  • External monitor hooked to laptop keeps going "dark"

The screen on my laptop cracked and so I have hooked it up to an external monitor HP 2009m via VGA.  Laptop is HP Pavillion dv6 with Win7 home premium with all current updates.  After I have been working for about 30 minutes, the monitor keeps going off and I have to hit the power button which usually brings it back, but sometimes I also have to use the source button to cycle back to an active monitor.  The "power lockout" shows up occasionally and sometimes it just refuses to stay on for more than 30 seconds.  I have used the factory reset, have held the power button for 15-30 seconds and unplugged it but it still keeps happening.  I have disabled OSD and sleep and everything else I can think of.  Starting to suspect it is something coming from the laptop, have never seen anything like this and scoured forums for simliar problems/solutions (hence the holding power and factor reset items I have already tried).  I am starting to suspect it might be Netflix, although this seems odd, but it definitely happens more often if I am listening to Netflix in the background.
Anyway, I will reboot and it will be ok for awhile.  Actually, until I start watching netflix again.  Any other ideas?  Driving me insane.  Can I just get the monitor on my laptop fixed replaced?  Thanks in advance for any ideas.

you can check in power option and monitor options too
    >> start menu >> control panel >> Power options
you will see the list on the left column and you will find monitor options

  • Monitor new---no signal after 2 days

tonight I was working just fine then when I rebooted to ensure some prefs were not still taking hold it gave me the "no signal" error then goes to sleep.
    monitor: hp 2009m
it states that I should check the video cable but I don't know where that is. Is it the cable that goes from the back of the comp to the electricity?
the computer powers on but without the monitor it does me no good...i am using my laptop to come here for help.
any ideas where it is located?
all the cables from the monitor to the computer are connected firmly and I disconnected them and reconnected and still no monitor.

In that case, I have no experience with poweron.com. As for buying a used G4, you're probably aware that resellers of secondhand computers typically buy them in large lots at auction. If you ever saw a pallet of them stacked on their sides (sometimes 5 or 6 high), you'd probably never want to buy the one that was on the bottom. With metal-cased PCs, cosmetic damage is probably not as bad as with the plastic side-paneled G3s and G4s. Scratches on the ice-colored panels of a B&W G3 are noticeable, but not as glaring as ones on the crystal-clear side panels of a G4. If you're not particular about appearance, buying an affordable secondhand Mac from an online merchant is probably the way to go. Many used-computer dealers state something like "has the normal amount of scratches from everyday use." Excluding laptops that get toted around all of the time, most individuals don't scratch their computers in normal usage. The cosmetic damage seen on used computer exteriors was typically caused from rough handling, by the companies that reclaimed them from corporate use. If there are any dealers in your area that sell used Macs, you might want to check them out. If that's not an option for you, I'd press the web merchant for an accurate description of the overall condition of the unit that you'd be buying. If he's reluctant or gives a vague appraisal, consider yourself warned.

  • Not Detecting second monitor on HP Pavilion p6-2100

I'm trying to set up dual monitors on my company's shipping computer but Windows won't detect the second monitor. Both monitors are connected using a VGA port, but the second monitor is connected to a DVI-D port via a an adaptor. Nothing has been added to the computer, I'm using the onboard video card for the connection and the latest driver has been installed.
    Here are the specs:
    HP Pavilion p6-2100
    Windows 7 Home
    AMD Radeon HD 6410D
    Main monitor - HP 2311x
    Second monitor - HP 2009m

  • MSI 790GX-G65 delay before post

Sorry for hijacking that other thread
So I press the power button on my computer, then the case/mobo lights and fans (inc. cpu fan) turn on, but I have to wait about 20-30 seconds and then it posts.
I built this system in June '09 but this problem didn't start til maybe October. This problem started happening BEFORE I updated/flashed, however I tried updating to solve the problem to no avail.
I don't remember doing anything different when that problem started.
    My system:
    MSI 790GX-G65 motherboard
AMD Phenom II x3 720 BE 2.8 ghz (not OC)
    G Skill 2x2GB ddr3 1600 ram (@ 1333 because of no OC)
WD Caviar blue 320 GB 7200rpm hard drive
HP 22x DVD burner 1170i w/ light scribe
    case: ABS Aplus el diablo
    monitor: HP 2009m 20" (DVI)
Power Supply: Raidmax Hybrid 2 530 watt Modular (although I doubt that's the problem because power seems to be working - cpu fans turn on and mobo lights come on long before post)
the power for the HD uses a 4-pin to SATA converter (for easier wiring) but I've tried it with regular SATA power cables
I've tried running one ram stick
swapped CD/dvd and Hard drive places on mobo (swapped HD from sata_0 to sata_1 etc)
my case has a lot of wires for fans and lights, so just to make sure i disconnected those and left whatever was necessary connected
I've tried changing the boot order HDD first, and also tried CD first just in case, didn't help
none of these things helped :(
if I left anything out that may help please say so
EDIT: using onboard VGA (set as default display device in BIOS), OS is Windows 7 64bit RC in case those might help
I currently have my case fans connected directly to molex power connectors from PSU, and hard drive and optical are both connected to regular SATA power connectors, regular SATA cables

disconnect all storages and see how its goes,
also do >>Clear CMOS Guide<< with power cord removed.
if problem persist, write down and paste here what's written on the screen when the delay is happening.
    Quote from: CSN9 on 24-February-10, 05:24:10
Yes! Disconnecting the hard drive stops the delay from happening. I had already cleared the CMOS the way the guide says, but I just did it again while the hard drive was disconnected. However, with the hard drive connected there is still the delay.
Now that we know it has to do with the hard drive, does this mean I need a new one? I mean, I've always had the same hard drive and this problem didn't happen from the beginning. So does it mean I should reformat it or something?
What hard drive is that? and where is connected?

