Monitor IEEE1588 network two 6682 boards

Hello,
I have a distributed application synchronized by means of IEEE 1588 over a switched network. In order to monitor the health of the network, I use two PXI-6682 boards, one acting as a master clock and the second as slave connected through an Ethernet switch and monitor the time jitter between a 1PPS signal generated on both boards. This would ideally be a feature of my master clock node itself for which I would ideally fit the two 6682 boards in the same chassis, configure one as master clock, the other as slave clock and connect both to my Ethernet switch.
The PXI controller gets confused if I insert the two boards on the same chassis. I have not found any information on how to manage this configuration or whether this is altogether possible.
B.

Hello,
Thanks for your input. I appreciate your help. I needed to do something a bit different but it eventually solved the issue:
On the XP Device Manager ,
- Uninstall the two PXI-6682 devices under Data Acquisition Devices
- Uninstall the two AMD devices under Network adapter
- Scan for new Hardware
- Disable the two PXI-6682 devices under Data Acquisition Devices
On MAX,
- Delete the broken PXI-6682 under NI-DAQmx Devices
On the XP Device Manager,
- Enable the two PXI-6682 devices under Data Acquisition Devices
On the good side, the issue is solved and the configuration survives the controller reboot. On the other side, I am very worried about having to apply such tricks to get this system working.
Cheers,
B.

Please describe what you are trying to do and what the goal is, if you simply want to share files then turn on File Sharing on both computer. Apple explains this in their File sharing article.

  • How do I synchronize data collection on two DT3001 boards?

I am very new to Labview, and I am trying to find an easy way to synchronize my data collection on two DT3001 boards.  I have tried modifying the AI Continuous Scan example.  This works because I am using all 16 channels on each of my boards.  Unfortunately, I cannot find a way to make both boards collect data beginning at the same time.  Is there an easy way to synchronize both boards to collect data at the same time?  Thank you for your help!

    Hello Kacie,
I'm not sure how your DT 3001 device and it's drivers LabVIEW functions work, but for synchronizing acquisition on two National Instruments DAQ cards, you need to share a start trigger and sample clock between the two cards by connecting the Real-Time System Integration (RTSI) buses of the cards using a RTSI cable.  This provides dedicated lines for sharing the same sample clock and start trigger, and provides highly accurate hardware-timed synchronization.  Any synchronized starting you program in software in LabVIEW will be software timed.  You can use the sequence structure within LabVIEW to group together different portions of code so that all the configuration is performed for both cards first, and then they are started at the same time.  I know this probably isn't too much help, but I would need to know more about how your DT 3001 device and the AI Continuous Scan example works.  You might be able to find better help on this at Data Translation's website.

  • Networking two NI lookout servers with different windows OS

Can I networking two NI lookout servers with 50
I/O, one with windows98 SE and one with Withows XP pro.?

What's your lookout version on two computers? You need first to make two lookouts run, and then try to networking them. For example, if you run lookout 6.2 on windows 98, I'm not sure if it will work.

  • I have been trying for 24 hours to network two W 7 and a Vista Pre.

I have been trying for 24 hours to network two W 7 and a Vista Pre. The one W7 and the Vista can open anything the last W7 will NOT OPEN ANYTHING.
I get error code: 0x080070035 over and over and over.

Not sure if this will help or not.  I was trying to network W7 and XP a few weeks ago. I had been trying to name the network with my own name on both computers.  Nothing worked until I changed the network name to the default xp network name for both computers.  Then it all worked fine.

  • Synchronize two PCI Board for Analoge Output

    Hi All
Has anyone a good example for synchronizing two MIO Boards over RTSI cable.
I found a lot examples to analoge input but nothing about analoge output.
    Thanks

    Hi Reto.
I posted to this once, but looks like it didn't make it. I checked the examples, and Ir eally didn't see anything that did what you wanted over the RTSI bus, so I made one. Check it out.

