Monitor profile unloads when games open?!
okay, so after a long time of wondering why quake 4 on one computer looks hideously green and it looks just fine on my powerbook, i realized that when quake 4 opens, the monitor profile is UNLOADED.
now, i dont have any other games installed on the one computer so i cant test other full screen things, but i would imagine a similar issue. so, what in the heck is going on?
any ideas? =(
Manufacturer-supplied profiles are notoriously unreliable and often outright defective. The problem is that they are often pushed through Windows Update to unsuspecting users. Avoid them. If you click "hide this update" the next time it comes up it won't come back.
The Photoshop message means what it says. Choose "Ignore" to throw it out and replace it with the Windows default, which is sRGB IEC61966-2.1. The proper fix is to make a custom profile with a calibrator, but if you don't have one it's always best and safest to use sRGB.
The manual way to do this is to go into Control Panel > Color Management > Devices. Relaunch Photoshop after you've changed the profile (it needs to pick up the correct profile at startup):

Monitor Goes Brighter when CS6 Opens
I noticed that when I open CS6 the monitor goes brighter than the calibrated display. When CS6 closes, it goes back to the darker calibration. When I open LR, the monitor brightness stays the same. I checked my settings and the calibrated profile is the default. I have a Samsung laptop with Radeon ADM graphic and Intel Core i7, using Wndows 7. Can anyone direct me to fix this?

Soft Proofing: View Proof Setup Custom: Profile Disappears when Re-opened
Photoshop CS6 on Mac
Edit an image file and get it to where I like on the monitor
Duplicate the file and set the new file to the profile for the printer which will be used, by using View > Proof Setup > Custom and setting an imported printer profile for the printing company that I use.
As soon as you do that, the file looks like crap, so...
Edit the soft proof file to get it to where it looks good again.
Save off the file for the printer and also save the new PSD file.
Close the PSD file.
Reopen the new (soft proofed) PSD file.
Still looks good, but.... when you check View > Proof Setup it's now generally set to Custom: U.S. Web Coated (SWOP) v2 instead of to the imported printer profile which was set previously. WHY???? Where did the printer profile go? Is it supposed to do this?
If I then reset View > Proof Setup to the correct printer profile, the image goes to crap again.
Is this me doing something wrong, or is the PSD file not properly remembering the printer profile, or... what's going on here?
Thanks much!None of what you write makes any sense whatsoever to me, sorry.
Let's start by using correct terminology. For the last time, you are not "importing" any freaking profile. Wrap your head around that once and for all, please.
Let me try once again, totally disregarding the scenarios you were unsuccessfully attempting to describe above. Forget all that mumbo jumbo for now, please.
You have not mentioned what your working space is, so let's assume it's Adobe RGB.
You have finished editing an image, so now you have an AdobeRGB-tagged image. Fine.
Now you want to soft proof it to see what it will look like in that FujiWonderPrinterInAlaskaUsingMatteThaiElephantPoopPaper printer in Anchorage. (Made up names of course.)
So you make a duplicate COPY of your finished image file named BabyPictForPrint.psd. You're still in Adobe RGB, of course. You put the original away in a safe and forget about it—forever. That's like your negative in film days.
Now you soft proof the BabyPictForPrint.psd COPY by using the infamous FujiWonderPrinterInAlaskaUsingMatteThaiElephantPoopPaper.icc profile the outfit in Alaska sent you.
When you soft proof it with that Alaska profile, you have not imported anything. Photoshop is simply using the profile you pointed it to to show you in your monitor what it would look like. Your pixels so far are untouched, yet yo see your image "die" before your very eyes. Ouch! Now you need to compensate for the effect of printing under those proposed conditions, so you set about the task of editing the copy accordingly. Remember, you're still in Adobe RGB.
Once you have the copy just the way you like it, YOU SAVE ALL YOUR CHANGES in that copy. Now you have a fully edited image file in the Adobe RGB space but tweaked to look fine when printed in the FujiWonderPrinterInAlaskaUsingMatteThaiElephantPoopPaper printer.
At that point you are done! Finished!
Now you are faced with two choices:
A) Sending the finished, saved ADOBE RGB COPY to your printer if you consider him capable of knowing what he's doing. (If you think he does not know his business, look for another printer). Or…
B) Assume you're dealing with a moron on the other end who wants the image CONVERTED to his custom FujiWonderPrinterInAlaskaUsingMatteThaiElephantPoopPaper.icc. If that is the case, then open your COPY in Photoshop, go to the Edit menu > CONVERT to Profile… and convert the copy to the infamous FujiWonderPrinterInAlaskaUsingMatteThaiElephantPoopPaper.icc profile. It's critical to use CONVERT TO Profile, not "Assign Profile"!
At that point, under scenario B), you do not EVER want to return to Proof View / Soft Proof mode, ever, EVER again, because then you would be applying the profile doubly and you'd see your image die before your eyes once again, and if you edited it you'd have real elephant poop!
Hope that helps. -
Second monitor only shows when I open PPRO a second time.
CS5 WIN7 - 64 Pro
Looking for a suggestion /solution to an issue I have had for some while.
I have the latest Nvidia Drivers for QuadroFX3800 but the issue began at least two previous versions ago.
I open PPRO and it does not see the second monitor. It is not an option in the Playback settings. (Not even there / Not greyed out)
In fact it shows an image briefly (flashes on then off) on the second monitor then turns it off (ie. the image going to it from the source monitor.)
I shut out of PPRO and re open it almost immediately. Bingo. 2nd monitor shows and its is also an option in the PB menu.I think I'm right in sayng that Mosaic has been added to the latest driver, 267.05 - the ability to stretch the desktop across 2 monitors. I haven't been aware of it before.
I say that because, having toyed with Mosiac, I noticed that PP CS5 did flicker a few times upon boot in a way that it didn't on earlier nVidia releases.
It seems to have settled down now.
Am I not right in thinking, shoternz, that you are using the 2nd monitor as your preview, rather than program monitor? Maybe there's a corrolation.

