Monitor-No signal

New 23bw IPS monitor, I connect/disconnect my laptop to daily. Has worked great for two weeks, now get "no signal" and goes into sleep mode. Worked fine when I tried it with another computer?

Hello nsrpi,
I see that you are having a problem with an external monitor. I would like to help with this issue but I need some more information.
Does the monitor works correctly on another computer?
What kind of computer is it not working correctly on?

  • How to see a stream of a signal in the Data View while monitoring a signal.

    Hi!
I'm migrating from an older data acquisition software for SignalExpress. With the DAQ old had a way to monitor the signal so that the software screen I saw on the timeline and as I increased or diminished the scale of the X axis (time), I saw more or less signal transitions in screen, respectively. For example, if the time scale (x axis) was set to 5 seconds and the signal that I was monitoring commute every 1 second, I would see on the screen of the software 5 sequential pulses.
I am not able to configure my data acquisition that way. What I have noticed is that the scale of the X axis is limited to the value of the "Samples to read." With that, I see the sign on the software screen is instantaneous and not a sequence of pulses.
I intend to monitor the signals are random signals originating from idependentes and switching relays.
In summary, I believe that the solution to what I want to do is increase the scale of the axis X. How to do this?
I use SignalExpress 2011, USB-6363 DAQ step and Digital Line Input.
    Thank you.

    OKors,
First, sorry for the delay in responding to you. And second, thanks for your reply.
I will try your suggestion: continuously scrolling "strip chart".
To try to clarify, what I want is to merge than I can with Digital Graph - signs lined up vertically with the display type Chart, where it can act on the parameters of History Lengh, as you suggested, to achieve "curb" the transition graph .
If using the first solution, Digital Graph, the screen transitions are very fast. On the other hand, if using the graph chart type for digital signals, they overlaps, since all have the same value - 0 or 1.
The idea is that these two characteristics in a single graph (Data View). I believe something to be simple, but I'm having trouble mounting this setting.
That's it. Any news ... I'll post here.

  • Monitoring airport Signal

I am using airport client monitor, my transmit rate is 54-Mbps, my signal strength is -60Db and the noise level is -95Db in this conditions my network works fine and I am near my airport express BS. If the strength signal drops to -80Db, I start having problems the transmit rate starts oscillating, going up and down(20 to 25-Mbps), and may stabilize at a lower transmit rate or after a while go back to 54-Mbps in this situation I am at six meters from the base station with a brick wall in between. Looking at the airport client monitor graphic there is a distance between the Noise and Strength curves about 10 to 12 Db.
Why I am having problems if I am only 6 meters from the AEBS? There is a graphic with a relation of distance from the AEBS and signal strength?
what is the relation of transmit speed, signal strength and Noise?
    thank's
    Luigi

I tried changing channels from automatic to 1, 2, 10 - all three of them showed the drop down to 0 every 25 seconds. That is not normal right? I got a slightly better signal at channel 2 but not by much. I also changed from b and g to g only. And increased the multicast to 5.5 and enabled Interference Robustness. And I got iStumbler and learned that my neighbor's open network is using channel 6. There is another closed network using channel 11. I currently have it set at chanel 2. What should I expect the numbers to be and is the transmission rate supposed to be a straight line up at the top and not dip down to zero on a regular basis? Also, I have an Airport Express running version 6.1. When I open Airport Admin Utility it asks me if I want to upload firmware 6.2 but I said cancel based on the posts I've seen in the discussions. Also, I have cox cable high speed internet and the tech guy that just came out told me that my BestData modem is notorious for dropping out and that I should buy a Motorolla 5120 modem. I just got one but haven't tried it yet to see if it made a difference. Before I did I wanted to learn how to monitor the signal so that I could see very specifically if it was improved or not. Also, after getting iStumbler I walked around the house checking the signal and right near the airport express I get a 60 and in the next room a 44 and then other parts of the house around 30 to 20 to 7 depending on where I go. Noise says 0. What should I try next? Also, just got a new phone 5.8 ghz instead of the old 2.4 and tried using the phone and it doesn't seem to have an effect one way or the other.
Also, are their any good sources for reading up on using the Airport admin and monitoring tools?