  • Monitor difent networks but same IP address

Hi, I have lot of severs that I monitor from one PC with many NICs. Now I have one new problem, I have one client network 192.168.1.0/24 and now I must add a newone with the same network 192.168.1.0/24.
Now, servers have the same IP like 192.168.1.45, the question is, how can I monitor the same IP but different server?.
If I can ping based in mac address that would be great, but I know that its impossible.
So, is there a solution to do it?
I was thinking in create a new monitor network (add a secondary IP), but I think that is not correct.

    hi
I feel you are trying to monitor different networks from your server wherein i feel you can achieve by creating manual/static permanent(persistent) routes in your pc/server so that you will have different network routed accordingly as per your requirement.
By default the connected networks like 192.168.1.0/24 will be reachable via the interface which you have in that particular subnet other than that if you want to monitor or to have reachability then you need to have the routes as above mentioned to get them out.
Secondary ip is the other option which you can try out but i would suggest to take uttermost care while defining the metric on the interface and for the default gateways if any.

  • Trying to network two home computers with RT31P2

Hey everyone.  I'm having a maddening time trying to network two home computers together.  As it stands there are three total computers in the household.  Desktop A, Desktop B, and a Laptop.  As it stands, the Laptop and Desktop A can interact with each other using the "Workgroups" function.  However, I can't get Desktop B to interact with either of the others.  It just so happens that Desktop B is running Vista, while the other two use XP.
    So to recap:
    Desktop A uses XP
    Desktop B uses Vista
    Laptop uses XP
Using a RT31P2 Broadband Router (which the two desktops are connected to)
And a WAP54G Wireless-G access point (for the laptop)
How can I get Desktop B to interact with the other two?  My main goal is for Desktop A and the Laptop to be able to connect to Desktop B to share files and use it's printer.

The very first thing you need to be able to ping the ip address of individual pc from another one & also make sure that you disable the firewalls on all the pc's & you need to enable file & printer sharing on your pc & you should be able to interact each pc from another one.

  • Need a perl script which monitors a network folder and sends email when new files/folders arrived...

I need a perl script (or something else better) which monitors a network folder and sends email when new files/folders arrived. I tried it in Automator but failed.
    Thanks!

Yes. I tried it. But whenever I restart m Mac, the watch folder doesn't work until I reconnect to network or run the Automator... I need a simple system that automatically connects to the network and monitor the folder, even I restart the Mac.
    Thanks!

  • Monitoring a network remotely

I have set up a wifi network using comcast as ISP and 4 airport extremes in an condo association in Florida.  I want to be able to monitor that network from Indiana.  How can I accomplish this task in laymen's terms?

Assuming you set up Remote management (System Preferences - Sharing) on at least one of the remote machines and the same on your machine it's pretty easy. Just open a Finder Window - Click Share Screen on the remote machine, login and off you go.

  • Networking two mac pros together?

i just bought a 2012 and did a fresh install of yosemite and have a 2006 that is running lion.
i have migrated my data over to the 2012 and plan to wipe the 2006 of the data so i don't get confused. i expect to have a number of backups on the shelf and don't plan to get these into circulation again until i am confident the 2012 is running properly.
is it possible to network these two machines together in some way while i am working in yosemite so that i can periodically grab data from the HOME FOLDER in Lion?
can i run an ethernet into my TIME CAPSULE from both machines and see the 2006 from the 2012? i mean, presumably i would have to keep the 2006 running even if i can't see it on the monitor? or do i have to somehow get set up with a keyboard and monitor on the 2006 and boot into disk mode to do this??
for some reason i am thinking this would be a nice way to get myself running on yosemite and i am imagining i don't need to boot into LION (say by buying a KVM switch) at least for the time being.
    will this work?

If you can connect each of them to the Internet without re-cabling, you have all the infrastructure needed for File Sharing and Screen Sharing.
Then all you have to do is use System Preferences > Sharing to turn on what you want. I suggest you enable File Sharing in both directions, because that is sometimes handy later when debugging. File Sharing allows you to mount the shared items from the remote Mac on your local Mac as if they were a drive on your local Mac.
The dialog box presented when initiating a File sharing connection is requesting credentials (username and password) to access files on the REMOTE Mac, even though that dialog box appears on the local Mac. Also, the number of bullets in the password field is arbitrary -- neither Mac knows the length of the password.

