Monitor wont awake from sleep mode

I have a Pavillion H8-1130A and HP x23LED purchased March 2012.  The screen won't awake from sleep mode.  I can use the mouse successfully with my laptop.  I have tried unplugging power, switching around the DVI cables (I don't have a VGA cable to try).  Any suggestions?

I recently purchased an HP Envy 15T Laptop.   I am also having the same problem.   When set in sleep mode for more than 3 minutes or so, computer will not wake up.   Power button turns to solid, keyboard lights up, but only black screen.  The only thing I can do is remove power cord & battery and then replace.   I can then start computer.     I contacted Costco Consierge.   They took me through a sytem restore to an earlier date I had on file but problem did not correct.   I am next trying to contact HP support for assistance.

  • AIR event when computer awakes from sleep mode?

    Hi,
I have an AIR app that displays a new set of photos every 12 hours. Some users are complaining that the photos are not refreshed after 12 hours if the computer had been in sleep mode over night.
At first I thought possibly the Timer was stopping when in sleep mode so I instead modified the Timer to execute every minute and just check to see if the last refresh was at least then 12 hours ago. This still did not solve the issue.
Is there an event dispatched I can listen for to detch when the computer awakes from sleep mode? Or if any one has any other suggestions.
    Thanks,
    Ryan

Macmini 2011 on lion, goes to a blue screen on monitor when awakening from sleep mode, last 3 or 4 seconds, before desktop appears, can anyone help? Thanks

Depending on the system configuration, this may not
be unusual.  The Mini that I use for my home theater,
which is connected to a receiver then to a TV, all via
HDMI usually takes a couple seconds to come up just
the way yours does.  Same happens when I switch sources
on the receiver.  Actually, it starts with the blue screen and
will sometimes flash before the desktop comes up.
It seems that when HDMI goes dormant, there is handshaking
that needs to be re-established, at least thats my SWAG on it.
On the other hand, the Mac Mini Server that I use as a work
station and is connected to a Thunderbolt Display, wakes to desktop
in a second, maybe two.  On this combo, it just comes up to
    the desk top.
It also probably depends on what processes were active when
the Mini was put to sleep.  So it may take some time for it to get around
    to reloading the desktop.

Hi, the last few days when I'm trying to awake my computer from sleep mode I can't do it from the keyboard (as set by me). When I push the power button the computer awakes from an unexpected shutdown.

  • Laptop won't awake from sleep mode

    Toshiba PSCBLU-01L003
I've had this laptop for a few months, and rarely move it from my office desk.  When I leave it in active mode, the screen will eventually go dark and the computer will awaken when I touch the keyboard.
However, if I close the lid, or lock the screen, the computer will not awaken from sleep mode.  I get a blank screen that the only remedy is to remove the laptop from the power cord, and remove the battery to restart.
All drivers and software are up to date I keep them updated.
    Any suggestions, would be appreciated.

Then I would change that setting to something else, click Save Changes and restart the computer.  Then I would go back and change the setting back to Sleep, Save changes and restart again and see if that cures it.

  • WIFI slow to reconnect when phone awakes from sleep mode

Today, I updated my LG G3 to Android Lollipop. I have WIFI set to turn off when in sleep mode (unless device plugged in). Now when the phone comes out of sleep mode, it takes up to a minute before the WIFI connection is reestablished. With the previous version of the OS, WIFI reconnected immediately after awakening from sleep mode.
Has this problem been reported to Google? I have not found a way to report bugs directly to Google as a user.
    Thanks,
    Tim

Joel, thanks for your reply. I've followed your instructions, and the problem persists. I assume by reset, you mean reset to factory settings. No. It has been rebooted, and powered off/on several times since the OS update. I have no idea whether there are any apps that use WIFI only. How would I know what each app may require?
Since this happened immediately after the OS update, the logical conclusion is that the update caused this behavior. In my 45 years as a software engineer, I can say this is the most likely cause.
Now, here are two more observations. When I first power the LG G3 up, the WIFI connection is made immediately; before I even unlock the device. So, we know the OS is quick to establish connections upon power up. It is only when coming out of sleep mode that the WIFI connection is slow to be reestablished, taking about a minute as opposed to immediately with the prior OS version.
The second observation is that with my wife's Samsung Note 4, which was updated to lollipop several weeks ago, I do not see this delayed WIFI connection after being awakened from sleep mode. With the Note 4, the connection is reestablished immediately with lollipop as with the prior OS version.
Considering the difference in behavior between the Note 4 and the G3, I would conclude that LG made a firmware change for lollipop which is causing the delay, or LG didn't make a necessary firmware change for lollipop which is causing the delay. At this point, I would say this is an LG G3 problem. It should be easily reproduced. Under the advanced WIFI settings, the setting "Keep WI-FI on when screen is off" should be set to either "Only when plugged in" or "No".
    Thanks again for your help.

  • When my IMac awakes from sleep mode, the password login screen freezes and no cursor appears.

Hello!  When my IMac awakens from sleep mode, my log in screen is frozen (I can't type anything) and there is no cursor.
I can turn the computer off and on again and then I have an active log in screen, but if I walk away from the computer and it goes into sleep mode and i have the same problem trying to bring it back from sleep mode.
    Thoughts?

