      try {
        Class.forName(dbDriver);
        connection = DriverManager.getConnection(dbURL);
      } catch (Exception e) {
          return false;
      return true;
    }If I run my applet local, I can connect to my Access DB (Using a location similar to 'C:\Path\myDB.mdb'). When I put it on my web host, it can't connect to it. DriverManager tries to connect but fails after about half a minute of inactivity. The error message is:
    java.sql.SQLException: [Microsoft][ODBC Microsoft Access Driver] '(unknown)' is not a valid path. Make sure that the path name is spelled correctly and that you are connected to the server on which the file resides.
    And so I need to know any Java equivalent that doesn't require 'HttpServlet' 'getRealPath(...)' and get's me the server path to my DB or another way to connect to it alltogether.

  • How set Access forms to lists in Sharepoint?

    I need to create new view for list like Access form in Sharepoint. I go to Lists-Parameters -> Create View -> Access view.
    Then I create form in Access and save in Sharepoint site. This file have saved like .accdb. How I can choose this view for default view for my list?

    Hi,
    According to your post, my understanding is that you wanted to use the Access view in a list.
    There is no OOB way to use the Access view as a default view in SharePoint 2010.
    In SharePoint 2010, when create an view in Access 2010, you can only choose to ‘Save to SharePoint Site’ to save the .accdb file to a SharePoint document library.
    User then can access the reports or forms in the document library instead. The .accdb file will be opened in Access application.
    If you publish the Access database to Access Service, it will create a new site for the Access database, you can view the forms and reports in browser.
    For more information about publish a access database to SharePoint, you can refer to this site:

  • How do I open a pdf stored in a Microsoft Access database using Visual Basic studios 2012

    Currently I am unable to find a valid method of being able to open a pdf stored in a Microsoft Access database using Visual Basic studios 2012. I've tried displaying the entire database on a form, but when I do this all the other columns show up with
    the correct data besides the one containing the pdf's, it just displays <binary data> in each row down the column. I also tried another method with which you use the database as a dataset and can drag and drop the rows and columns into the form, which
    again works for all the other columns besides the one containing the pdf's but this time I'm unable to interact with the column  at all.
    Not too sure if this is in the correct place, but any answers or help would be appreciated. Cheers.

    Alex,
    This forum is dedicated to Project and Project Server. You might get better response, if you post to a Visual Basic forum. Here are couple I could find.

  • Open an Access database from ASP on the Windows 2008 32-bit server

    We are upgrading to a Windows 2008 server.  The ASP application opens an Access database with this code:
      Set oConn=Server.CreateObject("ADODB.connection")
      oConn.Open  "Provider=Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0; Data Source=E:\webdata\applications\po\sfisnet\sfisnet.mdb;"
    The open statement causes this error:
           Number: -2147217887
           Description: Multiple-step OLE DB operation generated errors. Check each OLE DB
           status value, if available. No work was done.
           Source: Microsoft JET Database Engine
           SQL State:
           Native Error: 0
    Research includes:
     - ODBC drivers
     - verified that the ms jet dll is present: msjet40.dll, msjet35.dll
     - IIS settings reviewed
     - permission and sharing on the directory and "sfisnet.mdb" database
     - verifies thet OLEDB_SERVICES is in the registry

    They'll help you over here.

  • How to automate creation of MS Access databases/tables/records

    Can someone point me to some examples that automate the creation of MSAccess database files and tables?
    Can I do this with a bat file? If not, a ps1 file?
    I bing searched and could not find an example.
    I want to test the existence of a mdb (or accdb) file and if it does not exist, create it.
    Then I want to see if that mdb (or accdb) file contains a table named "parts".
    If it does not contain that table named "parts", create the table.
    If that table does not contain any records, than add some sample data, presumably with some SQL "INSERT" statements.
    What is the preferred API for this? I was thinking we should use the ADO.NET/OleDB API. I did find a few examples of queries of MSAccess databases with the old ADO API.
    ADOX seems very old for creating databases. Is there any thing more modern?
    Is powershell the easiest scripting language to do this?
    Thanks
    Siegfried

    This blog post should have most (if not all) of what you need:
    http://blogs.technet.com/b/heyscriptingguy/archive/2009/02/16/how-can-i-use-windows-powershell-to-create-an-office-access-database.aspx
    One thing to watch out for is the db provider for the connection string.  The "Jet Engine" has been superseded by
    ACE.

  • Excel Web Access Web Part on O365 SharePoint...

    Excel Web Access Web Part on O365 SharePoint seems to run VERY slow on excel oData SharePoint list query/refresh.
    Is there anything that can be done to speed this? Thanks

    Hi Alan,
    O365 SharePoint is hosted on the Microsoft cloud, we cannot check what may cause Excel oData query/refresh very slow, I would recommend you post this issue in our dedicated O365 forum for a better assistance. If the issue is related to O365 SharePoint
    server side, there may involve
    O365 back end support engineer to look into this issue.
