Monitor Port Issues

Hi everyone, i've looked through the forums for an answer to my problem but to no avail.
Ok i'm using a 2002 quicksilver g4 with the stock geforce mx graphics card. I think this card has only ADC and VGA outputs.
Anyway i tried to connect this 19" viewsonic VA902 display that has the standard VGA input but it shows no signal and returns to standby mode.
The question is that i'm puzzled why two VGA devices can't work.
I was also planning to buy a 20" DELL 2007WFP monitor that has Digital DVI-D (HDCP)/ Analog/ S-video/ Composite inputs. As my problem was still unsolved, I am hesistant on getting one.
I would really appreciate it if someone could enlighten me on this issue. Thanks!

I don't know of any way to actually upgrade to win8 in the field through Lenovo.  You could certainly do a retail upgrade if you wanted to though.  Keep in mind secure boot would not be supported for win8 in this case.  Probably not a dealbreaker though.
You might be the first person I've heard of that actually wanted to move a win7 system up to win8, and was not using a tablet or touch PC

  • Port monitoring performance issues

We have 3500Xl series switches and some are running port monitoring so we can gather data on what kind of traffic is flowing through our network. The question is if 1 ethernet port is monitoring all the other ethernet ports on it, what kind of performance issues could we expect, if any. Is there a way to show the performance stats of the switch as well. For example, see below.

    Hi,
I noticed you are attempting this on a 3500XL switch.I'll attach a useful reference to some constraints with SPAN on XL

These older switches use a blocking, shared memory architecture and shared buffers for groups of 4 ports. One performance condition that is possible in this type of scenario is intermittent packet loss within the group of ports when traffic is high. This condition becomes probable when utilisation of ports start exceeding about 70% of bandwidth simultaneously on all ports. The symptom is intermittent because of the nature of  traffic is typically bursty
    Example:
    Monitor port is 48.
    Servers are 45,46,47 -100MB
Let's say a backup is run on the servers and all servers start to hit 70% of available bandwidth. If port is monitoring, then this is = 3 x 70MB = 210MB which exceeds monitor port.
Monitor port would see overruns drops etc
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/partner/products/hw/switches/ps607/products_tech_note09186a0080125913.shtml#troubleshoot_interface_errors
but the server ports could intermittently start dropping traffic because of available buffer taken up by monitor port. There's no real way to determine at what rate this will happen but something to keep an eye out for. You may isolate the monitor port to it's own group of 4.

  • Any known 'porting' issues between 8.2.2 and 9.0 ??

    Hi all,
we are in the process of evaluating LS ES2 (9.0) and would like to know if there are any 'porting' issues between the two versions.   Asked another way, are there any issues in deploying a 8.2.2. LCA onto 9.0 ?
    Dan

8.2 LCA's will run fine in 9.0 if they are just deployed into it.  But in 9.0 a new application model has been introduced, so in order to make changes to anything after you've migrated it you'll need to create an application and migrate your processes and resources into it.  You may want to take a look at the Leveraging Legacy Solution document available online.  Here's the link:  http://help.adobe.com/en_US/livecycle/9.0/workbenchHelp/help.htm?content=leveragingLegacy. html .

  • Airport Extreme Skype works, but not mail or Safari? Port issue?

So I have a weird issue with my AE.
Often the internet will just go away...Safari will not work, iChat will not work and mail will not work. Today when it happened I noticed Skype was still logged in and working. I hadn't noticed this previously since I just this week installed Skype. When I am having an issue with my MacBookPro the MacBook in the house also has the same issue so it can't be my computer.
I also don't think its comcast because of the whole Skype working fine thing. Also when I "borrow" someone elses wifi connection everything works...mail works, Safari, etc...
So it must be something with my Airport Extreme. The only thing I can think of is some port issue. The AE has the lastest firmware from a month ago or so...
This tends to happen about once a week for a few hours and then it suddenly gets better for no apparent reason. The AE is in a cabinet in the entertainment center so it gets a bit warm in there sometimes but this morning it was pretty cool in the house and it still did it so I don't think its heat related...
    Any other thoughts?

naw i'm back in the states now so it's pretty much no longer an issue. thanks though! If you know anything about mirror agent and logout issues you could look at my other question in using mac OSX Tiger called "mirror agent & failed logout -- HELP!"
    thanks!!

