Whats the functional difference between dbconole and using the Grid control.

I know this may seem like a strange question, but I was wondering if I only have one instance on my server, would benefit would i gain if I installed and configured the grid control
over the dbconsole that comes with the 11gr2?
I know the Grid control can discover many databases, but what else can it do that the dbconsole cannot?

Indeed good question.
It depends on installation type you selected. But are responsible for user administration in terms of creating, deleting, updating and role assignment tasks to users and groups.
--CUA is meant for ABAP Installation. CUA is responsible for entire landscape user administration works with RFC connection talking to all ABAP systems
--UME is meant for Java installations, plus UME is responsible for handling communication between ABAP users and java users.

I have a HP DV7-4165 that has Windows 7 64 bit and features the HP simple pass identity protection using the fingertip reader. My Firefox support says " If you have the Firefox browser on your computer when your HP SimplePass Identity Protection software is installed, a Firefox extension will also be installed that enables support for use of fingerprints with the Firefox browser." Once I updated to Firefox 4 it doesn't work anymore.

I have the same problem. Hopefully, those with HP Simplepass from Egistec will have relief. Here's the email I got from their customer support:

Using the grid

Hey!
I'm going to convert my website mockup in Edge Reflow.
I'm not the biggest expert in web developement at all, so please excuse my questions.
Am I right that the following actions are just design decisions?
- using 100% of the 1280px resolution as a grid
- using only the inside 8 of instead 10 columns
- using outer gutters just for a little extra space
Or is there something I have to consider while using the grid for the web developement?

Yes, I would say that this should all be possible.
The main thing to remember is that the grid is just an aid for you to layout your page.
You can snap elements to the grid to help you align and space everything, but the elements'
positions are still in terms of %, px, etc., not directly locked to the grid.
(That is, an element isn't placed as "starting at column two, with a width of 3 columns.)
And yes, you can change the grid width, number of columns, gutter width, etc. for each breakpoint.
I'd say just start trying things out and see how it goes, and of course post more specific questions here as you run into them.

Upgrading Management Agents after upgrading the Grid Control to 10.2..0.5

I am pretty new to implementing Grid control. I have been assigned the task of upgrading the Grid control to 10.2.0.5. I successfully upgraded the GC to 10.2.0.5. Now the next task is to upgrade the Agents running on other Database nodes. I have 6 databases running on Solaris 9.0 , few of them running on RHEL 5.0 x86, a few of them on RHEL 5.0 86*64. I am looking to upgrade these agents in one shot. Is there any way I can accomplish this from Grid control. If it is the case, then do I have to download and upload the patchsets for 10.2.0.5 for various platforms into the Grid Control.
I would be very happy if you could give me valid pointers which would help me to understand and move further.

Functions: Oracle VM Manager vs. Grid Control Oracle VM Management Update

i have seen both tools .. and i have to say that some really basic functions are missing in the Oracle VM management addon for Grid Control 10.2.0.5 .. just some examples:
- Renaming virtual machines (because of the prefix syntax is not very useful)
- Adding ISOs as CD/DVD after removing them one from the profile (until now you need to know the whole path to the DVD, even if the ISO is registered in the repository)
- Renaming image files (for example the disks of the VMs .. this would be very helpful in case of cloning machines)
- List the VNC port for the running VMs
All these features are available under the VM Manager (except the renaming file part) ... do you know when this will be implemented or is the Oracle VM management update already "finished" in its functions.

How to use OEM grid control to find any database not in archivelog mode?

currently we have 130 databases, say, if I want to pick out any database currently NOT in archivelog mode, is there a quick way to find out ?
by using OEM grid control
or
some trick similar,
but really don't need to check each database manually.

Did you download and install this?
A "default" install comes with three Oracle homes, with directories db10g, oms10g and agent10g in the 'basedir'. Kinda hard to miss...
With proper environment setup, you could try
$ emctl status oms
To manage Targets (as called in EM terms), you would install a Management Agent on each host to start monitoring hosts, listeners, databases, application servers, oc4j instances, and other types of targets. You "add hosts" via addition of agents.
And one more thing , i have the oracle 817 databases
, in need to register that database into the GRID .

There are several options (version dependent of course) available for deploying agents. But you need a OMS + Repository first.
Further discussion probably belongs in the dedicated Enterprise Manager.

Try the following.
Download the IDT Audio installer on the link below and save it to your Downloads folder.

When done, open windows Control Panel, open Device Manager and open up Sound, Video and Game Controllers. Right click the IDT device and select Uninstall - you should also get a prompt to remove the current driver, tick the box to allow this and then proceed with the uninstall.
When complete, restart the notebook and let Windows fully load. Open your Downloads folder, right click on the IDT installer and select 'Run as Administrator' to start the installation. When this has completed, restart the notebook again.

S.O.: SLES 10 SP2 x86_64
Standby Database:
Single Instance
S.O.: SLES 10 SP2 x86_64
Observer:
Oracle Client Administrator 11gR1 x86_64
S.O.: SLES 10 SP2 x86_64
Reading Oracle Documentation, I found at Oracle Data Guard Documentation that I have to install the full Oracle Database 10g software kit to manage observer by Enterprise Manager.
My question is I have to install Oracle Database 10g Software to manage observer by Oracle Grid Control 11g??

Thanks a lot.May be here small confusion. I mean to say of course you have to install ORACLE_HOME(client) but no need to install/push from GRID.
You can perform installation at system level instead from GRID. Hope this clears.

Access the gridview of the grid control

It may seem a weird title, but this is exactly my problem.
I am using winforms with devexpress tool in my application. I want to access the selected row of a grid view from another form. so I used the following code:

I can't get the iCloud Contacts and Calendar folders to appear in Outlook 2010 using the iCloud Control Panel. Also the datafile share which ends in .aplzod is not created in Outlook. The Contacts and Calendar are sent to iCloud (verified on iCloud.com) but the iCloud folders are not created in Outlook in the Contacts and Calendar navigation panes.   I get a message toward the end of the sync process indicating that there was an unspecified error. I'm using the newest version of the iCloud Control Panel, the 32 bit version of Outlook 2010, Windows 7 64 bit, an iPhone 3GS, and the latest version of iTunes. Any ideas how to complete the sync process to the end?
