Monitor/Keyboard and Mouse Help?

I got a mac and when I try to connect to my monitor (http://amzn.com/B00B17C5KO) (Connected using DPI-HDMI) It works and it connects but when I connect my mouse and keyboard (http://amzn.com/B00DKXXAAQ) it doesn't recognize them or something and the only way I can control what displays on the monitor is if I use the laptop. Please help!

Hello Mac0-No0b,
After reviewing your post, it sounds like the monitor works but the mouse and keyboard are not recognized. I would recommend that you read this article, it may be able to help the issue.

Do you think the monitor, keyboard and mouse will work on it? Would I have to get a hub so I could use the stuff I already have? Is that viewsonic too old to work on it?
What else would I need? Please advise...

    Yes for keyboard and mouse.
The monitor will work if it has an HDMI, VGA ir DVI input. If it only has a VGA input you will need this adopter

  • Monitor, Keyboard and Mouse sometimes stop Working

I'm having an issue with my computer, it is a new build on a MSI 890FXA-GD65 motherboard. Sometimes randomly while i play a game, my monitor goes to sleep and wont wake up (monitor is connected via VGA port to my Radeon HD 5670 GPU), my keyboard and mouse turn off(both usb, mouse is Logitech, the red light on the bottom turns off), the computer still runs all the lights are on. Also, the front panel reset and power buttons wont work, the only way to shut it off is by the power switch on my power supply. Any ideas as to what might be the problem?

  • No Signal to Monitor, Keyboard, or Mouse For HP Desktop 110-023w running 64-bit Windows 8.1

My computer (Product No. H5P41AA) crashed suddenly the other day.  I tried to get as much information as I could when it went down, but everything happened so fast that all I could write were "Imminent Failure,"  "File:  hiberfil.sys," and "Error Code:  0xc0000411."
I don't recall making any changes to the system within at least a week of its demise,  but I can tell you this machine has had an odd sleep/hibernation pattern since the day I brought it home.  If I didn't use it for about 10 minutes, it would turn itself off.  After another 10 minutes or so, it would turn itself back on, and this behavior would continue as long as I didn't shut down the system.  Since I had a habit of accessing the computer multiple times during the day, this didn't particularly bother me, so I never investigated it further.
Also, there was a strange situation in the defragmentation/optimization area, where Drives C and D were listed along with another drive that was something like 23% fragmented, but, try as I might, there was no way I could do anything with that third drive.  Googling the issue provided me with a consensus opinion that the best thing to do was to leave it alone, which is what I did.
Measures I've taken to solve my problem have included, verifying that the monitor, cable, mouse and keyboard all work by trying them on my Windows Vista machine, which I had to resurrect in order to file this report and look for solutions to my dilemma.  I've also tried a DVI cable, reseated the RAM, and attempted a hard reset, all to no avail, and the monitor from my Vista machine also does not work when connected to the 8.1 computer.
Without a monitor, mouse, and keyboard, I'm at a complete loss in trying to figure out what to do next.  How can I determine if the problem is in the motherboard, the hard drive, the BIOS, or something else?  And, since I will not have had this machine for a full year until October 18, how can I ascertain if all of this is because of something I may have inadvertently done or if it's something covered by my warranty?
Thanking you in advance for your willingness to help, I hope to soon be forever in your debt via your recommendations for a solution to this madness.

  • HT1752 I have an old iMac (the rounded type with monitor).  I need a new keyboard and mouse.  Will any work?  thanks for any help!

I have an old iMac for 2002....it's the rounded type that has an attached monitor.  The software is way outdated (OS X 10) and I only really use now to access 3,000 plus songs and old video of the family.  Both the keyboard and mouse no longer work.  Am I able to use any keyboard/mouse and plug in using USB?  Thanks for any help!

Most any USB mouse or keyboard should work. Borrow one if you can and just plug it in.
If the USB circuits are at fault then you can access via Firewire Target Mode with another Mac in order to get at the files.

Another alternative would be to remove the hard drive and use a USB adapter to access it as an external  drive.

I have had the same problem. It was cured by turning computer off and/or restarting it. I am not sure  if once was enough. I think shutting down must cut out whatever it is that blocks bluetooth. Good luck

  • Want to run my PC on my G5 monitor, using one keyboard and mouse?

