Monitoring configuration - timeout

Hi. I hope that someone can help !
I have an OEM 10g Grid Control central installation with a firewall between it an a new remote agent (running Midtier/Infra). The firewall between the sites only allows https and the new remote OEM agent has been installed and can be seen from oem. However when I try and change the 'monitoring configuration' for the servers 'targets' list it timesout.
This must relate to http/https - is thgere anyway that I can change the monitoring info ?
Thx if you can help.

For example, when you configure Database Instance target you must have connection to target host by listener port (default 1521).
So you may just see on firewall logs to see what ports blocked by it when you trying configure Mtier/Infra target server.
To correct monitoring not only http/https connection from OEM to Target Agent needed.

    Does anyone have any ideas or further troubleshooting suggestions for this error?  We have other cluster servers that are configured the same and that do not report this error.

    Hi,
    This seems like an known issue:
    On a cluster, when there are multiple clustered SQL Server instances, management pack discovery scripts may time out for Database Engines, Analysis Services, and Reporting Services. You might see events 21402.
    Please go through the below article for more details:

    We can find the workflow name based on the event information.

  • DPS 6.2, w2k3, fills logfile when disabling monitoring-inactivity-timeout

    When disabling the setting "Poll Unused Connections to Keep them Active" using DSCC the value for
    connectionInactivityTimeoutInSec / monitoring-inactivity-timeout will be set to -1 in the configuration file.
    This causes the LDAP Proxy Server to continuously log the line:
    BACKEND    - WARN  - Activity on connections for LDAP server x.x.x.x:389/ takes longer than configured.is there any option to disable the whole "poll" feature?
    thanks

    Hi andi,
    I cannot reproduce this problem but if -1 value causes the problem, you can either manually remove the connectionInactivityTimeoutInSec:-1 line from the configuration file and restart the proxy or use dpconf set-ldap-data-source-prop monitoring-inactivity-timeout w/o specifying any value (this should remove the attr).

  • CCMS Alert Monitor (edit monitor-configuration.xml. ?)

    Hi Friends
    I'm trying to change the default polling time for the CCMS Alert Monitor, 5 minutes instead of 30 minutes.
    In http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nwpi71/helpdata/en/e5/5d1741b393f26fe10000000a1550b0/content.htm you can read:
    Accuracy
    The default polling period for the monitor is 30 minutes. If you want to have shorter polling periods, you can change them in the SAP NetWeaver Administrator as follows:
    1. Choose Availability and Performance Management ® Resource Monitoring ® Java System Reports (alias: /nwa/java-sys-reports).
    2. Select an arbitrary Number of errors entry in the monitoring tree of the Adapter Engine (leaf node).
    3. Choose Configuration in the right-hand pane.
    4. Choose Edit in the dialog box that appears.
    5. Change the polling period to 5 minutes, for instance.
    6. Choose Save and wait until saving is finished (be patient, since this may take a while).
    7. Choose Configuration Management ® Infrastructure Management ® Java Configuration Browser.
    8. Choose apps ® sap.com ® com.sap.aii.af.app ® Monitoring Configurator ® monitor-configuration.xml.
    9. In the xml file, change the polled-by-template period to the same value as above, for example, 5 minutes.
    10. Save the modified xml file.
    11. Choose Operations Management ® Infrastructure Management ® Start & Stop ® Java EE Services to restart the Monitoring service to apply the changes.
    But in step 9, the xml file I've found in my PI 7.1 (SP6) is this:
    <monitor-configuration>
    <monitor-semantics />
    <monitor-tree />
    </monitor-configuration>
    Also, there is no way to modify that file, you can only display it or download it.
    can anyone tell me how to edit the file.
    regards
    raja

