Modifying JPEG files in Flash

Hi to all,
I was trying to erase(using eraser tool) some portions of the jpeg file after importing it in flash.. It does not work....I even converted it to symbol but the problem remains the same. Is it permitted or I am following the wrong approach.
I had another issue with a swf file..It plays perfect in the flash player...But when the same file is imported & played in the After Effects, it displays a still frame..
Please help me sir.
Thanks
Kangana

Thank you sir,
May I again bother you by asking about where is this conversion tool in Flash accessible..I mean I have the jpeg file on stage and how to I start with doing this conversion....
Please please help me sir... I am still a novice...
Thanks for your help.

  • How do I stop lightroom from modifying JPEG files?

During the Beta phase, I pretty much used lightroom only on RAW files. Now, with V1.0, I have had occassion to use this program on JPEGS produced by a P&S camera.
Hmmm. It appears that lightroom is writing data to the files. . .Is there anyway to force the program to use independent sidecar files, like it does for RAW? Manipulating JPEGS is a *major* draw back.
(So far. . I have been smart enough to only feed lightroom *copies* of files. . .so no data has been corrupted yet)
    Thanks for your help.

Yes, Lightroom V1.0 is DEFINATLY writing data to JPEG files.
I would VERY STRONGLY prefer sidecar files, as I do not want to ever modify the "as shot" files.
Simply NOT USING the sidecar data, however, is silly. How else do you know what has been done to the images? I have now developed the following (really cludgy yet effective) work practice:
    1) When storing files, I immediately create a "modified" and "Original" image directory. (Yes, this effectively DOUBLES storage requirements).
    2) The original files are immediately tagged as "read only" within XP. This stops (I hope) lightroom from messing with them if I make a mistake.
    3) I import the "modified" files into lightroom for image handling. I allow lightroom to modify these files to it's hearts content.
This seems to be working well for me. I have had to move some directories around, and have "reimported" the modified JPEGs into lightroom: Lightroom correctly (I think) maintained all the edits from my original pass at the files. I have not checked if the histories are lost. . .but that is not a big deal, as I only care about the end result.
BUT. . . I still would STRONGLY prefer a sidecar file.
PS: This is my biggest nit-pick with lightroom so far. Except that I suspect that Lightroom V1.0 (with 200 images in the library so for) appears slower than Lightroom B4.1

  • I have uploaded raw and jpeg files directly from my camera to my iPad (latest version) I have processed them in snapseed and want now to transfer back to my pc for further processing. How can I do this will a flash drive work?

I have processed my raw and jpeg files on my iPad using Snapseed . What format are they saved in on the iPad and how do I transfer them back to my pc where I use photoshop elements. Can I use just an ordinary flaws drive with the USB adaptor? Thanks any help would be appreciated.

The camera connection kit can only be used to import photo/video files form a camera, SD card or USB flash drive. You can't import other types of files. You can't export any type of files using the camera connection kit.

  • How to modify and compile SDK 4 frameworks file in Flash Builder 4

    Hi,
I would like to modify \Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Flash Builder 4\sdks\4.0.0\frameworks\projects\framework\src\mx\core\ScrollControlBase.as file for testing of my application. How do I get FlashBuilder 4 to compile that file and include it into my build.
    Thanks
    Jerry

You can actually just take the source for that file and put it in your project in the correct package.  So create the mx/core/ folders inside the src folder.  and then create a new ScrollControlBase.as file with the contents you wish to run.
This is often called monkey patching because the files in your project folder have higher precedence over the ones in the sdk. Allowing you to override them.

  • Preview cannot save after modified a jpeg file

I open a jpeg file by using preview. After I crop the same image, preview does not allow me to save with the same image name, another name or even duplicate it.

    Not a preference thing.
You can close the open document you saved the jpeg from without saving it. Then open the jpeg image saved from it.  If the layered image was never saved there will be no PSD file on your system for the layered state.  If you Flatten a new layer document  before saving it as a jpeg file. During the course of the save as jpeg the jpeg images file will become the backing file associated with the open document and the current document name should change from un-named or whatever to the filename.jpg you just saved.  New documents have no backing file till they are saved to disk.
If you open a jpeg file and add layers the document becomes layered jpeg does not support layers so Photoshop would want to save a layer document as a layerd file.  If you flatten before the save. Save would default to replace the jpeg file currently backing the opened modified and flattened document.

