Monitor off or on?

Hi,
Im using GB3 & some Bheringer monitors & a line 6 tone port interface as sound card / guitar simulator.
getting a good monitoring level is difficult,( guitar not as loud as track) i was told to have monitor off in GB, but having it on seems to boost it, but its very distorted.
Any clues in this ares?
Thanks
Rob

So my guess is your monitoring from the tone port. So when you have the monitor off in GB your hearing the guitar dry (before going to GB). When you turn monitoring on you now have a mix of Wet (coming out of GB)and dry. I never used a tone port but there should be some way to control the wet/dry mix on the tone port. Or at least a way to mix live and playback.

  • ISight cam on, but Monitor off ?

    Hi guys,
tried looking for this question in the forums and nothing...
I currently use a Macbook Pro and the latest version of Mac OS X. I also have the Macbook Pro connected to the Flat HD TV.
My question is: How can I turn off the Monitor on the Macbook and be able to use the iSight Cam during video chat.
Currently, the Macbook Pro is open and both monitor and TV shows the same video. To save monitor life, I would like to turn this off but keep the cam on..
    Thanks

Found my own answer at MacForums.
    here's how to do it..
Close your macbook - it goes to sleep, make sure the power adaptor is plugged in.
    wait 5 seconds,
with a wire or wireless keyboard press any keys and wait about 5 sec. The Mac should wake up and show the monitor screen on the external monitor.
After 1 minute, you could open the Macbook Pro monitor cover and the monitor should stay turned off. Allowing you to use the iSight cam with the monitor off and saving the life of the monitor.
Hope this helps other people who's been trying to do this too.

  • Can I run two thunderbolt display monitors off of my new 27" iMac?

Can I run two thunderbolt display monitors off of my new 27" iMac?

Yes, the new iMac has two Thunderbolt ports. Plus Thunderbolt can be daisy chained thru external Thunderbolt drives and displays that have multiple ports.
    For more info, see >  Apple - Thunderbolt: Next-generation high-speed I/O technology.
Although I'm not sure exactlly what Arrangement selections you will be offered in the Displays Preference, because I have not tested that setup myself...

  • Watching videos on external TV with laptop monitor off?

    Hi,
I'd like to view some of my iTunes videos on an external TV but with my G4 Powerbook's monitor off. (Watching full screen videos in full screen mode on the laptop itself tends to produce intense heat and resulting fan noise.)
I connected the laptop to the TV with an s-video cable, and I can view windowed video in dual-monitor mode or full screen video in mirrored mode with both displays showing the same thing...
...but is there any way to just watch it on the TV with the laptop simply sending the video out and not displaying it locally?
    Thanks!

    Hi,
Thanks for the reply. Yes, in the end, I hooked up an external USB mouse in addition to the s-video and power cables. That does allow the laptop to operate with the lid closed and display everything on the external monitor.
Alas, my hope that this would allow me to view iTunes videos without the heat and noise normally associated with full-screen viewing didn't pan out. Maybe time for an upgrade.

  • Brightness controls disabled after Monitor OFF-ON cycle

So this has been a weird problem on my T400 with discrete graphics. I frequently turn my monitor off on battery. Hoever, once I resume it, the brightness control ceases to function. I can see the OSD but there is no control. Also the monitor resumes with lowest brightness. I have power manager I and started noticing the problem after the update.
    - The only remedy i have so far is a full restart.
    System
    T400  8600
    3 GB Ram
    Discrete Graphics
    Windows xp Pro.

Based on cycle count and capacity your battery is in great shape. You might check the adapter and port for debris, and try an SMC reset:

Only Apple can determine whether you qualify for a free replacement - they have a battery tester which they'll use if you bring your MBP into an Apple Store.

  • Effects with Software Monitoring off?

I looked for an answer to this on the forum, but couldn't find one.
I prefer to monitor with the "software monitoring" off to avoid the slight latency that occurs. Is there a way to hear some reverb on the input track when in this mode, or what do you do to avoid the latency if SM is enabled. I set the buffer lower but it is still audible.
thanks in advance from a rookie

Turn ON software monitoring and set the track to "no output" and use a send to go to the reverb. You monitor only the dry voice direct from your interface and only the reverb through Logic.

  • 2013 27" iMac using mini displayport to VGA, external monitor off center.

I recently purchased a new 2013 iMac 3.5 i7 and connected two external monitors. The minidisplayport to DVI adaptor works fine on one monitor but the minidisplayport to VGA is off center on the 2nd monitor. There is a 2" black band on the left side of the screen. I've replaced the adaptor, cable and tried on two different monitors. I've also tried repositioning image in the monitor settings which it can't move far enough. It only happens on 1920 x 1024. Any other resolution is fine. Other than that it works fine, but this space is going to drive me nuts. Because these are 23" monitors I really would like the highest resolution possible. I'm stuck. Any thoughts?

Update: I switched to DVI and it worked perfectly. I guess there could be an issue with the mini displayport to vga adaptor on the 2013 iMac. I also tested it on a 2012 mac mini and the vga operated as it should.

  • MBP 15" 2007 internal monitor off, recognizes only external monitor

My MBP 15" 2.2 2007 2 MB RAM NVIDIA GeForce 8600 internal monitor has no video after startup.  If I connect my Apple Cinema Display to it, the video of the main monitor is on it, and the internal screen stays off.  If I hit the "Detect displays" switch, nothing happens.  I have tried the following:  reset PRAM and NVRAM, reset SMC, repair permissions using Mac OS X Lion Disk Utilities, and Onyx software as well.  I have also formatted the MBP and reinstalled MAc OS, and the problem persists.  Can anybody help?  Many thanks in advance

The max for single-link DVI (which is what comes out of the Mini DisplayPort-to-DVI Adapter) is 2.75 million pixels at 60 Hz, so it can drive a 1920×1200 display, for example.
Your old MBP directly output dual-link DVI, which goes up to 4 million pixels at 60 Hz (2560×1600).
Obviously, you're also limited by the native resolution of the external display.

  • Monitors off for overdubbing

is it possible to turn off the monitors from Logic Express while headphones are still on or do I need to buy a mixer? I have iMac g5 and M-Audio MobilePre USB, Rokit8 monitors. thanks a lot!
    imac g5   Mac OS X (10.4.2)

You could get something like the C-Control:
    http://www.samsontech.com/products/productpage.cfm?prodID=1650&brandID=2
Or better yet, invest on a better audio interface which will enable you to mute the main outs while still hearing the headphones. The Focusrite Saffire does that. Plus, you'll gain better converters, better preamps and a lot of other goodies.

  • Power Saving turn monitor off not working in XP Pro

Hi I just got a new 24" imac (the previous generation, white model)
In windows xp the screen saver works, but the power saving feature to save the monitor and turn it off does not work. Many other people are having this same problem but apple has not fixed it yet.

    please help

I think I resolved this! I had the same issues you have been having for a few months. I am actually running Vista. Here is what I did...
    1. While booted to Windows I uninstalled boot camp
    2. Re-installed boot camp from Leopard DVD
    3. Installed boot camp update 2.1 (downloaded from Apple support, i know this is for XP only, but I updated anyway.)
    4. Downloaded the realtek drivers (high definition audio codecs) from http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/
    5. DO NOT use the Realtek installer to install the drivers...instead extract the contents to a folder.
    6. Go to the device manager, locate the High Definition Audio device and updated the drivers from here (point to the folder where you extracted the drivers).
I now have sound out of the rear jack!! Hope this help someone

  • Is it possible Flash Player is turning my monitor off?

For about 6 months now my Dell Monitor is going off when the screen saver comes on, is it possible it is something to do with the Adobe Flash Player?  I updated to the more current version (11) last night, hoping it would help.

The only way to tell for sure if you uninstall Flash Player completely, then see if it is still happening.

    Hello imajo2,
When pressing the power button you get the message “Power button lockout”, is that correct? I will try to help you with this issue.
Press and hold the power button for 30 seconds and that should disable that function.