    Hey Kristogirl,
I understand that when waking from sleep mode, your iMac freezes. Try executing these two troubleshooting steps:
Intel-based Macs: Resetting the System Management Controller (SMC)
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3964
OS X Mountain Lion: Reset your computer’s PRAM
    http://support.apple.com/kb/PH11243
If neither of those help the issue, I would follow the steps in the next article, specifically the "If the issue occurs in various applications, or in Mac OS X" section:
Mac OS X: How to troubleshoot a software issue

  • Photosmart 6525 Autoconnection after Windows 8 machine awakes from sleep mode

I received a Photosmart 6525 printer a month ago and love it.  I initially had it connected to an HP Touchsmart computer and had no issues with it. I moved the printer to a new HP Omni 27 running Windows 8 this week (as well as upgrading my router to an Asus RT-N66R).  The printer is not currently attached to the Omni 27 via USB as the wireless set up tested fine and I printed various documents without issue. The computer and printer are on a power strip and arranged such that when the computer goes to sleep or is shut down, it powers down other items, one of which is the printer. When the printer was used with the Touchsmart computer (also connected wirelessly), it automatically reconnected itself to the wireless network when the Touchsmart came out of sleep mode.  I'm finding with the Omni 27, however, that when it comes out of sleep mode the printer's wireless connection light flashes and I have to manually enter the passphrase on the printer in order for it to reconnect to the network.  It does connect once I enter the passphrase.  I've tried reinstalling the printer a couple of times but it doesn't seemed to have corrected the issue.  I guess one alternative may be to move the power cord to a dedicated outlet that never powers down.  I'm not sure if anyone else has encountered this issue but would appreciate any thoughts.

I always recommend a direct connection to a wall outlet.  That should resolve the issue.  You can also turn off "Auto Off" from the front panel-->setup-->preferences.

My new A505-S6033 PSAT9U-006002 will not come back from sleep. I am using an external LCD with output soley to it. I have to use the power button to shut down and restart using "Start Windows Normally". Any help would be great. Actually now that I think about it, I am not certain if its asleep or just the 'turn off the display' in 5 mins is causing it. Either way, I tried unplugging the LCD and still nothing on the laptop display.

Jerry, not sure what I should change with the power options as I like them as-is for Balanced mode. I did confirm the external LCD [HP w19b] turns off by default in 10 mins and does come back on when I move the mouse a minute later then after 15 mins, [default sleep] time - the laptop does not go to sleep but appears to lock up or freeze, forcing me to hold the power button down to restart to get the display back. The drive indicator light stops and stays off and the cooling fan continues to run but not at a steady rate. Also the AC power light and ON/OFF light stay lit.
Also, disconnecting the external LCD allows the laptop to sleep as normal in 15 mins. and when i move the mouse it starts to wake, meaning the ON/OFF light goes from slow blinking red back to solid white but no drive activity and no display. I am running WHS connector FYI, Dropbox and Google Calendar Sync.
Reliability Reports in 7 shows the laptop did not shut down correctly when i did a forced shut down but no information is provided there. I'll have to poke around in Event Viewer. Let me know if there is a certain area I should look at.
UPDATE: I didnt think to mention what I had plugged in the 3 USB ports but removing the External Western Digital storage drive WD3200AAJ fixed the sleep/wake problem but creates the problem of needing the external drive.
After countless reboots and persistent configuration attempts I've found that moving the external hard drive to another USB port on the right side as opposed to the left side USB port fixed the problem temporarily but came right back.
Also I tried setting the USB sleep/wake/charge options 1) typical 2) alternative on the left USB, no luck.

    Disconnect everything, then
    1) Boot up from OSX DVD or CD
    2) Repair disk and repair permissions using disk utility
    3) If now possible to boot from the internal download, run the "Combo" Update, and then install the SU.
    4) if not possible then do an "archive and install" of the OS while booted from the OSX DVD/CD before checking the drive again and updating
    5) If not possible to boot from CD/DVD do a PRAM and/or PMU reset.
( … if the person concerned has an up to date backup on a bootable drive, then they should simply check the internal drive properly with DU and then clone the backup back to the internal, check the internal drive again, and then install the SU update.)

  • Shared External HDD -- Awake from Sleep mode?

Greetings and Happy New Year fellow Mac users,
I have a question for anyone who knows about sharing external drives across a network.
Currently, I have an external Macpower M9-MiniPod hooked up to my MacMini via Firewire. The computer is then hooked up to the home network via the ethernet port.
In order to share out the external HDD, I had to use Hornware's SharePoints(v3.5.4) -- this allowed my Macbook to connect to the drive via Airport wireless, providing easy access to the music and videos stored on that drive.
However, I have now noticed that when I try to connect to the drive when the MacMini has been left for a while, it comes up with an error basically saying that the drive is 'currently unavailable. I took it to mean that it was because the external HDD (and the MacMini) had gone into Sleep mode.
So my question is: how can I set up the MacMini (or external drive) to be 'awakened' when another computer is trying to access the shared drive? I used to be able to do this regularly with my PC's shared drives, even when the PC was asleep.
Thanks in advance for your responses!
      Mac OS X (10.4.8)

    Thanks for the info...
I initially tried the Wake550 program, which worked well the first time, then caused me grief subsequently. I couldn't really tell what it was doing, as it would say it was waking the computer, but then when I tried to connect to the external drive, there was still an error.
I got confused by the WakeOnLAN Perl script... no idea about how to run it or activate it. Was stumped for quite a while until I discovered that there was an easy application version on MacUpdate. Not only did it work straight out, but it also has a WIDGET version that is a simple point and click awakening!
Highly recommended. Thanks for your help nonetheless!

  • My iPad loses it's ability to connect to the internet after awaking from sleep mode. Needs to be rebooted to reconnect.

My iPad loses it's ability to reconnect to the wifi after sleep mode often times, but not always. It is very annoying because it requires a reboot to reconnect. It is running the latest iOS software update. I have also reset network settings to the factory defaults. My wifi is working fine, and all other devices in my house have no issues at all.

Well, I think I have finally come up with a solution. It seems this issue happens when it auto locks. I turned auto lock to "never" in settings, and the issue has not happened since. Seems there may be a bug in this feature???
I now use manual lock, and upon awakening the wifi is now fully working.