  • Cisco Network Analysis Module (NAM) data monitoring port

Hi, need some insight on this please.  Your comments are appreciated.
My Cisco NAM 2220 comes with 10G data monitoring port, can I configure an IP address on this port for data monitoring?
or this data port can only support monitirong span, rspan, ersapn, vacl only (not for IP routing) and needs to be functioning in a promiscuous mode only?
    Many thanks

  • Catalyst 2950 Series - Monitoring Port

Do the catalyst 2950 series have a port that can be used to connect a device that is designed to monitor all traffic on the switch - we are looking to install Webspy to track network & internet usage. The Sentinal product would best be connected to the switch where it can record all traffic - it needs a monitor port or some such equivalent.

    Hi,
The 2950 does indeed support that - the functionality is called Switch Port Analyzer (SPAN). The following link has details on how to configure it:

  • MSI Gaming 5 USB ports issue

    Hello everyone,
I apologize if I posted this in the wrong section, so as the title says it, sorta of a huge USB ports issue just happened after installing the motherboard / windows / all drivers, even restarted a few times
then tested the processor and video card.
Everything ok to that point, I left the pc opened for 3 hours, shut it down, the next day..I couldn't type the windows password.
Alright restart, that maybe one of those kinks that goes away on it's own I guess..Switched each device in different ports..nothing, tried only one device..still nothing.
Tried only usb2.0 ports then 3.0 port > a a little panic kicked in :D
So, in my bios I was seeing 2 keyboards 2 mice..ok...got a bios update from msi site..latest one..flash ..reboot..still nothing.
Strange part was..they were working just fine in bios and everything prior to windows loading, even after that mouse was showing power ( led was ok )but no functionality.
Safe mode didn't help..the miracle of last known good config saved the day.
BUT after choosing the option..ok it started working....randomly..I was typing the windows pass...and right in the middle ...it stopped again..mouse was working...tried again..stopped at 75% of the password.
Tried again...it worked > Reinstalled every driver.. seems stable for now, though being day 2 of this whole deal.
So if anyone honors me with enough time to read the story and maybe relate I would glady appreciate it.
Guys if anyone had any usb related incidents with any of the Z97Gaming boards please share
If I missed anything, please ask.
    Thank you

    Hello everyone,
Sorry for the delay in all of this and thank you for the input.
Specs are below, and this is something currently in the process of being upgraded.
    I7 4790k / MSI Gaming 5 / Sirtec 500W / 8 gb ram  Corsair Vengeance / AMD sapphire 7970 GHZ / one single HDD 1 GB
The Windows installation went fine on 2 other colleagues from work.
For the moment stable, I removed and reinstalled all USB related drivers.
It was a weird one though..

  • Charging port issues

So I see almost everyone that has the Incredible 2 has had a charging port issue. I love it how one Verizon store told me it was a known issue and another store said it wasn't. It seems like it is well known and Verizon nor HTC wants to own up to it. Everyone that has this issue should not have to pay the $99 out of warranty fee for a refurbish phone. I got to wait a month to get my upgrade. The only way my phone charges is through my laptop usb cord which is weird but not my wall charger. To be honest, I might have to switch to a different brand or maybe even go to a different carrier.

Well, when you see how many people are on here writing the same issue and a Verizon rep replying to trying to take care of it, its going to be a known issue. Even called HTC to see how much to fix through them. The gentleman has had calls in the past and recently about people complaining about the same issue. I know Verizon stores don't fix these issues in the store, but I expect better from a smartphone. All of my phones in the past never had this issue.
Regarding the service, Verizon still has the best in my area.
When you work retail, you should help a customer try to fix there issue by at least mentioning someone who can fix it.
Not just trying to sell another product. That isn't good customer service.

  • Configuring a Monitoring Port

What is the correct configuration on the switch side (Nexus 5K) when configuring a monitoring port from the FIs?

