Monitor Screen Resolution

I want to upgrade to a 24" monitor that uses 1920 X 1080 resolution, but I do not see that in the choice list in the Display preferences.  Where do I get a display driver to add that resolution?

Yes they will. The monitor needs to have a DVI connector on the back of it.  Below is a picture of what the connector looks like.

  • EHP1 Upgarde Monitor screen resolution problem in a support message

    Hi Experts,
We have recently upgraded our Solution manager to EHP1, iam facing a screen resolution problem with 15 inch monitors.
Our key users have 15 inch monitors to their system and when they try to reply a support message under transaction data-> Overview tab -> reply it is showing only one line for them , due to which they are unable to enter the complete data in it.
How ever We have found that this does not occur with 17 inc monitors as the required screen resoution 1280* 1024 is possible due to bigger size of the monitor.
can any one suggest how to make the overview tab visible completely with small resolution monitors.
    Thanks

  • Correcting external monitor screen resolution

I have a 27" iMac and have connected a Philips 160e as a pallette monitor via a Mini Display Port to VGA adaptor.
The iMac sees it but auto picks the wrong resolution 1280 x 1024 (stretched) instead of the Philips' 1366 x 768 @ 60Hz.
If I try to change the resolution the screen goes black which is symptomatic of using the wrong refresh rate, and of course I can make no further adjustments.
esc does not get me out of the black screen.
What is worse the iMac seems to remember the wrong resolution/refresh rate after restarts.
I have tried Safe Mode (it stayed black) and booting off an external hard drive into another system (back into black if I change the display settings).
Any way out of this loop?
I have gone into System Preferences > Display > Color >unchecked 'Show profiles for this display only' > selected > Philips 160E in the list
It only contains .icc profile information, which I suppose is to be expected but is the only access I can find to any specific model data.
The same display works fine with an older 24" iMac, using a different adaptor because of the different display port.
Somewhere OSX is storing the settings for the external monitor, I'd love to be able to trash it or change it back.

Yes but that doesn't seem to be the problem.
OSX is aware of the display, even its size.
It is available in Display > Arrangement and if I double click on the arrangement of the 2nd display I see the red highlight on the edge of my main screen.
I have managed to make the Philips display visible again by checking Show displays in menu bar and then changing its resolution back on the menu bar menu to 1024 x 768 @ 72 Hz, which is a wacky set and looks really stretched.
I have been considering getting a 24" Asus as a 2nd display but this is putting me off the idea.
Thunderbolt is just a non-conformist very expensive format that does nothing for the regular user a year after it came out. It costs extra for yet more adaptors which just add another complication to connecting peripherals.
Some days I just wished Apple would not find more sticks to poke between my legs when I am trying to get somewhere.

  • Windows 8 on boot camp on MacBook Pro retina w/external monitors = screen resolution not correct

how do i calibrate external monitors resolutions individually in windows 8 (like can be done in OS X) so that my MacBook Pro retina text isn't teeny tiny and my external monitors look normal? Is there a way to set the resolution and text size for each monitor separate from one another in Windows 8? Thanks for the help.

In Windows 8 use the help menu and search for external display.

  • Screen Resolution for ALL monitors

IN FLASH MX, I set my screen resolution to 760px (width) x
560px (height). My monitor screen resolution is 1152x864. It looks
fine at that monitor screen resolution. HOWEVER, the website looks
h-u-g-e on monitor screen resolution 1024x768. It looks elongated
    on monitor screen resolution 1280x768.
So I am wondering what is the best screen resolution to set
when in Flash? that will look good on all monitor screen
    resolutions?
    [email protected]

I have four files that show my settings plus another file
that shows the code that comes automatically. Not sure how to
attach the files with this reply.
My monitor setting is 1152x864. My movie setting is 760x560.
I am not sure what you mean by embedding in HTML. I thought
    that came automatically.
My movie might be 760x560 but on a monitor screen 1024x768,
my site is huge because the screen is smaller. And on a monitor
screen 1280x768, my site becomes elongated.
I am working solely in Flash, no Dreamweaver. I thought the
    target to HTML is automatic.
I need to solve the situation of being huge on 1024x768 and
the situation of becoming elongated on 1280x768.

