1. I have need to create a user to monitor in the database..on SAP.
2. They have requested for a user on the 000 client with profile S_A.ADMIN
3. they want it as a SYSTEM user
Some how i feel there is something a miss here--
a. If its a system user - ho ware they going to log in to monitor ?
b. To monitor why is an ADMIN - profile needed?
I want to hear your thoughts.

• Monitoring access ports with DFM

Hello,
I need to monitor access port for utilization and high broadcasts and errors on Catalyst switch.
I can easily change access port in device details of the switch to managed state and it detects the thresholds fine.
Problem comes when user turn off the PC. The port comes to operationally down status which appears as a critical error in DFM.
I don´t want to monitor up-down status of access ports, but I can´t find out how to turn it off.
Do you have any idea?
Thank you.

sistemas2.macae.rj.gov.br:82
That should work. I confirmed it on my server using http on port 84.
Are you sure that the server is working and you have access? When I tried the example you gave, I get access denied.

• Browser freezing up when clicking Monitor - Access Points

Is there anyone else having problems with the browser freezing up when (in Classical Mode) clicking Monitor -> Access Points? Clicking Configure -> Access Points works as it should. Sometimes the browser unfreezes after a while but no output is displayed on the page.
We're running Cisco Prime Infrastructure version 1.3 (in HA-mode if that makes a difference but the problem exists even after failing over).
I've tried Chrome, IE9 and Firefox 19.0.2 and the problem exists in all of them.

I know that my version of Firefox isn't supported but according to the list of supported browsers these are ok:
IE: 8 and 9
Firefox: 10 - 14 (everything else works in 19)
Chrome
Since two of the browsers I used to test are supported it doesn't feel like a browser-problem
I have opened a case with our supplyer who hopefully will open a TAC-case if they don't find anything by themselves. However, I thought that it might be a good idea to check if it was a known problem where the fix would show up in the next version

• How to monitor access ports to server on LMS 4.0

Hi everybody!
I would like to monitor access ports to servers in cases:
- When port to server down, alert appears in Fault Monitor panel
- Monitor when bandwidth utilization of access ports exceeds 60%.
I configured Fault Threshold on DFM>System Defined Groups>Access port Settings and Poller settings on the same group but it did not work when I shut a port to server.
Please help me!
Thanks and Best Regards

By default Fault monitor manages Trunk Ports. You can check if the interface you worked on is managed :
Monitor > Fault Settings: Setup > Fault Device Details
You can check if the port/interface shows true as managed, which you tested.

• License for Monitor Access Point

Dear Friends,
I have a 5508 controller with 200 access points . I have additional 10 access points to be used as Monitor Mode, as this will be connected to the MSSE. Question here is does the monitor access points requires licenses to configure on the controller or does IPS license of 25 AP's is enough for MSE.
I think for these 10 Monitor Access Points, we need to have licenses for the controller as well as MSE license for the access point. Am I right in this assumption?
BR,
Sid

Hi Sid,
the license on the WLC is for "joined APs" whatever is their role. So monitor mode APs count the same as other APs.

• Monitoring access to the clipboard/PrimarySelection?

// mainly a desktop problem, might also fit in the programming section, don't know, move as needed.
While writing a little password manager for myself, I stumbled about the problem how to properly enter data into forms. I use xclip to fill the clipboard (C-v), but I need a way to do this two (or more) times in a row and it should be fast and automatic.
Say, I'm on a website and need to fill out the usual login and password, then I've got these options to do it.
1. call the script, adding login to clipboard and password to primary selection (or the other way round)
2. call the script, add login to clipboard, wait time X, add password to clipboard
3. call the script multiple times, keeping track of what has been delivered at the last run
Ideally, I'd like to go with option 2), problem being, that whatever I choose for time X may be too short or too long, thus interupting the workflow. So basically I need a way to globally check, when the clipboard's contents are pasted into any application, so the script could react to it.
ie, pseudo-code
get contents
add contents[login] to clipboard
watch clipboard for access
add contents[password] to clipboard
watch clipboard for access (or wait time X in case I don't login for any reason)
overwrite clipboard
I'm using awesome, fvwm and sawfish on my systems, thus it should be a generic way to do it, ideally no hard deps on qt/gtk-stuff or the like and it doesn't need other (graphical) addons like managing multiple clipboard entries. Should work with clipboard, since not every application I use can paste from the primary selection without using the mouse, which I'd like to avoid.
So the question is, is there such a thing floating around I couldn't find, yet? Does it need to be written? Possible at all?

• Monitoring access to Office documents

You become aware that someone has had unauthorized access to confidential Mac Office Word files on your OSX 10.4.9. You are in a panic.
Is there any way to confirm whether the person has copied your Word files? (for example, could Terminal be used for this?)
Note: cmd-i tells you when last a file has been modified or opened, but copying and transferring files is not logged here.
MacBook Pro Mac OS X (10.4.9)

Hi letthedogout,
Well, there's good news and bad news. The good news is that OS X ships with one of the most advanced auditing systems in the world. Apple's CommonCriteriaTools are, aside from some relatively paranoid security advice, Apple's packaging of Sun's BSM Auditing. Of course that's a little heavy duty and there are some lighter weight approaches to security such as Tripwire or process accounting.
Did I mention that there was some bad news? All of the above security procedures have one thing in common; they are off by default. Without prior arrangement for the recording of information, the most I can suggest is to use last access time to pinpoint the time of the event and look at all events in all logs occurring at that time. You might get lucky and see a secure shell access or something like that. The /var/log/secure.log file will show you if an elevation of privileges was involved in the breach.