Satellite P70-A: monitor profile not available/unable to set other profiles
Hello.
I have bough last week a new Toshiba notebook (P70-A-11Q) which has Windows 8.1 preinstalled on it.
It seems that the device has a problem with the monitor profiles.
When i watch images on a non profile managed software, the images look fine.
Once i import them on Lightroom or Photoshop, the images get a yellow tint.
This is what i see: Left (Lightrom), Right (Irfan) [Yello Tint|http://i1252.photobucket.com/albums/hh565/rockreactor/Clipboard05_zps092c5501.jpg]
Unfortunately i have tried to add sRGB on my profiles but even after restarting i did not see any change.
From what i have noticed the operating system did not have any profiles set at all before.
I know that selecting an sRGB profile is not a great solution and i should rather calibrate my monitor.
The question is why don't the profiles take any effect on my notebook monitor, no matter which one i choose.
Could it be that there is some conflict with the Intel display driver ?
Can Toshiba support such an issue under warranty ?
I believe its not my responsibility to get a totally uncalibrated monitor, or at least a laptop without some suggested profile.
Thank you in advanceHi mate
> Can Toshiba support such an issue under warranty ?
First of all warranty does not cover any software issue. The warranty covers only hardware problems.
But I dont think also that this could be a software problem. I guess its just an settings issue.
I recommend you to check if the option +Use Windows display calibration"+ is turned ON
- Open the Color Management control panel.
- Go to the Advanced tab.
- Click "Change system defaults..."
- Go to the Advanced tab in the Color Management - System Defaults dialog.
- Turn on "Use Windows display calibration" and click Close.
- Now go back to the Devices tab, change profiles there and click "Set as Default Profile" as usual.
You can also go through the built-in Windows calibration feature ("Calibrate display" button in the advanced tab) -
Have researched this and found good answers. But my question here is can you turn that pop-up message "The monitor profile "Samsung - Natural Color Pro 1.0 ICM" appears to be defective. Please rerun your monitor calibration software" on and off.
I may have checked the "don't show this message again" ??
If so...can I re-enable the the profile warning message and how ?
Or...does this pop-up only occur if there is a monitor profile issue when Photoshop starts ?
Adobe Photoshop CS4 (64 Bit)
Thanks...TRinAzThe question is what alternative you picked before you checked "don't show". The options are "use anyway" and "discard" - and in the latter case sRGB is used instead.
The Samsung profile is very likely defective (many canned profiles are), so you're better off using sRGB unless you have a wide gamut monitor.
To correct the problem permanently you buy a calibrator to make a new monitor profile. Then it's moot.
EDIT: There is a Reset All Warning Dialogs in Preferences, to answer your question. -
I have been having a issue with getting the colors on my monitor to match the colors fro my print lab. I now have the monitor calibrated to match the prints but when I open elements it doesn't use the same colors. If i have it use the calibrated profile by changing the color management settings, the color picker no longer shows true white or black. How do I get elements 12 to honor the new calibrated settings?
Ok so I've done what you said and this is what it's come back ....
I don't know that these are the errors , but they're the things which don't look right ...
Throughout the shut down there is a recurring line ;
It says ;
Com.apple.launchd 1 0x100600e70.anonymous.unmount 301 PID still valid
Then there are 2 more which I think are related ;
Com.apple.securityd 29 PID job has I overstayed its welcome , forcing removal.
Then the same with fseventd 48 and diskarbitrationd 13
Oh and on Launchd1 : System : stray anonymous job at shut down : PID 301 PPID13 PGID 13 unmount...
Then the last process says "about to call: reboot (RB_AUTOBOOT).
Continuing...
And stops ...
Hope this means something to you ... Thanks again for your help so far :-) -
When I open Elements 13 I have a message. The monitor profile "Dell S2340L color profile, D65" appears to be defective. I have a new Dell PC with Windows 8.1
You can check if the standard Srgb profile has been change.
Close Elements.
Go to Start menu >> Control Panel >> Color Management.
Click the Devices tab.
From the Device pop-up, select your monitor.
Check the ‘Use my settings for this device’ checkbox.
Make a note of the currently selected profile, which is marked as (default). If there isn’t an existing profile, you can skip this step.
Click the Add button.
In the Associate Color Profile dialog, select sRGB IE61966-2.1 (sRGB Color Space Profile.icm) and press OK.
Back in the Color Management dialog, select the sRGB profile and click Set as Default Profile, and then close the dialog. -
Error when I start Photoshop "Monitor profile appears defective"
Over the past few weeks I have gotten a error popup message when I open Photoshop that says:
"DELL E22IOH G2.2 D65" appears to be defective. Please rerun your monitor calibration software.
If I choose the IGNORE option I can go into Photoshop error free. BUT, if I choose USE ANYWAY I get into Photoshop and the colors are off. There is no more white color (it's not a pale yellowish color).
I haven't changed any settings in my Photoshop recently (why tinker with something when it's not broken?). Regardless, this error message isn't going away and would like to correct this problem. Anyone ever experienced this before? I've googled the problem and have seen some weird so-called solutions but figured I'd go to the pro's to get a answer I can trust.
If it matters, I use Windows XP.