  • External screen resolution "defaults" to low-rez (T510, docked; Samsung SyncMaster 730b monitor)

I have a T510 Thinkpad with docking station (Windows XP) with Samsung SyncMaster 730b monitor. Every time I start up, it defaults to low resolution and I need to manually increase the screen resolution. Is there a way to make the default setting for the external monitor is high-resolution?
    Thanks!

    hey ct-user,
it is hard to say if this is caused by the external monitor or by the docking station.
try having the the external monitor connected to the T510 and see if it "saves" the resolution that was previously set.
also, test the external monitor on a different laptop and see if the same issue occurs.

  • Connecting Samsung 913n monitor to ibook -screen resolution?

    Hi,
I've bought a new monitor - Samsung 913n - and want to connect it to my ibook. No joy so far!
I have the adaptor and there seems to be a link between them, as the monitor says I've lost the signal when I unplug the adaptor.
One possibility seems to be that there is not an option for the correct screen resolution when I go to the Display preferences. The monitor is 1280 x 1024, but I only have three options which are all smaller than this.
I have reinstalled my system software but no luck.
    Any help appreciated!

Hi, Nikki. Welcome to Apple Discussions.
You are stuck with the screen resolution of the iBook. There is no way to increase it. Sorry.

  • Qosmio G20: How to get higher screen resolution on external 22" monitor

I have a Qosmio G20 and today I bought a Samsung 226BW external screen. The Samsung has a max/optimal resolution of 1680x1050px. The Toshiba manual sais the laptop supports an external screen resolution up to 2048x1536 ...
I have now tried all kinds of settings, but the highest resolution I get on the external monitor is 1440x900 (- same as the laptop).
1440x900 on the 22" screen is not enough for serious picture editing; it simply looks unsharp.
What am I doing wrong? I deeply appreciate any answers/feedback; because if 1440x900 is all I can get, I have to take the xternal monitor back to the store ...
if anyone is so kind !?
    Espen.

    Hi
The available screen resolution depends on the graphic driver. You cannot choose the favorite resolution of 1680x1050 because the graphic card driver doesnt support it.
Maybe a graphic driver update could helps.
By the way; a inf file should be supplied by the monitor manufacture. You can install such file making right click and choosing install.

  • Mac mini and LG monitor: screen is stretched and resolution is awful. Can someone help me fix this please?

I have a Mac mini (bought in 2013) and the LG 20EN33 screen. I tried filing with the monitor's settings as well as the ones in display but the screen is stretched and the font is quite big. I saw a thread about Switch Res X so downloaded the app, but have no idea where to start to use it to correct issue. can someone help me please?

    You monitor is
    1600 x 900
    and only have VGA input
    http://www.lg.com/africa_en/monitors/lg-20EN33/technical-specifications
With Switch-X you want to change the resolution to match your monitor's resolution.
You have an old monitor and it may be best to get a new one that support the the now standard 1080p (1920X1080) resolution.
I have not ideal how Switch-X works since I use the free version of Display Menu fro the Mac App Store

  • Mac mini screen resolution not synced with monitor

Hello! I have a Mac mini at home, equipped to an hp w2408h monitor via HDMI cable. Recently, I went to my friends' house with my Mac, plugging it in to their projector and playing Minecraft. However, I had to adjust the screen resolution, and once I got back and set everything up again, the monitor said I need to 'adjust screen resolution'. Is there any way to reset/sync/calibrate the resolution to the monitor, or do I have to go back and readjust the settings? Thanks! :3

  • Screen resolution of 2nd monitor

    Dear all,
i am working on an application which uses 2 monitors.
i have a VI which measures the screen resolution of the screen.
i want to know the screen resolution of the 2nd monitor.
how can i get that ?
    thanks,
    ritesh
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

You could use an app property node, set to display -> AllMonitors. Index this with an array and unbundle the result. This will give info on the bounds of the screen. By subtracting left from right and top from bottom,. you can get the size of the screen.

