Monitor PeopleSoft sessions with Oracle Coherence
Hello,
I installed Oracle coherence ( one Cache Server ) and two managed servers ( PIA1 and PIA2 ---weblogic 10.3.4).When trying to monitor peoplesoft sessions thru weblogic admin console ( Deployments - Peoplesoft - / - Monitoring - Sessions tab ) nothing displays or no session info . I have parameters ( monitoring - id and session-monitor-enabled = true ) included in weblogic.xml file. Can anyone please guide me here on what I missing ?
Yes I installed C*Web for weblogic session management when I login to Admin console under monitoring tab I can see the coherence servers under coherence tab but under sessions tab it display empty info ( ex it doesn't show who the user logged into the peoplesoft app) and I am not sure how to check the users logged info in the cache server. Can you please let me know if any parameters that needs to be checked wither in web.xml or weblogic.xml files.
thanks NJ for your response...

Using EclipseLink or JPA with Oracle Coherence as shared cache
Hi,
I expect to use EclipseLink with Oracle Coherence as shared cache, mainly with/for Entity Caching.
* JPA)
For JPA queries, is the JPA semantics fully preserved when using Oracle Coherence ?
* Non-JPA)
Are the non-JPA API taking also advantage from Oracle Coherence ?
For these non-JPA queries, is the semantics fully preserved when using Oracle Coherence ?
Regards,
Dominique
PS: I hope this is the right forum to ask my questions.
Otherwise, could you tell me what is the right forum ?
Thanks.Yes, JPA semantics are fully preserved when using TopLink-Grid to cache entities within Coherence.
Yes, the native EclipseLink APIs can also take advantage of TopLink-Grid and Coherence.
I am not sure what you mean by "For these non-JPA queries, is the semantics fully preserved when using Oracle Coherence ?" Perhaps you can provide an example of what you are looking for?

Monitoring Users session with specific profiles
Hi,
I created a specific profile that terminates a session with idle time 4 minutes. I would like to know how to monitoring which sessions are been disconnected by Oracle.
Thanks in advance, enable auditing by using
alter system set audit_trail = db scope=spfile
and bounce
Then issue audit connect
The dba_audit_session view will have the reason why the process was disconnected.

Too many time to open a session with oracle odbc
I have to migrate an internet site in Sql Server to Oracle.
When I connect Oracle Database with Oracle ODBC, it takes 2 or 3 seconds.
So if i have 8 or 10 recordset to open, it takes 20 s.
But when sessions are open, they live about 1 m and during this time i don't have problem to connect to the database. When i don't use the site during more than 1 m, all sessions are closed and so i have to wait.
How can i connect to the database quickly the first time? Are you using connection pooling? Are you pre-allocating connections on startup?

Open a new peoplesoft session with different user id and password.
I am already logged in a peoplesoft session. From here i want to open another peoplesoft session (in different window) with different user and password.
Can anybody help...?The problem you're going to have with this is that in PeopleSoft there are some memory-resident cookies in your browser session that identify your session (jsessionid) to the web server and your identity (PSTOKEN) to the PeopleSoft servlets. With tabbed browsers (Firefox, IE7+) you have to do some "special" things to get them to create multiple browser sessions with distinct cookies.
For Firefox, you have to create a distinct profile. Do this by closing down firefox and running "firefox -ProfileManager" from the command line. Then you can create a second firefox profile (note: it won't inherit any of your bookmarks or add-ins from the existing profile). Then after starting firefox with your default profile, you can start a second instance of firefox with the command line "firefox -p <mynewprofile> -no-remote. This will start a second instance of firefox with it's own cookies that can independently log in to a second PeopleSoft system
For IE7 or IE8, it's a little easier. Start your first browser session as normal, and then to start the second session, use the commandline "C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe" -new. This will start your second browser instance with a new set of cookies.
Hope it helps. -
Open Independent Mulitple sessions with oracle in a LabVIEW exe
Is it possible to maintain different sessions to same database from within a labVIEW exe. I need to have a server to which multiple clients connect. Server starts handler for each client and each handler needs to connect to the database and transact on its own and get some data for the client. This is basically to achieve concurrency. But the operations are happening only sequentially. Please help.

I put a link to all your postings here to help others on the discussion forum to follow your questions.
The problem may be that your server has a single CPU and that it can only do one thing at a time. Another limitation may be the abstraction layer for your database. What version of the Oracle d
b are you using? Do you have this problem across computers or just on a single machine? -
Dual-Screen Sessions with Oracle Desktop Client
Dear All,
I have read that the new version of the SRSS and SRWC support dual-screen separation with Windows 2008 R2 sessions, i.e. Windows sessions are able to determine that they are running on a dual-screen device and allow separation as you'd expect on a fat client. Does anyone know if this functionality is available via the Sun Ray software client or if I'll have to invest in Sun Ray 3 Plus devices? Has anyone actually got this working at all?
Many thanks.
ChrisOK. I've applied patch -05 to the SRSS (which is odd because I thought I'd downloaded 5.1.1) which installed without complaint and have upgraded my copy of the Mac OVDC to 2.1.9.
I've run the command (see previous post) and now I can't seem to connect to the SRSS with or without a card - it's not even connecting to the server to get a pseudo session.
What version of the SRSS patching comes with the 5.1.2 download? It's very confusing with the version numbers not correlating. 5.1.1 seems to come with patch -06 but it refuses to install...
Many thanks.

