Monitor doesn't fill the screen

Hi all, I'm using an Asus VN247 monitor along with my macbook pro (either 2012 or 2013 I cant remember which year) and it doesnt fill up the entire screen on the windows side (8.1).  When I switch back over to the mac side however it works fine and fills to the edge.  Does anyone know a fix for this?  I have the settings to the highest resolution, 1920X1080 and cant find anything else that will effect it.

look under macbook pro here and download and install the right driver set for your specific machine

Uncheck Mirrored, you'll then be in Extended mode:

  • HT201335 Hi.  I have an apple tv and am able to mirror the image on my ipad to my tv, however it doesn't fill the full screen.  Is there a way to get a full image on my 32" Tv.  Thanks a lot for your help

HI.I have an apple TV and am able to mirror the image on my ipad onto the screen.  However, it doesn't fill the full 32" screen.  Is there some way to project a bigger image onto the Tv.  Thanks for your help

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
Mirroring won't fill the TV screen. The iPad has an aspect ratio of 4:3 and the iPhone 4S or prior an aspect ratio of 3:2, neither of these will fit exactly into a TV screen which as an aspect ratio of 16:9. The Apple TV will not zoom the mirrored image, because it may well cut off information which is situated at the top or bottom of the screen.
You may wish to try each of the settings in ‘Settings > Audio & Video > Adjust for AirPlay overscan’ for the best setting that suits you.

  • The picture from my AppleTv on my Samsung LCD TV doesn't fill the entire screen.  It is only a strip across the screen

The picture on the screen when viewing movies on Apple TV on a samsung lcd screen is only a strip across the screen and doesn't fill the entire screen.  Any settings suggestions?

If you can get to the settings on the AppleTV attempt to adjust the resolution settings to something more appropriate.
    This may help

  • Doesn't Fill Up Screen - Help

I just got my first Apple Computer (IMac) and am surprised to find out that the Text on the internet does not fill up the screen. I have asked the help desk how to make it bigger and they suggested command +. Unfortunately, that makes the words bigger, but still does not fill the page and the letters start to overlap. Does anyone know how to set the preferences so the internet page fills the screen.
    Shelly Girl,
PS I have stretched the screen and that just extends the blue background...not what I want to do.

    Hi Shelly
Welcome to Apple Discussions and Mac Computing
Are you referring to the size of the browser window or the size of the text?
Text is increased by going to the Safari Menu (to the right of the Apple icon at the top left of your monitor) and selecting Preferences. In the Appearance panel>Standard font, click on the "select" button. In the Font panel that opens, select a number larger than the existing setting under the size column, then close the panel.
If you are looking to expand the size of the window, click/hold the bottom right corner (where you see diagonal lines) and extend it to the desired size. Then, click on the red button to close the window. Next, File Menu>New Window. The new window ought to be the same size as the one you resized.

  • IPhone IOS 7.1 incoming call picture size now small. How can I get it to fill the screen like before?

Just had the upgrade to IOS 7.1 and now with an incoming call, the associated picture is just a thumbnail, instead of filling the screen.  Anyone know how to change this?  I tried specifically associating a picture on my phone with a contact and trying it, but still was a thumbnail.

This change that Apple made is disconcerting.  It shows that whomever is now in-charge of these decisions at Apple doesn't have what it takes.   There's something seriously missing with this decision and the change to less usability is incredibly misguided.   Who wants their contacts to appear in a little cartoon-like round bubble and the incoming caller can't easily be recognized??   As someone who has used a Mac since 1984, there's something seriously wrong with their design guidance.  Apple likes to create products that "delight" and this doesn't.

  • How to FILL the Screen in iPhoto 11

    I have a 27" iMac.
I want to FILL the screen in iPhoto like I can with the desktop feature to fill the screen.
The full-screen option in iPhoto only fills about 2/3 of the 27" monitor with aphoto in landscape [versus portrait] orientation. Less than that with portrait orientation. Obviously, the bigger, the better to see, and I would like to take advantage of my monitor size.

    Welcom3 to the discussions, smbc.
Although these options exist, an LCD monitor uses real pixels and is really intended to be run at the native (ie maximum) resolution. It will look pretty terrible otherwise.

  • Apple TV Apps Not Filling The Screen

When watching ANY app (Netflix, Watch ESPN, etc.) through my Apple TV 3, the video does not fill the screen.  I have about 3 inches on the right and left of my video, even though the videos are in 1080p HD 16:9 aspect.  I understand there are issues of mirroring, but this is happening while watching directly through the Apple TV.  Is there a fix that I am missing?

It is not the TV, I assure you.  It is a feature of the new software update, along with zero connectivity and other issues described in several other posts.
"I have all the same issues.  Not enjoying the new update and hoping for a software solution soon.  Restarting every piece of equipment and changing cables to direct hard wiring doesn't help on my setup, so... Hoping for the best.   In fact, mine all say they can't connect to the internet even though every other device in our household is connected, either wirelessly or via hard wire, without issue.
I can't stream audio or video.  It's awesome.  But, I'm sure Apple will fix it.  It's definitely a software bug to have so many people working fine and then WHAM...
There appear to be many others with the same issue on here.  "

You could try a reset and see if that fixes it : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.
If it doesn't then you could try restoring to your last backup and/or resetting back to factory defaults. But if it's a hardware issue then you will need to contact Apple.

  • Unable to get HD Wide Screen 16:9 to fill the screen on TV.