  • Screen resolution exteral monitor for philips 22PFL4505D/F7 monitor

what do i need for the screen resolution exteral monitor - philips 22PFL4505D/F7 monitor
    on a macbook
    thank you!
it works - it is just not clear

The 13.3" screen on the MacBook running at 1280 x 800 will have a ppi (pixels per inch) of around 113. A 22" monitor running 1680 x 1050 will have a ppi of around 90. So it is natural that it will look magnified compared with the MacBook. The two displays have different a pixel pitch.
Since there are no monitors with ~113 ppi out there in the market, what you want to do with having the same size and sharpness between the MB and a monitor will not be possible.
If you ran the MB's screen at 1024 x 640 (not even sure if that is an available choice), then the two screens would match in terms of "magnification." But the MB isn't going to look very sharp running such a low, non-native format.

  • Auto-Detect Screen Resolution Does Not Work Across Multiple Monitors With Different Resolutions

    Hi,
The Acrobat Pro DC (15.007.20033.2203) auto-detect screen resolution feature does not work with multiple monitors at different resolutions.  Acrobat looks fine on my hidpi primary laptop display (Razr 14" 2014) but is completely unusable if I drag or extend the application to a standard HD resolution secondary monitor. Dragging Acrobat from my primary desktop display to the secondary display causes the UI elements to become 2x as large as they should be and makes Acrobat unusable.
Is there a way to make Acrobat auto-detect the display that it is currently on?
    Thanks!
    -Donald

To prevent it from happing again, you can
    1. go to the Mouse preference and turn off the scroll zoom feature.
    2. go to the Universal Access preference and disable the zoom features.

  • Screen resolution with 2 monitors

I have an MIS G4MX460-VTP video card instaled on Windows 2000 and two monitors connected to the card. I would like to know how to ajust the screen resolution on each monitor seperately. Presently, when I am openning the display properties of Windows I am seeing only one monitor even if the two monitors are connected. Thanks for your help.

    I have a g-force 4200 128 meg card.
Windows 2000. I have a 21" and a 17" monitor and it spreads the entire desktop across 2 monitors but the resolution stays the same on both. Obviously a 17 to a 21, either the 17 wont carry the resolution i want for the 21 and shut down or everything is very large on the 21.
I also cant get it to behave correctly with monitor placement. My 17 is on the left and 21 on the right , but no matter what i do, software settings or physically switching the vga ports it treats the 17 as if it was on the right. these issues are regardless which is set as the primary or secondary, and my 17 is never listed by name anywhere as the 21 is . it seems to be considering that i have to have the same size and type monitor.  :O

  • Help please? problems with screen resolution & external monitor

had a look around this forum and seen many questions about screen resolution when connecting to an external monitor but unfortunately, non that help me answer my problem.
got a brand new macbook a few months ago and today bought a HP v220 22" external monitor.
I am new to the idea of external monitors and am unsure what i am doing wrong settings-wise. it seems that no matter what resolution i set either my macbook display, or the external monitor display to. the external monitor is still not sharp.
Im not sure how to explain what i need but basically i need it to be so that things appear on the external the same size as they do on my macbook screen, so that i will have more space to work in on my external monitor (i am a graphics student) but at the moment what appears on the monitor is lieterally just a magnified version of my macbook screen, hence it lacks clarity.
the highest resolution offered in the menu for my macbook screen is 1280x800 and my external is recommended to be set at 1680x1050.
what settings should i have to get the resolution right?
i will be so so grateful if you can help. i think ive tried every single display setting but to no avail. so please help me!
