Modprobe and module problems
I recently noticed that my USB devices didn't work all of a sudden, so I figured I'd play around, test a few things, it doesn't appear in /dev. I figured I'd try a few things,
modprobe usb-storage
etc.
I got this error:
FATAL: Could not load /lib/modules/2.6.30-ARCH/modules.dep: No such file or directory
So I googled it, then ran
depmod `uname -r`
And that didn't throw an error, a quick check to see if it worked then returned:
$ modprobe usb-storage
FATAL: Module usb_storage not found.
Now I have no idea what to do, this all worked perfectly earlier, since I had to modprobe pcspkr shortly after boot to fix my system beep, I did run a full update though. I include the related section of pacman.log

WebServices and Module problem
Hi!
I am in trouble with dynamically loaded Modules and
WebServices.
I have an application with a main container which defines
services with proxy configuration.
This application loads Modules which make use of such
services, a SearchThings web service for instance.
It happens that if I load instances of SearchThings as the
first modules, everything goes well, SearchThings uses the defined
services succesfully. But if I load another Module, say GrabData,
which makes use of its own defined RemoteObject services, and then
I load a SearchThings instance, I get an error loading wsdl within
SearchThings. The fault string says that the named service does not
exist.
May anyone help?
Thanks.
NicolaYou should never use crateRootApplicationModule() in a UI project if you can avoid it. UI projects uses one our moor data controls to get access to the model layer.
From your description I don't understand why you need a web service project.

# - prefix a daemon with a @ to start it up in the background

How can i modify my modules loaded and daemons to lower some boot time.
And why is that bluetooth is still loaded even if it's !bluetooth? And is it possible to background ntfs-3g?
Thanks all for advices! Please clarify what you mean. If the bluetooth service is started, then there is a bug or something very very odd. IF on the contrary you mean that the bluetooth-related modules are loaded by udev, this is perfectly normal: udev autoloads modules according to your hardware, not to your services. You need to blacklist the loaded bluetooth-related kernel modules (check them with 'lsmod') and to blacklist them in the MODULES array.

Module problems? (Network traffic dies, some devices stop responding)
I searched the forum and the web, but didn't see anything similar to this. I apologize if this has been answered before.
My problem is that my network traffic randomly just stalls. This happens approximately once a day, at a random moment, during load or no load at all. I don't know anything else than reboot that fixes the issue.
Logs contain the following lines, which are inserted at the time when networking dies:
modprobe: FATAL: Module ip_tables not found.
modprobe: FATAL: Module iptable_filter not found.
modprobe: FATAL: Module ip_queue not found.
nf_hook: Verdict = QUEUE.
nf_hook: Verdict = QUEUE.
nf_hook: Verdict = QUEUE.
nf_hook: Verdict = QUEUE. ....
Another thing is that after Arch has been up for few hours, I can't get my memory card reader working unless I remove and reload the module ehci_hcd. The reader always works straight after boot and after reloading ehci_hcd, but will stop working after some time. From log:
ehci_hcd 0000:00:1d.7: port 4 reset error -110
hub 5-0:1.0: hub_port_status failed (err = -32)
hub 5-0:1.0: Cannot enable port 4. Maybe the USB cable is bad?
These messages keep repeating.
Could these two problems be related? And what to do with them?
Last edited by peabrain (2008-04-28 21:36:59)I dont think these logs are related. One is for the USB subsystem, the other for networking. They are completely different subsystems.
The networking issue is probably the most annoying so focus on that first.
IP_TABLES and IP_QUEUE are modules relating to ip filtering and queueing. I have to ask the obvious - what are your trying to do with your system. These modules are usually used in firewalls, servers, h/w routers etc. If you dont need them, blacklist them in /etc/rc.conf. Blacklist is deprecated "officially" however , for me it works fine in Arch. Just add the ip_tables and ip_queue to the line with BLACKLIST=() on and uncomment it.
Reboot.
If that doesnt work then something is trying to use these modules and hanging your internet IP packets. Without knowing your system and software install, its diffucult to diagnose and because I dont use this functioanlity, I am no expert but I am aware that ISPs use quite large queues and this can be shifted to a linux box.
nf_filter is the NET FILTER module , used to filter IP packets according to predefined criteria. Not sure why you need this, but I think there is some form of queuing in linux, there has to be given packet arrival in non-sync - has to be queued. If net-hook listed as a module, use "lsmod" as root. If its listed, blacklist it like the others.
Other than that, try a later kernel from www.kernel.org, rebuild it but make sure net filtering and queuing options are turned off.
I really dont know. Google !??

