Monitor remote MaxDB

We have installed SAP Content Server with MaxDB on Windows 2003 server for DMS project and would like to manage the MaxDB with DBACOCKPIT from our ERP 6.0 system.
Instructions say: "To monitor remote databases via database connections, you need to install appropriate database client software and the database-dependent part of the SAP dbsl libraries."
Where would we get these for i5/OS?  We are on V6R1M0.
TIA,
Margie

Hi Margie,
yes, you are fully correct, you do need the DB client Software ...
Yes, this is since about 2 years available for MaxDB on iSeries ))
Go and get the patch lcc_2-20001357.sar (if you are on kernel 7.0 unicode)
... you have to check a bit for the installation instruction as you NEED to use QSECOFR for this installation as this is the only "root compatible" user on iSeries ... perhaps one of the porting team could shortly describe this here ...

    Hello,
I use a Windows 7 Enterprise PC at work with dual monitors, I work from home on a regular basis and I use a Macbook Pro with Mountain Lion.
I need to know if there is a way to remote login and use a dual monitor as well, when I have 2 monitors hooked on my Macbook pro, the remote login window only appears in one of them, is there a way to have it split like I have it at work? I really need to use 2 monitors remotely connected to my PC at work in order to split my work on both monitors.

  • Monitoring remote sites

I understand that some companies outsource to BEA to monitor remote sites in case of a failure in the routers or system. I was wondering what are the prices for the monthly management fee, installation fee and adding a router such as T1 or 56K? Our company was considering outsourcing this problem so we could concentrate our resources to improve our business. Is there a person I can contact to get this information?

I think several companies do this.
I am working with a company who will be offering this if you are interested I can foward your name to them.

  • XFCE, possible to monitor remote dedicated web server? Conky et al?

    Hi all,
I'm new to Arch, this is my 3rd day.  I'm still actually fairly new to Linux, and haven't done a lot of customization, especially with desktop monitoring and status apps like conky and etc.  I'm running Arch on a fairly old laptop, and I don't do a lot of performance hogging things, so I really have no interest in monitoring my local machine or displaying stats of my local machine on my desktop.  But, if it were possible to somehow aggregate performance and stats from my remote webserver that would be fantastic.
Even if it's something as simple as uptime and cpu load averages or anything like that.  Has anyone ever done any kind of remote server monitoring on the desktop and if so, what's the best program to install for that?  I've never used conky before or any other, so before I invest a bunch of time in one, if it's not going to meet these particular needs, I'd rather get some direction from you guys.
as for my webserver, it is a dedicated web server running debian (Dreamhost), so I have full capability to install what I need to install on it in order to make the performance monitoring available, as long as whatever I need to install is secure.  I only have ssh and ftp access to the server as far as I know.
Thanks!  Looking forward to learning so much from this distro!  So far I feel like I've dived into a magical swimming pool of knowledge absorption and my linux knowledge has almost doubled in two days. You guys rock!

    ps: Here's my desktop - http://imgur.com/a/3TZE6

Conky has the ability to execute arbitrary commands and capture the output.  Take a look at man conky and see the information on the exec command and friends.
    Edit:
Oh, and welcome to Arch Linux

  • HP w2558hc 25.5-inch Vivid Color Full HD Widescreen Flat Panel Monitor Remote Does Not Do Anything

I just got the monitor and trying the new stuff out.  Hit a couple issues like ... I have tried the remote came attached to the monitor ... the little one in the slot ... but it does not change the volume or anything else . Is there something else I am to do to get to work. Allen

I got the plastic cover off the battery and the battery came out with it, now I cannot put it back in, I suppose it has to slide under the lip but there is a little 'sort of' clip sticking out in the battery hole, below the model and serial number that stops the battery from sittiing properly in the slot.  Anyone experience this??

  • RZ20 Monitoring of MaxDB

    Hi,
On some of my newer system eg Solution Manager with SPS 15 I have the ability to monitor MaxDB in RZ20 for various things but in our "not yet updated" systems running ERP 6.0 SPS 10 I only get an option under Database for "SAP DB" which is inactive. It seems that these slightly older systems have a problem with the method definition used in data collection for MaxDB. I have tried to assign the methods the same as they are assigned to my updated Solution Manager system but it doesn't allow me to assign a method for data collection(only analyze) for some reason.
What requirements are there to get MaxDB monitoring correctly in RZ20 ?
    Many thanks.

  • Performance Monitor Remote Data Collection unable to get data

When attempting data collection of a remote Windows 2008 server (Server_B) from another W2k8 server (Server_A) I receive the following error:  "When attempting to start the Data Collector Set the following system error occurred:  No data to
    return."
However remote real-time monitoring of Server_B is no problem.  Also, local real-time monitoring and data collection of Server_A is successful.
Is the error due to security restrictions?

