  • Record audio file in a wav file format using QuickTime 7 Pro for Windows?

Is it possible to record audio file in a wav file format using QuickTime 7 Pro for Windows? The system I want to upload audio files that I record to requires they be in a wav file format / PCM - 112025kh / 8 bit mono / 11.05khz
Something tells me no...and I bought this upgrade for nothing...GRRRRRRR

QuickTime Pro for Windows allows you to make audio recordings from some input devices.
You can then "export" these new files to .wav format at any setting you choose.

  • Using .wav file format in GarageBand (GB)?

I am importing files from a Zoom H4n recorder in to GB.  I am using 4 mic's so the Zoom recorded saves two files, one for one set of mic's and one for the other set of mic's.  They are in .wav format.  When I import the two files in to GB, they get converted to .aif format.  It seems to compress the files since the file size shrinks.  For example, the .wav files are 140 MB each.  After importing them in to GB, the .aif file is 104 MB.  I want to keep the .wav format.  Is there a way to do that in GB or do I need another software application that will allow me to edit in .wav and save it in .wav?  Thanks.

Which version of GarageBAnd are you using?
When I import .wav files to GarageBand 10.0.3 and open the .band project with ctrl-click > Show Package content, I can see, that the .wav files are stored "as is", in the original format in the Media > Audio Files folder.
But the edited song cannot be bounced as a wav file. You can only export from GarageBAnd as AIFF, MP3, or AAC.

  • Why can't one add artwork to music saved as a wave file

i can add scanned artwork to an entry in itunes only if it is saved as an AAC or MP3 file but when i try and save scanned artwork to a wave file, it doesn't afford me that choice.....any reason that would be?

It's the way WAV file formats were designed years ago by Microsoft. It's not just itunes that can't add artwork to the actual file; no jukebox player software can add artwork tags to WAV files.
If you want artwork to display in itunes for WAV files, you can get the artwork from the itunes store if
    1) you have an itunes store account
    2) that album is sold is your country's itunes store
itunes will store the artwork in some special folders outside of the WAV files, and use the itunes database file (ITL file extension) to find them as needed.
For albums not in the itunes store, you have to do something like this

For a file to be a wave file it needs a specific header format and data structure as defined by microsoft. The following is a very good resource describing the WAV file format: http://ccrma-www.stanford.edu/CCRMA/Courses/422:1998/projects/WaveFormat/
Read this document carefully and it will tell you everything you need to know about formating your anolog input into a WAV file.

  • Artwork for WAV files?

Does anyone know how to import album artwork into iTunes for a WAV file.  Nothing happens after bringing in the artwork.  Can it be done?

    @Dj_AmTraX: good tip!
I tried to first load my music as apple lossless and added the artwork (via get info, artwork, add) then loaded all the music a second time additionally in the WAV file format. The album artwork then appeared in iTunes for all the WAV files too. So one could say yes, it can be done but apparently on iTunes only with a bit of extra work and the restriction of needing to have the music stored in two different formats.
It is a pity that Apple's iTunes doesn't support linking WAV files to artwork jpgs as standard.
The more mp3-like the product the less likely they seem inclined to offer good functionality for the (hi-fi, bulkier) WAV format. Now storage is so less expensive they should maybe re-think? I find high-resolution audio files so much better on a good hi-fi system ;-)
@any_WAV_enthusiast: Who has found the method above to work for them?
Maybe someone now knows a quicker or easier method to get artwork shown for WAV files in iTunes / on i-devices?

  • I can't transfer WAV files to my zen mi

    i can't transfer WAV files to my micro.please help!i have .0.03 firmware

I'm not an expert on this, but to my knowledge there's a variety of (similar) "coding formats" that all fit under the "WAV" file format. Windows XP comes with the intelligence to play all/most of these. But perhaps the Micro only knows a (popular) subset?
That said, it may be interesting to find out the exact details of these WAV files. I _imagine_ there are tools around that analyze WAV files.

  • Wave file questi

    hi
i recorded a casssette tape using wave files with the record wizard.i added the song titles to each file.i then imported the songs into the organizer so i could made a copy of them to a cd.the only problem is
the song titles-there arent any.i couldent figure out what the titles were.i could with mp3 but mp3 is an-
other format.i need the wave file format to record cds from cassettes 78s and lp.anyone no how to fix
this so i can see the titles? thanks
    coonsanders

to record lps or cassettes, u need to connect the audio-out to the line-in on ur pc
and get a programme to record while u play it
and there is no way the track titles can get into the computer
the only thing u can do is to edit the ID3 tags...
so it depends what format u want for the recording...
in mediasource, u can always choose mp3, wma or wav...Message Edited by waihung on 2-30-2005 03:22 PM

  • Formating Itunes Music Into wav File

Hello, I am trying to utilize the music from my iTunes library in other programs, like Windows Movie Maker, but it does not support that type of file. It does support like wav files, but I don't know how to re-format my songs?
Any ideas would be so helpful!!
    Thank you,

You need to burn a CD and then use the CD to import songs into your movie making application. I have to do that with Pinnacle 10, Adobe After Effects, Adobe Premiere, and Liquid Edition. Makes for expensive stuff unless you are burning your music to CD anyway. Otherwise I purchase CD's from Walmart or other places that I can import into the Windows Media Player (make it your default) and then let iTunes import them if you want to update your iPod. It's a pain - not sure why they won't fix that problem because they are loosing my iPod Store business. Besides - sometimes Walmart is cheaper anyway. Look at it this way - at least you didn't copy over 300 CD's into iTunes only to find out that you can't use that format for the movie making apps. Now I have to import them all again using Windows Media Player... pain.

  • Importing .wav files, not formatting text

I have some music copied as .wav files that were not imported via iTunes. I now want to copy this music into my iTunes but when I do, all the information (Track Name, Album, Artist, Track Number, etc.) is all dropped into the Track Name field in iTunes. This means I must remove all info from the Track Name column by hand and (re)type all the information into each column. Does anyone have some suggestions that I am unaware of so this does it automatically?
    Thanks

WAV format files do not carry tag information. When iTunes encounters a file with no tag information (be it a WAV or another format) it uses the file name as the song name, and leaves the other fields blank.