    Hello I have a iMac with 3.4 GHZ intel core I7, memory 16 GB 1333 MHZ DDR3, and OS X 10.9.4 Software.
I have problems when I try to copy or modify any file from my MAC to MY PORTABLE DRIVE/DISQUE (external hard disk).
my external hard disk have the next features:
    brand: Seagate
    4TB
I do not know if I need some software such as: paragon or I need to configure my MAC,
    Please help me..
    Thanks a lot

Click on it, choose Get Info from the File menu, and check the format.
If it's formatted as NTFS, reformat it as MS-DOS, exFAT, or Mac OS Extended (Journaled) as desired, or install software such as Paragon NTFS on the computer.
If it's formatted as FAT32 or exFAT, use the Disk Utility's Repair Disk command on it; this may also happen for a flash drive which is about to fail.
If it's formatted as Mac OS Extended, click Authenticate and provide your administrator password, or change the permissions on that specific folder in its Get Info window.

  • Bridge CS3 not writing metadata to JPEG files

For the last couple of months (without my noticing until a couple days ago) all JPEG files that I have edited using Bridge CS3 (on Windows XP) do not have the metadata built into the file. Here are the symptoms: use "File Info" to edit the metadata for a JPEG file (i.e. add a title, description, copyright info, etc.), all appears normal, but if you do any of the following, the metadata you entered disappears:
    - duplicate (the metadata does not exist in the duplicate file)
    - move or copy to another folder
    - open in Photoshop or any other software that can read metadata (File Info shows none of the metadata you entered)
    - rebuild the cache for the folder
Strangely, the metadata still appears with the file when you look at it in Bridge as long as you don't do any of the above.
This is really awful as I've put a lot of time into entering this metadata for hundreds of files. Older files (pre-Nov 08) don't have this problem and the metadata is "sticky" and doesn't get deleted. So, somehow my Bridge CS3 got corrupted along the way.
Has anyone experienced this and more importantly -- do you have a solution? I've tried reseting all Bridge settings (but that of course purged the cache and deleted all my metadata.)

    Hey,
There are various date/time fields shown in properties panel in Organizer. The dates mentioned in general section are read from OS whereas the dates in EXIF field are read from image's EXIF data. In EXIF data there are three date/time fields-
    1. Date time- This date/time info shows date modified of EXIF properties. So when you are writing a tag into imags's IPTC, you are doing some change in EXIF data. Hence this date should change to date when you are writing a tag into IPTC.
    2. Date time original - Represents date time when a image was shoot.
    3. Date digitized - Represents the date when the image was digitized (in digital camers there is hardly some delay between an image is shoot and it is digitized. So this field is always same as date original).
So, in your scenario, Date time in EXIF should change whenever you are writing any tag into its IPTC.
Please let me know if you need more info on it.

  • Adobe Camera Raw (ACR), Jpeg Files and Metadata

I have been using Adobe Camera Raw (ACR) with my Canon EOS 30D, an 8 MP camera, for a while now. I would make non-destructive changes to the raw file (.CR2) in ACR where the changes would be stored in an adjoining .xmp file. Jpegs of the unedited and edited camera raw files would be created so I have a before and after versions of the images that can be viewed anywhere.
Now I have a Canon EOS 5D Mark III, a 22 MP camera and the raw files are much larger. I’m looking at using camera raw on jpeg files for some for my more casual photo shoots in order to save disk space. From what I have read, I can use ACR on jpeg files and that the changes would be stored in the metadata in the jpeg file. Is there a way for the changes to be stored in an adjoining .xmp file so that the original jpeg file is not modified, much like it is done with the .CR2 files?
I am using Adobe Photoshop CS5 on a Windows 7 machine. All software is up-to-date.
Also, I have found that Adobe’s camera raw handing is different than the raw handling of the photos using Canon’s software (DPP). Is there a way to make ACR closer to what Canon’s software does?
    Thanks,
    Mike

