Monitor for Macbook Pro, Please help!!!

Hey guys,
I have a middle 2009 Macbook Pro, and want to connect an external monitor as primary monitor. My budget is around 300-400, and hope to find a relatively perfect one in that price range. I'm really care about brightness, and don't like dim/dark ones. I mainly use the monitor to watch movies and play a few games. 27 inch would be perfect....well, if it has to be smaller.
if anyone is familiar with monitor, please help me out.
I'm considering HP 2711X, Samsung P2770 HD.
any suggestions would be appreciated!!

I am surprised no one asked you the following question regarding your response.
What if I don't what 2 displays and I only want to support the external monitor? Can I be in extended mode and have only 1 display?
The reason why I ask is because I am going to buy a dock for my MacBook (2012). The dock forces the MacBook to close thereby rendering the internal display useless.
I think what I am after is some sort of "extended to external" mode.

Replacement System Discs can be obtained from Apple's Customer Support - US (800) 767-2775 for a nominal fee. You'll need to have the model and serial number of your Mac available.
If you're not in the US, you may need to go through the regional Apple Store that serves your location to find the contact number - http://store.apple.com/Catalog/US/Images/intlstoreroutingpage.html

i cant connect my new wimax usb stick bm328 on my macbook pro. please help me

The Hardware Test detected a RAM problem.  Take out the chips and make certain that the connections are clean and reinstall them.  Make certain that they are well seated.
If the problem occurs again, test with one chip at a time.  Also swap bays if necessary.
Please indicate if you have installed new RAM and if so what brand and the specifications.
    Ciao.

  • Slow Macbook Pro- please help, I don't understand previous advice.

    Hello all,
I have a very slow Macbook Pro running on Lion 10.7.3.
I looked up this problem on the forums before I sent this message but I didn't quite understand the advice. I have been on something called Disk Utility and Activity Monitor but don't really understand what I'm looking for. It seems a large percentage of my mac is 'idle' if that makes sense. Someone said to look at Page Out but I really don't understand what that means and what sort of numbers are normal.
I do have some storage left so I don't think it could be that. A lot of my gigabytes seem to be taken up by movies and 'other'. I've tried deleted a load of videos but it hardly made a difference. I have Mac Mail and it seems very slow on my Macbook compared to on my Ipad and iphone. iCal is also very slow on here and it always takes a while to load internet pages. It isnt the wifi connection.
Please help and bear in mind I am by no means a Mac whizz so you might have to talk in layman's terms!
    Thanks,
    Amy

If you have more than ten or so files or folders on your Desktop, move them, temporarily at least, somewhere else in your home folder.
If iCloud is enabled, disable it.
Disconnect all wired peripherals. Launch the usual set of applications you use when you notice the problem.
    Step 1
Launch the Activity Monitor application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ If you’re running Mac OS X 10.7 or later, open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Activity Monitor in the page that opens.
    Select the CPU tab.
Select All Processes from the menu in the toolbar, if not already selected.
Click the heading of the % CPU column in the process table to sort the entries by CPU usage. You may have to click it twice to get the highest value at the top. What is it, and what is the process? Also post the values for % User, % System, and % Idle at the bottom of the window.
Select the System Memory tab. What values are shown in the bottom part of the window for Page outs and Swap used?
    Step 2
Launch the Console application in the same way as above, and select “kernel.log” from the file list. Post the dozen or so most recent messages in the log — the text, please, not a screenshot.
If there are runs of repeated messages, post only one example of each. Do not post many repetitions of the same message.

  • External Monitor for Macbook Pro (Use for Audio)

    Hey
Well I have a Macbook Pro and am looking to get an extra monitor because I am an Audio Production major and need the space.
I'm looking for about 20-22 inch range and maybe one that swivels so it is horizontal or vertical.
Please let me know what you think.
    Thanks
    Ryan

Be very careful what you buy, and if at all possible test it with the computer before you buy it. A few times. These things just stop detecting external monitors for no reason sometimes, as well as just refusing to ever detect certain monitors.
Maybe someone here has a set-up that's working for them, that's your safest option.

  • Final Cut Crashes on macbook pro, please help!

    Hi!
I just bought Final Cut Studio 3, but Im having some issues. Final Cut Pro 7 crashes at startup, everytime. Motion 4 crashes when I click on "file". Color and DVD studio works okay-ish (I havent tried them out extensively)
Could this be due to my macbook pro 4.1 not being good enough? I have 4 gb ram, 2,4 ghz, and I dont think it has integrated graphics, so it seems to pass all requirements.
Please help me! I paid lots of money for this program, so it would be a shame if I cant get it to work.

    Hi Mads,
These are the specs recommended by apple.

