What about Java and sharaware market? OK or incompatible?
Does someone knows (or has itself) a successfull java shareware application project?
I mean about million downloads and thousends of customers.

As I saw on download.com there are no java-application with more then 70000 downloads (except 2 application for java developers - java-tips and java gui builder). All them have quite low user rating, and I can't imagine that one can pick up good money in a such way. Is it true?
Only 2 million downloads of JRE - so seems no too much users avalable. What about http://www.javashareware.com/ they never show download index, don't they?

"Java" doesn't have a password, unless you mean your admin password for installing software. That's whatever password you (or the person who set your computer up) used to set up your admin account. That's the same password that you use when you start up the computer if you get asked for one. You cannot retrieve this password if you've forgotten it, but you can reset it and make a new one. Part appraisal document for self and subordinates

Hi All
I have created a part appraisal document , for self and sub ordinates. When I logged in to portal , the subordinates are able to view the document whereas document created for self are unable to. For self as well as for subordinates , we have configured the document in ESS only. It may be due to some powl query issue but am unable to identify if its powl issue or some authorization issue,In either case , how to identify the same. Please suggest.

Can you clarify the issue for me - you have created one appraisal document and in the header data have defined the part appraisers as the employee and subordinates, and only the employee is unable to access the part appraisal document?
When you created the appraisal template, on the 'Roles' tab, is the role for 'Self' ticked?
Can the employee access any of his other appraisal documents from the portal?
Is IT0105 data maintained for the employee's SY-UNAME?

RESOURCE_NOT_FOUND for XSLT and Java Mappings (SXMB_MONI)

I need your opinion / experience about a problem that we have been facing here:
XI 3.0 was upgraded to PI 7.0, but since then all interfaces that uses XSLT and Java Mappings throws a RESOURCE_NOT_FOUND error in SXMB_MONI only in the production environment.
We found SAP Note 951318 that describes exactly the scenario we have here. The note also inform that the issue is solved at SP 07 (for PI 7.0).
The problem is that we find out that abap and java instance are with different SP ( SP 13 for abap and SP 09 for java) after XI upgrade to 7.0, since they had a error at java instance.
Have anyone of you facing with this problem?
I believe that even having a SP greater than 07 (as sap note 951318 requires), as we have an difference between abap and java SP, this issue might have been causing the problem.

Yes, thats true. As you can see,
In XI 3.0 (SAP Netweaver'04), the issue is solved in:
           SP 18,
           SP 17, patch 1 (archive SAPXITOOL17_1. sca for XI Tools)
           SP 16, patch 4 (archive SAPXITOOL16_4.sca for XI Tools).
you need to import and put a patch if you are using XI 3.0. but in your case it is PI 7.0.
So please check out the SAP Note : 950608 and download SP 07,patch 2 (archive SAPXITOOL07_2.sca for XI Tools).and Note 952402 .

We are looking for Time out parameters for our ABAP and JAVA instances.
As users are complaining that they are getting time out error
while they are trying to access Cprojects from Portal.
I was able to check/collect the ABAP instance parameters from SMICM Tcode.
Can anybody tell me which parameters we need to look for JAVA instance.

Individual business system for ABAP and Java Stack

Hi All,
I need to send message from a system to XI via ABAP proxy and Java proxy. The sender's ABAP and Java proxy use the same message interface to communicate with XI. Should I create one business system for the ABAP stack and one for Java stack of the sender system?

Are you sending same message type from ABAP proxy and Java Proxy to XI?
If you have ABAP proxy, why do you need Java Proxy? Actually you cannot create any Java proxies on ABAP bases systems. What kind of system sender is? Java proxies are created for pure Java based applications.
Let me know if I didnt understand your question correctly. If so, please explain in detail why you need both proxies and what is your sender application.

4.6C to ERP6.0 Upgrade - what are the recommendations for Unicode and Java

Hi All,
Forgive such a basic question.
We are just beginning to look at our ERP6.0 upgrade and am unclear whether we should convert to unicode at the same time, and also what are the uses for the Java stack.
Unicode?
We are a single language Latin-1 site so don't need Unicode. However will it become mandatory eventually? Are we better, if we have the opportunity now, just to convert. Also I believe the Java stack is only Unicode. Does ASCII ABAP and Java Unicode complicate things?

Will we need it? We are proposing a technical upgrade from our 4.6c Javaless environment. Where does Java come in to play in ERP6.0? Doesn't it increase greatly the iSeries HW requirements? (I'm looking at a 2 way 550 at the moment)

at the moment, in a latin-1 environment Unicode is for old customers not a requrirement. This might change in 5-10 years ...
Java: No problem at all with ASCII (in latin-1 environments)
=> there is no need for you, but you could go for it. We did several Unicode conversions already and these Latin-1 conversions are pretty easy and simple especially on iSeries, because of the special InPlace Unicode Conversion.
... but this can be done at any time ...

Well I found the solution for it. It looks more of a bug in sapinst that it doesn't allow to change userid !
All you need is to to create users ora<sid> and <sid>adm before running it and assign the required groups to them and it would work fine

I apologize for so many questions in such a short period
of time, but I am new to the TopLink product and just
starting to accumulate experience. Hopefully in not so
distant future I will start giving some of the knowledge
back to the community :-)
My question is about mutual references, which seem to be
the preferred way of TopLink for managing relationships
between objects.
For instance, in the A -> 1-M B relationship it is recommended to have a reference to A as a member of B.
This reference may or may not be wrapped in a
ValueHolderInterface, but regardless of that it
creates a mutual reference (i.e. A references B, B references A).
Does it not create problems for Java GC when it's
time to clean up unused objects? Are there any
recommended strategies for dealing with that sort of issue.

Garbage collectors are pretty smart these days, so it's not a big deal. Your hunch is correct though, the old "reference count" garbage collection strategies of older JVM's would have made it difficult to clean bi-directional relationships.

Flash Builder 4.0 Standalone VS Plugin for Flex and Java Development

I have recently installed Flash Builder 4.0 for a personal project. The server side of the project was going to be developed in ASP.NET but at the last minute I decided to change it to Java. However now I am wondering if it would be better to uninstall and install Eclipse with the Flash Builder 4.0 plugin.
I am not really asking which one is better, I guess both are pretty much the same (though I wonder what features are not included in the Eclipse plugin), however I want to know which one would let me create an easier workflow model for the development now that I am going to use Java as well.
I am open to other suggestions as well.

Flex Builder and Flash Builder both function as Plug-ins to Eclipse, though each also comes in a "stand-alone" flavor - which is still eclipse, but with a lot of the Eclipse functionality torn out for a smaller footprint.