I have an iMac 27" with 2.8 GHz Intel Core 17. 4 GB RAM. It's running OS X 10.6.8 Snow Leopard.
Last week I had the computer's hard drive replaced after the old one had gone bad. All the data was transferred fine to the new hard drive.
Since then my CS5 Photoshop comes up with this error message at each launch attempt:
"An unexpected and unrecoverable problem has occurred. Photoshop will now exit."
I took the computer back to the repair shop. They said they got CS5 Photoshop working on my computer so I brought it home and -- this is totally inexplicable -- I STILL get the error message.
Subsequently I've trashed CS5 Photoshop and reinstalled from the original Adobe Design Premium CS5 suite .dmg but I continue to get the same message. I've also trashed the preferences several times and the message still occurs. Creating a new user account for my computer and trying to open CS5 Photoshop there didn't help. I had no problems with fonts and Photoshop CS5 before the hard drive was changed.
I have no idea what else to do. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

It depends on how the program was transfered. If direct file copy it probably will not work, as all the files are not in one directory. It is usually safest to reinstall from a disk or download. You might want to unistall the programs and run Adobe Script Cleaner and then reinstall. -
Qosmio G10-133: Cooling module problem - message appears
I have recently received a message saying that there is a problem with the cooling system. The fan was making a very rough noise, now it is very quiet. I assume that I am in need of a Cooling Module? Can any one advise of the part number, the best place to buy a,d an approx. cost. Also if my diagnosis is correct.
CheersHi All,
I have the same overheating problem with Qosmio F10 message saying that I should return the computer for service. Well, I did. They replaced the fan and the problem continues. I would be grateful for any detailed information from anyone who has experienced this problem and had it rectified (by themselves or via service). I have spent about ten hours on internet ensuring that I have updated BIOS, tv tuner driver etc.etc.etc - I have done everything suggested on this and other sites (despite the number of people who are having a problem with it, the problem does not appear to exist for Intel or Toshiba). Many thanks in advance.

