Monitoring 10G Database from EM

Hi All
I am having Oracle 10G Release 2 installed on one of the server. where two databases are running.
First database, DB01 was created through Enterprise manager and second database, DB02 was created through the script.
I am able to see the database db01 through Enterprise manager as http://150.0.142.249:5500/em.
But the database which i created through script, i am not able to monitor.
Moreover I don't know on which port it is working.
Kindly help me to tell how can i view that database
Regards
Bally

Hi,
the EM in 10g is a java container (OC4J) which must be created with the emca utility.
The onme for your DB01 was created automatically with the dbca.
The container for the second db does not exist yes obviousely because it was not created, (my guess). You can double check by looking at the ports entered in $ORACLE_HOME/install/portlist.ini, if you have 5500 and 5501 as ports for EM there. If you have the two in there you must set the SID in the shell and then use emctl to start the dbconsole for the DB02. If the 5501 port is not found in portlist.ini then you must use emca (enterprise manager configuration assistant) to create it first. You have one OC4J container per DB in 10g unless you use Grid control jwith which you could manage multiple DBs.
Hope this helps for the first.

Lutz

  • Download 10g database from UK-Server

    Hi
    I am unable to download the Oracle 10g database from the UK-Server. Each time I click the download link the page just times out.
    Your help is very much appreciated.

    "Best" implies that you have criteria by which to make the decision. Can you help us understand what those criteria are for you?
    If "best" means "easiest", the answer would be to use the DataPump versions of the export and import utilities (export on the Windows machine, copy the dump file, and import). Relatively easy and straightforward. But it has a relatively long downtime requirement-- the application(s) can't be changing data from the time you start the export to the time the import finishes.
    There are many ways to reduce the downtime requirements, but they generally involve increasing the complexity of the migration. If it costs you a million dollars an hour to be down, reducing the downtime is well worth it. If you have an entire weekend of downtime and a small database, the added complexity wouldn't probably be beneficial.

  • Restore and recover Oracle 10g database from tape.

    I have a very basic question for restore and recover Oracle 10g database. Our envirnment settings are:
    Oracle 10g on Unix, daily database and archivelog backup to Vista NetBackup server. Retention policy is 2. Old backup files are copied from NetBackup server to the tape for record keeping.
    I want to restore a database to a point in time. Because our retention policy is setup to 2. The backup files I need have been copied to the tape. So I should ask SYSTEM ADMIN to copy the backup files back to NetBackup server disk or I can ask him to copy backup files to the Unix server that host my Oracle 10g database. Then I can use Rman to do restore and recover. Is this doable? I know normal procedure is to copy backup files I need back to NetBackup server disk, not directly back to database server. Please put your comments here as early as better. I do appreciate your kind help.

    Are you using catalog or nocatalog?
    If the backup information is out of retention, Catalog them again also in netbackup.
    So that you can able to restore database directly without copying those files to host.

  • Unable to connect to 10g database from developer suite 10g

    I have loaded oracle 10g on my server with OS windows 2003 and it is working fine.Now I have installed Oracle developer suite 10g on windows XP client . we have configured local listener also and its entry is found in tnsnames.ora
    My database name is mbxdata .

    Please suggest matter urgent.
    Thanks in advance

    We are having the same issue now. Was this ever resolved? We created 2 new databases and added those entries in both tnsnames on the local pc, and the tnsnames on the application server. Able to connect via sqlplus, toad, etc. but not through forms developer. We are running 10g app server, 10g developer suite, 10g databases. Any ideas?

  • Best way to transfer a 10g database from HP9000 to Linux Redhat?

    What is the best way to transfer a 10g databasse from HP9000 to Linux Redhat?

    Hi Bill,
    What is the best way to transfer a 10g databasse from HP9000 to Linux Redhat?Define "best"? There are many choices, each with their own benefits . . .
    Fastest?
    If you are on an SMP server, parallel CTAS over a databaee link can move large amnunts of tables, fast:
    http://www.dba-oracle.com/t_create_table_select_ctas.htm
    I've done 100 gig per hours . . .
    Easiest?
    If you are a beginner, data pump is good, and I have siome tips on doing it quickly:
    http://www.dba-oracle.com/oracle_tips_load_speed.htm
    Also,, make sure to check the Linux kernel settings. I query http://www.tpc.org and search for the server type . . .
    The full disclosure reports show optimal kernel settings.
    Finally, don't forget to set direct I/O in Linux:

  • Content Server 7.5.2 upgrade to use Oracle 10g database from MS SQL

    Customer is currently on Content Sever 7.5.2 (Unicode) running with a Microsoft SQL Database. They want to
    change to an Oracle database. During a new installation we would specify
    Content Server with the Unicode Option and select the oracle database option.
    We are now post installation (18 months) and the want to switch over to use an
    Oracle database.
    Can someone please provide instructions for doing this from MS SQL to
    Oracle 10gR2 (patched up to 10.2.0.4) with the Unicode option (nvarchar2
    (Unicode) vs varchar2 (non-Unicode)).
    I have submitted an SR (7517840.994) for this and they indicated I need to post a message.
    Thank you
    Steve Brault

