Error message - on monitor, no VGA input

I've looked on the internet and it seems like I'm not the only HP user to encounter this problem. Any way in solving this problem?

Do u know what monitor this system is tied to for the screen message?
not sure if the monitor is VGA only, or the system is VGA only…
If the monitor shows an error message it means the monitor is basically working. You can try the same monitor on another computer, or try another monitor on the same computer. If you have something else available.
Troubleshooting No Video or No Signal Detected is probably the most difficult thing if you are not sure if either the PC or Monitor are good.

  • Macbook Pro mini-DisplayPort to VGA input on a VIZIO SV422XVT

I am attempting to use my Vizio SV422XVT with my MacBook Pro via the VGA input. I've followed KatanaBook's advice in this post, but I still can't get it to function correctly.
    http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=12380071#12380071
I've created a custom resolution using SwitchResX with the parameters specified in the SV422XVT manual, but I still get a 'no signal' response on the TV.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thank you.

ARiccitelli, have you tried running the [Apple Mini DisplayPort to VGA Adapter firmware update|http://support.apple.com/downloads/Mini_DisplayPort_to_VGA_FirmwareUpdate] to ensure that your adapter has the latest firmware revision?
I don’t have a Vizio monitor, so I can’t offer any advice regarding it; is your adapter known to work with other VGA-compatible monitors at your preferred color depth, resolution, and refresh rate?

  • IPad 2 + AV Adaptor + older TV with VGA input. Can I mirror?

I have an iPad 2 (iOS 5.1), the Apple AV Adaptor and an older tv with VGA input.
    Option A
Can I mirror to the tv using a HDMI to VGA cable - something like this or this ?
    Would this work?
    Option B
Or do I totally ignore the AV Adaptor and buy the Apple VGA Adaptor and a VGA cable?
Then do I also need a cable for sound? What do you call it?
Has anyone used Option A and has it worked?
I would obviously prefer Option A as I already have the AV Adaptor.

The two cables you linked to are both passive and are only meant for PC cards with digital(!) signal output on VGA. That is, in your case, they won't work.
The easiest and cheapest way is purchasing the VGA adaptor. HOWEVER, it won't let you 1, charge your iPad while playback, 2, play back DRM'ed movies (ones that you purchased from iTunes Store).
If you want to stick with HDMI (see the two problems above), you'll want to go for an active HDMI -> VGA converter. I've purchased the one at http://www.dealextreme.com/p/hdmi-to-vga-video-converter-71816 and found it, for the price, excellent. If you don't want a converter with a power cord, let me know and I list other (but more expensive) converters.

  • MacBookPro DVI output to Monitor DVI-D input

Where can I find a compatible cable that will let me connect my MacBookPro (early 2008) to my ViewSonic VX2025 DVI-D input.
I have spoken to the Apple store staff, and the AppleCare support team, and neither departments could come up with a solution, or answer.
Please can somone point me in the right direction? I am sure one person out there has come across this issue before.
    PS:
Before suggesting I use the VGA input on the monitor; this is in use by my Xbox 360 (which will not work using a VGA-DVI adapter).
Many thanks in advance for anyone who is able to help.
My email adress is not working so if anyone woulf like to get me via email, please send to [email protected]

You need the Apple Mini-DVI to DVI-D adapter, and a male-to-male DVI-D cable like one of these:

  • How do I connect my Mac Mini (DVI) to a monitor (VGA) and 2 TV's (HDMI)?  What equipment do I need?

I have an older Mac Mini with a DVI out.  Right now using a monitor with VGA in, and since my Mini came with the adapter, all is good.  However, I'm trying to use this setup to also connect 2 50" TV's that have HDMI's.  What would be the proper setup in order to run the mini and the monitor along with the TV's?  Thanks!

You need USB to video adopters. See:

  • Connecting my Mac Mini DVI video output to Dell W3706MC LCD TV VGA Input

I tried connecting my mac mini to the Dell W3706MC LCD TV VGA input but it wanted me to change the resolution of the mac to 1360 x 768 at 60 Hz. I did that but it still would not display the video. I tried my PC laptop and that worked fine with different resolutions. So I know that there is nothing wrong with the TV. Did anyone experience this same problem?
    Any help would be great.
    Thanks,
    Karl

I'm confused about your comment "it wanted me to change the resolution of the mac to 1360 x 768 at 60 Hz." I presume the way this was communicated was through a dialog box, correct? But if you could see a dialog box, that means you had a working screen at one point, correct? Why don't you just run at that resolution?

