Monitor an Apache service with Solution Monitoring

Dear all,
We are using Solution Monitoring and the Service Level Reporting and now I'd like to monitor an Apache Service to see its uptime.
I tried to create a GRMG scenario for this, however I noticed that a GRMG scenario always requires a port number in the URL.
Does anybody of you know if it is possible:
     1) to monitor an Apache Service with Solution Monitoring (TA DSWP)
     2) to make it part of the Service Level reporting
     3) any other technology to make the uptime of an Apache Service part of the Service Level Reporting
Thanks a lot in advance for your help!
It is highly appreciated...
Best regards,
Roel

Hello Joe,
If u do not want to import any Structure or BOR- Object, u can follow below steps :
1. Create ur data model by adding the properties manually in SAP GW service builder with correct Edm    types.Doing this would be pain in my opinion ( sometimes we are forced to do this but no other option    doing this way )
   Create associations & navigation needed.
2. U can generate run-time objects.
3. Go to appropriate classes and implement methods with ur Business Logic.
4. Register ur service & consume.
U can also import RFC to create data model and create mapping as per required by implementing correct method as well.
once u do this generate objects and register service and consume it.
Check this out for ur info :

  • Monitoring BI PROCESS CHAIN with Solution Manager BPMON

    Hello,
I'm trying to setup the monitoring of BI process chain using the BPMON
I setup the process chain monitoring using  BPmon application monitoring "BI Process Chain Monitoring" (BOBIPCMO)
but than I'm not able to read the process chain names, steps, and variant from satellite system
On other systems, using different application monitor (like PI MONITOR) is working fine
i'm using the latest plug-in ST-A/PI 01L_BCO700 on entire landscape
    My bi system is 7.01 EHP1 sp4
    solution Manager is 7.01 EHP1 SP20
    Any suggestiions?
    Thanks
    Marco

    Hello Marco,
the problem is that the Process Chain monitor is not yet available with ST-A/PI 01L*. Unfortunately the empty hull that you see during the setup was shipped without the proper content. The Process Chain monitor will be properly shipped with the next ST-PI and ST-A/PI combination in Q2/2010.
    Sorry for any inconvenience caused.
If you want to have this monitor earlier on it could be implemented via Customer Exit in case that you have some MaxAttention or Safeguarding engagement.
    Best Regards
    Volker

  • CCMS Configuration - Central Monitoring and Email Alerts with Solution Mgr

I am trying to configure my CCMS alerts on my satellite systems to be linked into the Solution manager system (acting as the CEN monitoring node). If I have already setup my RZ20 alerts, is there a way I can just link these into Solution Manager.
    Thanking you for your suggestions

Try setting up the monitoring RFC connections in SMSY. Once those are setup, you can pull the CCMS data in and view within tran SOLUTION+MANAGER.
If you need more detail, just update this message.
    Thanks,
    J. Haynes

  • Basic Strategy / Best Practices for System Monitoring with Solution Manager

I am very new to SAP and the Basis group at my company. I will be working on a project to identify the best practices of System and Service level monitoring using Solution Manager. I have read a good amount about SAP Solution Manager and the concept of monitoring but need to begin mapping out a monitoring strategy.
We currently utilize the RZ20 transaction and basic CCMS monitors such as watching for update errors, availability, short dumps, etc.. What else should be monitored in order to proactively find possible issues. Are there any best practices you all have found when implimenting Monitoring for new solutions added to the SAP landscape.... what are common things we would want to monitor over say ERP, CRM, SRM, etc?
Thanks in advance for any comments or suggestions!

    Hi Mike,
Did you try the following link ?
If not, it may be useful to some extent:
    http://service.sap.com/bestpractices
---> Cross-Industry Packages ---> Best Practices for Solution Management
You have quite a few documents there - those on BPM may also cover Solution Monitoring aspects.

