Monitoring asset in CS4 limited to a few frames

I recently installed CS4 Premiere pro on my MAC (OS X.6.3, memory 4GB 106 Mhz DDR3, intel core 2 duo 2,54 Ghz). While editing I am used to preview. It may not be realtime in earlier versions, but this situation is impossible to work with.
A preview in the program-sequence windows stops after a split second, sometime 20 frames, sometimes even less. Other windows, like source window, give the same result.
I tried this with both elder mov-files and new HD-capturing.
One of my hypotheses is that the cache memory is not working. The hard disk has almost 200Gb space, so that's not the problem. Anyone a good idea where to look ?

What is the codec that is used for the QT files?  If it's QT animation on a laptop with a laptop drive (for example) it won't work because t
he codec has too much data per second for the drive to handle.

  • Premiere pro cs4 is adding an extra frame to my sequences

Premiere Pro CS4 is adding an extra frame to my sequences so that when I import them into Encore an extra, black frame plays at the end. In the program monitor my sequences stop at the frame I have set the sequence to end at but the counter on the bottom right of the program monitor shows that an extra frame has been added. This duration, not the duration I have set for my sequence, is what Premiere Pro is importing into Encore. I have spoken to Adobe technical help and the representative was having the same issue but she could not resove it. Help! Thank you!

    Hello Wil.
For various reasons, I always add Black Video to the end of my Sequences, to allow for any extra Audio Units. As I also Export DD 5.1 SS, I allow 02 sec. of Black Video at the beginning, to allow set-top players time to "lock onto" the DD 5.1 SS Audio Track. Many high-end units require this extra time at the beginning, too.
    Good luck to the OP,

  • How can I delete the video and keep the Audio  in a few frames using Imovie 11

How can I delete the video and keep the Audio  in a few frames using Imovie 11?

I've met the problem too before. but i solved it with  Audio Converter Mac instead of iMovie. If you have similar situation that just want to keep audio but not video, and if your file format is not workable in iMovie, you can use the Audio Converter for help too. it can easily help to extract audio soundtrack from any video format. Or if you need to convert one audio format to another, it is a good choice too, because it supports many common audio output formats.

  • How do I delete a few frames of my image from the beginning?

There are a few frames of my image in front of the first title. I don't know how to delete these frames. I want my title to start without anything in front of it.
    I'm using PrE 11.
Thanks to everyone who told me about viewing a video without the Adobe Flash Player.

    Tommy,
To remove a single Frame, I would zoom the Timeline to the max. Then, in that Clip, find the Frame that you wish to remove. With the CTI (Current Time Indicator at the last good Frame, hover the Cursor over that spot, until the Scissors Tool pops up (PrE 11 & 12), then click to Cut that Clip. Then, use the right arrow key, to move 1 Frame to the right, and perform the same operation, as above with the Scissors Tool. That will Cut your Clip on either side of that Frame. Rt-click on that Frame, choosing Delete & Close Gap. What version of PrE are you using? ATR, in Reply #2 covered the Scissors Tool, so there should be no difference here - other than placing the CTI on either side of that Frame.
Note: there are considerations to using that method. I assume that you also want to Delete the Video & Audio for that Frame. If they are linked, then the Scissors Tool should Cut both. If they are not linked, you will probably need to do that for both the Video & Audio. Then, if you have Video, or Audio above/below that Frame, you will not be able to automatically Close Gap. Just something to plan for.
Good luck, and hope that helps,

  • When watching my Apple TV (3rd gen) the picture jumps a few frame every few seconds, this happens when I rent a film or play back from my new Mac Pro, my Wifi is the Airport Express.

When watching my Apple TV (3rd gen) the picture jumps a few frames every few seconds, this happens when I rent a film or play back from my new Mac Pro, my Wifi is the Airport Express.

These may be different issues, but lets look at rentals first.
Poor motion can result from mismatched output. If your source is 24 or 30 fps you should set the output of the Apple TV to 60 Hz, for 25 fps content use 50 Hz.
Additionally motion software on the TV itself can cause the picture to jump, check your TV settings and turn off any motion settings in use,

  • Button to load only a few frames within the timeline

I am new to AS3 and was doing a little bit of research before diving in.
I wish I could just create external swfs to load with each button, but the CMS system that I am uploading to won't allow it~
so I HAVE to make the thing into one swf, but the file size is too large.
Is it possible to make a button that loads only a few frames within the timelime? and the next button will load another few?
this is what i found and it says i can't:
    http://stackoverflow.com/questions/791422/how-to-stop-flash-file-swf-from-loading-actionsc ript-3

loading a swf file is an all or none issue.  once you start loading a swf, you can't stop it from proceeding to a complete load unless you unload the entire swf.

