my monitor dims and brightnes by itself while in a work session..nothing i do knowingly to cause this.
what is the fix?

System Preferences > Monitors.
Make sure the checkbox for "Automatically adjust Brightness" is not selected.

Half of my monitor dims and brightens randomly and the automatic brightness is turned off. It started doing it before and I turned off the automatic brightness. Now it's doing it to the entire or screen or sometimes it just does it to only half the screen. How can I fix this or what is wrong?
Sounds like a bad backlight or backlight inverter.
Contact Apple Support or call your Local Apple Service Provider and make arrangements to have it checked out. -
I have used my iSight without any problems until recently. I am now periodically getting dimming and brightening of the screen during an iChat. I thought it might be the connection since I just started using an iMac magnetic holder when I recently got an iMac G5. This connector seems to make it more difficult to get a good firm connection. When I unplug the iSight and then plug it back in, it seems to work for a while, and then the problem happens again. Any ideas how to fix this?

Since my G5 died I was thinking about getting a Mac Mini, but I have a ViewSonic Monitor (from 2004) and a USB keyboard and mouse - I also have the external drive that I downloaded my files on to. Do you think the monitor, keyboard and mouse will work on it? Would I have to get a hub so I could use the stuff I already have? Is that viewsonic too old to work on it?
What else would I need? Please advise...Yes for keyboard and mouse.
The monitor will work if it has an HDMI, VGA ir DVI input. If it only has a VGA input you will need this adopter

Why does my screen keep dimming and brightening?
I'm just sitting here in front of my fire during a mid-March snow storm in Maine, and my screen keeps dimming and then brightening. It's getting quite annoying. What is going on?
OK, I figured it out - it's the auto brightness adjustment. Found the answer in the pane to the right of my comment.

IPhone 6+ Dims and Brightens Randomly During Calls
When I'm on a call on speaker, with the phone just lying on a table, the screen will go from bright to dim on its own after a period of time (no surprise there -- my old 5 would do that too). But then after a few seconds, the screen will brighten back to normal again.
The interval between dim to bright seems random. It appears to have no connection with the ambient light in the room, the proximity sensor, or motion.
Anyone else notice this?Yeah man, i've got the exact same problem and had it a few times! i've fixed it once but now can't remember what i did lol.. have you replaced the volume/headphone flex? because that makes sense... otherwise it could be the sim card? please let me know if you have any luck

Music skips and pauses during work out
Ciao a tutti,
I like to use my iPhone when I'm working, stapping it to my arm with an XtremMac SportWrap, and listening to my playlists.
I'm running for about 40 minutes and usually about halfway through my workout, or towards the end, the music starts wigging out. It pauses, then skips ahead to the next track, pauses again, on and on. Sometimes it just stops playing and I have to hit play again.
After my second trip the Mac Genius he replaced it. But it's now happening to the SECOND ONE!
My fear is that it's a corrupt music file, which would kill me because I have over 20,000 songs in my iTunes. The other possibility is maybe it's heating up too much during my work out. ???
Has anybody had this problem before!One thing you might take a look at.
be conscience of any moisture getting in the microphone on the earbud cables when your working out.
This could cause the contacts to short out and as a result the music could start pausing, or skipping.

The Forward and Back buttons are dimmed and don't work, and "Search Bookmarks and History" is in the URL bar. Also, I sometimes find blank pages with "Search Bookmarks and History" in the URL bar after visiting some websites.

Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of the add-ons is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).

Do I need to use an apple monitor for my pc to work right.
I brought a G5 tower without a hard drive. Put a new 1 terabite hard drive and got new osx 10.5. Having trouble installing the osx. Seems like the optical drive is not reading the disk. Swapout optical drives with one from another working pc (dell), still not reading disk. Do I really need to have apple
keyboard, mouse, and monitor, for it to work properly. Am I just waisting time and money.A windows monitor, mouse, and keyboard will work on most older Mac computers. However you really need a Apple keyboard because there are some different keyboard keys your gonna need like the Apple and Option key that a windows keyboard doesn't have.
As far as the hard drive I work mostly on windows hardware so someone like BDAqua would be very knowledgeable with that. I seem to think you need the hardware drivers for the G5 that may or may not be with the new OS 10.5? A Dell hard drive will not work with the G5 if it already has a windows OS installed to it, you'd have to reformat the Dell hard drive while in a Dell computer to erase it. Your not wasting your time. -

The Yosemite upgrade very often damages existing Photoshop installations. Thank Apple for that.

Ipod touch screen is dimmed and won't brighten
i turned my ipod touch on one day and it was fine then the next thing i knew was the screen dimmed like it does before it goes into it's lock mode, but when i push the menu or power button the screen stays dimmed and i have tried several things to brighten the screen but nothing works. can anyone help me with this problem because i can't use my ipod touch anymore now?

I've got a MacBook Pro 15' running 10.6.6. I want to use an external monitor for my graphic design work using Adobe software and thought I'd try an HD TV. I ran a Mini Display to HDMI lead to the TV but the picture quality was disappointing. I also tried a Mini Display to VGA lead and that wasn't much better. I tried all variations of resolutions in System prefs - Displays but nothing helped. Am I getting something wrong? Thanks all.
In addition to pixel density, you are up against the translation driver card in the TV.
If you read the fine print of computer-resolution-capability in the TV user guide, you will see a chart as tall as the manual page. At the top is the smallest resolution capable, at the bottom is the full use of the 1080p in the TV.
Mac falls into the top 25% of the page, maxing out at 1366x768 often. This is because the TV control card is expected to do too much of the work, but is not designed for computer-monitor processing.
I looked at the resolution charts on 2 TVs before deciding to buy a 1080p LCD monitor that has a TV interface/connector. Computer monitor first, TV second. But the thing is only 27 in. Good thing TV is not as important to me as it is to others. -
I have a PowerBook G4 with a non-functioning monitor. It used to work with an external monitor, but I reinstalled the OS, which cleared the display preferences and now when I restart it won't detect the external monitor. This means I can't use the computer anymore. How do I fix? I tried using the Command+F2 keyboard shortcut, but it doesnt' work. It's possible that since I reinstalled the OS, it still needs to be set up, so there's only a welcome screen (but since I can't see it I'm not sure).

Did you try to hook up both monitors to the Belkin adaptor? Trying will determine if your monitor has a bad input port. See if the Belkin adaptor is the problem. I have never used that specific adaptor, but I have always had luck with the Dr. Bott's DVI for ADC adaptor. Best of luck.

Adobe BRIDGE CS 5 PHOTO DOWNLOADER freezes and/or stops working during download after 2 years of use. I have uninstalled/re installed twice, cleaned system, adjusted Bridge settings with no change. And I have found no helpful troublshooting tips in forum or on web.
Does it freeze with other type of cards. Have seem some post that suggest an imbedded CODEC on the flash card can cause file corruption in Bridge and Mac Finder.

Used to be I'd import an Mp3 music track, render it once, then could manipulate levels to my hearts content without having to render again. Now, suddenly, for some unknown reason, every time I manipulate the level, I have to render. Some setting some