  • System Monitoring with Solution Manager Ehp1

    Hi,
I'm Tomas Piqueres, and I'm working in a VAR SAP with Solution Manager.
Recently, we installed Solution Manager Ehp1 and we are trying to configure it for System Monitoring. When I worked with Solution Manager SP17 I used to go to transaction RZ21 to add the system I wanted to monitoring and then put the SID and RFCs of the system.
Now with Solution Manager Ehp1, when I create the system in transaction RZ21, first I have to set the Component Type to Be Monitored and then the SID, Message Server Logon Group, the client and user are set automatically, and the password I've set to user CSMREG.
when I fill all the entries, I can see the RFCs used for the monitoring of the system. Those RFCs are set automatically:
    <SID>_RZ20_COLLECT
    <SID>_RZ20_ANALYZE
I can't edit those RFCs, so I have to create it manually. I check that RFCs destination works fine and both pass the authorization test, so when I try to save the system at transaction RZ21, I see the following errors:
<SID>_RZ20_COLLECT_123539Error when opening an RFC connection
Error during remote call of SAL_MS_GET_LOCAL_MS_INFO function: Error when opening an RFC connection
Error during remote call of SALC function: Error when opening an RFC connection
Error during remote call of RFC1 function: Error when opening an RFC connection
I've been looking for information about those errors and how to monitoring with Solution Manager Ehp1, but I haven't found anything usefull.
    Please, Could you help me?
    Thanks and regards,
    Tomas.

    Tomas,
I need to configure EWA from my Solman system and I completed the steps (defining and creation of RFC destinations to the target systems from my Solman system).  I downloaded the lates ccmsagent file from the market place based my target system configurations.

  • Unified Job Monitoring -Share your experiences with SAP Solution Manager 7.1

    Dear Forum members,
I woudl like to introduce myself as Raghav, S. I am in the development team responsible for building the unified job monitoring workcenter starting 7.1 SP10 (onwards).
Please post your feedback, current status wrt to setup, commmon issues in this area.
I will be more than glad to help you here.
    Regards, Raghav
    Development Manager
CLM - Solution manager team, Labs India.

    Hello Raghev,
we implemented unfied job monitoring on a larger scale by now, starting out with the monitoring of SAP Standard & Reorg Jobs.
Everything seemed quiet OK at the beginning, but over time display performance of the Monitoring UI decreased drastically (exceeding 5 Min. "per click" in the UI).
I pinned this down to the following (Oracle) SQL access:
      SELECT
      "CLIENT", "CONTEXT_ID", "TYPE_ID", "HASH_METRIC_PATH", "START_TIMESTAMP", "IS_CURRENT", "END_TIMESTAMP",
      "METRIC_PATH", "RATING_AGGREGATE", "VALUE_MIN", "VALUE_MAX", "VALUE_SUM", "VALUE_COUNT", "VALUE_LAST",
      "VALUE_DATA_TYPE", "VALUE_MAX_TIME", "LAST_TEXT"
    FROM
      "MES_DB_AGGREGATE"
    WHERE
      "CLIENT"=:A0 AND "CONTEXT_ID"=:A1 AND "TYPE_ID"=:A2 AND "IS_CURRENT"=:A3 OR "CLIENT"=:A4 AND
      "CONTEXT_ID"=:A5 AND "TYPE_ID"=:A6 AND "IS_CURRENT"=:A7 OR "CLIENT"=:A8 AND "CONTEXT_ID"=:A9 AND
      "TYPE_ID"=:A10 AND "IS_CURRENT"=:A11 OR "CLIENT"=:A12 AND "CONTEXT_ID"=:A13 AND "TYPE_ID"=:A14 AND
      "IS_CURRENT"=:A15 OR "CLIENT"=:A16 AND "CONTEXT_ID"=:A17 AND "TYPE_ID"=:A18 AND "IS_CURRENT"=:A19
The execution plan used for this SQL is:
    0
    SELECT STATEMENT
    1
    INLIST ITERATOR
    2
TABLE ACCESS BY INDEX ROWID MES_DB_AGGREGATE
    3
    INDEX RANGE SCAN  MES_DB_AGGREGATECU
MES_DB_AGGREGATE in our case has over 5 million entries.
The parameterization of the DB incl. Memory and all should be OK.
The index range scan simply takes that long.
This might be, because the MES_DB_AGGREGATECU index has the lowest cardinality column (CLIENT) first.
    Header 1
    Header 2
    COLUMN_NAME
    NUM_DISTINCT
    CLIENT
    1
    CONTEXT_ID
    433
    TYPE_ID
    2192
    IS_CURRENT
    2
Could you have your team check on this, because with the situation as is, the Job Monitoring application seemingly becomes non-usable, as soon, as you start to scale up.
    Best Regards,
    Thorsten

