Modifying existing BO Server Installation

I've found the following articale warning that any modification made to the base install of a server installation will require any subsequent service packs and patches to be reinstalled after modification.
The article is filed under XI R2 and XI 3.1
Can anyone confirm if this still applies to BI4.0?

Many Thanks

Hi Simon,
I don't see any other way SAP can accommodate this. Let's take an example where we make custom change to a CSS file. How can SAP ensure that their next release (SP or Fixpack) merges their changes (in case if the same CSS is changed) instead of simply replacing the CSS file with the new file.
Alternate option - SAP has provided the SDK to enable the customers to create custom applications that can be managed by us and this custom developed application wouldn't get overwritten.
Kind Regards

  • The existing Application Server Installation is corrupted

Well I downloaded the Java Studio Creator and wanted to test it on a Debian GNU/Linux box. See what happened while installing it:

Not nice, unfortunately I don't have the time now to debug the shell script inside the creator-2-linux-en.bin file, so if anyone knows how to fix this... thanks in advance.

    Hi,
I am having the same problem on a Gentoo installation. At the end of installation I get the error

I've been trying further to get this to install and I have found that it is actually the SJSAS installation that is the problem.
If I try to install SJSAS using any route (bundled with Netbeans, bundled with Creator or on its own) the installation fails.
If I try ot install using the freestanding SJSAS installler I get errors about their being insufficient disk space even though there is plenty of room (250Gig).
But still not much closer to getting it working.

  • Adding Availability Group to Existing SQL Server 2012 Enterprise installation

Looking at an existing SQL Server 2012 Enteprise vm. We'd like to add availability group functionality.  It seems that we should be able to create a second VM and install SQL on it in an identical configuration.  Then create a windows cluster with
the two nodes. From there we should be able to configure avaialbility groups.
I've set up avaialbility groups before but have not retrofitted one before.  It seems possible though since the instances are standalone.  Anyone see a problem with doing this?
    thanks
    Peter

    Hello,
What you have is pretty much it. Since AGs require clustering but do not require a clustered install (stand alone install is used) there shouldn't be any changes with the actual install. You will have to enable the HADR option in the configuration manager
    once the clustering is setup.

  • Installation on an existing Web server

    Hello all
    Here's my problem :
We have an Oracle 10g database server installed. We have a web server with Apache installed too. In order to separate applications from data, i want to install the HTTP part of Application Express on our existing Web server.
Is it possible ?? Is possible to install Application express on the database server for the schema, and install the HTTP part with only module ( mod_plsql ?? ) on an Apache server ?
Thanks and sorry for my english.

    Hello,
    >> how can i install mod_plsql on windows and from where can i download it ??
mod_plsql is a module of Apache, developed by Oracle. You don’t install it on windows, you install it on the Apache server. One of the advantages of using Oracle HTTP Server is that this module is installed by default.
    >> what means DAD ??
Database Access Descriptor – “A DAD is a set of values that specify how the Oracle HTTP Server component modplsql connects to the database server to fulfill an HTTP request.” . You can read about how to configure it for APEX in the following - http://download-uk.oracle.com/docs/cd/B32472_01/doc/install.300/b32468/post_inst.htm#BHAFJJDA .
From your questions, it seems like you don’t have much experience in these issues. I suggest you’ll consult your DBA (or at least the one installed your current Apache server).
    Regards,
    Arie.

  • Start multiple domains simultaneously on 1 Weblogic server installation?

Is it okay to start and run multiple domains simultaneously. Better yet, when having multiple domains on 1 WLS server, should each domain have a different port number in order to be run simultaneously?
Here's my scenario - I installed Oracle Business Intellgence, which by default installs and configures WLS server for certain Business Intelligence applications (BI Publisher). This instance was running fine and good and still is.
Then I had another application, Oracle Data Integrator, which has a Console piece that requires a domain on WLS. So instead of modifying the existing domain for Oracle Business Intelligence, I created a new domain via the Configuration Wizard and selected those components for Oracle Data Integrator.
    therefore current domains:
...\domains\bifoundation_domain --> installed automatically as part of Oracle Business Intelligence
    ...\domains\odi11g --> I created this domain after I
Now I have 2 domains under 1 WLS Server (windows 7 64bit), but if I startWeblogic.cmd for the bifoundation_domain, and I startWeblogic.cmd for the odi11g...then only the components for the bifoundation_domain become available via the WLS Console.
    Questions:
    - Can I run both domains simultaneously?
    - Should I have modified the bifoundation_domain to include Oracle Data Integrator component; therefore only having 1 domain but having everything run under that domain?
    - Does the Port for each domain matter? both bifounddation_domain and odi11g domain use ports 7001
Are there any other considerations? Thanks much.

