Monitor has developed lines on it (and affiliated apple support stores)

Hi, my 6 month old Macbook Pro (Retina display) has developed vertical lines on the left of the screen and horizontal line on the bottom. We took it to an
affiliated apple support store (no appointments available at Genius Bar's in the UK) and they have said that the damage was caused by ourselves and it won't
be a warranty repair (they suspect we tried to close the lid with a pen stuck in the laptop).
We don't use the Macbook that often and can't think of anything that we did to cause the damage and a bit frustrated that we have to pay £600 to repair
this. We are also concerned that because this is only an affiliated store there is no incentive to fix this under warranty.
Anyone had experience of this problem or dealing with apple affiliated support stores.
The only thing that that we can think of is that maybe our 2.5 year old toddler got his hands on the macbook but failing that we are now in a quandary over
whether to pay for the repair as now not sure if the monitors on the newer generation of macbooks that robust anymore and will just break again (typically the 5 year old macbook is fine!).
Any thoughts appreciated.

same problem and precisely with the OS X lion up to date program.
I called apple but they said there's nothing they can do for now. there are many problems they are trying to resolve and one of them is the up to date program.
the only solution available they said is to wait. but they didn't specify for how long.
One would think that they'd test their solution well when they took the decision to make the OS available only though the appstore or at least offer a back up solution should people be unable to obtain it like it is the case for us.

I bought a brand new Mac 27" desktop that came loaded with Adobe CS6. Everything worked like a charm until the hard drive, 1Tb, developed a bad sector and the Apple Store reinstalled a new one as I had extended warranty with them. They recycled the drive immediately (like a fool I didn't ask for it back to get the data off it.) But luckily I have all my data on CrashPlan. I downloaded it and it worked great except I downloaded it to the desktop and not the original location so it got squirrely. I also have an external 1.5Tb drive that I wanted to make bootable so I installed Mavericks 10.9.3 . I then went ahead and installed it on the newly installed drive too.
I think that because I have a new drive Adobe thinks I have a news computer. I bought the 27" Mac brand new from Ebay and it came loaded with software, including CS6. I have a serial number for CS6 but Adobe said it wasn't valid. (I have owned CS2, CS4 and now CS6 which came preloaded onto the Mac by the seller who told me that the software was registered to the Mac???
I am going to re-download the backup but this time to the original location (I still don't think it will work with Adobe. What can I do about this?

You need to contact Adobe Support either by chat or via phone when you have serial number and activation issues.

I'm not sure what you mean by the 'apple support contact wont open' (?). If you mean the 'contact iTunes Store support' link on the page that you posted from I've just tried it and it seems to wok ok for me, though I haven't gone as far as to actually contact them.
You can contact either iTunes Support or Apple to get the questions reset.
e.g. you can try contacting iTunes Support : http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/ - click on Contact iTunes Store Support on the right-hand side of the page, then Account Management , and then 'Forgotten Apple ID security questions'
or try ringing Apple in your country and ask to talk to the Accounts Security Team : http://support.apple.com/kb/HE57
When they've been reset you can then use the steps on the page that you posted from to add a rescue email address for potential future use, or if it's available in your country you could change to 2-step verification : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5570

Has anyone received a good iPod from Apple online store yet? (38th week batch without screen issue)

Also got a week 38, came two days ago. Everything, including the LCD displaying black, seems perfect.
I had been holding my breath for the past week. The LCD problem worried me so much that I tried to cancel my preorder to the Apple store. Becuase I had it engraved, I couldn't cancel.

I've recently installed new drivers and I still have that problem. Driver errors wouldn't explain why the video is fine when I import it. If my computer struggled to play the video then the exported file would have the vertical lines to, however it is fine.

HT4097 Ipad screen has moving lines on it and is unresponsive

I have the 3rd generation Ipad with iOS 6 on it. I was using it yesterday when i closed my case, and left it for about 10 minuets. When i came back and opened my case, the screen was completley messed up! It has moving lines all over the screen that are a mixture of white, and grey. then it has an even darker moving pixel going across top top of my Ipad, about one inch from the top to be exact. the Ipad will lock and unlock using the top button, but thats all it does. The ipad will also not power off easily. The only thing close to it turing off was when i did a hard shut down and held the home button and the lock button at the same time, but after the screen turns off and i let go of the buttons, the ipad turns back on and goes back to the same lines everywhere.
I purchased the ipad about 3 months ago and this is the first problem i have had. I have NEVER dropped it and the case i use is an Apple smart cover that uses a magnet to stay connected to the Ipad. I have also tried putting it in recovery mode and wiping my Ipad but have had no luck with any change. Please someone help me and figure out what i need to do.

I hope someone can help as I have the same problem with my iPad!

If you are seeing lines on your iPad display, I recommend first resetting it:
Resetting your device
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button together for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.

Time Capsule and AirPort Base Station (802.11n) Firmware 7.3.2 and the Apple support website link isn't working. Does anyone have it?

I have a Win7 Premium and a Time Capsule bought around 2009. I'm using airport utility 5.5.3 and the TC has the 7.6.1 firmware. I can both wirelessly and using the ethernet cabl connect to the network but not to the hard drive (I get the netbios error lthough netbios is enabled). I have pretty much tried ALL the solutions that have worked for many people... too many to mention... the only thing that many people have claimed worked for the (albeit the posts are a bit old) is to revert to the 7.3.2 firmware which I cannot find.
http://www.apple.com/support/?artnum=305301 brings me to the default support page for apple products, so no joy there. this is causing my hair to go prematurely gray.
I am willing to try almost any solution you guys may suggest, but in addition: does anyone know where the 7.3.2 firmware can be found?
I don't need a book corner as I read most books in e-format...

When I do the "firmware update" I have no options except:

On another note (for anyone who has run into this problem and recognizes the symptom), when I submit the password on the apple popup that says "network disc detected, enter password" the pop up pauses for a good minute (not responding) before the #53 error with the netbios comes on. I have also turned off the McAfee firewall and tested it... no joy.

I bought an iPhone 4 from the UAE online store where FaceTime was in the description. to my surprise it came without it. trying to contact the store here is a waste of time. the phone number on their website is giving that it is a wrong number and no other way to speak to any one of them.
i need to give the phone as a gift and without facetime it will not be the same. is there a way to get facetime on my phone???

you can find facetime enabled phones everywhere here, that is not a problem... but when you buy an item from an apple online store where it was said that facetime is in it, you get really disappointed when you find your item has missing software. i wish i bought it from a cheap dealer than all this mess!!!!

That's good to know, but you should ask the Hosts to change your thread title.
FCS1 included FCP 5, not 5.1. The version of Studio that included FCP 5.1 was named Final Cut Studio 5.1. Confusing, but true.
Also, FCS1 was actually named Final Cut Studio, not Final Cut Studio 1.
(No wonder there's not enough room in my brain to remember what I ate for breakfast this morning. Nurse!)
