Monitor the consumption of bandwidth
Hi,
I Need help to choose the best solution to monitor the consumption of bandwidth, particularly who are consuming the bandwidth. With the SNMP protocol I can know the consumption of bandwidth but I can't know who are consuming. What are the alternatives?
Thanks to all
If the L3 3750 switch is the gateway for your hosts, it's not very easy to capture flow-level data. Netflow is generally only supported on routers and high end switches like the Catalyst 6k. (Though there is a feature module for the newer 3750X's).
For an ad hoc look at the data, one could span a port and parse the data in a protocol analyzer. That's generally overkill for a simple look at flow patterns though. RMON probes are also possible thought they have generally fallen into disuse in recent years.
Do you really want to look at LOCAL bandwidth consumption (i.e., among ports on a LAN switch)? Folks seldom do that at any level of granularity except in troubleshooting specific problems since LAN bandwidth typically exceeds WAN by an order of magnitude or more and is generally over-provisioned. It's usually much easier to just watch, say, switch uplink utilization in the aggregate and add additional ones (or move servers around logically) if utilization becomes an issue.
Seeing the overall architecture and components of your system would allow us to give a better assessment.

Monitor the traffic/bandwidth of local computers ?
Hi everyone,
What is the software/script to monitor the traffic/bandwidth of the local users ?
I'm currently has Xserve as like a DHCP/gateway, and there are about 20 computers connects through Xserve. I'd like to monitor the local computers to see their bandwidth but not sure what script/software need to be installed on Xserve. All my local computers have ip 10.10.x.x.
I installed darkstat but it doesn't show me the specific ip address that taking how much bandwidth (like download/upload speed..).
ThanksTake a look at Intermapper <http://dartware.com/>, Lithium <http://lithiumcorp.com/> and Zenoss <http://www.zenoss.com/>. They should be able to do what you want. Hope that helps.

Hi
I am looking for a solution to the consumption
of the VM systems in Azure Portal that reports and notified me by mail.
Please suggest.
Thanks, KkHi Kk,
what notifications are you expecting? like Machine down etc.?
you can make use of monitoring alerts and notifications in Azure, this will allow you to configure different
metric related to your virtual machines and other azure service you use.
Specifically for VMs you can configure different metric for the VM host OS and you can also configure web end point status metric (will monitor situation like machine down or offline)
here are two good reads

HELP Make Settings for Units of Measurement for Monitoring of Consumption
Hello All:
I just cant' define an unit of measure to stablish consumption calculation. I know how to make all the other settings, but I just can't stablish the unit of measure to use in there.
Could please somebody gime this explanation ? Step by step ?
I've read that are preconfigured units of measure for examplo MPG miles per gallon US but I will use Kilometers per litre.
I want to know how to create this unit
how to link it with an existing SI group
So I can use it in the step Make Settings for Units of Measurement for Monitoring of Consumption
thanks in advance
Luis HenriqueDear Luis,
Please use CUNI t code for creating unit of measurement. Please follow any exist Unit of measurement and replicate the same. This is a configuration so will have transport requirement

Monitor power consumption on non POE device using LMS 4.1 ?
How do i monitor power consumption of our endpoint device such as IBM server, UCS server, PC , etc which isn't powered by POE ?
I'm way to lazy to read all this stuff (that's my nature) but I tried a few things with an IP phone and an access point because a customer was interested.
TAC said to forget about the access point, LMS will only manage the IP phone.
Do you see these endpoint devices in LMS anywhere? I asume you managed to get the agent software and put them on these devices.
In theory they should then get 'discovered' as endpoints. Not sure how LMS would be able to do that though. Unless the endpoint agent knows about LMS and starts talking I don't see how it could work.
Anyway, the theory is that in LMS you have a group of endpoints in an endpoint group. Then you should be able to configure endpoint attributes.... , and then you should be able to create a policy and apply it to that group. But I think the policies you can create in LMS now, are for IP phones only.
You should also be able the generate power reports on an endpoint group. Provided you are able to discover these endpoints.
Do let us know how you are getting on with this though. Energywise is interesting but the current implementation in LMS may be a bit too minimalistic. (please prove me wrong)

We have purchased 5 apple minis and would like them all on one account, that way we can monitor the use of these units. They will be used strickly for a business application. Can I use one account in itunes or must i have multiple.
Not going to happen the way you want it to.
When you add a gift card balance to the Apple ID, it's available for the Apple ID.
Probably best to create unique Apple ID's for each... this will also make things easier in the future as purchases are eternally tied to the Apple ID they were purchased with. -
Why is it that when I plug my Macbook Pro to an external monitor, the external monitor turns black and shows the mouse only
Hi, yes preferences sees there is a second display it recognises what make of monitor it is etc but I just get a blank blue screen on the monitor when I change it to the hdmi setting! I have tried with mirroring on and off, rearranging the displays in the preference window and lots of different resolution settings but with no difference.
An old MacBook connects fine so the monitor and hdmi port must be okay. I'm sure we have used the cable before but it could have been with the previous MacBook Air. The current one I'm using is a mid 2011 version running lion and is (according to software update) all up to date.
Any thoughts or help would be appreciated! -