  • Debugging and monitoring MPLS networks

    Hi ,
I've had the following problem with a customer of ours and I'd like to know if there's any tools I can use in the future to better diagnose the problem if it may arise again.
The customer is a bank with hundreds of brnach sites. All of them are connected to the corporate via a MPLS network managed by a local TELCO company .
In the last ten days they have experienced long delays during logons of users in the branch sites . This delay has been initially thought due to new operating systems deployed on the clients ( XP ) . In fact there's a rollout of XP computers at all the branch sites .
Trying to troubleshoot the problem we have started looking at all OS related known problems but found nothing important.
Next I tried looking at the network connections with the few tools I have ( basically ping , traceroute and protocol analyzer ) but all seemed ok .
Having no access to the telco routers I monitored the corporate's switch ports to which the two telco router are attched .
Finally I found some packet discarded and could call the telco and having the routers checked.
They found a problem , they didn't told us what it was , and suddendly most of the problems were gone.
This was really tricky because a part from the slow logon we had no other mulfunctions . I found the problem thanks to a Microsoft tool to check group policy problem which point me to possible networks problem.
The question , after this long post , is ; is there any tool, agent , software I can install or use to check MPLS network efficiency having no access to the TELCO routers ?
    Thanks in advance

havent not told us what the actual problem was it is kinda difficult to suggest tools. However IF this was an MTU issue then you should have used ping with the DF bit set to see how big a packet you could get over the mpls network. Let us know what the issue was and hopefully we can be a bit more detailed in our responses.

  • Two websites on different networks - two NICs

    Hello,
I have got an xserve, running 10.4.3 with two NIcs on different networks (192.168.... and one on a 10.0.0...) , connected to two different ISPs. I would like to run two websites, one per ISP/network card.
I've read through Apple's doumentation - I think the problem is that OSX will only connect to the internet via one network card. Any I dea what I can try?
I have seen a post on the discussion board regarding the ipfw.conf and firewall
    Thanks,
    Nico

It has to do mainly with a routing table. In that routing table you tell the router if the destinition IP is X from Subnet Y send it through Gateway Z like this:
Destination | Subnet mask | Gateway
    192.168.40.0 | 255.255.255.0 | local
    10.65.1.0 | 255.255.255.0 | local
    192.168.32.0 | 255.255.255.0 | 192.168.40.13
    192.168.35.0 | 255.255.255.0 | 192.168.40.14
    192.168.0.0 | 255.255.0.0 | 192.168.40.13
    10.0.0.0 | 255.0.0.0 | 10.65.1.25
    0.0.0.0 | 0.0.0.0 | 10.65.1.1 (Default)
Just set-up where things can come from and where they should go. Setup a good defauly and you should be set.
    Hope that helps a little.
Sorry if the table is a little hard to read.

  • Activity Monitor and Network Usage??

I'd like to get an idea of my network usage per month prior to signing up for a service plan, and I notice that the Network tab of Activity Monitor will track Data received. When or how does the number shown there get reset to zero? What would be the best way to track the network usage over a period of a week or so?

I believe the number is from your last login, but it shouldn't be too hard to test whether that is the starting point or the last restart.
Neither will help you track network usage over a specific period. For that, you will have to hunt down a utility on macupdate.com or versiontracker.com. I'm pretty sure I've seen some go by. You might search using terms like "ISP", "bandwidth", "network", and "meter".

  • How do I get InDesign to open on the second monitor of a two-monitor system?

My computer is connected to two identical monitors. I use them in extended mode. Monitor 1 includes my WIndows desktop; Monitor 2 does not
I want to open my InDesign files on "Monitor 2" which does NOT have impediments like a taskbar that wants to pop up.
By default, InDesign CS6 opens on Monitor 1, the one with the desktop. How do I change that setting?

Exactly what Bob Levine said. Can confirm, running a two monitor display here.