    Hi Raja,
    This is the same as doing the following:
    You can locate the monitor-configuration.xml file in the SDA com.sap.aii.af.app.sda (inside META-INF folder). You can find this SDA in the install directory of PI installation. In this XML file please locate and edit the following tag:
    <template-info template-name="SAP_XIJ2EE_RCRDS">
                            <polled-by-template period="30" unit="MINUTE">
                                <generating-resource
                                    name="com.sap.aii.utilxi.rtcheck.mx.standard.XIJ2EEComponentMBean" type="APPLICATION"/>
                                <template-attribute-mapping>
                                    <invoked-resource-method name="getMonitoringRecords"/>
                                </template-attribute-mapping>
                            </polled-by-template>
                        </template-info>
    Change the above to the following *************
    <template-info template-name="SAP_XIJ2EE_RCRDS">
                            <polled-by-template period="5" unit="MINUTE">
                                <generating-resource
                                    name="com.sap.aii.utilxi.rtcheck.mx.standard.XIJ2EEComponentMBean" type="APPLICATION"/>
                                <template-attribute-mapping>
                                    <invoked-resource-method name="getMonitoringRecords"/>
                                </template-attribute-mapping>
                            </polled-by-template>
                        </template-info>
    The main change is the polled-by-template value from 30 mins to 5 mins as per your req ******
    Construct back the SDA (you can search SDN for that) with this edited XML and then redeploy this SDA with the help of JSPM tool.
    This will re-start the PI Server for the changes to come into effect.
    I hope this helps.
    PS: You can consult your BASIS consultant to locate this sda and re-deploy it on PI Server.

  • T430s - cannot get supported multi-monitor configuration to work

    Hi all,
    I just purchased a new T430s and, overall, I've been very happy with it.  However, I'm having trouble getting a particular multi-monitor configuration to work.  Very simply, I am trying to get the very first configuration as is described on this page...
    http://lnv.gy/15YWJnf
    It is simply a 3-monitor setup where one monitor is external and hooked up via VGA, another monitor is external and hooked up via DisplayPort, and the third monitor is the actual laptop monitor.  I simply cannot get this to work!  I can plug in a single external monitor, but when I try and plug in a second, it always disables my laptop monitor, so I end up with only a 2-monitor setup.  Can anyone please help?
    *Also, I should note, I've called Lenovo Support 3 times after encountering this problem, and, suffice it to say, it was an EXTREMELY frustrating and discouraiging experience.  All in all, I spent over 2 hours on the phone and each time, they essentially REFUSED to help me!  They kept citing that it was a "configuration" issue and that it's not their problem, and then they'd forward me to another department which would then forward me right back to them.  At one point, one rep said that I was essentially "**bleep** out of luck".  Furthermore, when I was getting frustrated with the lack of help, I asked a rep to escalate the issue and allow me to talk to a manager.  He said that he COULDN'T DO IT because the system wouldn't allow it, again, citing that it's a configuration issue and not their responsibility!  Does anyone from Lenovo ever read these forums?  Will someone PLEASE take ownership of this issue and help me out?  I'm not asking for much!  I just want to get a setup that you guys say is supported!
    Sorry for the rant, but my interactions with Lenovo support have really been frustrating.  Anyways, any help would be much appreciated.  Thanks in advance!
    Charles
    Solved!

    whoischarles,
    Welcome to the forum!  Thanks for the question and  tweet about this thread.  Thanks Lead_Org for getting us started... I know you have tried out a number of multiple display configs, so you may have some follow up suggestions....
    As far as I know...
    The T430s supports external displays a little differently than the T420s did, and differently than the T430 and T530 do.  There are a number of different discussions on T430s multiple display configs in the forum - you might search a few and just browse them to see the combinations others have tried and their experiences.  Here is one example.  Here is another more recent.
    Here is another more recent.
    Here is an official tip with specific configs that Lenovo supports for the T430s.
    From our official tip, it appears that you cannot have both the LCD and external VGA and displayport.  I think you can have 2 external displayport displays and either a 3rd external via VGA port, or the built in LCD.   I remember trying out some of these a year or so ago, and I seem to recall that you needed a dock to get 3 external, or 2 external and the internal LCD to work on the T430s.
    Best regards,

  • What is "Remediate" checkbox under PRO Monitor Configuration

    Hi,
     I deployed SCVMM 2012 R2 and integrated with SCOM 2012 R2 for ProTips and DO testing, but i have below queries.
    1) ProTips are getting generated only for VMs which are configured with Dynamic Memory and not for VMs with Fix Memory.
    2) Don't get any ProTip alert when i increase Host memory usage to 90% using "testlimit64.exe"(Sysinternal Utility for stimulating the memory pressure)
    3) What is "Remediate" checkbox under PRO Monitor Configuration ? when to use it ? any example ?
    Thanks,
    Mayur
    MayurG