How to install the windows7 agent and monitor the same machine
Hi ,
I have installed OMS on Oracle Linux 5.7-64 bit machine. Now I am able monitor the OIM which is installed on Linux. I have some of oracle applications (domains) on windows7 machine. I want monitor the same. On em, agent deployment page I am not able to see the windows agents.
Can you please guide me how to install the agent on windows and monitor the same?
OEM version: 11.1.0.1
Thanks in advance
Regards,
Kishore TummetiIf you just need to install some agents on Windows the best (imho) option is not to use the push option because getting Cygwin to run can take hours (if at all).
Here you find a good instruction how to install the agent by hand: http://www.peasland.net/?p=122
Sometimes the –silent mentioned in step 4b needs not to be put as second argument but as last argument.

Hello folks,
i am discovering the wide world of adobe technologies and i am impressed how seamless all is working.
Anyway i have a tricky problem, at least it seems tricky to me. Here we go: i build up a client (camera+audio conferencing) streaming its camera right to my server (red5). Every client can see the camera streams of each connected particpant. So far so good all is working as expected, we can call this a conferencing solution. Now i would like to improve that by implementing some kind of automatic bandwidth detection in order to adjust the video resolution depending on the current bandwidth "situation" of every participant. Some might have stronger upload bandwidth, some might have a bad or even too low upload bandwidth to even up-stream their video. My client should be able to handle them individually. Those clients who have a good upload bandwidth should be able to up-stream their video in the most high resolution as possible regarding their bandwidth. For those clients having a bad upload connection i assume to reduce their video resolution automatically. The aim behind this automatic bandwidth detection should be to give the most priority to the audio streaming by taking care to not overhelming the bandwidth with heavy camera usage.
I know there is upload speed tests (onBWCheck, etc), but i assume this test is annoying for the participants as well as they are not reflecting dynamic changes.
So lets say i start with a default camera resolution of 640 x 480 px for every client. What i need to know is in general two informtion in order to judge about the current bandwidth is enough for the currently up-streamed camera video:
1) the actual bandwidth used for the up-streaming camera video (based on specific resolution, quality and fps) which is of course dynamicly changing
2) the max. needed bandwidth which is necessary to perfectly up-stream the camera video regarding the specific resolution, quality and fps of the camera settings
So here is my current solutions:
1) the actual bandwidth: every second the currentBytesPerSecond() method of the NetStreamInfo object is of my uploading stream is called to get the currently used bandwidth speed (http://help.adobe.com/en_US/FlashPlatform/reference/actionscript/3/flash/net/NetStreamInfo .html#currentBytesPerSecond). The documentation says about the currentBytesPerSecond() method: Specifies the rate at which the NetStream buffer is filled in bytes per second. I understood from that phrase that literally this is the amount of bytes filled into the network depending on the current network situation. I tested this by using bandwidth limitation and in fact the currentBytesPerSecond() returns the dynamicly changed amount of bytes sent through the network. So thats pretty OK.
2) the max. needed bandwidth: here i struggle. I have three principal ideas to know how much bytes/second are max. needed to up-stream the camera video to the server in a proper way:
* either by experience, which means i manually make several tests to know the max. bytes/second needed for every possible specific resolution, quality, fps (i discovered that different cameras can even produce different results with the same camera settings!)
* calculate the needed bytes/second (actually i use the H246 codec)
* or finally the most crazy but maybe most proper solution: beside the up-stream to the server the client streams additionally to the same client application over the localhost network. I find this last attempt the most interesting because it gives very practicaly accurate result how much bytes must be send because almost the bandwidth of the network through the internet isnt used either. The client sends a stream to himself over the internal network IP (localhost, 127.0.0.1). To achieve this i tried to let the NetConnection being connected to localhost and null and publish the video. But the stream didnt worked. Here is my code:
private function init():void {
nc = new NetConnection();
nc.addEventListener(NetStatusEvent.NET_STATUS, netStatusHandler);
nc.connect(null);
ns = new NetStream(nc);
ns.addEventListener(NetStatusEvent.NET_STATUS, netStatusHandler);
ns.client = {};
var camera:Camera = Camera.getCamera();
if (camera) {
videoDisplay.attachCamera(camera);
} else {
Alert.show("You don't seem to have a camera.");
ns.attachCamera(camera);
ns.publish("streamname");
mainTimer.addEventListener (TimerEvent.TIMER, onMainTimerTickHandler);
mainTimer.start();
private function onMainTimerTickHandler (evt:TimerEvent): void
info.text += Number(ns.info.currentBytesPerSecond / 1000).toFixed(2) + " kBytes (OUT)\n";
private function netStatusHandler(event:NetStatusEvent):void {
info.text += event.info.code+"\n";
The result is a connection success, but the stream didnt send any data due to the fact that ns.info.currentBytesPerSecond returns 0. Also strange is that the NetSteam or NetConnection didn't return any error.
So folks here i struggle and i ask does anyone out there have any hints or ideas how to solve this tricky one?
Thanks in advance,
MarkusThanks,I have read that article. Based on that article the NetStreamInfo.maxBytesPerSecond is not an accurate measurement to base dynamic switching on. This seems to be the basis of the bitrate switching in both the longtail player, and the adobe examples that I have tried. That article suggests using the dropped frames property, in conjunciton with bufferlength to determine if switching is neccessary. Unfortunately I can't seem to find a player online which handles this successfully. That being said, I can't believe I'm the only person trying to implement dynamic bitrate switching for live streams so surely there are some players out there which can do this successfully? If anyone knows of any code available which does this successfully I would appreciate knowing where! The examples provided by Adobe https://www.adobe.com/cfusion/entitlement/index.cfm?e=fms35 unfortunately don't work either.