  • External monitor loses signal to macbook pro through DVI cable and Mini DisplayPort Adapter

    Hello,
So I had my external monitor connected to my MBP with a DVI cable and a Mini DisplayPort Adapter, for a while already. But sometimes, the monitor would lose signal from the laptop and gives me a white noise screen. Now, the monitor can't receive signal at all, even after I got a new Mini Displayport Adapter. When the monitor and the MBP is connected by the cable and the adapter, the monitor would say "no signal" and the MBP screen would flicker (I think it's trying to connect to the monitor, but can't). The new Mini Display Port Adapter also makes the screen flicker, so I'm not sure if it's the problem is at the adapter or the DVI cable. I'm pretty sure it's not the monitor.
What do you think? Have you ever have a screen flickering problem when your MBP is connected to an external monitor?

I have had the same problem.  By following your suggestions I got to arrangements.  I could not send them off to the side.  When I hit the mirro disply key everyting worked.  I got it solved by clicking in arrangements and setting displays to mirror display.
I am still have a problem of no sound coming through my tv.

  • External Monitor no signal

    Hi all,
I have a brand new 24 inch iMac and I love it! However, I am having a terrible time trying to set up an external monitor. I have a LaCie 19 inch monitor, which is Mac compatible. I have the mini-DVI adapter, which I have connected to the monitor's DVI-D cable. The iMac recognizes the external monitor, but the monitor keeps saying 'No Signal'. I have tried different resolutions on the LaCie, and tried mirroring the desktop, but no luck getting anything on the external monitor.
As far as I can tell, the iMac thinks everything is working - the LaCie shows up in System Preferences > Displays, and I can change the resolution of the LaCie using the Display Preferences from the iMac, but there's no image on the LaCie! The LaCie is plugged in, it has power, but no signal. Am I missing something obvious about setting up an external monitor on the iMac? Does anyone have any suggestions for getting a signal on the external monitor? Thanks.

    Hi Donna Jones1,
Thanks for the welcome, and for your suggestions. Those are certainly the obvious steps, and they OUGHT to work. But unfortunately, there's still no signal on the external monitor. I can detect the second display, and gather the info on it, set the rez, turn off Mirror, etc., but there's no picture. The monitor definitely works, as I've just had it connected to a PC laptop. It is plugged in. I have the mini-DVI adapter plugged into the iMac, and the monitor's cable plugged into the mini-DVI adapter. Heck, I even tried plugging the monitor cable into both the DVI-I and DVI-D inputs on the back of the monitor. No luck. I would normally suspect a faulty cable or connection, except that the iMac recognizes the external monitor and it shows up in 'About this Mac'. I'm completely baffled!

  • External monitor no signal until log-on screen

    Hi
After my 2012 Macbook Pro's LCD became damaged, I had to connect an external monitor via HDMI.
The problem is there is no display signal before the Mac/Win7 login screen. My guess is the MBP sends signal to the native LCD and only after Mac/Win7 boots up it loads up drivers and recognizes the external HDMI monitor.
This essentially prevents me from re-installing Win7 because I can't see anything during the reboot and install process.
I connected to many monitors and HDMI TVs in the store and results are the same. I'm on 10.8.5
    Thanks

    Yes.
Apple restricts access to all system settings for Base system boot.
    Not really.
They also restrict installing Windows from the Built In DVD drive on Mac computer that come with built in DVD drive. But yet allow the system to boot to an OS X installer on a USB thumb drive or externally connected DVD drive even when the system has a built in DVD drive.
    Apple's way or no way.
    ddoeu wrote:
Then, is this an issue people put up with?
I searched online and PC users have similar issue. But they can go into BIOS and set the display output to 'external'.
I hoped Macs were more sophisticated

Fine by me. Now I alrdy have a genuine window and the problem still occur.
I already test both the hdmi and the dvi but the result still the same. still no signal or no video input. And I also test the desktop on other monitor and the result problem pointed at the graphic card.
And as stated in my previous topic, when I remove the graphic card can connect the monitor through the hdmi on the mother board it work fine.

as long as you take all the cables out one by one carfully without more then a few pounds of force with a slight wiggle as they come up its not that hard to do then take the whole PSU and the gpu to your friends house to see if it works
hell if you dont want to plumb the whole unit into his rig on the main 20/24 pin connector find the green cables pin and any neer by black ground cable and jump your psu with a paperclip in the wholes and just connected to your graphics card in his case and psu outside his case to only power your card and flip the power switch to turn it on quite easy (10 mins to do max)!

