Monitoring of data

Hi Sapiens,
when i am monitoring the data rsmo, one of the ods has 0 records.
the ods is receiving the data from r/3 ztable.
how to check from r/3, the number of records sent to bw.
Plz advise.

first check the data source name in RSA3(EXTRACTOR CHECKER) in r/3 side and check the data records in ODS in bw side.

Performance Monitor Remote Data Collection unable to get data

When attempting data collection of a remote Windows 2008 server (Server_B) from another W2k8 server (Server_A) I receive the following error: "When attempting to start the Data Collector Set the following system error occurred: No data to
return."
However remote real-time monitoring of Server_B is no problem. Also, local real-time monitoring and data collection of Server_A is successful.
Is the error due to security restrictions?

Would you please let me know whether have administrator rights on the server trying to collect data collector set?
Please type services.msc on RUN. When Services panel opened, please navigate to Performance Logs & Alerts
service and check if it started. Meanwhile, please temporarily disable firewall and monitor the result.
In addition, please refer to following KB and check if can help you.
The Data Collector Set may not start on a computer that is
running Windows Server 2008 or Windows Vista
Performance Monitor data collector set does not collect all
required performance counter data in Windows 7 or in Windows Server 2008 R2

Monitor the data change

Hello guys,
I have a little problem here. I got the data stream from the data acquisition device, and the data could be indicated on a chart. I could see the waveform on the Labview front panel, and even got the data value from the indicator. However, I need to record the data at one moment, and record another data after a small time interval. Then, I need to monitor the data change. Any good idea? Thank you!

I would like to monitor the data, when the data sudden drop-down, I could send a message to switch off the system. My idea is obtain a data at one moment and obtain another data after a small time interval. When the change is larger than acceptable value, I switch it off.

Sorry Mahi. Looks like all of the scripts i've got are for logical standbys and not physical. Have a look at the link ualual posted - easy enough to knock up a script from one or more of those data dictionary views. Just had a look on metalink and there's what looks to be a good script in note 241438.1. Its a good starting point definately.

Activity monitor shows data sent when playing songs

What's going on? Whenever I play a song on iTunesl, Activity Monitor shows data being sent, as if I'm streaming it. Am I?

Data sent is termed uploading. Data received is termed downloading. So no, you're not streaming it.
There are a lot of processes running on your Mac at the same time, many of which need to connect to the Internet to maintain a connection, check for data, etc. So it will send out a small amount of data, and receive some as well all the time. The amount of data transferred is usually very small, and you don't need to worry about it.

Remote system monitoring entry- data not relayed to Central system

Hello Folks,
I am trying to establish a central monitoring system for our client. I am trying to test it in the DEV environment first.
The central system is a Solution manager system (Dual stack- ABAPJAVA). I am trying to bring in monitoring data from the ECC development environment (ABAPJAVA).
First of, i created to RFC connections in Solution manager system, one for data collection and the other for analysis. I have maintained the host address of the ECC system as target.
Then i have created a remote system entry in Transaction RZ21--> technical infrastructure entered the 2 RFC names and have executed the function.
At this point i am only trying to bring in ABAP stack monitoring data form the ECC system so i have not generated the CSNCONF file.
Now when i look in Solution manager RZ20-->CCMS monitoring templates, i can't see any data for the the ECC system.
I guess i am doing something wrong. Am i looking in the wrong monitor set?
As additional information: Solution manager (SMD) and ECC (ECD) use different transport domains / transport groups. I dont know if this makes a difference.
Can some one please help.