  • Exported movies only have first few frames of audio

    Hello everyone,
I've encountered a strange new problem with Premiere Pro CC on the PC.
For some reason, every time I export a movie now, no matter the format, it only contains the first few frames of audio then drops out everything else immediately afterward. The video tends to play fine, but the audio is just completely missing after a few frames.
I feel as though it's some sort of muxing issue, but I do not understand why it is happening
    1. I have not had any major software updates, and my hardware has been the same.
    2. I have tried exporting with and without GPU acceleration.
    3. Just three days ago, on April 4, everything was working fine.
    4. When I open the project on my MacBook Pro, everything exports just fine.
    5. The audio always plays just fine when playing it inside the project, both on my PC and my MacBook Pro.
    6. A seemingly related issue is that some videos have been randomly failing exports in Media Encoder (this has never happened when exporting directly from PrPro, though). The error message I get is:
    - Encoding Time: 00:04:18
    04/07/2014 03:21:12 AM : Encoding Failed
    A low-level exception occurred in: H.264 (Exporter)
    Export Error
    Error compiling movie.
    Unknown error.
Does this have something to do with a recent PC Premiere Pro update that I was not aware of?
    Here are my specs:
    Windows 7 Ultimate
    Intel Core2 Quad CPUQ 9550 2.83 ghz
    8 gigs of ram
    NVIDIA Geforce GTX 650
Audio is going through the motherboard, though I also have NVIDIA High Definition Audio and NVIDIA Virtual Audio Device (Wave Extensible) (WDM) installed.
I am also currently working off of external G-DRIVEs.
Anyone have any idea why this could be happening? This has been a very annoying problem.
I am going to try reinstalling PrPro to see if that will fix things.

I have viewed these files in Windows Media Player, VLC, Quicktime, and Media Player Classic. All have the exact same issue. They also have the exact same issue when played on a different computer (a MacBook Pro) with the same players. I have tried exporting in H.264 (.mp4 container) and MPEG2, same issue. They also have the same issue when I import the file I exported back into PrPro to play it back in there.
When I export on my MacBook Pro with Premiere Pro, everything works fine. This leads me to believe that it's either something wrong with the installation on my PC's version of PrPro or some hardware/software is interacting with my version of PrPro strangely, the latter of which I think is somewhat unlikely since it was working fine just three days before this issue came up.
When I re-installed PrPro, it gave me an error saying some optional components could not be installed. I looked into it, and it said that it could not install Visual Basic C++ 2008. which is fine since I already have it installed (both 2008 and 2010, and x86 and x64 versions of both).
I will try exporting one more time to see if the latest update today has somehow resolved the issue.

  • Deleting a few frames

There are a few frames of my video that are almost entirely filled by the head of the guy in front of me. I'd like to delete them from my clip, but can't seem to figure out how to delete just the frames I want, rather than the entire clip.
Is there a way to do this?

    Some ideas that may help...
    1) In iMovie/Preferences, select DISPLAY TIME AS HH:MM:SS:FRAMES so you can edit to the frame level (rather than to the nearest 1/10 of a second)
    2) Set the thumbnail slider in the Project pane to 1/2 second. This will make it easier to select a few frames.
    3) Select the frames you want to delete by dragging with the mouse so that a yellow border is around them.
    4) Right-click/Delete Selection

  • Audio off a few frames

    Hi,
Been working on project for many months. haven't had this problem till now. every ten minutes down the timeline my dual mono audio will have a clip that's off a few frames or more. when checking both tracks part of the audio is actually erased from the track. seems like a corrupted file. it's major pain as you have keep doing your work over and over as in go back to original file find in and outs and put in timeline.
I have a lot of audio fades on my clips in the timeline. thought maybe that had something to do with it.
    any help is appreciated.
    thanks,
    joe

what are your clip settings and sequence settings for the audio.  They should be 48k 16 bit aiff.  If not, convert your source files and change your sequence settings.
And although it probably wouldn't effect the audio, make sure your video files are NOT h-264.

  • How do you move a clip just a few frames relative to another clip?

I am having a lot of trouble trying to move video and audio clips in the timeline. One key seems to be to use the Option key to select both video and audio. If you don't use Option, you only get the video or the audio.
At present I have a clip on V1 and A1, A2, and another clip on V2, A3,A4. The videos and audio of the 2 clips overlap and I am trying to move the clip on V1,A1,A2 relative to the other clip so that the audio waveforms line up and I can get a contijuous sequence. I can get the overlap fairly close but not close enough. Is there a way to move a clip just one or two frames? Everytime I move the V1 clip, the playhead jumps to the end of the clip.
    What am I doing wrong?