I was able to integrate PeopleSoft HCM with Oracle SES (with great help from my forum friends ).
I was able to establish Global search in HCM 9.2.
Now I have PeopleSoft ELM installed on host3. I need to integrate this to the same SES Server Installed on host2.
In identity management setup on Oracle SES entry is given for host1(HCM).
How can I achieve this. I know I need to establish Single-Signon between ELM and HCM but, I am not sure how.
Kindly help. Thanks HakanBiroglu for the response.
I went through the post. I am aware of these steps.
But I need help on point 2.

Hi ,
I am facing an issue with Oracle Coherence 3.7.1 in linux m/c , where it’s always creating a new cluster, even if I start a new member provided with same cluster name as argument. -Dtangosol.coherence.cluster=name
It’s not joining the existing cluster , it’s always creating a new cluster with same name in Linux m/c.
But when I tried the same thing in windows m/c , it working fine , even If I start N number cache server’s it joining the same cluster as one more member.
Please someone help me, why it’s always creating a new cluster in linux m/c with same name ? why new VM’s are not joining the existing cluster? , Is there anything extra setup I need to do for Linux m/c.
Thanks in Advance.

Oracle coherence first read/write operation take more time
I'm currently testing with oracle coherence Java and C++ version and from both versions for writing to any local or distributed or near cache first read/write operation take more time compared to next consecutive read/write operation. Is this because of boost operations happening inside actual HashMap or serialization or memory mapped implementation. What are the techniques which we can use to improve the performance with this first read/write operation?
Currently I'm doing a single read/write operation after fetching the NamedCache Instance. Please let me know whether there's any other boosting coherence cache techniques available. In which case, why bother using Coherence? You're not really gaining anything, are you?
What I'm trying to explain is that you're probably not going to get that "micro-second" level performance on a fully configured Coherence cluster, running across multiple machines, going via proxies for c++ clients. Coherence is designed to be a scalable, fault-tolerant, distributed caching/processing system. It's not really designed for real-time, guaranteed, nano-second/micro-second level processing. There are much better product stacks out there for that type of processing if that is your ultimate goal, IMHO.
As you say, just writing to a small, local Map (or array, List, Set, etc.) in a local JVM is always going to be very fast - literally as fast as the processor running in the machine. But that's not really the focus of a product like Coherence. It isn't trying to "out gun" what you can achieve on one machine doing simple processing; Coherence is designed for scalability rather than outright performance. Of course, the use of local caches (including Coherence's near caching or replicated caching), can get you back some of the performance you've "lost" in a distributed system, but it's all relative.
If you wander over to a few of the CUG presentations and attend a few CUG meetings, one of the first things the support guys will tell you is "benchmark on a proper cluster" and not "on a localised development machine". Why? Because the difference in scalability and performance will be huge. I'm not really trying to deter you from Coherence, but I don't think it's going to meet you requirements when fully configured in a cluster of "1 Micro seconds for 100000 data collection" on a continuous basis.
Just my two cents.
Cheers,
Steve

You cannot shadow a session with multiple monitors enabled in Windows Server 2008 R2
Searching through the forums (and according to KB2484290) it appears that there is no solution to this problem. We are rolling out thin clients that are using dual monitors exclusively and we were very surprised to find out that we couldn't shadow
sessions with dual monitors (which to us means that we can't shadow ANY sessions). This now completely changes our approach to managing these devices.
We are running Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1 with Remote Desktop Services installed. The thin clients are running Windows Embedded Standard 7 with the latest updates / RDP client. All steps have been followed to ensure that the apropriate settings and
permissions have been set up to allow access into the session.
We tested by unchecking the RDP setting “use all my monitors for the remote session”, with that setting disabled shadowing worked
Questions:
1. KB2484290 is from Dec 2010 - It's now April 2012, is there a workaround / hotfix for this issue that will allow us to shadow sessions using the native Microsoft tools?
2. Are there any recommended alternatives (software)? Free/Paid - doesn't matter we just need something that will work. I'm sure there are a few options out there but I am looking for suggestions for what people have used in the past that worked
best for them to help us narrow down the choices.Hi,
In my experience, so far, the workaround is Remote Assistance, Remote Assistance supports multiple monitors, and is the presently recommended solution if you need this functionality. Remote Assistance is a Windows Server Feature that must be explicitly installed
on Windows Server 2008 R2; it is already installed with the client versions of the operating system.
More information:

As far as I know, there are some third-party tools can be used as the solution, such as Teamviewer, ISL Online, etc.
Please Note: The third-party products discussed here are manufactured by companies that are independent of Microsoft. We make no warranty, implied or otherwise, regarding
these products' performance or reliability.