Strange behaviour when setting client_info and module in v$session
Hello,
I've tried to set the CLIENT_INFO field in V$SESSION using DBMS_APPLICATION_INFO.SET_CLIENT_INFO but found a strange behaviour.
Normally the forms modules seems to set the field MODULE in V$SESSION to its name. If I use DBMS_APPLICATION_INFO.SET_CLIENT_INFO the CLIENT_INFO field is set correctly but the MODULE field is set to 'frmweb.exe' instead of the forms modules name.
I also tried to set the MODULE using DBMS_APPLICATION_INFO.SET_MODULE but then strangely the MODULE and MODULE_HASH field of the original frmweb.exe (the main applet?) entry and the entry for the forms module were the same (set to the new module name). From now on every newly opened module had 'frmweb.exe' as the module entry until I closed the forms application.
Example:
Entries in V$SESSION:
-- After start of forms application there is only one entry for the process:
PROCESS MODULE MODULE_HASH CLIENT_INFO
1596:7204 frmweb.exe 854945150
-- When a new forms module is opened it looks like this:
PROCESS MODULE MODULE_HASH CLIENT_INFO
1596:7204 frmweb.exe 854945150
1596:7204 my_module 1929284615
-- When the modified forms module that sets the client_info/module is opened this happens:
PROCESS MODULE MODULE_HASH CLIENT_INFO
1596:7204 mod_module 3097977240
1596:7204 mod_module 3097977240 my client info
1596:7204 my_module 1929284615As one can see the entry of the forms application seems to be overriden (at least the MODULE and MODULE_HASH fields) but the CLIENT_INFO only changes for one of the entries?
The following code is responsible for the changes of CLIENT_INFO and MODULE:
-- get client info
client_info :=
webutil_clientinfo.get_ip_address
|| ' (' ||
webutil_clientinfo.get_user_name
|| ')'
-- set client info
DBMS_APPLICATION_INFO.SET_CLIENT_INFO(client_info);
-- get module (set action to '')
DBMS_APPLICATION_INFO.SET_MODULE(name_in('system.current_form'),''); I really don't understand, why it does not work properly.
Any help is appreciated!
Thanks in advance. This was an application module pooling, activation / passivation issue.
After view objects had been set-up correctly, the problem disappeared. -
Z77GD-80 Boot and RAM Problems ( caused by ME Flash Fail )
Hi everyone , i recentlty updated my MB to Bios Version 1.2 and noticed that an option had been added => update bios and ME
tried that option , chosen the same bios file ( 1.2 ) , a warning popup came up that mentioned to not unplug or shutdown the system , the flashing went well until it decided to flash the "ME".
the device rebooted after the the flashing reached 100% ( i think that was when the BIOS flash ended ) ,another flashing started after the Reboot but it did not complete and rebooted @ 60%( ME flash ? ) ! since then i cannot boot using that Bios , the debugger keeps showing error 15 and 19 , going from one to another rapidly .
tried to boot using the second bios ( bios switch ) it did boot fine , but only detects half of my RAM ( 8 G ) tried each MB DIMM and Module separately and all worked fine !
tried to flash the first bios via booting from the second but that didn't work from bios ( strange thing was that when i saved the second bios in USB it was only 6Mb and would not be detected to flash , but my downloaded bios are 8Mb and were available to chose for update )
1-if i try to only flash the bios it restart @ 100 % but then the same debugger error appears after reboot
2-if i try the BIOS and ME , same thing happens it restart @ 60% and the debugger error appears
tried AMI bios flasher for windows , and it did flash the BIOS just fine but when it tries the ME , it keeps erroring that this Bios doesn't support this function
so i had 2 question in mind
1- How can i flash the ME to solve my problems ?
2- why is half of my ram not detected in the second Bios ?
any help would be appreciated
thansk>>Use the MSI HQ Forum USB flasher<<
Use the forum flash tool to prepare a usb stick for flashing. Download the attached bios to your desktop and use option 1 of the tool, point the tool at the entire archive. After the flash (It will flash the me as well) do a full cmos clear with the cord removed.
Then re-install the ME drivers inside windows.
In regards to the non working bios, first try a full cmos clear, if that fails:

[SOLVED] Sudo in X11, cpupower, modprobe and taskbar plugin
Hello Archers!
I would like to enable the possibility of a panel-plugin in my Xfce to start as sudo instead of normal mode.
This is needed, since it's supposed to fix my cpu-frequency. I'm somtimes to lazy to open up the terminal and use cpupower and governor.
I've got these lines in my sudoers file:
buser ALL=(ALL) ALL
Defaults env_keep += "HOME"
The name of the plugin:
xfce4-cpufreq-plugin
http://goodies.xfce.org/projects/panel- … req-plugin
https://www.archlinux.org/packages/extr … eq-plugin/
And: Why doesn't my cpu-power recognize grovernor's ondemand and conservative-options but powersave and performance both work sweet? I love love to BE ABLE to use the terminal with modprobe and cpupower.
It suddenly says:
[buser@badmin etc]$ sudo cpupower frequency-set -g ondemand
Setting cpu: 0
Error setting new values. Common errors:
- Do you have proper administration rights? (super-user?)
- Is the governor you requested available and modprobed?
- Trying to set an invalid policy?
- Trying to set a specific frequency, but userspace governor is not available,
for example because of hardware which cannot be set to a specific frequency
or because the userspace governor isn't loaded?
When using "modprobe cpufreq_ondemand" nothing happens at all while I've got performance enabled.