• Cannot access broadband usage monitor

Hi,
I've been having trouble accessing the usage monitor for the last two weeks, prior to that it was fine so I'm trying to work out what has changed. I've done a few searches on the boards but nothing has really helped. I saw some posts by Andy_N with various methods for accessing the usage monitor but all of these come up with the same message:
The usage monitor is currently undergoing maintenance. Please try again later.
At first I thought it was just exactly what it said, that the monitor was down for maintenance but now that I've not been able to access it for some days it seems obvious that the problem lies at my end or with my account. I also get another message on the 'Welcome to MyBT' page which possibly indicates an account issue:
Sorry, we are currently unable to present Manage your services information.
I've tried accessing the usage monitor from more than one browser/computer so I don't think it's a cookies issue or anything like that.
Does anyone have any suggestions or experienced anything similar or should I just give BT a call? Is there a specific phone number you can call to request your current broadband usage that I can use in the meantime?
Thanks
Paul

• Running a Sub-VI and monitoring data that is generated on a higher level VI

Hi All,
This question must been there before, but I cannot find a suitable answer here on the forums....
I have a 'top-level' VI that does a lot of things. I also have a sub VI that runs a frequency sweep on a piece of equipment. This is done with a for loop.
Problem:
I want to monitor/access the data that is generated in the for loop (See attached, the 3 wires within the green circle I want to monitor).
2 Questions:
How can I access the data on the wires (within the loop) from a higher level VI?
How can I then run this VI in a higher level VI while the higher level VI is continuing and not waiting for the sub-VI to complete?
I tried using a Que but I cannot seem to get that working.
Any suggestions?

The queue is a good way to move data from a running subVI to another VI. Your problem is that if the subVI is inside a loop in the main VI, that loop in the main VI cannot iterate until the subVI completes. The solution: have the sub VI running in parallel - not inside - the loop.
Look at the Producer/Consumer Design Patterns (at File >> New... >> VI >> From Template >> Frameworks >> Design Patterns >> Producer/Consumer. This may be more than you need at the moment but will show how the parallel code process works.

Be aware that the password is exported as PLAIN TEXT in the workspace export!
Since there is no code management system in Forte to keep track of versions/changes we have three different environments exporting the entire workspace form dev to test and then from test to live.
As part of the move we change the password string in the export file before moving from test to live - or so the theory goes.
If you want to monitor access to the database why not do so at the database level? BTW, what DB do you use?
Or if you need to keep track of DB access from the application write a little logger routine that writes a line to a central log file reporting whenever the DB access method(s) are accessed. Potential for significant overhead here. Of cause you have to ensure that only the say your designated EntityManager projects are allowed to access your database in the first place.

Hmm.
Thanks for this answer.
I should have clarified that I wanted to know what they contained at runtime,
because we don't use hardcoded values (that any pex or wex would show as you spotted),
but environment variable names which values set at runtime depend on the launcher used.
(Actually, that's the only way to be portable in both development, test and live environments).
Therefore, as described below, I'm just looking for any sqlnet call or oracle instance connection
traceability.
I " use " oracle 7.X
To clarify, Forté as a set of 'DB*' flags, one of them (we have) being able to trace any SQL call.
The idea was to 'add' the connection string used (i.e. to try to understand the 'too many processes'
oracle errors found, whether instance is accessed ; or to monitor the 'please use SQLNET V2' errors).
Any idea on " ultimate Memory Flags idiot's guide " welcomed.
Here's our situation :
All is plain text as you spotted. We use environment variable names in those fields,
substituted at 'launch' time with memory contents.
The idea would be to actually see at runtimethe database connection stringn something like :.
DATABASE CONNECTION
Caller : Ultimate_XZone_Tetris_Server_Cl34_part32 Partition
Object : DBSession UnexpectedUserStatsDBSO attached to instance Orcl
with connection string TetrisGURU/MyNameIsBond@Orcl)
Knowing that the code relies on those 'service object properties' :
External Manager : TetrisDBMgr
Database Name : ${TetrisDBNameString}
User Name : ${TetrisUserNameString}
User Password : ${TetrisUserPasswordString}
and the node manager running XXX_Ultimate_Application_Tetris_Server_Cl34_part32 has
the three environment variables set as public (i.e. exported to child processes).
Note : Of course we use uppercase variable names (unix :) ) and don't program tetris.
Thanks for any idea,
J-Paul

• Can't Access Bottom Information Bar

Hello all! Okay I've got a photoshop conundrum. Background: I was working on a monitor with my laptop connected to it (so dual screen), and working in photoshop on the larger monitor screen. I now work solely on my laptop, and no longer have monitor access. When I opened my photoshop file, it kept the larger dimensions from the larger monitor screen. I can no longer see the bottom information panel (zoom, etc), or resize the file. It's as iff they are simply too far down to access, and I can't get to them. I've tried re-downloading photoshop, and it didn't help. Any solutions?! I'm in a major pickle. HELP!

I run my Macbook off an external monitor, and sometimes run into that problem. So that's what has worked for me. Mark the answer correct if you are accessing these forums via web browser. Others with the same question will see the green bubble and know there is a fix.
Glad to know it works, thanks for getting back to me.

• Monitoring services Automatic startup type

I've installed Opsmgr 2012 R2 CU5 in a test environment. Going to replace our Opsmgr 2007 R2 live environment within 2 months.
I want to monitor all Automatic startup services. In Opsmgr 2007 R2 I created an override for the rule " A service terminated Unexpectedly". Did the same In Opsmgr 2012, but I don't get an alert if I stop a service. I noticed that there or a few
services in the "Core Windows Services Rollup" monitor that do create an alert if I stop them.
What am I missing?