    1) That's by design. The monitor is designed for DM VMs only.
    2) To trigger VM Pressure alert, you need to increase VM Memory demand i.e. run testlimit inside the VM.
    3) Remediate is not implemented by default for these monitors so nothing will happen if u select them. However, it can be implemented by extending the MP and if selected , SCOM will auto trigger the defined remediation.
    thanks

  • DB Console:  Monitoring Configuration

    I was forced to use the DB console for one of the RAC database's in our environment due to a number of reasons. I'm familiar with GC but I've never used the DB Console. First, I wasn't able to find info on how to do a RAC configuration so I simply followed the same steps as it was a single instance DB. Both the repository creation and DB configuration went successfully. When I logged in to the Console, it appeared to identify the DB as a Cluster. The targets appeared to still require configuration, but everytime I go to Monitoring Configuration I get back "ERROR: You must have OPERATOR TARGET privilege to perform this operation." while logged in as either sysman,sys, or system ?:| ....
    Solaris x86-64 Oracle 10.2.0.3

    You need to configure dbconsole for RAC with cluster option,
    Using EMCA with Real Application Clusters

  • Monitoring Configuration bypassing steps 2,3,4

    Hi. I've successfully installed and configured Grid Control, Agents and DB Hosts but I've encountered a problem with certain databases.
    When I click on 'Monitoring Configuration' there are 5 steps:
    Properties ------ Install Packages ----- Credentials ----- Parameters ----- Review
    I want to install and configure STATPACKS to check TOP and BAD Sql, but when I click on 'Next' in Step 1/5, it directly goes to 5/5, bypassing the intermediate ones.
    The only thing I could find on the net about this issue is that it should happen when configuring Cluster Databases, but this is not the case:
    (complete document here: http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B16240_01/doc/em.102/e10954/addnl_tasks.htm)
    18.5.2 Configuring Cluster Databases
    For versions 10.1 and higher, Enterprise Manager bypasses the Install Packages, Credentials, and Parameters steps, and goes directly to the Review page.
    I've manually installed STATSPACK but still can't configure it from Grid Control. Any ideas why does this happen?
    Thanks

    Nevertheless, a bulk loading process is what I really like to have as part of the wizard.
    If all of the CSV files are identical:
    use the Excel2Collection plugin ( - Process Type Plugin - EXCEL2COLLECTIONS )
    create a VIEW on the collection (makes it easier elsewhere)
    create a procedure (in a Package) to bulk process it.
    The most important thing is to have, somewhere in the Package (ie your code that is not part of APEX), information that clearly states which columns in the Collection map to which columns in the table, view, and the variables (APEX_APPLICATION.g_fxx()) used for Tabular Forms.

  • Howto configure Timeout for database link

    Hi,
    how can I configure the expected timeout for a db link connection?
    My problem is, that I've to get data from a far distance database and the network connection is not very good.
    Sometimes it works pretty good, but often I get a not reachable error. Monitoring the server with ping shows, that the server is always alive, but the roundtrip time is high ( >200 ms).
    System: Oracle 9.2.0.5
    Linux (RedHat)
    Thanks for help
    Stephan

    Well since db links just use the underlying SQL*Net configuration, what you're actually looking for is timeout settings for SQL*Net, there are two:
    In the listener.ora file on the server:
    INBOUND_CONNECT_TIMEOUT_<listener_name> = n seconds
    Determines the limit the database listener will wait for a client connection to complete after the connection is made.
    In the sqlnet.ora file on the server:
    SQLNET.EXPIRE_TIME = n minutes
    Determines the limit for the frequency of active connection verification of a client connection.
    If the problem is you're getting disconnected because of network timeouts, it could be here or something in your LAN network settings.

  • Solution manager system monitoring configuration

    Hi
    I am configuring system monitoring in solution manager (Oracle / Solman 7.0 EHP1 / Windows 2008 / VM)
    I have added a satellite system to solution manager thru CCMS and CCMSPING agents. These are visible in RZ21 / Technical infrastructure / Overview. This has also been added in SMSY, SMSY when refreshed pulls out data from the satellite system. However I am having trouble with the transaction SOLUTION_MANAGER. This is where I setup system monitoring.
    Here I find the solution maanger system however am not able to find the satellite system which I had added.
    Thoughts?
    thanks
    Ravi