    Probably not going to happen.
I agree, Canon's color is better than Adobe's in general - I just didn't know how good the Camera Standard profile might be for your particular camera.  I had hoped maybe they'd made it a very close match.
Some time ago I got a very nice genius-level Camera Raw forum member named Vit to make me a custom profile that exactly matches the Canon color for my 40D, even to the point of emulating the way Canon fits the entire gamut of the captured image into the sRGB color space, so I'm more than happy.
Others might tell you that you're silly for wanting the color to match, but I understand completely your position - if you do get that kind of feedback just ignore it and push on.
Once you've set up a default to use Camera Standard, you may well be able to tweak the dozens of color controls to bring the Adobe default into line with the Canon color.  I did that once before getting my special 40D profile, comparing embedded raw file JPEGs with the Camera Raw preview display with a variety of images - it was tedious but effective.
    Best of luck.

  • Working Color type always CMYK? Issue opening files in flash

I have illustrator CS3. The problem is I create a web document, set to rgb colour, I can view proof colours on monitor to see how it looks as jpeg, thats fine. The issue is when importing an AI file into flash it uses cmyk colours? Why is this? Is illustrator stuck in CMYK mode no matter what for AI Files? I notice in view > proof setup > working cmyk is ALWAYS shown here, whether you tick it or not.
Is there no way to import AI files as rgb for flash web use then?

    > Its not an image im importing into flash.
    Really?
    > The issue is when importing an AI file into flash...
Okay. Perhaps then, in the future, you should be more clear about exactly what it is you're trying to do versus what you've done and what exactly the problem is.
    > It changes the colour a lot, to more like cmyk,
    So is it
    like CMYK or
    is it CMYK?
    > Obviously not a lot of people importing AI files into flash...
Absolutely correct. Three, maybe four people import AI files into Flash. Since so few people do that, the likelihood of finding one of those very few people would increase significantly if you went to the Flash forum.
    > this pointless post
Turned out that way, didn't it?

    My goal is :
I need to display the appropriate image onto the stage based
on the selection of the item in the combo-box. So, please I need
ActionScript code or procedure to handle this using
    Event-Handling mechanism of MouseEvent.
I need help.. Please help me.... I am new to the

As you know,I am new to ActionScript 3.0 and flash.
Presently, I am using Adobe flash CS3 and working with it using
    ActionScript 3.0.
I need code (or) procedure for developing an application in
such a way that, When I click on a button present
on the stage, I should get execute an HTML file(say,
Hello.html) which is present in the local hard-disk in the same
folder as with the flash file.
I had developed HTML file and flash file.
I am attaching the JavaScript code which is getting executed

is displaying a browser with a blankpage. So, I need the
    ActionScript to get executed.

  • A way to force XMP sidecar file use with JPEG files?

I have a nice camera but it only saves in JPEG format. Once I rename the files and put my basic copyright info into the metadata, I like to mark them as read-only for safety. However, I want to be able to save the metadata that I enter in Lightroom 1.1 out to disk along with the files so that other programs can read it. I see that Lightroom will save in a separate XMP sidecar file if the photo is in one of those snobby RAW formats but not if it is in one of the low-life formats like JPEG. ;^)
Is there any way at all to get Lightroom to use a sidecar file with JPEGs or do I have to just risk it and let it edit my JPEG files every time I do anything? I'm sorry, but my lowly JPEG files are just as important to me as a RAW file is to someone else. They are my photographs and I want to protect them.

I'm not a pro so my backup routine is a little slip-shod. Sometimes I just grab a few files off the card, process them, and send the processed version out to whichever friend or relative is waiting impatiently for them.
I guess, I am most concerned about:
    A) LR corrupting the working file and losing all the virtual edits. It is not easy for me to re-figure out what I did in the first place. Knowing about the safe-write technique helps.
    B) Backing up just the edits. If the virtual/non-destructive edits were stored in separate .XMP files then I could back up those files to the same media as the original files and have them both together for future recovery operations. As it is, I now have to back up the entire working copy of the file in order to back up the edits. This creates two different versions of the file on my backup media, which will be harder to keep track of. Besides, .XMP files are small enough, and I would only be creating them for my better photos, so I could squeeze them onto the original backup media if I saved a bit of room. If I have to back up the entire modified file then it is less convenient.
    C) When I write the metadata to the JPEG file, does it change the Windows modified date or creation date?

