Monitor will not power down
Since the latest set of updates, my monitor will not go to sleep. Instead I get the Check HDMI screen saver on the display. Any ideas on how to fix this?
Problem solved. Slightly loose connection on the back of the tower. Once I tighten the monitor's connection, the monitor went to sleep.

iPad 3 will not power down. Also no information of any kind is displayed in settings.
Have you tried a reset ? Press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.

Will not power down when power switch depressed. Screen says shutting down, only way to turn off is to unplug?? Very long restart. Less than 3 weeks old. Thanks F101B
No, I don't think so. Do a reboot:
Rebooting your iDevice
Hold down the Sleep (On-Off) and Home buttons totether for about 10-15 seconds or until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears - then let go of the buttons. The iPad should begin to start up. -
My Ellipsis will not power down. Any suggestions?
Remove the battery. Never mind you cant remove the battery on an Ellipsis.
Jetpacks often function with E-Ink displays that do not require power to illuminate. Normally all you have to do to power down a Jetpack is press and hold the power button. The Jetpack will force itself off after about 5-10 seconds if the power button is functional. If not then the Jetpack should be sent in for servicing. -

MY ipad will not power down anymore. Each time I try to power down it shuts down then powers up again.
See if this fixes it. Reboot and let the iPad start up, then try to power down.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up. -
My IPad will not power down and stay off. It powers down and then restarts after a few seconds. Since it is on all of the time, it drains the battery between uses.
Then I think it is time to take to an Apple store to be checked. Make an appointment at your closest store. You can keep it plugged in to maintain the battery until you get it checked.

My iphone 4s recently stopped turning on. I left it alone on the charger for a few days and now will power on just fine. However I have vertical lines going across the entire screen. I also noticed that it will not power down and stay off unless it is connected to the charger. Is this a hardware problem?
Try to Reset your device.
Press and hold both the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears (ignore the Slide to Power Off option that shows up first). -
Ecr e since installing windows 10 my Aspire R7-571-6858 will not power down via the screen,
Since installing Windows 10 my Aspire R7-571-6858 will not shut down properly when using the screen prompt. The monitor will power down but the keyboard remains backlit and the power light remains on. I have to force a shut down manually via the power button.
fdrrdl,
Shutting a system down is a basic operating system function. You can attempt to perform a refresh of the unit to see if there might be some corrupt drivers or files installed.
the other alternative is to go back to Windows 8, then upgrade again. -
HT1212 what if ipod will not power down
what if ipod will not power down
Try:
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
- Restore from backup. See:
iOS: How to back up
- Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If you can't do the above then
Try:
- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- Try on another computer
- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.