    Hi,
    Have you defined and added corresponding logical systems for the respective satellite systems?
    Here is the sequence of steps you've to do:
    in SMSY:
    1) Define server, DB, Systems
    2) Generate READ, TMW, TRUSTED RFCs to the satellite systems
    3) define logical systems and assign the satellite system to it
    in Solution_Manager:
    1) define new solution
    2) add the logical system into the solution
    If these steps are successful, you should be able to see the satellite system in SYSTEM MONITORING in Solution_Manager.
    Have you already done these steps?
    After performing these steps:
    Solution_Manager>choose relevant solution>operations setup>Solution Monitoring>System monitoring>Activate monitoring> choose the system and activate monitoring.
    Your system will then appear.
    Does this help any way?

  • Side-by-side 2 monitor configuration changing to top-to-bottom

    Hello all, I am at work and I am running an HP PC on Windows 7 with
    2 monitors that are sitting side-by-side
    physically.
    The models are:
    NEC EA243WM, and
    HP ZR2440w
    Both monitors connect to the same video card inside the HP PC using DisplayPort cables.
    Both are set to run at maximum Resolution of 1920x1200 (recommended), and
    Orientation is set to Landscape, with
    Multiple Displays = Extend these displays.
    So I get everything working in a manner that I need, which is side-by-side and there is a little picture above all of these settings showing the
    virtual monitor arrangement as Monitor2 (on the left) and Monitor1 (on the right) it shows in a little picture as side by side.  This setup of physical arrangement of the monitors in a side-by-side configuration works very well with the
    virtual arrangement of the monitors in a side-by-side configuration for approximately 1-2 weeks.
    Then on any given number of days later, the virtual monitor arrangementswitches  to top-to-bottom, with monitor #2 on top and monitor #1 on the bottom.  I discover this every
    week by accident because I cannot move a small window from right screen to left, or left screen to right.
    It has been going on for about 2 months now.  I have already swapped the DisplayPort cables on the PC end around, I have not yet tested changing both cables to
    hopefully known tested good cables; but, come on, do I need to do that?
    I believe this problem is truly software based.  Has anyone else observed this behavior?  Could the video cables be causing this intermittent side-by-side to top-to-bottom changeup?
    Please help,
    Warron

    Since this is a brand new PC, then I suppose the video card inside is different from the previous one, or there's a compatibility issue, have you checked this issue with the manufacture, since they're more familiar with the specific product?

  • System monitoring configuration in solution manager EHP1

    Hi all
    I am in a bit of fix
    We have upgraded our solution manager devlopment to EHP1
    Now I have added one system through SMSY in solution manager to configure system monitoring
    I have generated all the RFC's,I have created the logical component and solution and assigned the system to the solution
    When I check my solution it is looking fine
    Now when I go within solution and click on the tab system monitoring
    It shows me on the left hand side -> Set up system monitoring
    when I click on Set up system monitoring on the left part of SAP screen,strangely it doesnt take me to the activation of screen monitoring,it just shows me the best practices documents on the right side but nothing more than that
    I have checked many guides,blogs and SAP tutors anfd have followed them but strangely I am not been able to go to the screen for activating system monitoring
    Are there any activities that need to be done after upgrading to EHP1?
    Are there any services to be activated for system monitoring?
    Please advice
    Rohit

    I'm not 100% sure that it is necessary, but it won't hurt.
    Perhaps the essential adjustment you need for system monitoring is being done in there.
    It won't hurt

  • Dual External Monitor configuration

    I want to connect two large external monitors to my MacBook Pro. I already own the monitors. One monitor has a dvi connector, the other has a vga connector (they both used to be connected to my "Dull" laptop computer).
    One configuration that I have considered is the use of the following:
    In the mini port, I will plug in the "Mini DisplayPort to DVI Adapter"
    It is listed in the Apple Store from the following URL:
    http://store.apple.com/us/product/MB570Z/A?fnode=MTY1NDA4Mw&mco=MTczNzE2NTY
    Then I will plug into a USB port a USB to DVI Adapter from Diamond (it comes with a DVI to VGA adapter to dumb down the connection if needed).
    http://www.amazon.com/Diamond-BVU195-Display-Adapter-included/dp/B002GHBW4S
    The monitors would then be plugged into these adapters.
    Can someone tell me if this configuration will work? Is there a better way?

    Yes, that should work.