You don't have to...Just put a 1GbE SFP in the FI, plug your Laptop into it and start a monitor session.

  • Need help indentifying the external monitor port on my MacBook 2,1 Notebook.

I’m having trouble indentifying the external monitor port. Its larger than the newer ports that are on the later MacBook and MacBook Pro it has 2 rolls of teeth and is taller then the later models. • IPhone 5c Orange EE PORTING ISSUES/SMS Problems

    Hi,
I upgraded from Orange to EE a year ago and opted to keep my original phone number.
The day I had the phone I restored all my settings from the cloud. Everything worked fine apart from SMS messaging to non-iPhones.
I found out that I only had the email selected on the send and receive section of the settings, at the time my was greyed out and I could not select it, this has now disappeared completely!
I rung EE customer services and we went through EVERYTHING to try and fix this phone so I could send SMS messages. They told me it was a porting issue and it would be resolved in a week or so, but a year on, I'm still brother getting my SMS service.
Also although iMessage works, it still says waiting to connect in both message and face time settings.
I've tried everything with this phone and not even EE could solve it.
    What's going on?

    Hello
Welcome to the EE Community! Wow, you're a patient one! Waiting a whole year is a very long time - I'd definitely advise you contact the team again to get this put on the radar again. Here's how to get in touch with the EE Customer Service team:
If you're on Twitter, you can tweet them @EE, however If you'd prefer to talk to someone, you can dial:

  • W540 and Ultradock Display Port Issue with Monoprice 27" Monitor

    Hi,
I have been troubleshooting an issue with my W540 and Ultradock for over a month now.
The issue is that the display port will not recognize my Monoprice 27" monitor.  This same monitor was working previously with my W520 and a different dock (ThinkPad Mini Dock Plus Series 3) through the same display adapter.  The current monitor will work on the DVI port, but I obviously can't get the full resolution of the monitor without the display port adapter.
    So far I have tried:
    1) Updating the drivers of the laptop
    2) Updating the drivers of the dock itself to 2.22
    3) Power cycling the monitor with the PC connected, not connected, etc.
    4) Switching between Standard/Advanced mode in the BIOS
    5) Nearly every iteration of monitor detection in the screen resolution settings
    6) Changing cables, adapters, and display ports
What is different in my scenario (based off of the other issues I've seen with the Ultradock and W540) is that the monitor is never even detected under any circumstance through the display port.  Device manager never sees it, nor does the normal monitor detection procedure.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Best,
    Austin

    Any ideas?
I am about to throw this in the trash...  It's now defaulting my DVI port monitor to 640x480 without the option to change it.

  • Macbook Pro and external monitor sleep issues.

I recently upgraded to a new 13 inch MacBook Pro to replace my previous one.  With the upgrade, I'm now on the latest OS and I have a Thunderbolt instead of Mini-displayport output.  I have a Dell U2410 monitor which has worked great up until now, but I now have the following behavior:
When the laptop sleeps (or puts the display to sleep) the monitor begins to turn on and off.  It goes to powersave mode and immediately wakes up, realizes there's no signal, and goes back to powersave mode, etc etc etc.
When I wake the computer up from sleep, the monitor's behavior stays the same.  The laptop never detects the display and begins sending a signal.
If I unplug and replug the adapter, all is well.
There seem to be two separate issues: whatever signal the computer continues to send down the display cable after sleep seems to confuse my monitor, secondly, the computer never again sends a real video signal down the line after it wakes up.
I'm on the latest 10.8.3.  My adapter is the same adapter I have been using for years, an apple mini-display port to DVI adapter.  Supposedly this adapter is still compatible with the Thunderbolt port.
I've seen lots of issues online about wake up issues with the latest OS.  Is there a workaround for this yet or do I have to uplug my monitor anytime I sleep the computer?