  • Issues with Monitoring Azure services with SCOM 2012 R2

    Hi,
I'm trying to setup monitoring of our Azure subscriptions in a new installation of Operations Manager 2012 R2 which is running in-house as it is also monitoring our internal services.  I've used the guide below:
    http://blogs.msdn.com/b/walterm/archive/2013/04/13/first-impressions-on-system-center-management-pack-for-windows-azure-fabric-preview-for-scom-2012-sp1.aspx
This has all worked OK and I've been able to add the subscription into OP Manager and it's found the cloud service, storage and VM's.  However when I try to add the monitoring and I go to create this When I select the Add option in the Add Monitoring
Wizard and click the Search button to list the components (Cloud Service, Storage and VM's) nothing is found despite me having already selected the subscription.
Has anyone else experienced this or can offer any advice?
    Many Thanks
    Colin

    Hi,
Which version of RDP client you are using for your client?
Does more user login at same period of time?
As you have commented that after sticking the user can’t able to login in RDCB server, here I can suggest you to check the setting of connection broker. Also you can check that you have place the proper location path of UPD while configuring in collection configuration
wizard. You can take a look at below article foe virtual desktop configuration.
Deploying Virtual Desktops with Windows Server 2012
Are you trying to use same UPD for different collection then also it might happens to occur your issue. The fact of UPD is User profile disks are for a single collection only. A user connecting to two different collections will have two separate profiles. If
you want to synchronize settings, refer to Microsoft User Experience Virtualization. Go through this article for more understanding related to UPD.

    Hope it helps!
    Thanks.

  • Web service interfaces for monitoring Hosts and instances with SAPHostControl, saphostexec and sapstartsrv

    Hi All,
I need to develop a monitoring application for SAP system which will monitor both Host systems and instances.
For this I need to collect Host data as well as instance data. In the below links I could find the SAP netweaver
    monitoring agents
Monitoring Hosts with SAPHostControl and saphostexec - Infrastructure of the SAP NetWeaver Management Agents - SAP Libra…
Central Monitoring with SAP NetWeaver Management Agents - Infrastructure of the SAP NetWeaver Management Agents - SAP Li…
Administration/Monitoring of SAP Components with sapstartsrv - Infrastructure of the SAP NetWeaver Management Agents - S…
These links tell that CCMS agent is replaced by these agents from SAP Netweaver 7.0 Eph 2.
I found below doc which explains "How to use the SAPControl Web Service Interfaces" exposed by "sapstartsrv" to execute instance specific tasks,
But it does not tells any methods/APIs/webservice interfaces specific to Host system or get OS data using "saposcol".
    SAP Control WebService
Similar to this, Is there any API/webservice to retrieve the OS and Host related data??.
Also, Is there any other doc for SAPHostControl or saphostexec similar to sapstartsrv ??
    Thanks,
    Swapnil

    Hi Swapnil,
I too wanted this info and came across these.
Take a look at these urls :-
    http://localhost:1128/SAPHostControl/?wsdl
    http://localhost:1128/SAPOscol/?wsdl
    grep saphost /etc/services
    saphostctrl     1128/tcp        # SAPHostControl over SOAP/HTTP
    saphostctrls    1129/tcp        # SAPHostControl over SOAP/HTTPS
    Hope this helps.
    Cheers

  • SABRIX/JBOSS monitoring with Solution Manager and Wily Introscope

Reading SCN discussions it is not quite clear to me if an extra (Wily) license is needed for monitoring SABRIX/JBOSS with Solution Manager and Wily Introscope. Does someone have experience in this area what exact to do?

  • DSWP Solution Monitoring some Alerts with a grey ranking

    Hallo Solman Gurus,
I have a problem since I have seted up the solution Monitoring in transaction DSWP. Some of my monitored Elements have a grey ranking (like the SAPOSCOL status). It very strange, when I navigate to the Alert overview it shows me the green, yellow and red ranking for the selected MTE's and also this gray ranking.
My first suggestion was, the the selected MTE is only a info Element, like the IP Adress, means the MTE show only a static value after its started. But I got also the grey ranking for Security, Syslog and TMS MTE's.
When I commit all red rankings in of a system and go back to the System overview, the former commited system has a general grey status and not a green. Does anybody knows, what this grey status means and how I can solve the issue, the the MTE's have the correct ranking??? My Solman Version is 7EHP1 SP3.
    Thanks and Bye.

    Hello,
Please check the following two notes which should resolve your issue:
762696 - Grey rating for Earlywatch Alert
1322899 - EWA incomplete after importing EHP/product incorrect
    Thanks,

  • You cannot shadow a session with multiple monitors enabled in Windows Server 2008 R2

Searching through the forums (and according to KB2484290) it appears that there is no solution to this problem.  We are rolling out thin clients that are using dual monitors exclusively and we were very surprised to find out that we couldn't shadow
sessions with dual monitors (which to us means that we can't shadow ANY sessions).  This now completely changes our approach to managing these devices.
We are running Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1 with Remote Desktop Services installed.  The thin clients are running Windows Embedded Standard 7 with the latest updates / RDP client. All steps have been followed to ensure that the apropriate settings and
permissions have been set up to allow access into the session.
We tested by unchecking the RDP setting “use all my monitors for the remote session”, with that setting disabled shadowing worked
    Questions:
    1. KB2484290 is from Dec 2010 - It's now April 2012, is there a workaround / hotfix for this issue that will allow us to shadow sessions using the native Microsoft tools?
    2. Are there any recommended alternatives (software)?  Free/Paid - doesn't matter we just need something that will work.  I'm sure there are a few options out there but I am looking for suggestions for what people have used in the past that worked
best for them to help us narrow down the choices.

    Hi,
In my experience, so far, the workaround is Remote Assistance, Remote Assistance supports multiple monitors, and is the presently recommended solution if you need this functionality. Remote Assistance is a Windows Server Feature that must be explicitly installed
on Windows Server 2008 R2; it is already installed with the client versions of the operating system.

As far as I know, there are some third-party tools can be used as the solution, such as Teamviewer, ISL Online, etc.

    HI Mayank,
I have followed the below steps.
    basic steps for JAVA EWA:
configure solution manager diagnostics tool in solman
install wily interscope manager in solman
install SMD agents in satellite system
install wily agents in satellite system.
make sure about the sp level in satellite system.
The wily files depends on the SP - level

  • Users with two monitors

    Hi:
I have an application using either JInitiator 1.3.x or Sun Java Plug-In 1.4.2.x which works fine.
But I have several users with two monitors and if the user move the application to the secondary monitor the menu didn't work (using JInitiator or Sun JPI).
We are trying to move our iAS configuration to use only Sun JPI.
Is any solution for that behavior of the application when I have two monitors.

Has anyone tried to apply this patch to a middle-tier installation of just Forms and Reports Services, rather than a full Oracle AS installation? Do you know if this patch can be used in this way? The Readme is full of info about things like OID and Metadata Repositories which don't really apply to us.
I'm also worried (and unclear) about what databases are supported by this patch - in one place it says the minimum db version for patch 10.1.2.2 is DB 10g, whereas elsewhere it talks about only needing DB 9.2.0.7. (Neither of which is good for us, we're still on 9.2.0.6.) But then, for an install of just Forms and Reports Services, maybe I won't need to apply the database part of the patch..?
I'd be intererested if anyone else has patched a pure Forms and Reports install...