  • Wierd problem, monitor no signal.

ok, this is a pretty wierd story...
I was sitting at the computer, worked great with win x64, i turned it off and then i went on a vacation for 2 weeks.
Later when i come home i wanted to use the computer but when i put on the power (power off during vacation) and the cpu fan starts (it always do for some reason) and i press the power on/off button everything dies and i couldn't boot the computer at all anymore. i tried to reset cmos and change dimm slot for my 512 mb memory and it worked so far. now i can boot up, and shut it down when holding the power on/off for a couple of secs but my graphic card wont work. monitor keep says no signal even though i tested 2 different graphic cards and 2 different 512 mb memory compenents. anyone have any experience of this problem or similar problem i would be greatly appreciated if you replied in this thread.

    sorry SAB, i cant!
no monitor and btw i just rebuilded my computer with my older asus a7n8 card with all the same components (Not cpu as a7n8 is a socket A) and it works excellent. Either it is the cpu or the motherboard's fault and i guess the cpu cant make the monitor go black?
perhaps something wrong with the agp slot or something. ill try to return it, if i cant i dont know what i'll do...
    thx for reply anyway

  • Acer X241W monitor "No Signal"

I have an Acer X241W LCD monitor on a Vista 32 OS. I have had this monitor for 1 year and I have a persistant problem. I continually get an unmovable "NO SIGNAL" message on my monitor even tho I can still  work behind the message.  A few seconds later the screen goes black and then comes back on without the message, but a couple of minutes later the message pops up again and continues as stated above. Until I shut down my pc and unplug the monitor from power. Then it could go a week to a month before this occurs again. This is a common problem with this monitor (just google Acer X241W no signal). This is not pc specific, because I have had this monitor on 2 different pcs one an XP OS and currently Vista 32 (brand new pc). I called Best Buy where I purchased the monitor (as well as the 4 year warranty) and asked if they had heard of the problem. They replied that they have, and that it was an Acer defect and was unfixable. So I asked if I could bring it in and exchange for a similar monitor and pay the difference. I was told I would have to bring my monitor in and they would send it off to be serviced. Why service it if it is unfixable? What have you (Geek Squad City) done to fix this monitor? I know that you have had this problem before, so surely I can get a real answer. I cannot see why I should have to ship off my monitor and wait without my pc for up to 1 month, for you to service a monitor that you know you can not fix.

I have the same problem. Bought mine in April of "07". I'm running a home-built PC with an Intel "Work Station" mother board, an ATI radion X1300 video card and using Windows XP, SP-3.
It worked fine for over a year, then the "no signal" problem started. I just lived with it for several months until the monitor finally "died".
Took it into Best Buy for repairs. They had it for 29-days and replaced a "fried" power supply and also replaced the main board. Got it back and everything worked fine for about 4-weeks, then problem returned. Back to the shop! Another 2-weeks in the shop and another new controller board. Got it back and it worked OK for about 7-days, then problem returned.
I was very unhappy at this point, so I took it back and asked them to replace it or give me a credit toward a new monitor. No luck, but they took it back to the service dept again. They said it worked fine, no problem found, could not reproduce the problem and just returned it to me.
Interesting note: Whenever the monitor was in the shop, I used a Gateway 17" LCD monitor, with the same HDMI cable and video card and it never had this problem, so it suggests that the problem is in the Acer monitor, not my computer!
Brought it home and had the same problem in about 4-hours! I think I have tried everything. I updated my video card driver. Disabled "sleep" mode for the monitor. Uninstalled a monitor color calibration software package.
I have observed one interesting fact about this problem. The problem happens after the computer restarts (mine is always on, but after a Windows auto-update it reboots). If I cycle the monitor off for about a minute and then turn it back on, it will run fine, sometimes for days or weeks, until the computer is restarted.
So I did some web searching and found a lot of other people reporting this same problem. One interesting discovery was an Acer Field Service Bulletin from 9/17/07, updated 4/3/08, reporting on this problem and suggesting a "main-board firmware update" (which can only be performed in an approved repair center) that "may" fix the problem. The correct update depends on the display serial number. This was reported on "fixya.com"'s web site on 6/7/08.
It looks like Best Buy's repair center must not know about this, or are just not being very helpful. I'm very unhappy with their so-called "customer service" at this point.
What I would like to know is if ANYONE had actually gotten the problem fixed?

  • Samsung monitor analog signal status window

Samsung S20A350B 20" LED Widescreen Monitor: Visually, this is an exceptional monitor; lots of neat menu features including the screen adjustment and customization. The only downside is the cable's analog input signal box/window keeps appearing in the top left of the screen after my PC is activated from "stand-by" mode.  It is annoying. The Samuung help guy said "you can shorten the time it appears but cannot hide it." There is no point to this pesky popup continuing to remind you it's there. The  monitor user should be able to hide it and check the cable status when necessary. The Manual does not address this feature. Samsung should include this feature in it's Manual and on their website instead of failing to address it at all. Just wanted to make you guys aware.