    12/20/08
Problem: I am not able to get HD Wide Screen 16:9 to fill the screen on TV. Leaves dark bands on the top and bottom of picture.
What I'm working with: Mac Pro Quad-Core Intel Xeon Processors with 2GB Memory soon to be 6GB & 30 inch screen. QuickTime Pro 7.5.5, Final Cut Express 4.0.1, and iDVD, 7.0.2.
New JVC, GZ-HD3U camcorder with QuickTime conversion software, recently updated, provided by JVC with the camera to change native TOD. files created in the camcorder to native MPEG2 files in Quicktime at a size of 1920 x 1080.
Two TV's, one Wide Screen HD and the other standard screen. I have changed the TV aspect rations back and forth from 4:3 to 16:9 and the only thing that changes is the size of the black bands on the top and bottom of the screen. The black spaces are larger in 16:9, making the picture appear squeezed.
I am using RW DVD discs so I can continue to try different setups without wasting discs and so far I have tried about 12 different arrangements. Two methods work but they are export conversions to a 4:3 aspect ratio and 720X480DV/DVCPRO-NTSC. Certainly this is a work around, but doing this looses the Wide Screen HD effects provided by the original JVC movies.
When I import the clips, and I've tried a number of different imports from QuickTime to Final Cut Express, I make sure that the Sequence set up matches or comes as close as possible to the imported clips. I've tried exporting them from FCE without changes and I have exported them using QuickTime to change them to different formats using nearly everything available trying to get the clips or sequences ready to import to iDVD.
In iDVD I have set up using both aspect ratios and it appears as thought setting up in 16:9 makes the spaces above and below even larger on TV. In fact it creates these spaces above and below even on the 720X480DV/DVCPRO-NTSC clips that work just fine on the 4:3 aspect ratio settings on the same TV.
If anyone has overcome this problem, I would greatly appreciate your guidance. So far, I've spent over a 100 hours on it to no avail.
    Larry

Tom, I don't know where to go in FCE to create a AVCHD AIC Sequence. I can find the
1920X1080i60 in the Sequence format without any problem. And in QT don't know where to select AIC but I select Apple Intermediate Codec, and under compressor I select HDV 1080i interlaced frame rate 29.97. Under Export Size Settings I don't know rather to select 1920 x 1080 HD or HD 1920 x 1080 16:9 and what about preserve aspect ratio using and Deinterlace Source Video?
Part two: When I create a Sequence in FCE with the 1920X1080i60 designation, and then import a QT HD 1920X1080 16:9 Intermediate Codec clip into a bin and then open the clip in that sequence I'm asked if I want to match the clip to the sequence and if I don't I have rendering. If I match them the rendering, as you said, goes away. However, I notice that when I check out the Item Properties on them after the above process, the Aspect ratio in the clip and Sequence, suddenly becomes HD 1440x1080. Is this normal?

  • Workspace doesn't fit the screen anymore...

    Hello.
Since today (and Mac OS X's update I installed this morning, I guess), my Photoshop CS6 workspace doesn't fit the screen of my 12 inch Cintiq (connected to a 2014 Macbook Air).  No matter what I do, it keeps it wrong.
Trying to set the photoshop window to the whole Cintiq screen with the "green" Mac OS corner button, this is what I get:
Hitting F won't do the trick, this is what it gets me:
I tried to clear the Photoshop prefs, without success.  I checked for updates and found there was a Photoshop update I had not yet installed, and I did install it, to no success.  Needless to say, this makes my copy of Photoshop most unusable, which is a really big problem for an illustrator like me.  I really wish I can solve this as soon as possible.
    Thanks.

Yeah, no results. Still the same.
If I take my main window and move it up by myself, it's just gonna stay there until the next click somewhere, then it gets back to this wrong placement,.

  • How Can I Change the Size of My Home Page So That It Fills the Screen?

I have a PowerBook G4. Up until a couple of weeks ago when I opened Safari the home page filled the screen. Something has happened and now it fills only a portion of the screen. I can move the page around, change the size slightly by using the green button next to the minimizing button, but nothing I do will enlarge it to fill the screen. I have gone to View and Preferences, but find nothing to resolve this. Please help!

You're welcome Maureen. Glad I could help.

  • How can I make iPhone 4S Video's fill the screen when using them in iMovie 11 on My MacBook Pro

    Hey Guys.
I am a singer songwriter from he UK.... I recently bought an Iphone4s, Ipad and Mac book pro (haha, apple hero, I know). I have always wanted to make the big jump to apple, just was waiting a little while.
I am thrilled so far, it's all great. But, I use Imovie (i am still getting to grips with it, but the features are amazing) to make videos of me singing coversand original videos for youtube.
The Camera on the iphone4s is great.
But, when I import videos into Imovie11, the videos do not fill the screen in their original form.
In some videos, I use the Ken Burns effect. Now, on the parts of my video when I use this effect, it fills the screen as it should do.
Why do the videos in their untampered form not do this?  I have tried importing widescreen, original size, and Large, but it alwys sits in the middle of the screen, fairly thin lookin. It fills the screen when it's on my Iphone, I am very lost.
    plesse help.
    thanks.

if i can offer any more info please just ask

  • Is it possible to get the image from the i pad when mirroring via Apple TV to fill the screen instead of appearing as a screen within a screen?

When mirroring, is it possible to get the image from the ipad to fill the screen on the TV instead of appearing as a screen within a screen?

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
No, the iPad has an aspect ratio of 4:3, a TV has an aspect ratio of 16:9, to fit one into the other is impossible without distorting the picture. If your TV has a zoom feature, you may be able to use this to fill the screen a little more to your liking, but this will result in cropping top and bottom.