    Hi,
It is perfectly OK to run multiple domains on a single Weblogic server installation. Only constraint would be you have enough capacity available on your server to start multiple instances.
Things to note is, if your domain1 is running on listen address : port { localhost : 7001 } then your other domain should be configured on a different port say {localhost : 8001 }. If you want both domain to run on same port then go for virtual IP's to be plumbed on your physical network interface and configure as,
    domain1 - { ip1 : 7001 }
    domain2 - { ip2 : 7001 }
this way you will can access both domain admin console on same port.
Remember, Weblogic resources cannot be shared between domain, however a single nodemanager will be enough to monitor both the domains.
    * rank it if answer is helpful :) *
    Thanks,

  • BPEL Server installation on JBOSS application Server on SUN SOLARIS

I have a question about Oracle BPEL installation. For our project exists the requirement, to install BPEL Server on SUN SOLARIS, whereby the appropriate Version of Application server JBOSS already exists and it should be used.
The version of the Oracle BPEL server for JBOSS, which we found on the Download side, is made available only with JBOSS (version 3.2.6) in a Package.
During the BPEL server installation this bound JBOSS server version is installed automatically, without giving selection. Is there a BPEL installation for JBOSS on SUN-SOLARIS, which can be installed at the already existing JBOSS server?

    Hi There,
Dis you get any good responces to your question ?

  • Do I need to set  system env variables for weblogic and SOA server installation?

    Hi All,
I already have two weblogic application servers on my machine(that were installed by others).
I observed some environment variables were also set in System variables(ORACLE_HOME,WEB_SERVER_HOME etc) section in Env variables section(Start Menu---> Computer --> properties ---).But why do we need to have system environment variables wherein we already have those variables in files like setDomainEnv.bat or/and setSOADoaminEnv.bat for each server.
And one more thing system variables will be applicable for all servers(the whole machine) right. It may spoil the installation of new servers and present servers as variables should be unique to each server.
I want to install weblogic and SOA server installation.
So Can I remove the existing system variables(as they will applicable for every server) and install weblogic and SOA server installation without setting up the environment variables?
Especially I have multiple Weblogic servers,In that case how it would be to have environment variables(JAVA_HOME,WL_HOME,ORACLE_HOME etc)?
Please guide me on this to installl SOA suite .
    Thanks in advance

    Hi Manikandan,
Mapping the drives is not enough, you need to make sure that <sid>adm and SAPservice<sid> have enough rights to access those paths...
    Hope this help!

    Hi,
It seems to me like you have
    1. Previous failed instance of SQL Server installation which subsequently caused further SQL Server installations to fail
    2. The windows account with which you logged into machine to install SQL Server is corrupt
You can, If possible create a new windows account give it admin privileges and then log into machine using this account
After you login follow below method to remove failed SQL Server installation
    Uninstall
Uninstall SQL Server completely from add remove program. Make sure no previous failed installation fragments are present on your system. Please use this
link for uninstalling existing instance of SQL Server
. If you have SQL Server 2005
    use this link .
If you are unable to uninstall SQL Server completely because you deleted SQL Server files and un-installation is giving error please follow below method. This method is tested and suggested on
    this thread and
    Forum .
Below Solution (about removing reg keys) will work correctly for SQL Server having Just one instance.
If you have multiple instances and you have messed up SQL Server installation please contact Microsoft Support personal to get better guidance on removal of SQL Server. Please DONT use this method if you are new to SQL Server take help of experienced
DBA to locate proper registry keys and remove them if you are not confident at all it would be better calling Microsoft Support.
Note: Removing necessary registry entries might cause SQL Server instance to crash so backup registry before doing changes.
    1. Uninstall the existing SQL Server  and all the components from the add remove program.
    2.
    Backup the registry .
    3. Delete the following keys using regedit:
    --HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Microsoft SQL Server
    --HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\MSSQLServer
    4. Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall and delete all the sub-keys referencing SQL Server.
    5. Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services and delete all the keys referencing SQL Server.
    6. Rename all the SQL Server folders in the computer.
    7. Reboot the machine.

  • Adding Index server to existing farm, "Server Farm Product and Patch Status" returned 34 Missing Locally required products and patches

Once I connected my new server to my farm's config db, it returned all of the following missing locally. I stripped out any redundancies and Headings, and I'm left with 43. I'm looking for a efficient strategy. Should I start with the lowest version number
and work my way up? Current DB version is 14.0.7015.1000. IIRC, SP2 is cumulative, so can I ignore the first two (SP1 and Hotfix), install SP2, and then the Language packs and etc on top?
    Sorted by version:
    Microsoft SharePoint 2010 Service Pack 1 (SP1) (14.0.6029.1000)
Hotfix for Microsoft SharePoint Server 2010 (KB2775353) 64-Bit Edition (14.0.6105.5000)

