Monitoring HANA Studio

Hello,
I'm monitoring the hana db with the hana studio and I've a doubt about the disk usage monitor.
Total Disk usage must be equal or greater than the data volume size, musn't?
Thanks a lot

Hi,
It should be. Don't know why in your SAP HANA Studio. BTW, You can find the descriptions in SAP HANA Administration Guide.

  • How do I enable the Memory Overview in HANA Studio?

I read John's blog about the SPS7 features:
    http://scn.sap.com/docs/DOC-49991#comment-467746
Now I wanted to see the Memory Overview myself. I granted the role sap.hana.admin.roles::Monitoring to user SYSTEM and opened the Memory Overview. This is what I get:
I cannot see the Memory Overview with HANA revision 70, 71 or 72.
I cannot see the Memory Overview with HANA Studio running on Linux or Windows.
I cannot see any entries in the tracefiles of the HANA database.
The same problem with Resource Utilization, I get a blank window.
The HANA database is up and running. Database, Client and Studio are revision 72.
What do I do wrong? It seems that I am not the only one affected.

    Mark

    Hi Mark,
Have a look at the loaded Delivery Units (DU) in your SAP HANA system. Is the HANA_ADMIN DU available?
Check if all the Delivery Units have been loaded
In SAP HANA Studio open the Modeler perspective and check the Delivery Unit.
In the menu Window => Open Perspective => Other select the SAP HANA Modeler perspective.
In the Quick Launch view navigate to Delivery Units. The following Delivery Units should be loaded by default.
    HANA_ADMIN
    HANA_IDE_CORE
    HANA_TA_CONFIG
    HANA_UI_INTEGRATION_CONTENT
    HANA_UI_INTEGRATION_SVC
    HANA_XS_BASE
    HANA_XS_EDITOR
    HANA_XS_FORMLOGIN
    HANA_XS_IDE
    HANA_XS_LM
    HANA_XS_SQLCC
    SAPUI5_1
If there are Delivery Units missing please load all Delivery Units using the Import option in the Quick Launch view. Click Import => SAP HANA Content => Delivery Unit
Select the files from the Server option.
Open the File drop-down menu and select the missing Delivery Units one by one.
To load the Delivery Unit press Finish and repeat this for all missing Delivery Units.

  • Model in HANA Studio or IDT

    Hello Everyone,
    We have a question on a scenerio/approach:
    1.  We have HANA and have SLT table replication
    2.  Do we model in HANA (with Calculation Views, Analytic Views, Attribute Views) Studio or model the relationship model directly in Information Design Tool?
We see all HANA documentation states Calculation/Analytic/Attribute views and mentions only IDT for creating the Universe.  We don't see anywhere that you should create the model itself in HANA Studio or IDT.  Is there a preferred approach/Best Practice?
    Thank You!

Not very sure, what was the scenario that led BI expert author to that conclusion. Hope it was not one of those manufacutred lab scenarios.
Based on my past couple of projects on HANA, I know this for a fact by default Analytic View runs faster than physical tables. Client have always come up with same question and we have performed tests to get the right results.  You can do this simple test, run SQL statement on both and monitor "core" status on your HANA box. You can see in case of SQL, only 1 core get utilized and in case of Analytic Views all cores utilization will go up.
Also on article key concept it says "SAP HANA Studio is the primary client tool used to manage SAP HANA and to create analytic views" which is not true. "SAP HANA Studio is the primary client tool used to manage SAP HANA and to create DATA MODELS (which can be attribute view, analytic view, Calculation View)

  • Some thing wrong with HANA Studio embedded browser setting?

i have hana studio 1.50.1, and sap.hana.admin.roles:Monitoring role, but when i try to open 'resource utilization', 'memory overview editor' or 'memory allocation statistics editor' , all shown as blank without any error, what 's wrong here?

Version 1.50 would indicate that you are running an SAP internal only build of the HANA Studio. Please do not post SAP internal questions on the public forums. If you are having problems with an internal build, I would suggest you uninstall and re-install an officially supported revision of the HANA Studio. Latest supported versions of the HANA Studio are available in the corporate software corner.

  • Adding BW Modelling plugins in HANA Studio

    Hello Experts,
I installed SAP HANA Studio in my local machine (outside C:Program Files, i.e in  D Drive)
I followed 2 options to install BW Modelling Tools Plugin, both have been unsuccessful. Can some one please let me know what is missing.
I checked the pre-requisites mentioned in the installation document (http://help.sap.com/download/netweaver/bwmt/SAP_BW_Modeling_Tools_Installation_Guide_en.pdf) and my system has all the necessary ones.
    Option 1
    - Followed the instructions mentioned in the https://tools.hana.ondemand.com/
    - HANA Studio --> Help --> Install New Software --> Provide the link https://tools.hana.ondemand.com/luna
    - I get the below error
Unable to connect to repository https://tools.hana.ondemand.com/luna/content.xml
    Connection to https://tools.hana.ondemand.com refused
    Option 2
      - Download latest patch from Service market place
      - HANA Studio --> Help --> Install New Software --> Provide the Archive path
      - Error message I get is below,

If SAP could provide the HANA tools over just http:// instead of https:// then it would work under proxy conditions with the network connectivity option in eclipse set to "native" mode

  • HANA Studio: Filter more than one catalog schema

    Hi,
Simply a usability question: Is it possible to filter a list of schemas in the catalog folder of HANA studio. I see only, that I can filter one pattern of a schema name. I would like to reduce the visible schemas in the catalog folder according to an arbitrary free to be chosen list of schemas.
    Did I miss something?
    Thanks,
    Ingo