  • What is the best way to connect my new MBP to monitor - DVI, VGA or HDMI

What is the best way to connect my new MBP to a computer monitor?  DVI, VGA or HDMI?  Thanks

I recommend the Apple MiniDisplay Port to DVI adaptor.  I would avoid VGA.  MiniDisplay Port to HDMI will work as well (3rd party).

  • VGA Input error

    Hello,
I had a picture fall on the top of my tower. Now I am receiving an error from my monitor saying no signal from the VGA port. I have plugged the tower into anot her monitor using the DVI port and I received the same error. The green LED by the power supply is solid and the fan is running. The LED by the ram cards is also solid. The start-up sounds initiate when you hit the power switch. The power switch's blue led light does not come on. I am assuming the video card or motherboard is damaged. Does anyone have experience with this problem so I can get a start of were to troubleshoot this.

The one you are looking at I believe is an older model and does not have very good reviews for working with an AppleTV2 / iPad 2 setup.
Here is the one that has worked for our district:
    http://www.amazon.com/ViewHD-Component-Converter-Support-Surround/dp/B004F9XVBC/ ref=pd_cp_e_2
I can't say if the one you are referring two works or not, however I can say that based on the reviews, it looks like you may run into problems with the $45 version.

  • My monitor is vga computer is nci, with an nci-vga connector attached(c00035) and then a vga-vga ca

vga-vga cable between.   Monitor signals "No signal" and "Check your connection"
I have pretty much ruled out cable or monitor error because I have tried different connections with 2 cables and 2 monitors.  Both of these were connected to my A1223 (Which the 2133w is to replace) and they all worked perfectly.
This computer is to replace my A1223w. (Which I maxxed out.)
What is my problem or where have I goofed?  Remember, I have no monitor output so I can not interact with my unit.
Thanks for whatever help you may have to offer.

    Is this your pc?
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c03183981&cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en&product=5192567
Then you have a dvi-d output at the pc.
Dvi-d is digital, your vga monitor is analog.
You can't use a simple connector fron digital to analog, you would need a converter.
    Other adapters work from vga2dvi-a (=analog) or vga2dvi-i (analog+digital). A vga2dvi-d can't work ....
You'll need a monitor with dvi input which understand digital signals or a graphics card which offers analog signals too.

  • Mini DVI to VGA or Mini DVI to HDMI, Which is better?

    hello;
so i received 2 new TV's, and both have a VGA input (with a computer audio input(3.5mm)), and both have an HDMI. I'm working with an iMac which was purchased from apple in late 2007.
so, my question is: which would be better? would one have a better video over another? what about re-useability with other displays? which TV's seem to have more of which kind of input?
Also, i plan on getting a macbook pro sometime in the summer of 2011, does anybody know what my options would be, if i could still get an adapter for both HDMI and VGA?
I really appreciate the help anyone has to offer.
    have a great day;
    your friend in Apple,
    George Valentine.

Hello and Welcome to Apple Discussions.
My experience is that just about every TV on the market today has both VGA and HDMI, the latter being significantly better quality. Projectors/PC displays tend to lean towards having VGA and DVI ports but some do have HDMI. The only reason I'd recommend VGA is wider compatibility if you're delivering presentations elsewhere or similar.
The Late 2007 iMac has a MiniDVI port which using Apple's adaptor can be adapted to VGA or DVI, or using a third party adaptor, MiniDVI to HDMI. HDMI in the context of TVs and set-top boxes carries audio and video but will not in this case. You'll need to carry the audio from the iMac separately.

The current MacBook Pros/iMacs (I make no assertions about future ones!) have Mini DisplayPorts that route both audio and video:

  • Satellite P100: Can I connect two external monitor to VGA & DVI port at the same time?

The Satellite P100 comes with two external monitor port. A VGA and a DVI. Can you have have two external monitor working at the same time? Can you have two external monitor as well as your internal display working at the same time (for a total of 3 display at the same time?
Here is what I have confirm:
Internal display + DVI connector display
    OR
Internal display + VGA connector display
    Is it possible to have:
DVI connector display + VGA connector display?
    OR
DVI connector display + VGA connector display + Internal display?

As far as I know this is not possible and you can use either DVI or VGA port.
For signal output can be used only one port for external display.