Monitor the end of a deployment via NalWin.exe
Hi,
For automation purposes, I need to know when the deployment of a package is finished.
This is the command I use in a batch script/cmd :
Code:
start "Nalwin" "C:\Program files\novell\zenworks\nalwin.exe" : /A=MyApplicationJob.App.XP.Install.Nal.Zen.COMP
I just need a way to know when the package is finished to deploy. Monitoring the process "nalwin.exe" is not really an option because there can be other nalwin processes in the background.
Another way would be to make nalwin run in foreground in the cmd, but I did not found any option for that.
Thks.This should be asked in a ZDM7 forums such as:
novell.support.zenworks.desktop-management.7x.applications
This forum is for the ZCM version of AdminStudio, though admittedly the
title makes that less than clear.

Monitor the end of a deployment of a bundle via NalWin
Hi,
For automation purposes, I need to know when the deployment of a package is finished.

I tried do monitor the RegSet* operations but no luck, the last RegSet is on "HKCU\Software\Novell\ZENworks\NALExplorer\ViewsSh owing" set to "0", just before the launch of the MSI package.
I tried to enable debug mode :
Code:
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\NetWare\NAL\1.0\Debug]
"Level"=dword:0000000f
"LogFileLocation"="C:\\ZFDNAL.CSV"
"Browser"=dword:00000001
"Explorer"=dword:00000001
"Reporting"=dword:00000001
But I don't see anything useful for what I need in the log (a line that indicates the successful end of the job) :

Is there any report to see the consumption details?
Hi,
Is there any report to see the consumption details? with material number or without material number?
Regards,
SattujThere are a no of ways from where you can get your desrired data....
Table mver---used for material consumption.
T code mcre---again used in consumption reports,
Table MVER gives you detail of Material Consumption
Also, MSEG (MENGE) and S026 (ENMNG) ... Pls restrict the selection condition for material with movement type 261 in table MSEG
Tables
DBERCHV Consumption History
DVER Material Consumption for MRP Area
You can get all the consumption details in MB51 report by selecting relevnt movement types. And MB5S also.
For Repetetive :-
Check this T Code MCRP,which gives you the exact material consumption datewise or order wise.
*Report MCRE is widely used for the material cosnumption than checking in COOIS.*
Also these reports can help you.
MCPF Material analysis: Dates
MCPO Material analysis: Quantities
MCPW Material analysis: Lead time -
How to monitor the values transferred to the jump query in a debug mode?
Dear experts,
There is a problem in the interface of two qeuries. In the first query, the infoobject is defined as a global filter with a constant. I added this infoobject in the interface via RSBBS.
Nevertheless, if i run the jump query, the value in this InfoObject is not taken into account by the jump query.
Does anybody know whether there is a method to debug (monitor) the values tranferred to the jump query? For example, in the transaction RSRT or others.
Thanks in advance!in RSRT- EXECUTE+DEBUG => breakpoint in RRI transpormations

In the rwb adapter monitoring the JDBC Adapter always grey
Hi all
I try to use JDBC Adapter in XI 3.0 sp14.
First I deploy the MS SqlServer JDBC by SDM RemoteGui.I can see the deployed JDBC package in \j2ee\cluster\server0\bin\ext\com.sap.aii.af.jmsproviderlib.
Then I create a communication Channel using JDBC 2.0 in a Business System and active the configuration.
But when I monitor JDBC Adapter in the rwb, I find the JDBC Adapter is always grey.In the \server0\log\services\com.sap.aii.adapter.jdbc.svc, no log shows the jdbc adapter is initial.
So what extended configuration shall i do.
Thanks in advanced
Elliotthi Alessandro,ravi:
Thanks for your reply. I will describe detail.
I use a file adapter as a sender and use a JDBC adapter as a receiver.
In the sxmb_moni I find the processed message status is successful.
So I think the integration server works fine.
In the message monitoring, the message is waiting status.
If I change the receiver adapter to file adapter.
It works fine.So I think the process config is fine and the itegration server works fine. the error is in the receiver JDBC adapter side.
I check the default trace, <b>there is error logs</b>:

In the adapter monitoring, JDBC Adapter icon is grey. I
can't click for detail information. I only deploy the
JDBC drivers by SDM remoteGui. What else shall I do.
Btw, Can you say sth detail about how to test the
deployed JDBC adapter on visual administrator?
Thanks
Elliott