    Thanks,
    Scott

Thanks guys. I was able to get through all of the patches except for
Language Pack for SharePoint, Project Server and Office Web Apps 2010 - English   missing locally
Language Pack for SharePoint, Project Server and Office Web Apps 2010 -
    Spanish/Español missing locally
    This was my process:
    Config Wizard:
Adding Index server to existing farm, "Server Farm Product and Patch Status" returned 34 Missing Locally required products and patches.
SKIP installing the following two, as SP2 is cumulative
    Microsoft SharePoint 2010 Service Pack 1 (SP1) (14.0.6029.1000) (officeserver2010sp1-kb2460045-x64-fullfile-en-us.exe)
Hotfix for Microsoft SharePoint Server 2010 (KB2775353) 64-Bit Edition (14.0.6105.5000)
    install SP2 oserversp2010-kb2687453-fullfile-x64-en-us.exe
    install oslpksp2010-kb2687462-fullfile-x64-en-us.exe
Got "There are no products affected by this package installed on this system."
    SO!
    Uninstalled Sharepoint 2010 Server
WIll try to install again, without skipping #2, and reorder installation of oslpksp2010-kb2687462-fullfile-x64-en-us.exe
    Retry (the long way):
    Run SharePointServer.exe, get Missing Locally...
    Install oslpksp2010-kb2687462-fullfile-x64-en-us.exe SUCCESSFUL
    Install officeserver2010sp1-kb2460045-x64-fullfile-en-us.exe SUCCESSFUL
    Reboot
    Install oserversp2010-kb2687453-fullfile-x64-en-us.exe SUCCESSFUL
    Rerun Config
    STILL MISSING
Download oslpksp2010-kb2687462-fullfile-x64-es-es.exe, run, "there are no products affected..."
    Uninstall.
Re-retried, only got through the first couple:
    Run SharePointServer.exe, get Missing Locally...
    Install SP1 officeserver2010sp1-kb2460045-x64-fullfile-en-us.exe, SUCCESSFUL
Install English Lang Pack oslpksp2010-kb2687462-fullfile-x64-en-us.exe, "There are no products affected by this package installed on this system."
    Install Spanish Lang Pack oslpksp2010-kb2687462-fullfile-x64-es-es.exe,
Install SP2 oserversp2010-kb2687453-fullfile-x64-en-us.exe, run Config Wizard
I'm now downloading 462150_intl_x64_zip.exe, going to try and install it as step three.
    Any suggestions greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Scott

    Hi.
I have a problem during the single server installation.
Let me tell you server status.
Server OS: MS Window server 2003 Enterprise
    SQL: MS-SQL 2005 Enterprise edition.
    with IIS and Active Directory.
    Error message show like this
    "Couldn't replace ~DSDATAFOLDER~ with "E:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL
    Server\MSSQL.1\MSSQL\DATA" in file Scripts\SQL_PSTOKEN.sql(error code -2)
Would you let me know if you know how to figure out this?

I could not go forward after this. and there was no account for "DS_STDSDB_USER"

  • Existing HTTP server stops working after installing OWB10g

    Hi,
I have upgraded an existing OWB target installation on a Win2000 server to 10G by installing the OWB SW on the server as described in the installation documentation. The target database is still v9.2.0.4. After installing OWB and restarting the server, the 9.2 HTTP server no longer starts. The error logs show that the HTTP server is trying to find some Perl libs in the new OWB home.
From what I can see, the OWB 10g installation creates a new environment variable; PERL5LIB, pointing to various catalogues in the OWB 10g home. If I remove this from the system, the HTTP server again starts normally, but I suppose this has some negative impact on OWB?
How can I get the Oracle database 9.2 HTTP server to work alongside OWB 10g?
    Roald

    Roald,
OWB 10g 'inherited' this bug from Oracle database 10g Bug 3585410. OWB 10g install includes 'Oracle Perl Interpreter' from Oracle 10g which creates this ENV. OWB 10g does not need this and PERL5LIB can safely be renamed without affecting OWB 10g functionality.

  • Can PeopleBooks 8.51 be installed on existing WebLogic server?

Is it possible to install PeopleBooks 8.51 on a existing Weblogic server which he used in setting up PIA? If yes, is there any specific documentation available for doing it?

Please refer the below document for PT8.51.
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E18373_01/psft/acrobat/PeopleTools_8.51_Installation_Oracle.pdf
PeopleSoft PeopleBooks 8.51 is supported on the same web server platforms and operating systems as the
PeopleSoft Pure Internet Architecture (PIA) for PeopleSoft PeopleTools 8.51.
Note. You must install the Oracle WebLogic that is bundled with the Online Documentation Library
Site (ODLS) installer. Using a different Oracle WebLogic installation, such as that used for PeopleSoft
PeopleTools, may cause issues with security roles or policies.