    Hi Steve,
    I am just summarizing the requirement you are having . Correct me if I am wrong
    You have a CS 7.5.2 running on MS-SQL. You want to migrate to CS 10gR3 running on a Oracle DB ? Or is it that you want to migrate only to a new database which is oracle DB?
    For the first case what you need to do is to export all your contents through the archiver for CS 752 and all your configurations and metadata through Config Migration Utility. Then install a new CS instance running on oracle Db and import the Config Migration Bundle and then all the contents through the archiver.
    For the second case you will have to take a backup of the data on the DB and also the DDL's of the Tables that are created apart from the normal content installation. Then you will have to run these DDL's on the Oracle DB (after changing the syntax) and make sure that on both DB instances all the table structures are identical.
    Then you will have to load the data exported from MS-sql to Oracle DB. The export ca be done to a excel so that the same can be loaded on the oracle DB.
    Before this you will have make the changes in the config.cfg for the CS and that is as follows :
    #Database Variables
    JdbcDriver=oracle.jdbc.OracleDriver
    JdbcConnectionString=jdbc:oracle:thin:@ecmtest.idc.oracle.com:1521:orcl
    JdbcUser=testsr2
    JdbcPassword=NsFKKQ0iRkKzvq+iDoXSDDqY2y1EgQhmRr7J3mDyvQQ=
    JdbcPasswordEncoding=Intradoc
    DatabasePreserveCase=1
    Your config.cfg should have entries like this for Oracle DB. You will have to change the JdbcDriver,JdbcConnectionString,JdbcUser,JdbcPassword,JdbcPasswordEncoding
    JdbcPasswordEncoding need to be changed to ClearText first so that you can put the password in normal language.
    Hope this helps
    Thanks

    Hi Neha;
    I have to download *10g database* from site of oracle, but just bcz of too many options are there am not able to understand which one is the best.Neha you will make installation on which Operating system. For instance you want to make installation on linux X86(means 32 bit)
    Then go :
    Oracle Database Software Downloads
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/products/database/index.html
    You can donwload:
    Oracle Database 10g Express Edition or Oracle Database 10g Release 2 Standard Edition, Standard Edition One, and Enterprise Edition (it depends your license)
    We assume you have 10g Enterprise Edition license, then you have to go related linux link, in our example its:
    Oracle Database 10g Release 2 (10.2.0.1.0) for Linux x86
    Download it and then if you want you can upgrade your database to 10.2.0.4 wiht patch(you need metalink account for donwload patch9

  • How to manage oracle 9i databases from 11g ?

    Is there any option similar to 9i OEM's "Add Database to tree" in 11g ?
    currently I monitor 30 databases, all running 9iR2, using enterprise manager console. I had removed Oracle 9i from my system to install 11g, so is there anyway to monitor 9i database from 11g or do I have to re-install 9i into a new home ?
    My system is Windows XP and most databases are on linux.

    What, precisely, do you mean by "11g Enterprise manager console"? Are you talking about a web-based interface? Or a Java-based console application?
    If you have not done a separate OEM install, you're most likely using the database control, as web-based interface that allows you to manage a single database. You would need to install the Grid Control in order to manage multiple databases through the same interface.
    You're probably right, that's why I asked the question. Perhaps the original poster meant the "10g Enterprise Manager console". Perhaps he meant the "11g Enterprise Manager Database Control". Perhaps he meant the "11g Enterprise Manager Grid Control". Or perhaps he meant something different (i.e. SQL Developer is a console application that ships with 11g and has a variety of reporting scripts).
    The OP for the 11g installation could not have possibly made a separate OEM install, OEM is not included in 11g any more and he has not mentioned trying such intall. The OP was clear enough, so IMO there is no confusion, 30 9i databases, 1 11g database. There was not a 10g in between. I would not go so far as to say an 11g grid control, since there is no such grid control, the latest version for grid control is 10.2.0.4.0 for R2 and 10.1.0.3.0 for R1. And SQLDeveloper, yes, it is a java application included with 11g, and you can launch scripts from there, but in no way it is a managing environment the way the OP pretends.

  • Steps to export and import oracle 10g databse from AIX to AIX and LINUX

    Hi,
    I need the steps to export the oracle 10g database from AIX server to AIX server and LINUX server.
    Please give me all the steps as this is my first exort an import activity.
    thanks,

    For 10g there exist two ways to do so.
    1) Regular exp/imp.
    2) Data pump expdp/impdp.
    As this is your first export and import activity, relevant concept understanding is mandatory for you.
    Documentation Link

    Read the chapters 1,2,3 (Data pump expdp/impdp) and 19 (regular exp/imp). Good luck.

  • Oracle 10g update from 10.2.0.1 to 10.2.0.4

    Hi all,
    I like to update oracle 10g database from 10.2.0.1 to 10.2.0.4 by applying patch sets, would one please suggest me the best way.
    I am planning to do in the way explained below
    method:
    # Install new Oracle Home
    # Apply the patch to the new Home
    # Shut down the database
    # Change Oracle Home to the new location
    # Start the database
    Can you one suggest me how to do "Change Oracle Home of database to the new location" and back to older oracle_home incase if there are any issues, how to do and what changes requried to make database is run without any probs..
    Thanks in advance..

    If you do it the best way is to read and follow the docs ... not ask strangers if they agree with a small number of bullet points.
    But I disagree with your entire direction. 10gR2 goes into desupport mode at the end of this month. Why move to something that will be desupported before you get there? Why not 11.1.0.7 or 11.2.0.1?
    If you must stay with 10g for awhile at least go to 10.2.0.5.