HP monitor 2009m goes black on a reandom basis.  Starting in safe mode (as recommended) OK once but not every time.  What is causing the problem and how does the problem get fixed?

    Eric Ross,
    Hi,
I did as You indicated and found on the top left hot corner was set to "put display to sleep" and the lower left hot corner was set to " disable screen saver", Both Right side upper and lower hot corners were not set (they had a -)
So, I adjusted the two "set" hot corners to - to match the other two. No incidents since of any display going black on a intermittent basis or at all, Thank You Very Much for Your Reply and Insight! Will post as "Correct Answer"

  • HP 2009m Monitor

I recently purchased this HP 2009m monitor. When setting it up the information on the setup menu states that my version is 1024x 768 60hz
recommended version is 1600x900 60 hz. I did go to the control panel and display then settings and changed the setting to 1600x900,however the whole screen got smaller, so I changed it back. I know this monitor has the brightview display on it howeverit sure does not look like it did in the store. Also when
I am looking at door mats they seem to be elongated. Can someone help?

Below is a list for the specifications for this monitor.
So the recommended resolution for this monitor is 1600x900 which should look pretty small but clear.
When u lower the resolution to like 1024x768 like you said then the bigger gets bigger and doesn't look as clear but it's more readable.
Depends on how you want it and if you trouble seeing small letters you should set it around 1280x1024 or so in the middle range.
I always put mine on the highest resolution which would be 1600x900 for you because it's smaller and more clear and more details and space to work with.
    http://shopping.msn.com/specs/hp-2009m-lcd-display-tft-20/itemid1181675931/?itemtext=itemname:hp-200...
Now for the Brightview, that's a feature which gives the monitor increased brightness. You can adjust these options in the monitor's menu by pressing the Menu button on the lcd itself and look in the OSD menu for brightness, contrast and more. You can increase and decrease that.
For the door mats, i'm not sure what that is or you're referring to, maybe the monitor stand. I would look into the manual for adjustment or check hp.com and search for your lcd's model or product number such as 2009m and it gives you online .pdf manual file to view.

  • HP Pavilion All in One Not Detecting External Monitor

Hello I have an HP Pavilion All in one 23-g010 running windows 8
I purchased a VGA to USB adapter so that I could connect my external HP 2009m monitor and it worked just fine. I had to reset my computer and I used System Image Recovery everything else works fine except now when I plug in the adapter and click on Share it says " Nothing Can be Shared From this Desktop" When I look under Screen resolution it just says Generic Non-PnP Monitor and wont allow me to select anything else.  I tried downloading drivers but it just says my computer doesnt meet not meet the minimum system requirements to install the driver. I am at a loss as to what to do, I work at home and dual monitors is a must.
    Thank you for any help

Did you create the "Windows System Image" before you purchased the USB-to-video adapter??? After preforming the System Image Recovery, did you install the drivers for the USB-to-video adapter??? The drivers for the adapter should have been included with the adapter or are available on a 3rd party website.

  • PowerMac G4 (AGP) and HD LCD Monitor

I gave my daughter a few years ago my old G4 PowerMac (AGP Graphics) which has a VGA port and is connected to a huge Apple 17" CRT Studio Display. I'd like to give her a modern LCD display. The HP 2009M HD LCD Monitor states that it comes with a standard analog VGA input. Is there any reason this monitor would not work with the G4 PowerMac?

I looked at the HP site and it didn't mention anything about being able to use this display w/ Mac computers. It Looks like this LCD panel is Windows XP/Vista only.
Not sure why it wouldn't be Mac-compatible, though.
You could just do a search for Mac-compatible LCD panels or monitors and see what comes up.
There are plenty of non-Apple LCD panels that work fine with Macs.
I had my girlfriend purchase an LCD flat panel monitor that was, relatively, cheap. It was labeled only worked with Windows. We bought it and it's connected up to a Radeon 7000 video card via DVI in a old beige G3 box upgraded to G4 status and it works fine.
With using the VGA connections, I can't see why the HP wouldn't work.
Personally, I have found that most LCD displays are not platform-specific, anyway.
    The HP should work fine.

  • Hp 2009m, black screen, power button stays on

    I have a HP 2009M. Windows Vista 64 bit. 4 yrs old.
I can turn my computer on fine, check email, watch videos, etc. but then the monitor screen will go black. The blue power button stays on. If I turn off, and back on. It will work for like 5-10 min or so, then it will be a black screen.  If I am watching a video when it goes to a black screen, I can still hear it playing.  I do hear a very faint buzzing sound coming from the monitor which I never heard before this happened.  Is it my desktop or do I need a new monitor?
    This question was solved.

    Hi NSCY,
The quickest way to isolate the problem to the monitor would be, if possible, either: try a different monitor with your PC or try the monitor on a different PC.
Check your graphics and power connections on both the PC and the monitor also.
Your graphics card could also be causing this issue.

  • Using Mac Mini with HP 2009M 20" LCD

Hi. I'm planning to buy the new Mac Mini and an LCD. Have bumped into the HP 2009M, which has both VGA and DVI inputs. Because I'm budgeting carefully, I'm trying to find an LCD with DVI connectivity, and would want to avoid buying myself a separate video adaptor.
Could someone confirm that the two machines are compatible? It says that the new Mac Mini includes a Mini-DVI to DVI adaptor. I'm quite confused because I've read about two kinds of DVI's. DVI-D and DVI-I. I assume that the HP is a DVI-D, in which this is more common.

Here's a good explanation of the various flavours of DVI:
    http://www.datapro.net/techinfo/dvi_info.html
Yes, that monitor will work with the new Mini you buy. The adapter is included with the Mini. (You no doubt already know you need a keyboard and mouse, as well as a monitor.)