It seems that my processor is working with the intel_pstate. Also it seems that that both performance and powersave in the new driver is superior to the old ondemand. Am I right?
You said it was "not working so well" with your processor. You never said what that meant. Now you say that it is working better with intel-pstate regardless of whether it uses powersave or performance? Or are you asking us?
It is one thing to "be lazy" and disable it to make your life easier. If you wish to do so, that's your prerogative. Just you should not present that as a solution which you suggest others emulate and I take it that was implied by your claims above that the new driver did "not work so well" and that disabling it was at least a solution.
There have been some reports that the new driver has problems on some hardware. Read the forum thread on power regressions (last few pages). However, you did not report any of the issues discussed there so it is most unclear whether it really has problems on your hardware or you are just concerned about the plugin. IF you experience the issues reported there, then I think that temporarily disabling the new driver is probably a perfectly reasonable work around until the bugs are fixed. (I believe that will not be long but I'm not sure - my hardware seems fine with the new driver.) -
Broadband connection and speed problems
Hi,
On Wednesday morning my broadband connection went down and could not reconnect from 600am til 700pm. It did manage to get a connection to stay up at around 900pm, but since then the connection has dropped about four times a day.
I have checked my equipment, wiring etc, connected directly to the test socket, using a new ADSL microfilter etc etc. I have also checked for known problems in my area and have done some quiet call tests(17070).
There are apparently no problems in my area, but a couple of the quiet call tests were crackly.
Since last night (Friday) at around 900pm the connection has managed to stay up but my connection speeds, both up and down are much much lower than they used to be.
Since Wednesday night I have performed some BT speedtests.
D/L Profile for my line is - 17.64 Mbps, but actual speed currently varies between around 8 and 11 Mbps.
U/L Profile for my line is - 0.83 Mbps, but speed currenty varies between 0.01 and 0.3 Mbps.
Before Wednesday, my download speeds were typically 16-17Mbps and upload speeds were typically 0.8Mbps.
With very little variation.
I have included some stats from my BT HH3...
Wednesday nights ADSL Line status, after I managed to get a connection to stay up. below;
ADSL Line Status
Connection Information
Line state: Connected
Connection time: 0 days, 04:59:49
Downstream: 18.65 Mbps
Upstream: 443.9 Kbps
ADSL Settings
VPI/VCI: 0/38
Type: PPPoA
Modulation: G.992.5 Annex A
Latency type: Fast
Noise margin (Down/Up): 4.9 dB / 26.4 dB
Line attenuation (Down/Up): 11.1 dB / 5.3 dB
Output power (Down/Up): 20.1 dBm / 12.9 dBm
FEC Events (Down/Up): 0 / 0
CRC Events (Down/Up): 758 / 36
Loss of Framing (Local/Remote): 0 / 0
Loss of Signal (Local/Remote): 0 / 0
Loss of Power (Local/Remote): 0 / 0
HEC Events (Down/Up): 23957 / 6
Error Seconds (Local/Remote): 300 / 4
Current ADSL line status. After the line being up for 17 hours below;
ADSL Line Status
Connection Information
Line state: Connected
Connection time: 0 days, 17:17:36
Downstream: 19.52 Mbps
Upstream: 443.9 Kbps
ADSL Settings
VPI/VCI: 0/38
Type: PPPoA
Modulation: G.992.5 Annex A
Latency type: Fast
Noise margin (Down/Up): 3.2 dB / 28.1 dB
Line attenuation (Down/Up): 11.0 dB / 5.2 dB
Output power (Down/Up): 20.2 dBm / 12.2 dBm
FEC Events (Down/Up): 0 / 0
CRC Events (Down/Up): 133 / 36
Loss of Framing (Local/Remote): 0 / 0
Loss of Signal (Local/Remote): 0 / 0
Loss of Power (Local/Remote): 0 / 0
HEC Events (Down/Up): 636 / 9
Error Seconds (Local/Remote): 117 / 4
One thing that stands out is the Noise Margin of 4.9dB and now 3.2dB. I gather that these values are on the low side. Is 3.2dB acceptable?
I assume my line attenuation values are low as I live very close to my local exchange. I assume that these values are good.
There are some CRC HEC and Error Seconds values. I must admit that I dont fully understand these but I assume these are not good.