  • Saving BitmapData as jpeg file

I've been working on an AIR image editing application for a
few weeks now and i'm suddenly realizing that there seems to be no
easy way to save BitmapData as a JPEG file. I have found flash
examples that call php scripts in order to save jpegs, but is this
even possible when running only local code? How can I do this???
Will this functionality be available any time soon? Any suggests of
ways to do this would be GREATLY appreciated.
    Thanks!

Well I have only used the JPGEncoder class, but the
PNGEncoder seems to work the same way... All I needed was something
to take my BitmapData object and give me a ByteArray that can be
written to meet the jpeg format specification. So basically, you'd
    do something like this:
//assuming you already have some BitmapData called
    myBitmapData
    var stream:FileStream = new FileStream();
    stream.open(newFile, FileMode.WRITE);
    var bytes:ByteArray = new PNGEncoder().encode(myBitmapData);
    stream.writeBytes(bytes);
    stream.close();
If you need to do something a little different, you might
need to look through the functions in the PNGEncoder class a little
    more.
Also, if you were implying you're actually confused as to how
to import the corelib, you should be able to either import it as a
new project or import the com.adobe.images package into your
current project and use the classes that way.
Hopefully this helps... I'm still sorta just getting the hang
    of this stuff myself.

  • Best practice to develop & keyword Jpeg files - Use of virtual copies

There is no sidecar file attached to Jpeg file and I understand all modification on the Jpeg slightly deterioriate the file quality.
Therefore, is it advisable to use vitual copies for all modifications?
Would use use them for trial and errors procedure, then apply whatever settings retained to the Jpeg file?
Or would it be better to leave the original Jpeg altogether untouched and stick to the virtual copy once modified?
What about keywords applied at several stages before and after usig the develop module.
Any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Would you advise to store the metadata in  the file itself IN ADDITION to where they are located in the catalog?
    How to proceed?
Would it make a difference in the export process?
Storing metadata in the file itself is a good idea if you ever think you might share the photo with others, or with another application (other than Lightroom). And I think almost everyone will be doing one of these things at some point.
You would want to turn on the option that automatically stores the metadata in xmp. Edit > Catalog Settings > Metadata, check the box that says Automatically Write Changes into XMP
Would it make a difference in the export process? Probably unnoticeable fractions of a second.

  • To Display SWF file or Flash file in Web Page Composer (WPC)

    Hi,
I am goning to add & display 'swf file or flash file' in <b>Web Page Composer</b>.
But it is not allowing me to do so.I tried by three ways
1} to upload this file directly from local machine & to add in WPC
    2}By using linklist option
3}By creating KM Document iview;which contain swf  file.& then adding that iview in wpc.
but at last it is not displaying though allowing to add it in WPC.

    Vishal -
First... we are all new to WPC!
Second, no I don't think you need to create a new container.  I think that you just need to add the swf type as an allowed type for the container.
    So...
Figure out which container you are trying to add the flash file to (as you mentioned, A1, A2, etc).
    Navigate to:
Sys Admin --> Sys Config --> Knowledge Mgt --> Content Mgt --> WPC --> Containers.
Edit the container you want to use.
There will be a box named Allowed Mime Types.
In here, select the "swf" mime type (make sure the check box is checked). Then Save.
At my company, we had the WPC ramp up from SP12, and are now on SP13.
I'm not sure what you get if the first time you had WPC is SP13, but for us I see two default A1 (and A2...B1..C4...etc) containers -- one that has "default" in the name and one that has "def" in the name.  From what I see, SP13 WPC uses the one with "def" in the name, not "default".  So, make sure you modify the one with "def" in the name.
After you make this change, you should see "swf" in the list inside the container when you are editing a page.
Is this clearer?  I wish I could attach a screenshot.