I have a IMAC G5 (pre-intel) and would like to hook my PC tower to the G5's monitor. It would also be great to use only one keyboard and mouse to operate both systems.
In this forum, I found a reference to the "Gefen SL Switcher". This looks like the solution, except my G5 has a wireless mouse and keyboard. The Gefen manual on line does not have much content.
Does anyone know of a solution for running my PC tower into my G5 with wireless mouse and keyboard?

The cordless keyboard and mouse are going to be problematic.
What kind of work do you plan to do on the PC?
if it isn't anything graphics intensive, you could set up a vncserver on the PC, and use "chicken of vnc" viewer.

    Dear anyone!
My the main keyboard and mouse are not working!!! Right now I connected an external keyboard and external mouse to the usb port, and those are working.
What should I do to make the main keyboard and mouse work?
Note that this started to happen when I was using Parallel (Windows on mac)
    Any input is GREATLY appreciated!!!
    Thanks!

Hopefully someone will be able to recognize what is going on here and be able to help you. If not, are you in Madison, Wisconsin? If so, I believe you have an Apple Store. You can always make an appointment with the genius bar and get help that way. The genius bar is free. Your keyboard problem sounds like some sort of a software glitch to me, and it shouldn't be too hard for someone knowledgeable to fix.
There is one thing you can do which might or might not help, but it is a good thing to do on a regular basis. Go to your Applications folder and find your Utilities folder and then find Disk Utility and drag it down to the dock. Open it and click on your hard drive by brand name in the left column and then on the First Aid tab. Click on "Repair Disk Permissions" and repeat until all disk permissions have been repaired. It might take several times. You can safely ignore the SUID warnings--they are a known issue which will probably be fixed later on. Repairing permissions is something you should always do before and after installing software--it's just good practice and will prevent many problems that can arise if you don't do this on a regular basis.
    Good luck!

  • HELP:  Keyboard and Mouse stop working

I plugged a 4GB flashdrive into keyboard; received low power notification; plugged it into computer instead; it loaded on desktop, HOWEVER, keyboard and mouse no longer work - shut down computer for 5 minutes, still not working, unplugged and replugged in connections; removed flashdrive, shut computer off for 30 minutes; still does not work. The only positive thing, I have a laptop so I can ask this question. All the files I need are on the other computer, however. HELP

Hello! If the usb ports tripped out you'll have to reset the pmu. With all the external cables (usb/firewwire/monitor/a/c etc) unhooked press the pmu button once then reconnect and restart. Below are a couple of example of the pmu location. Tom

  • Help! My Keyboard and mouse will not work all of a sudden on my G4

I am having a problem with both my keyboard and mouse. I have a graphite G4 and recently had to run disk warrior on i. I have had endless problems with this computer and even have a 2nd hardrive on it since it only came with a 10Gig. Needless to say it is all I have right now. I am running os x 10.2.2 on it and a few days after I recessitated it with disk warrior my keyboard and mouse suddenly went dead while I was on the internet. I tried pluging the two into different usb ports both on the tower and also into the flat panel mac display that it came with and nothing. I plugged in my wacom tablet and that works. i then tested the mouse and keyboard on my husband's dell laptop and they work. I cannot reset the PRAM b/c the keyboard won't work! What do I do??????

Besides removing the battery, you can do a PMU reset which will zap PRAM. See Mac PRAM, NVRAM, CUDA/PMU & Battery Tutorial
You only describe your Mac as a G4 graphite, which I believe is a G4 AGP. Here’s a diagram showing the location of the PMU reset button.

  • I have a 2011 iMac 27" i7 and the bluetooth connected trackpad, keyboard, and mouse all go haywire after awhile. This just began today and cannot make the issue go away. Nothing was downloaded, no software updates, etc. please help!

Oops, sorry, using my iPad for this. My iMac's Bluetooth-connected devices are going haywire after awhile of use. All three things--the trackpad, keyboard, and mouse--act up, especially the trackpad, by being overly sensitive and often just clicking and moving on its own. I've restarted the computer, I've swabbed batteries out of the devices, and nothing has worked so far in solving this issue. I downloaded Lion when it came out and had the update last week (I think), but today is the first day to experience this issue and nothing was downloaded today. I've been sending out a flurry of emails, but nothing else to hint at why this problem happened. Any ideas??

Humm, thank you. I have my iPhone and iPad on the wireless network, and yeah--using the rechargable batteries. I'll try normal batteries and re-join the phone and get back to you. May take a day or so because the semester starts today. Thank you again.
