Monitor screen displays no signal

My computer displays HDMI 1 HDMI2 then VGA on the top right corner then goes no signal and the monitor goes to sleep this can happen when I'm using the computer or afterwards and i Checked device manager and my graphics card is fine, any ideas on how to fix it also when playing games it goes no signal but I can still hear audio while the screen is black and goes to sleep

G40, no external monitor screen display

I have connected an external LCD monitor (and tried a second) but the ext. monitor is unable to detect a signal.
Have tied the Presentation Director wizard and it can't see the LCD either.
It's possible that the ext. VGA port is damaged but unlikely.
Latest bios.

I know that I'm probably grasping at straws here, but have you checked your BIOS settings?

External monitor works only works when laptop screen displays

Hi there, I just connected a different (newer, but not brand new) external monitor to my T61. When I toggle screens (fn-f7) the external display gets no signal in the 'external display only' position, but displays beautifully in the 'both' position. This never happened with my old monitor. I would like to use the external display and not have the laptop screen display. Any ideas? Many thanks, Ellen

After connecting external monitor, press win key+p and thrn choose projector only.

Monitor display no signal input

my computer turn on but the monitor display no signal input. I plug my monitor to other computer and the screen shows my icons and everything but when I plug other monitor to my computer it say no signal input. How do I fix my computer to communicate with the monitor.

When desktop goes blank then there's no more signal from the pc.
So the monitor says 'NO SIGNAL INPUT'.
What's the problem?

I am using a HP pavilion elite HPE and a HP x23LED monitor. This problem just occurred this afternoon and I have been trying to rectify it to no avail. Everything was working perfectly till today. I was on a game when the screen went black and displayed the 'no signal' message, and then went to sleep (led on monitor turned from blue to amber). CPU was still running and sounds were still playing. Subsequently I have been force shutting down and restarting the computer - the monitor will display images of the boot up process - sometimes up to the desktop - before going blank again. I have googled the problem and tried reseating the graphics card (and cleaning it) - problem persists. The same issue happens when I try using another monitor via another VGA cable. Any help is greatly appreciated. Will be standing by for reply! Thank u

I understand that your display is black.
It sounds like the graphics card may have gone out.
Turn off the computer.
As you power it back on tap the F8 key to load advanced diagnostics.
Select safe mode.
Check to see if the computer will load windows.
You may need to take the computer some where local and have them check out the card.
Let me know how everything goes.

Are flat-screen displays more harmless than old monitors?

Hey guys, I know our community has very knowledgeable members...
I'm not sure if I've have grounds to say this, I don't remember if I read this before or heard this before of saw this before. I think that flat screen displays are more friendly to the eye than the old deep monitors (like that of the current eMac), do you know if this is true?
My mom and dad are planning to replace their eMac-like monitor which nowadays is operating faultly. I suggested a flat-screen display but I'm not sure if it's worth the extra money. We have no space issues, so a new fat monitor would be perfectly okay. We're only concerned about the whatever-it-is that the monitor radiates and that could deteriorate my parents' vision.

I recently used an EMF meter (used for testing for electrical radiation) on a 14" Colour Portable TV in my daughter's bedroom and it went mad within 3 feet which is very worrying if you were sat in front of it which she was. I did the same test on an eMac at work and it was fine. I would conclude that LCD's are without a doubt better for your eyes due to the way they emit light but I think it would be unfair to assume all CRT's are made equal and eMac's in my experiment appear to be fine.

I have Mac book 15. MAC OS X Version 10.5.8 is installed with Windows XP dual boot function.
My screen display got hazy and blurred, sometimes it is ok, but only in win xp.
I have tried it with external LCD, its worked fine, but second screen is stretching display, but showing me the same screen in MAC.
But in win XP display comes exactly on MAC book, means sometime hazy , sometimes ok.

Retina to Samsung Syncmaster monitor: NO DISPLAY

I have recently bought a Macbook 15" retina. I already had the Samsung monitor display. (syncmaster 2333HD).
But when I'm connecting them with the thunderbolt to HDMI converter, I get no display on my Samsung display, nothing.
The only thing I note, is that my macbooc's screen gives a blue flash when I pull out the cable (thunderbolt).
Can somebody please help me?