    Hi Steve,
I have had the exact same issues after adding a WD Thunderbolt Duo external drive to a Mid 2011 iMac and then daisy chaining the Dell U2410 monitor off that.
My Mini DP to DVI cable ceased working properly - sleeps issues.
After buying one of these adapters of Ebay:
    http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/3-in-1-Mini-Displayport-to-HDMI-with-audio-DVI-DP-ada pter-3in1-convertor-Macbook-/110861703462?pt=US_Audio_Cables_Adapters&hash=item1 9cfdf5926
I then tried all the different cables that came originally with the Dell U2410 with that adapter, and none of then would put the U2410 to sleep properly. The backlight would stay on, or "No Displayport Cable" would float around the Dell display with the backlighting still on. Or otherwise the Dell would try to go to sleep and then wake up again and cycle like you found.
Apples Mini DP to VGA adapter was sleep successful with the VGA cable (Analogue) but the output picture was not as sharp as DVI or Displayport, plus there was RF interference with the cable.
After lots of internet searching I have found a near perfect solution:
A HDMI to DVI cable with the HDMI end connected to the Ebay 3 in 1 adapter, which then connects to the Thunderbolt port.
Connect this to DVI-D 1 on the Dell U2410.
On the Dell in Menu - Other Settings,  disable DDC/CI
Now in OSX Settings - energy Saver you will have to tick:
"Put Hard Disks to sleep where possible" and select a short time frame for "Computer Sleep"
I have found that the display would go black but the backlighting on the Dell U2410 would stay on, when the display went to sleep on the Mac as per the Energy Saver "Display Sleep" setting.
The backlighting on the Dell would only turn off when the time for 'Computer Sleep" has elapsed and the external Thunderbolt hard disk went to sleep as well.
The Dell U2410 would then wake up correctly as well when my iMac woke, with this setup.
Cheapest solution for you would be to try an Apple or Ebay HDMI to DVI adapter and then use the DVI - DVI cable that came with the Dell.
If that fails get the 3 in one Adapter and use my Mini DP/Thunderbolt to Ebay Adapter to DVI-DVI cable setup.
I'm assuming your new Macbook Pro comes with the HDMI port ?
I believe the Sleep Issues with this monitor are all related to appropriate signal on the cable, and only the HDMI to DVI solution will work correctly on Mac's connected to the Dell U2410.
    Good Luck. :-)

  • Monitor compatibility issue syncmaster

    To whom it may concern,
I have the following problem with my Macbook. I used to use my Samsung Syncmaster 2243BW monitor as an extra display connected to my macbook. It used to work fine with Leopard 10.5, but since the SnowLeopard came out it doesn’t work anymore.
I used a Minidisplay port to VGA adapter to connect my monitor to the macbook, but if i change to display resolution to the native resolution (1680x 1050) the display keeps switching between analog and digital display, but doesn’t show any picture.
The problem occured first when Snow Leopard came out, and remains since than.
It seems that the problem only appears with this particular type of monitor (Samsung Syncmaster 2243BW), as I tried with a different type it worked fine.
Also, when i try to update the software to the MiniDisplay Port to VGA adapter, it does not recognise the plugged in adapter, it says that „the installer doesnt find the adapter”.
The problem still remains, and i could not find any solution on forums or discussions whatsoever, and i ve found other people with the same problem but no solution.
Please look into my problem and find a solution, since im not alone with the same issue.
    I’m waiting for your answer.
    Kind regards,

    <Edited by Host>

I have a similar issue with Syncmaster 2233SN. Actually it was working fine as long as I was using snow Leopard 10.6.2 but when I installed the 10.6.3, my Mac stopped handling correctly the 16:9 format of my external monitor. Therefore it displays 1920x1080 pixels on a portion of the monitor covering a 16:10 ratio. In other words, it fills the height but does not fill the width. With 1920x1080 it squeezes the image so I must choose the lower resolution of 1680x1050 which is a correct 16:10 image but NOT the native resolution of my monitor. As usual when you use a non-native resolution, the image doesn't look as good.
Can we expect a fix with the coming 10.6.4 patch? Has a solution been found already? (I searched Google but found nothing). It's really a problem because working all day long with the external monitor is just horrible for the eyes. And the 1280x800 resolution of the Macbook Pro 13 isn't convenient for using Xcode and Interface Builder.