    Hello Ingo Peter,
Very interesting question but I really doubt if it is possible!
Even giving 2nd Schema name will overwrite the earlier filtered Schema

  • Unable to see SAP standard table in HANA Studio

    Hello Experts,
I have  requirement to built calculation view of SAP Standard Table like BSEG, BKPF table
but i am unable to view this table in Catalog view in HANA Studio.
Do i require any authorization or configuration to be done to view this table in those catalog view in hana studio.
    Regards,
    Mr. Dehey

    Dehey,
Assuming that your SAP HANA is the primary database for your backend ERP instance (Suite on HANA), you need to have minimum SELECT privilege on the SAP<SID> schema, <SID> is the system identifier of your ERP instance.
Ask youur SAP HANA admin to grant the SELECT privilege on SAP<SID> schema to your user ID by executing the below SQL query from SQL console.
    GRANT SELECT ON SCHEMA SAP<SID> TO <YOUR_USER_ID>;
    Hope this helps.

  • HANA DB 1.00 Build 20 - Error import COPA Data with HANA STUDIO 1.00...

    Hi,
Has anyone tried loading data records to HANA DB 1.00 Build 20 from the CTL files provided in     https://wiki.wdf.sap.corp/wiki/display/HANADemoenvironment/HowtoloadCOPAdata ?
It was work on HANA DB 1.00 Build 15 but not with New Build...
The procedure was exactly the same
The creation of Tables is done but i have this error with import data with each csv files:
Command with HANA Studio (Build 20):
                    load from '/tmp/export/TCURT.ctl' threads 4 batch 1000;

I tried also:  load from '/tmp/export/TCURT.ctl' -> same error...
We have all privileges on the tmp folder and files
I tried also to copy new data from source...
    Do you have an idea?
Thanks for advance for help .
    Best regards,
    Eric MG

    Hello,
LOAD TABLE command was not public - full syntax was never mentioned in any SAP guide on help.sap.com or Market Place (except SAP HANA Pocketbook-DRAFT). Therefore it is SAP internal syntax that can be changed anytime. And I guess this is what happened. Command is either deprecated or having different syntax.
If you need to import CVS file I would suggest to use official way - either IMPORT command (which was also not very public before but since SP03 it is mentioned in SQL Script Guide) or best using SAP HANA Studio import functionality (just be sure you use CVS as type of file).
You can find explanation of both ways in this blog:

  • No SQL (hdbsql / HANA Studio) Connection to SAP HANA Rev. 69 (all services GREEN, running)

    Hi all,
after starting HANA instance (locally installed on Linux Laptop) via sapcontrol [1], checking with sapcontrol's GetProcessList as well as HANA Studio Admin Console Diagnosis Mode Shows all Services GREEN, running.
However, when I try to open "Default Administration" in HANA Studio, it "Refreshing Overview" and is busy till infinity.
Trying to connect via \c command of HDBSQL eventually works, but any commands like \ds (list schemas) will run till infinity without returning anything.
SAP Business One for HANA SLD shows the Server but not the Company DBs / schemas.
    I attached sapstart.log and statisticsserver_alert_sid.trc.
    Any advice is highly appreciated.
    Thanks & Kind Regards

[1] I start HANA executing: /usr/sap/<SID>/SYS/exe/hdb/sapcontrol -prot NI_HTTP -nr 00 -function StartWait 270 2 OR /usr/sap/<SID>/SYS/exe/hdb/sapcontrol -nr 00 -function Start with user sidadm
[2] The issue occurs since the upgrade from Rev. 53 to HANA Rev. 69 (in the context of upgrading from Business One for HANA PL02 to PL09)

    Yes Aleksandr
    I think you are right.
After doing many installation of HANA Server in differrent AWS instances it didn't work for me.
But when I installed the HANA Studio on another machine with more RAM it worked.
I think we have to install HANA Studio on another AWS instance with 16 GB RAM to make it run smoothly.

  • Which ports are needed for SAP HANA Studio - HANA DB communication?

I want to connect SAP HANA Studio to a HANA instance. The HANA instance number is 40.

Do I need to open any other ports to make HANA Studio work with HANA DB?
    Regards,
    Mark

    Hi Mark,
The HANA Studio connects to HANA DB Instance with JDBC on port 3<Instance number>15.
For your HDB with Instance Number 40, the port would be 34015.
HANA Studio will automatically assign the JDBC port number when you assign the instance number when you add new system.
Looking at the error message that you posted:
    !ENTRY com.sap.ndb.studio.navigator 4 1 2012-01-16 14:01:40.627
!MESSAGE [HDB hostname 40 (SYSTEM)] Error on refreshing system
It looks like the hostname entry was not entered correctly (you might have entered "hostname" value when adding the system in HANA Studio).
Here is an example of correct log entry on DCA database instance on hanasvr-01 server with Instance number 00:
    !ENTRY com.sap.ndb.studio.navigator 4 1 2012-01-10 13:55:23.598
    !MESSAGE [DCA hanasvr-01 00 (SYSTEM)]
You may want to delete and re-add your HDB instance in your HANA Studio.
    Regards,
    Ferry

  • The Configuration Area could not be created (HANA Studio)

This message is posted in case some else comes across this issue. After installing the SAP Hana Studion, I was continually receiving the following message:
"The Configuration Area at 'c:\Users\U\.eclipse\org.eclipse.platform_3.5.0_1152700900\configuration' could not be created. Please choose a writable location using the '-configuration' command line option'.
After trying to mess around with the command line option, I found that I needed to run the Hana Studio as an Administrator. ie, right click on the HANA Studio icon and select 'Run as Administrator' from the context menu.

If this is a new setup discard existing web application along with site and content database. Recreate the same web application and try provisioning PWA with new databases
