Monitor went temporarily to black and white with green tint

Last night when I turned on my computer my monitor showed only a black and white picture with an overall green tint. I restarted it, but the same. This morning, however, it is back to normal. The strange thing is that my house lights seemed to be dim, too. (I thought it was just me until I turned on my computer). Is this a sign that my monitor may be failing, or some kind of fluke?

It is, but only with a lot of compositing.
In FCP this would be doable with garbage mattes, but you'd need the 60 point one from Paul Crisp...and that wouldn't be fun.
In After Effects, you'd have to mask everyone else, and again, keyframe.
Shake might do this well, and it is on the cheap now. But it has a HUGE learning curve. And I have no doubt that even with Shake you are looking at a frame-by-frame manipulation.
Good effects aren't easy to pull off.

Black and White With Color Not Working

I am trying to have the background of my image black and white with the person in color. I turned black and white on then tried brushing black and white away from the person. Instead of the full, vibrant color coming back it was a dull color. Instead, I tried turning black and white off then brushing black and white into the background. This time, instead of being pure black and white it was black and white with an obvious hint of color. I have watched plenty of tutorials and know that it is possible to have it be pure black and white in the background with the person in front appearing in full vibrant color. I just don't know what I am doing wrong that either my vibrant color is looking washed out in one method or my black and white isn't pure black and white in the other method. When I first turn black and white on the image does go to pure black and white. Any suggestions?

See what happens after re-booting.
Is "Brush Range" set to "All"?
Try the same adjustments on another Image.
Try the "Color Monochrome" adjustment and see if it works as expected when brushed in/brushed away.

Black and White with Actionscript

In the website I'm developing I want to turn the background
image to black and white as the cursor moves toward the left side
of the screen or color when the user's cursor moves toward the
right side of the screen. Right now I have two images, color on top
and black and white on the bottom so all I'm doing is affecting the
colored image's alpha to make the black and white fade in.
Can this be done in action script? It would save on file size
because I would just need the colored image if I could turn it to
black and white with actions script. I know you can control the
filters with action script but even in the colorTransform filters I
don't see anything for the saturation.

Sorry, let me clearify. I have the mouse script and alpha
fading working already but I'm trying to find a different way to
get the same result. Using an alpha fade I need to have 2 images,
one b&w and the other in color. I want to use only one color
image and basically desaturate the image as the user moves their
cursor towards the left of the screen.

You did not mentioned your Mac OS X version, however I assume you have one of the latest versions.
The Photosmart 7150 is not supported on Mac OS X v10.6, v10.7, v10.8 or v10.9 and therefore it is more than likely that there are no drivers for your OS and the used Generic Driver only provide B&W printing.
Although it is not officially supported you may check 3rd party solutions such as the 3rd party HP-IJS print drivers which list your printer as supported.
Be sure to install any of the 3 required downloads, then click the plus sign under Printers & Scanners, click the Use drop down and click on Select Printer Software.
Search for your printer model form the list and select the driver, I believe that may work:

Although it only list up to 10.8 (Mountain Lion) it should also work on Mavericks from my experience.

Haven't seen you attached file as it takes a long time for attachments to load on this forum. Try little camera icon instead.
EASIEST way to have B&W in areas is to add Hue and Saturation adjustment layer. Use sliders to make B&W. Next paint on layer MASK, with black, to restore color in areas you want to show color.

The update does take time and 30 minutes is not unusual. Is there anything else happening on your screen such as a long bar that fills in very slowly?

Video drivers issue (dual DVI monitors off bay :: one black and white and one color)

I have tried everything to try to make these two monitors color. They are both relatively new Dell monitors. Both are DVI, both are connected to the latest Lenovo bay for my T430 laptop. Both worked fine after I initially installed both video drivers (Intel HD Graphics Driver for Windows 7 [64-bit]) and NVIDIA Optimus Display Driver for Windows 7 [64-bit]). Then out of nowhere one of them (Dell 1) decides it wants to be seen in black and white! I initially thought it was the monitor itself, but when swapping monitors (Dell 1, Dell 2) the other monitor (Dell 2) went black and white when plugged into the DVI formerly used by the Dell 1 monitor. Ok, so now it must be the DVI ports on the bay station (Lenovo) right? Nope. I had a tech bring me a second, brand new bay (identical). Same issue! So this leads me to the video drivers...
Does anyone have any idea. I disabled each driver and reenabled each to no avail. The drivers are the latest drivers downloaded directly from Lenovo's site. Checked the driver settings/monitor setting using both Windows 7 Professional and Nvidia to see if anything stood out. Nothing.
Any help would certainly be appreciated. Thank you in advance! :~)

I got a new laptop and when I plugged it into my docking station the external monitors were all in black & white. My old computer still worked fine without changing any settings on the monitors. I found that I needed to go into Control Panel \ NVidia Control Panel \ Display \ Adjust Desktop Color Settings, then select the monitor I wanted to adjust, then set the slider up for Digital Vibrance. For some reason on the new laptop the NVidia settings defaulted to 0 for this.

Black and white with a touch of colour

Hey Folks,
I need your help again please.
I need to amend a shot in my film so that most of it is in black and white and only a part of it is in colour.
This is the shot: Five guys walk into a room. The shot so far is in full colour. What I need to do it have the guy in the middle in full colour and the other guys and the rest of the shot in black and white.
I've tried Ken Stones Pleasantville look but this didn't do the trick at all. I managed to get most of the guy in the middle in black and white, but because of similar colours on the other guys part of them also went to b&w.
I hope this effect is possible.

CP1215 Can't print in black and white with low colour cartidge

I have a CP1215 that has run out of yellow, but the status reports that I can print over 1000 pages with black, but when I choose black and white, I get an error stating that I need to replace the yellow.
How do I get around this as it is very annoying!!!

Got it solved!!. Went into the HP Toolbox -> System Setup -> Cartridge Out Override -> Yes.

How do I print in black and white with HP Deskjet 5740?

I have just updated from Snow Leopard to Mountain Lion. With Snow Leopard, and an HP Deskjet 5740 printer, I could choose to print in draft or best quality, black and white only or in full colour, and had various other options. Now I am not offered these options in the print dialogue: the printer always prints in colour and I cannot choose whether to print in best or draft quality. I would be grateful for any tips on how to recover printing options. Many thanks.

1. Open your photo in Full Edit.
2. Find the smart brush, the one with the gears on it. Choose a black and white style from the thumbnails in the options bar and turn on the Inverse checkbox.
3. Drag over the flower that you want to keep in color. The rest of the photo will turn black and white.

Macbook monitor is a shaking black and white screen

My macbook monitor screen keeps going to a black and white shaking screen and the only way to get it to stop is power off and back on. Soon after I power it back on, the screen goes back to the black and white shaking screen. Any idea?

Unfortunately protected content is blocked from Airplay using Apple's DVD Player (same for playing back DRM protected video in iTunes or Quicktime, but you are better off using Home Sharing for that).
For this reason the OS does not allow the Airplay algorithm to grab the screen displaying 'protected video' - annoyingly even unportected home made DVDs will exhibit this.
Try using something like VLC Player instead.
This was such an obvious use for Airplay but the movie studios probably insisted.