One other thing worth mentioning is that the phone cable to my property comes along my front wall over from a neighbouring property. Whilst checking this cable this morning in the daylight, I have noticed that someone, most probably my neighbour, has pulled the cable way from its fixing on the wall in order to put a fence post up on the wall.
The fence post has been there for a few months, with no apparent affect ro my phone and broadband, but I'm concerned that this could have damaged the cable, splitting the shielding or breaking a wire in the cable, or perhaps loosened the connectors to the juntion box it is connected to on the neighbours wall.
Could damage to the cable be the cause of my connection and speed problems?
Also, is it possible that my BTHH3 is faulty?
Any advice would be very welcome.
Thanks
Solved!
Go to Solution.A little more information.
I have noticed that on a number of occasions when making or receiving voice calls, the broadband connection completely drops. It doesnt happen on all calls, and doesnt seem to happen when just going 'offhook' and listening to a dialling tone.
There is a definite crackle and hiss on most of the voice calls. But only seems to be audible on the home phone.
After a little browsing, I came upon a logging program "Routerstatshub". When I leave this running it logs changes to ADSL stats.
Looking at the logs, I've noticed that when making voice calls, the upstream noise margin always seems to drop considerably, sometimes down to 0dB.
On some calls, both upstream and downstream noise margin drop to 0dB and the broadband connection drops.
I have also noticed that upstream line attenuation increases from around 5dB to around 28dB every hour or so. This doesnt appear to coincide with the voice calls.
CRC and HEC error increase dramatically at the same time as the noise margin changes. HEC goes up by 10s of thousands.
I'm still directly connected into the mastersocket with a new microfilter and no extension cable.
By the way, my connection speeds went down to an all time low yesterday , 1.7Mbps down.
I have now replaced my DECT phone with a corded phone and will make some more voice calls to see if that makes any difference.
Any ideas about what the problem could be would be greatly appreciated. -
Question
I am not able to launch FF everytime i try to open it, it says FF has to submit a crash report, and restore yr tabs. I even tried doing that and the report was submitted too, but still FF did not start, and the problem still persists, please help me solve this issue
'''(in English)'''Hi Danny,
Per my understanding that you can't get the expect result by using the expression "=Count(Fields!TICKET_STATUS.Value=4) " to count the the TICKET_STATUS which value is 4, the result will returns the count of all the TICKET_STATUS values(206)
but not 180, right?
I have tested on my local environment and can reproduce the issue, the issue caused by you are using the count() function in the incorrect way, please modify the expression as below and have a test:
=COUNT(IIF(Fields!TICKET_STATUS.Value=4 ,1,Nothing))
or
=SUM(IIF(Fields!TICKET_STATUS=4,1,0))
If you still have any problem, please feel free to ask.
Regards,
Vicky Liu

BOSD, Battery issues and Heating problem after iOS 8 upgrade
i have upgraded my iPad mini to iOS 8. Ever since I upgraded to iOS 8 am facing blue screen issues and heating problem as well. This is really frustrating even the patch iOS 8.0.2 dint solve the problem. Are you guys listening our complaints. When will you fixing it.
The same thing happened to me on my 2012 Subaru Outback. I'm not sure this will help you since you have a Honda, but I'm posting this just in case.
I paired the audio on my car with my iPhone 6. However, when I turned the car off and back on again, the iPhone would not pair automatically. I had to manually connect the iPhone with the car. Turns out there are two separate bluetooth pairings on my car: one for phone which allows up to 5 devices and one for audio which allows only one device. So I did the second bluetooth pairing for the phone (had already done the audio), and that fixed it. YMMV