    Hi Scott,
Would you please let me know whether have administrator rights on the server trying to collect data collector set?
Please type services.msc on RUN. When Services panel opened, please navigate to Performance Logs & Alerts

  • Monitoring Remote Applications

    Hello,
Can I use Jconsole on my local machine to monitor java applications running on a remote server (shared hosting) for which X11 forwarding has been disabled? JDK 1.5 is installed on the remote server.
If this is possible, how do i set it up?
NB: the remote server is a linux box, with apache jserv disabled and
the hosting provider does not support X11 forwarding. My Local machine is a windows xp box.

<p>JConsole will run on your Windows XP machine so you don't need X11 Forwarding. Just connect to your remote JMX agent using its JMXServiceURL.</p>

  • Can't turn off Resource Monitor in MaxDB 7.8 ?

    Hi,
I'm in the process of upgrading all our systems from MaxDB 7.6 to 7.8 as part of a ERP6 EHP5 upgrade and I've noticed in DB50 I can't seem to "Stop Recording" of the Resource Monitor. The status remains "Started" and the "Start Recording" button is grayed out even after I've tried to stop it and refreshed the status.
Am I missing something here or is this a bug of sorts ?
    Thanks.
    Nelis
    System: SLES 10SP3, MaxDB 7.8.02.24 64bit, ERP6 EHP5

    Hello,
in MaxDB Version 7.8 the data of the ressource monitor is collected  via SharedSQL.
When the parameter SHAREDSQL is switched on - which is recommended for better performance in database,
then you will get the information in the ressouce monitor.
There is no other possibilty anymore to switch the ressource monitor off than to set the Parameter USESHAREDSQL=NO - which is only recommended due the  errors/problems as workaround.
You only need to check that the COMMAND monitor is not switched on by default. The Command Monitor should only be switched on during the performance analysis.

  • Repcheck - A Simple Bash Script To Monitor Remote Repos Commits

    Hello all,
I'm using a few git/svn packages from the AUR, and only recently realized that while to PKGBUILD itself is able to pull and build the latest version, the package version in the AUR will not update, unless a new PKGBUILD is pushed by the maintainer, and so my update monitor isn't aware of those remote updates.
I've looked for a convenient way to track such changes, but all I could find were "live" monitors that run constantly and check for updates in a given repo in a set interval.
It didn't fit my needs, so I wrote a script myself.
The script basically maintains a file containing repo address and current revision number (for SVN) or hash (for GIT).
Whenever an update operation is done, all remote hashes are compared to those stored in the file and if updates are found, a notification is sent.
In case of GIT repos, the script also tries to find corresponding AUR package (I couldn't find a standard for SVN addresses...).
It is up to the user to update currently installed version to latest remote version if he wants, script only displays notification.
    Dependencies:
    - bash
    - git
    - subversion
    - libnotify
    * EDIT *
    Updated script in next post.

  • Can MARS monitor Remote supervisor adapter cards?

Remote supervisor adapter (RSA) is the out-of-band management interface card.  Could MARS monitor and accepts logging from his type of device?

The MARS does not support this device, this is the official list:
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/security/security_management/cs-mars/6.0/compatibility/local_controller/dtlc60x.html
You may write your own custom device package if you wish

  • Monitoring Remote Access

We have a requirement to monitor in real time what a user is doing when logged on from a remote location. For example mirror the session as it occurs. Interested in any solutions being used by other SAP installations.

Do you need this on a regular basis or as a one time control?
I think it is very difficult, if the user can connect every time he wants. I assume you want to replay the session later on, so the monitoring should be done in the background and nobody watches the session online?
If the user has to request the connection and you have enough time to watch his session online I would use a remote control tool like VCN or web conference tools.

  • Restrict monitors Remote Desktop

I am logging into a Win Server 2008 R2 machine via RDC and when I have the max monitors set to 4, it fills all four of my screens.  I would like to limit that use to only two or three however at times, but when I do that, it is limited to only one and
the window will not maximize past the size of my smallest screen.  I suspect it has something to do with the Winposstr:s: dimensions but I don't understand them.
Can anyone help with this issue?

but when I do that, it is limited to only one and the window will not maximize past the size of my smallest
    Hi,
    What did you do?
For this issue, please check the following setting with group policy:
    1.Press Win +R,and type gpedit.msc.
2.Navigate to the following Group Policy: Computer Configuration>Administrative Templates>Windows Components>Remote Desktop Services>Remote Desktop Session Host>Remote Session Environment
3.Check  the following setting with group policy:
You can configure the group policy above to limit the number of your monitors and maximum display resolution.

  • Noob. How Can I monitor Remote Devices?

I think I'm running the risk of being yelled "RTFM you bludger" at, but ...
I have a client with a number of servers in different locations. I want to monitor those servers for things such as predictive disk failure, out of space, overheating etc. I don't want to monitor PCs, routers etc etc, just the servers.
I want to impress the client as they are growing and at the moment, don't want to pay me to setup any monitoring, but I want some monitoring to head off any disasters before they strike, I see that as a win/win.
So is there a quick and easy guide I can follow to get monitoring of remote devices setup and so on?