I had a lot of trouble trying to move audio and video tracks together. The clip tended to be copied so often and the playhead would jump so I didn't know where I was or what had happened. When just the audio is moved, this doesn't seem to happen. For large moves, I just drag the audio to within a few frames or so of sync. Then I use + - for the last few frames and to check that sync is not off by a whole frame. Usually there's a little bit of out-of-sync audio but it either disappears on playback or it's not noticable.
I also adjusted the mouse characteristics with respect to speed of double-clicking and this seems to have helped.

  • Deleting One or a Few Frames

I can seem to figure out how to delete just one or a few frames. Every time I try to move the Crop Markers I can't seem to just move them one frame at a time, and there doesn't see to be a way to expand the view of the Clip Viewer.
I feel like this is pretty basic so I must just be missing something.
    thx
    ed

Hi Edward - you use the left/right arrow keys on your keyboard to move the playhead by the desired number of frames. Best done in Timeline View, then use Command-T to split the clip, and then delete the unwanted segment.

  • Multi-monitor issue with CS4?

Hi; I'm running a Mac with the following specs:
    3 x 30" ACD
    MacPro 2,8 Ghz Quad
2x ATI Radon 2600 XT graphics cards (2 screens attached to 1 card; 1 screen to the other card)
I've encountered after the switch from CS3 to CS4 the following issue:
Whenever I try to use the new Bridge Review function using one of the the screens sharing one graphics card I just get a grey screen.
If I move the bridge window to the solely attached screen it works.
Is that an issue of CS4 or is just the throughput of the second graCard providing 2 monitors not sufficient.
    Thanks t.

    T,
There are known issues with using more than one graphics card which Apple has not truly resolved.  You may want to browse some of the threads in the Adobe Photoshop Macintosh forum.
In addition, you should know that Photoshop and Bridge cannot really take advantage of more than one graphic card.
    http://forums.adobe.com/message/1540485#1540485
This bit of information in relation to GPU and OpenGL features and
limitations in Photoshop CS4 had totally escaped me until now. Though
it doesn't affect my setup, it might be of interest to others who may
    have missed it too.
    Excerpt from
    http://www.adobe.com/go/kb404898
    Q. Does Photoshop take advantage of dual-GPU display cards?
    A. Not at this time.
    Q. Why can't Photoshop take advantage of more than one display card?
    A. When you move an image window between two monitors that are
each on a separate display card, the GPU attached to the second monitor
does not have access to the data necessary to accelerate drawing. The
SLI and Crossfire technologies that use more than one GPU to speed up
full-screen games will not work with Photoshop, because their use is
limited by design to accelerate only full-screen games.

  • Ae cs4 limited to recognize only 3gb of ram?

i have ae cs4 instaled on a 32bits win vista with 8gb ram... but my ae only show recognizing 3gb of it. any one know this?

Elaine, your answer includes some items that are factually incorrect or misleading.
    > After Effects is limited to a theoretical maximum of 3GB of RAM per core.
No. The theoretical maximum is 4GB per core.
"The operating system imposes certain limits on the amount of memory that an application can use. After Effects on the Mac OS X operating system can use up to 3.5 GB of RAM, although only about 3 GB is actually available to the foreground application, because Mac OS X uses approximately 500 MB to load the user interface libraries. After Effects on 32-bit Windows operating systems can use up to 3 GB of RAM; however, to use more than 2 GB in After Effects, you must configure Windows XP or Windows Vista appropriately.... After Effects on 64-bit Windows operating systems can use up to 4 GB of RAM with no special configuration."
    (See "Memory usage and storage".)
Your use of the term "RAM cache" is also misleading. Whether you have Render Multiple Frames Simultaneously on or not, the foreground process stores frames for RAM preview in a RAM cache. There is not a separate "RAM cache" for each of the background processes.
Also, you tell this person to change their RAM cache setting to a certain percentage. The original poster is using After Effects CS4. Only After Effects CS3 and earlier have the RAM cache exposed s a percentage.
    > If you have a machine with multiple processing cores and a 64-bit OS
you can enable Multiprocessing in After Effects's preferences.
The Render Multiple Frames Simultaneously feature is not dependent on a 64-bit operating system. Yes, it works much better on a 64-bit operating system, but you can see performace gains with only two processors on a 32-bit operating system.

  • Photoshop CS4 limits

    Hi,
Does anyone know, what are the limits of use of photoshop CS4?
I mean if i have a 8GB memory would cs4 would know how to use it ? Or maybe since it's GPU it's not that relevant and he can use up to 4GB for example?
Second question is regarding the processor, can cs4 use efficiently Quad core or it's a waste and Dual core is enough?
    Thanks in advance,
    Raz

Regarding the RAM You might read the paragraph headlined »Allocating Memory with 64-bit Processors« here:
