Monitor Died need connector

Hi,
I have a iMac pedestal version which has worked great for years, however the screen just died. I thought about connecting the computer up to another monitor or TV so wanted a connector. I bought a mini-DVI to VGA connector but it's the wrong part (the DVI connector is wrong). Does anybody know the part number for the connector I need?

Question: Is there a quick/easy/free way to get to my iMac (like something similar to remote desktop etc...)?
I know I can boot it just to access the drives from my iBook or iMac but would like to run some of my apps.

What apps do you need to run? Many vendors (Adobe especially) have trial downloads of their apps that might hold you over until the display is replaced.
Unless you enabled a Remote Desktop user or SSH in System Preferences>Sharing before your display died you'll have a tough time accessing anything over a network. If you have another Intel based machine you could boot it from the Mac Pro's HD and access it that way, but I'm afraid that's not an option with your two PPC Macs.

2nd Monitor died - How does one grab tools back from "that" desktop?

Hi -
One of our two monitors died. There are tools on the 2nd monitor's desktop that we can't "see" until the 2nd monitor returns. How do we pull those tools over to the main desktop?
Also, there are a few finder windows that are too large to grab the bottom scaler and shrink them back. (There is no tool bar on the top of the second monitor giving just a little bit more room.) Is there a minimize button somewhere for "finder" windows?

Ps - just found the "zoom" button on my own - so - I have the finder windows under control - now to learn how to get to that other desktop without the view into the other desktop!

I replace my win7 pc with a win8.1 pc. the TV monitor I was using with Win7 worked fine with 1360x768 resolution, however I don't have that choice with the Win8.1. I tried for months now with default & custom settings. I think is that Win8.1 sees the
display as Funai TV (Sylvania) where as Win7 as the Intel video display driver.
Some suggest edit the monitor.ini, not sure if that will work!
Any help is appreciated!

Based on my research, the resolution of second monitor should be managed by PC's graphic card driver, not Windows. That's to say, if the graphic card driver doesn't had a correspond setting to change display resolution settings, I'm afraid we have no way
to change the resolution to 1366x768.

Please correct me someone, but TFT monitors don't use phosphors at all :) (unless they mean something else by this calibration)
Their technology is based on Thin Film Transistors rather than the old classic way of having electrons created in a tube shoot towards the phosphor-front on the monitor.
Only Plasma screens and CRT monitors would need such adjustment.
Btw, using a screen-saver on TFT screens is unnecessary as this technology does not BURN IN a picture like on phosphor based screen. Only the Backlight gets weak which means it's better to "Power off" your monitor rather than make a windows logo pop up from one corner to the other every couple of seconds.

I keep getting an error message "To open X1100 Series Button Monitor, you need to install Rosetta". I used to have a Lexmark X1100 printer attached to this Mac. How can I stop this error?

I just had a new hard drive put in my IMac and ever since I got it home this error pops up "To open X1100 Series Button Monitor, you need to install Rosetta. Would you like to install it now? Two years ago I had a Lexmark printer attached to this Mac. I'm not sure why this is happening as I believe I have move all Lexmark files to the Trash bin. Does anyone know how I can stop getting this error? Thanks.

Check in System Preferences> Printers to see if the Lexmark is still showing in your printer list. If it is, click it and hit the minus button to remove it.
If it's not showing, when you trashed the Lexmark software, did you notice if there was an uninstall file? Sometimes just moving unwanted programs to the trash can doesn't get rid of all of the installed software and the software manufacturers include an uninstall option to remove those 'hidden additional files'.
Check support at Lexmark's web site to see if they offer a solution.

I work in the power conversion industry and do these types of measurements all the time…
Do you want to just measure power quality or create and measure power quality problems?
What hardware are you using?
Power quality analyzer?
Programmable AC power source?
Fast Transient Generator?
Here is an example of what I do.
To create PQ problems I use a California Instruments AC source set to nominal power for the unit under test. Using Labview I program several transients consisting of fixed and random duration dropouts and surges. I also use a Schaffer Fast Transient Burst Generator to apply high frequency noise bursts directly onto power lines.
For measuring power quality I use a Voltech PM3000A power analyzer and Labview to measure everything from voltage, current, and frequency, to harmonics and %THD

We currently have the ability for users to submit tickets into Service Manager via email.
Can someone suggest a way we can monitor the email connector flow...so that if the emails stop working we can receive an alert?

You can add an event log's monitor in SCOM for events with the source
Exchange Connector in the Operations Manager log of the SCSM management server where Exchange connector is deployed. It will help to catch errors. However, if for some reasons the connector's workflow doesn't run at all, you have to monitor the
status of the rule that EC's wizard creates. The EC's rule name always looks like ExchangeConnector.eac55a54037b43f78d83e6fhaf59d657, so you can get it by running the PS code like this from the Service Manager shell:

Considering buying a Mac Mini but I need to know about support for dual monitors using DVI connectors.

I have a couple of DVI monitors and I'm looking to replace my Windows desktop with a Mac Mini. I found an article that says it supports dual monitors with Thunderbolt, but I can't find any discussion of using it with existing monitor, or running multiple DVI displays off a single Thunderbolt port.
Has anyone done this? If so, what's the best way to achieve it?

Yes, the Mac Mini has both an HDMI and Thunderbolt/MiniDisplay Port and supports dual displays in either Mirroring or Extended Desktop Mode.
It ships with an HDMI to DVI adapter that you can use for one DVI Display.
For the second DVI display you will need to buy a > Mini DisplayPort to DVI Adapter and plug that into the Thunderbolt/MiniDisplay Port.

Powerbook monitor died...how do i recover files?

I have a powerbook titanium and the monitor has died. It would cost like 400$ to replace the monitor so i bought a new macbook. how would i go about getting my data in the harddrive out? I was thinking two solutions
1) remove hardrdive put it in a ide 2.5 inch enclosure connect it to a laptop?
2) plug it into a external monitor hit the hot key to switch to external monitor and retrive data from there
which would work best? i am new to mac.s also can i buy a used powerbook off ebay that has a working lcd and replace it myself ?

I don't run Tiger, but thought I'd heard it had a migration assistant which automatically ran when you first start up the new PB to transfer data from earlier Mac to newer Mac? Need a FW cable, but not sure if you need to connect it first or it'll ask you to do it when you set up the new MB.
Last FW cable I bought was about $12; if you google for it, you should find one for well under $20 US.

MBPro Retina connection to a WQHD Monitor with Displayport connector

Which cable do I need to connect my MBPro Retina (late 2013) with a BenQ WQHD Monitor (GW2765HT).
Did not found a cable in the apple store.
I assume I need to buy a cable externally something like miniDP to DP and connect directly into the thunderbolt connector.

Mine is connected to a TB port on the iMac, it will be the same on the MBP. The great thing is, it just works.

2010 MBA with Samsung BX2231 monitor? (HDMI connector)

Will my 2010 13" MBA work with this monitor?
I read in this forum that connecting a MBA to a monitor via HDMI creates problems.
Is this true?
The Samsung BX2231 only has one D-sub and two HDMI connectors. (no DVI)

It is fine. I need a third-party Mini DisplayPort to HDMI Adapter. Also the software update 10.6.5 solved a lot of issues.