I think it has something to do with the acceleration compatibility of many type of graphics cards.
"Unfortunately, due to the wide range of possible driver, video card and operating system combinations, hardware acceleration or 3D web graphics (WebGL) may still not work for you in Firefox. In these instances you fix the problems by disabling hardware acceleration and WebGL. "

  • Samsung monitor/"check signal cable" msg

Been using this monitor for about a year and a half, connecting it to my Mac Mini with a Mini Display Port to VGA adapter.  All of a sudden, I get the "check signal cable" message.  I replaced the VGA cable; no luck.  Then I replaced the adapter; still no luck.  The Mini runs fine; I can access it over my network using my laptop.  Anybody got any suggestions?  Thanks.

Reset the SMC > Resetting the System Management Controller (SMC)
    1. Shut down the computer.
    2. Unplug the computer's power cord.
    3. Wait fifteen seconds.
    4. Attach the computer's power cord.
    5. Wait five seconds, then press the power button to turn on the computer.
and then the NVRAM / PRAM > About NVRAM and PRAM
    1. Shut down the computer.
    2. Locate the following keys on the keyboard: Command, Option, P, and R. You will need to hold these keys down simultaneously in step 4.
    3. Turn on the computer.
    4. Press and hold the Command-Option-P-R keys. You must press this key combination before the gray screen appears.
    5. Hold the keys down until the computer restarts and you hear the startup sound for the second time.
    6. Release the keys.
Then it doesn't work, test the monitor with another computer and/or test another monitor with the Mac Mini.

  • E9280t boots to Starting Windows and then monitor loses signal

PC just arrived last night and is giving me fits. Upon boot it will proceed to the Starting Windows and then the monitor goes black and I get a No Input Signal message. I can hear the Windows startup sounds but it will never go any farther.
I can furiously click to put the system to sleep and after it goes into sleep mode I can power the system off and back on and it will boot to Resuming Windows and then work fine. However the next time I reboot the system it goes back to the Starting Windows issue.
Help please of this thing is going back to HP in pieces.
Video Card is ATI 4850 1GB
    Motherboard bios version is 5.24

Thanks for the reply, but sadly I've already been there and done that. and couldn't get into windows that way at all. In the process of updating the ATI drivers to see if that helps.....

  • Mac mini late 2012, hdmi to Samsung Monitor no signal

mac mini late 2012, OS X ver. 10.9.2, hdmi to Samsung Monitor (S22C300) no signal,
but thunderbolt to hdmi adaptor can work, any fix for hdmi issue?

It would seem that if the Samsung monitor is not waking from sleep, then Samsung has not properly implemented the Wake on Signal that the Mini is sending out. There is nothing unique that Apple would do for one manufacturer. The signal is being sent out and that is why other monitors wake. Your Samsung, and mine, which are both probably different models are not waking when requested by the Mini. The best that can be done is to set the Energy Saving System Preference to not put the monitor to sleep. Use the Screen Saver as desired.

  • External monitor "No Signal" message

MacBookPro mid 2010 with 250GB solid state drive. W80183G9AGZ
Two problems, they may be related
Randomly for some time the computer restarts with the message “Your computer has restarted because of a problem”
This generates a crash report which I always send to Apple.
(Unfortunately this computer does not support Apple Hardware Test nor Apple Diagnostics).
Today the computer will not send a signal to the external monitor, ( a Samsung TV).
I have carried out the following fault finding.
DVI-HDMI cable plugged and unplugged several times in different order before and after -
    Restart
    Shutdown and then Restart
    Reset PRAM
    Reset SMC
The same when using a VGA cable.
With HDMI there is a “No Signal” message, with VGA the screen just stays black.
Both HDMI and VGA previously worked flawlessly.
Checked that the GPUs are switching correctly from the integrated Intel HD graphics to the NVIDEA GForce 330M. Previously, as soon as this happened, the external monitor desktop image would appear immediately.
The presence of the external monitor is not being sensed, in “Displays” in System preferences no second display options are present.
    Questions
Is the video problem definitely the NVIDEA GPU or could it be the computer crashing problem just getting worse?
Is it possible to replace the NVIDEA GPU if it is faulty?
Although the problem seems to be the same with both HDMI and VGA could it still be a problem with the HDMI cable?