I'm having the same problem.
Here's what's happening on my end:
Macbook Pro Retina 15" is suppose to 'Plug & Play' easily to Samsung 23" Monitor (syncmaster 2333) using thunderbolt to DVI cable.
This monitor only offers a DVI and VGA ports.
Also, tried using the rMBP's HDMI cable to HDMI-DVI adapter in the Samsung monitor. (same symptoms as with other cable)
rMBP's screen shows blue for a moment when the cable is removed or connected from computer port then goes back to normal screen.
Samsung Moniter's blue power light on the bottom edge of the screen blinks at 1 sec intervals (so power isn't an issue)
After pressing the "Menu" button on the side of the monitor a "test good" message displays in the top left corner for a moment then goes blank. (actual monitor menu does not show)
After pressing the 4th button from the top (looks like a back arrow or return arrow icon) it seems to switch from digital to analog (I think) and a floating message displays "Check Signal Cable" with a red, green, and blue box and "Analog" in the floating box. During this the monitor's blue power light on the edge of the screen is a steady solid blue not blinking anymore.
System Preferences Display doesn't show any indication of sensing another monitor is connected.
I have tried to connect to a Samsung 46" HDTV via HDMI to HDMI port and that works wonderfully yet isn't practical for my desk set up. Just glad to know that something actually worked and I'm not cursed.
Not sure what I'm doing wrong here. Would really like to use this 2nd monitor. Any and all help would be greatly appreciated. I hope I gave enough details.

HDTV as monitor via hdmi no signal

So I recently purchased my macbook pro 13" as my first mac and I've got to say that I love it. However, the one thing that has given me problems is when I try to use my HDTV as a monitor. It is an Insignia ns-32LCD. I am using a Rocketfish mini display to hdmi adapter. My Mac will detect a monitor and show me options for resolutions, but the TV still displays "no signal." As I'm new to the Mac I was wondering if there was maybe some display settings I am simply not familiar with as I have confirmed with Insignia that everything is connected and running correctly on the TV end. Make sure the input settings on the TV are correct then restart both the TV and the Mini.

Wow! I think I had this same issue just last night.
I was cleaning my macbook pro retina on the outside. Then I opened it up and was wiping dust off the monitor and I can't pinpoint exactly when, but the colors changed suddenly. It looked super strange, it was like green halo's and it looked worse when looking at it at an angle. Of course I took no pictures!!! I was freaking out that my 2 grand laptop was busted and I somehow removed a protective film or something.
But I digress... The image looked very green and spacey, it was almost a neat effect. After about 5 minutes it started to look a little more digital though. There were straight lines of this halo effect on the edges and top. After about 10 minutes it turned into a predominate issue with the blacks on screen. I could open a web browser and it was unnoticable on a white background. After about 15 minutes, you could only barely see the green cloud effect if you looked at the monitor from an extreme angle. After about 20 minutes, it was completely back to normal, I almost feel paranoid like I see a halo or something strange. But I believe that might be all in my head now.
So yerp, lemme know what you guys figure out.

I tried using a DAQ Assistant but the CAN port is not included as one of the supported physical channels even though all its drivers are upto date.

Can I get my dock to appear on the extended screen display?

I would like to have my dock appear on my extended screen display and my lap top screen. Is this possible?
The thing that is frusterating is when I click on my dock, i have to drag everything that it pulls up onto the extended screen. I would much rather just click on the dock and have it appear on my extended screen without me having to drag it over. If I cant have my dock on both screens, is there a way that I can make my external display be the primary display and my mb pro be the secondary display?

If you want the dock on the side, rather than the bottom, you can have it on the right hand side of the right hand monitor, or the left hand side of the left hand monitor. One option, I guess would be to reconfigure things with the 24" as the primary screen, but to the left of the MBP, if you want the dock on the left. Probably not what you want for other reasons, but at least it would get the dock where you want it.
Another option might be to try the third party shareware application "Dock-it" , which allows you to create your own configurable "docks" in various locations. THis actually allows you to choose which monitor you want to locate any particular dock on, and allows placement on the sides of either or both. see http://www.gideonsoftworks.com/dockit.html
I'd been thinking about suggesting this app to Brett, too, but couldn't find the link at the time. I've been playing with it a bit since , and it certainly has some useful possibilities. The docks it creates are a little less intuitive than the Apple one, and a bit fussier to add things to, though.