Also, do you have any third party filters/effects loaded.

  • TS3775 27" iMac as monitor for MacBook Pro?

Can someone please suggest the easiest way for me to use my 27" iMac as a monitor for my MacBook Pro? Both are using OS X 10.7.4. Thank you.

Please read both Target Display Mode 2009 & 2010 iMacs & Target Display Mode 2011 Macs ,your machine may or may not support Target Display Mode, these two Apple Advice letters will answer the question. You have not provided enough information for us to tell, because your iMac could be any 27" model and the same with your MBP. We need the specific models. If both your machines are 2011 then yes, if the iMac is 2011 and the MBP is 2011 or 2012 yes. If the iMac is a 2009 or 2010 and the MBP is 2011 or later no, if the MBP has a mini display port (earlier than 2011) then yes.

  • Which monitor for macbook pro?

I just got a 13' retina macbook pro and I really like the display.  Now I want an external monitor to use when I'm at my desk but I'm afraid I'm going to be disappointed in the quality of any of the external monitors in my price range. Any suggestions on which one to buy? What is the minimum resolution that I should look for?  I don't want to spend more than $300 if I can help it and I'll probably get one that is ~24 inches. Is there anything approaching the quality of the built in retina display in that price range?

The Dell UltraSharp is an excellent option. It connects via display port so you only need a mini display port (thunderbolt) to display port cable.

  • Compatible Monitor for MacBook Pro late 2011

Hello, I would like to purchase a monitor to use with my MacBook Pro "Core i7" 2.2 15" Late 2011
I found some cheap models from Dell but I'm not exactly sure what specs to look for in order to have a fully compatible monitor.
    Could you eventually help me?
    Thank you in advance
    MacBook Pro's Technical Specs (from http://www.everymac.com/systems/apple/macbook_pro/specs/macbook-pro-core-i7-2.2- 15-late-2011-unibody-thunderbolt-specs.html)
Connectivity includes AirPort Extreme (802.11a/b/g/n), Bluetooth 2.1+EDR, Gigabit Ethernet, a Firewire "800" port, two USB 2.0 ports, separate audio in and out ports, an SDXC card slot, and a "Thunderbolt" port that is backwards compatible with Mini DisplayPort and, likewise, supports an external display at 2560x1600 and passes an audio signal. Thunderbolt also supports other peripherals that use the Thunderbolt standard which provides up to 10 Gbps of bandwidth in both directions.

I've never seen a monitor that requires drivers to be installed. Maybe that's why you can't find any. All, at least that I know of will work with any computer. But I may just not be aware of any that won't/don't work with your Macbook Pro.

  • Macbook pro please help it wont work ???

hi everyone i have a 3day old macbook pro 13inch its been woking fine until i downloaded lion x this morning and now when i switch on the mac all i get is a white screen with a flashing folder with a ? in the middle.  can somone please help me to get it working again thanks

If Apple thinks it's a hardware problem, it's not something simple. Take it in for service.
Next time you buy a computer, don't do so until you're ready to open the box and use it as soon as you get it home. If you had had this problem within 14 days of your purchase, you could have exchanged the machine for a new one with Lion preinstalled, no questions asked.

  • Wireless Connection Issue Macbook Pro PLEASE HELP!

    Hi
I got a brand new macbook pro 13' the other week, i installed everything etc and also my bt home hub 2 showed up in airport and it all worked fine no problem no matter where i was in the house.
Yesterday i tried to get on the Internet on the bottom floor and my router is on the 3rd floor and it won't connect to my Internet, it asked for the access key and then i get timed out message and then a message abut its the wrong key, out of range etc. I then go to the room with the router in or on the same floor and it connects and works fine, but soon as i move downstairs it does'nt work as it did before.
Ive reset the router, changed router channels to all of them, changed it to G, N etc and still no joy, also tried WEP and still no joy
Is this an issue with my mac or my router, my mac and router are n power why is suddenly not reaching the bottom floor when it did no problem before.
    Please help
    Sam

Macbook Pro and BT Homehub4.  Looked for help here but did not find it, however, solved the problem by chance as below.
Problem - having recently installed Homehub4 Macbook was persistently refused access to the hub on the grounds that a password was required and the one keyed in was incorrect.  An older iMac upstairs was fine - this was the one set up by the engineer when installing.  Signal strength was at full.
Solution - found by chance that the Macbook worked ok from another room and concluded that the signal strength was just too high in the original position.  By placing a biscuit tin in front of the hub the signal is sufficiently attenuated to work in the original room, and is still good enough to use the upstairs machine too.
So signal is too strong! I call that counterintuitive and I bet no help desk would think of it.
    Regards, John.