I'd say your monitor profile is corrupted, or at least unusable by Photoshop.
Did you install a new monitor, or bring in new software or an update to where your system now knows more about the monitor hardware than it did before? Did you update Photoshop to a new revision?
This would not be a settings issue with Photoshop, but rather what profile you have associated with your monitor via the operating system. Right-click your desktop, choose Properties, then the Settings tab, and [Advanced] button. Systems differ at this point, but look for a Monitor tab and Color Management function where you can choose a monitor profile to associate with a particular display monitor.
Ultimately you want to try to determine what monitor profile file is being identified by "DELL E2210H G2.2 D65" and see if you can get another copy of it (e.g., from Dell.com). Note that you misinterpreted the 10 as IO in your original message, so a search for the string as I have listed it here may turn up more results.

Noel,
Did not install a new monitor or a new version of photoshop or anything else for that matter. I did however update a windows update several weeks ago. Im not sure but I think the error occurred after that update.
I was able to follow your steps and found the color management function, but there was only one profile listed. -
When I open a pdf file, after a few seconds, it hides the toolbar and I don't know how to get it back. I use multiple monitors and, without being able to grab the toolbar, I am unable to move the pdf file to a different monitor. How do I stop this?
Does Firefox switch to full screen if you press F11 ?
You can also try the F10 key to see if that brings up the menu bar.

************** JIT Debugging **************
To enable just-in-time (JIT) debugging, the .config file for this
application or computer (machine.config) must have the
jitDebugging value set in the system.windows.forms section.
The application must also be compiled with debugging
enabled.
For example:
<configuration>
<system.windows.forms jitDebugging="true" />
</configuration>
When JIT debugging is enabled, any unhandled exception
will be sent to the JIT debugger registered on the computer
rather than be handled by this dialog box.

==============================================================Hi,
Just several ideas to be checked:
1. Please, verify the prerequisites of Operations Console listed by the following link:
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dn249696.aspx
2. Install all the SCOM related system updates.
3. Clear SCOM Console cache:
http://systemcenter.no/?p=215
4. Try to clean up Ops Manager cache on SCOM Management server. To do this stop Microsoft Monitoring Agent service, navigate to SCOM installation path (by default, C:\Program Files\Microsoft System Center 2012 R2\Operations Manager\Server) and
delete Health Service State folder. Start Microsoft Monitoring Agent service afterwards.
5. If nothing helps, maybe try to reinstall SCOM Console.

why does pointer become a pinwheel when I open one particular folder only and prevent me from opening the apps in it and then keep me from closing the folder unless I shut down the computer completely. I can open all other folders on the desk top without a problem. My game folder never gave me trouble before.
Try this. Open one of your files. The window that contains your picture is named at the top. Command click on the name and you'll see the entire path starting with its name and then moving to the folder, the folder it is contained in, etc all the way to down to the hard drive volume name. This should tell you where to find the folder.

I have multiple Firefox profiles for the different people that use my computer, and I would hate for someone to accidentally delete my profile when going online. Is there anyway I can disable that button when Firefox starts, and only have it work when I open the profile manager?
I was originally just gonna give everyone their own Windows login, but it's easier for me to just do it this way. Help is appreciated. If there is already a Firefox instance open that uses a specific profile then you only open a new window in that instance it you click another Firefox shortcut.
Be aware that if no Firefox instance is open and you click a link in anther program (Windows Explorer or email) and Firefox is the default browser then Firefox will use the profile that is selected in the profile manger as the currently selected profile.