if I understand correctly your system shows only MTEs from R/3 Stack, not from the OS side, pls check your SAPOSCOL. Are the data in OS06 in your remote system correct and do you see the current data, refredhed all 10 seconds?
To check your environment, pls do the following:
in th efirst step check in RZ21 > in the Topology part the System Overview for your system connection to your back end system. Are the Read Destination Data RFC and the Destination Analysis RFC correct and works the authority chek fine?
In the second step pls check in RZ21 > in the Agents for Remotey SAP Systems part; are there registered your remote ccms agents correctly and works the connection test.
Stop the agents and in your RZ20 monitor pls enter STAT in your command field. Are there displayed for your MTE nodes the read RFC destinations?
Start the agents and and in your RZ20 monitor pls enter STAT in your command field. Are there displayed for your MTE nodes the CCMS Agent RFC destinations?
To rebuild the Monitor in the CEN system you could try to reset the node of your remote system in the warm up status > go in the remote system to RZ1 > go to local segments > change to edit > select your segments > reset segment in "WARMUP" status.
In the CEN system you coul try to go to the edit mode for the Agents for Remot SAP Systems > select your remote system and push the button Reinitialize Agents
In the back end system you can try to delete all MTEs in RZ21 > menu Technical Infrastructure > Reorgenize Segment Table > select the options with "ALL" in the CEN and the remote system to reorgenize all data.
Could you pls post for the missing MTEs a screenshot on the one side from the CEN system and on the other side from the remote system...
and last but not least you could try the following for missing OS MTEs
delete ALALERTS, ALMTTREE and ALPERFHI in /usr/sap/ccms/<SID>_<SNR> and check in the agents folder all trace and log files for errors.

Monitoring mateiral dates functionality in PS

I wish to use this functionality for the following scenario:
Project material needs long delivery duration. And the delivery monitoring is critical function since any delay hampers entire project.
Especially, for major project items, the release of purchase order is not enough. Because subsequently there are several activcities need to be performed by both parties, delay in which will impact the original delivery.
So, i wish to have the events as shown below:
Z0001     Receipt of acceptance
Z0002     Receipt of Advance Bank Guarantee doc
Z0003     Release of Advance
Z0004     Receipt of Drawings
Z0005     Approval of Drawings
My query is, what is the aspect with Refernece dates.
What is baseline, plan, actual. How the dates can be linked?
I request experts to guide me in this regard.

dates monitoring functionality - now called progress tracking is done for the this purpose when the PO is to nbe monitored
the network activity (external) will have the reuqired dates based on scheduling
the dates within date monitoring functionality have to be within these dates - meaning all your events Z001 etc are completed within the required delivery of the material. Dates monitoring helps to plan the delivery of the PO.

BP Analytics - Customer defined monitor - No data

Hi,
While my custom monitor is running fine with BPMon alerting, i am not able to get results in BP Analytics (though I configured and activated it with "group by options" at logical component level).
In the /SSA/EXM - ECU customizing, I checked boxes for standard BW, BP Analytics Bench/Trend & declared some semantic Ids/BI gen. for the BP Analytics "group by" options at key figure & 1 semantic ID for monitor level.
See the custo. attached.
My custom monitor is first getting the list of Sales Open Orders then calculating the average amount of those open orders (€).
I didn't use the map field options as I consider this monitor as BackLog type, even if I calculate an average amount in the end.
Did I miss something ?
How can I check if some data is retrieved at managed system level for BP Analytics ?
Note: Standard key figures are running fine with BP Analytics.

To resolve the issue, you need to detect where you have problem.
Possible problem parts can be 1 of the following.
1.Data collection in managed system with your coding not working properly
   =>You can check your coding behavior with simulation program described in SAP Note 1521095.
       Please check whether your coding working properly by using program ZBPMON_START_DC.
       if data collection properly worked, you should be able to see collected data in managed system.
       (As described in BPMon trouble shooting guide, with program /ssf/ptabbrowser, you can see
         collected data. SE38 /ssf/ptabbrowser -> (Relid TC, Projectid ECU)
         There should be some entry starting with DI_Solution GUID _MONITOR_MONID).
         if there is a entry to your monid, this proof, data collection phase is ok.
2.Data transfer from managed system to SolMan analytics not working
        Check the entry in your analytics cube(0SM_BPMRH) with your monid via t-cs listcube.
        if there is data, data is properly transfered from managed system to SolMan cube.
        if data is missing, transfer has some issue.
        Better to check, your monitor configuration in managed system.
        Especially selection parameter and detail list customize via /SSA/EXM.
         (param id, semantic ids are properly assigned between selection parameter and detail list).
        In more detail, please check customer exit guide.
         If you have no clue, better to open Open SAP incident ticket (formerly called OSS message).
3.Data is in SolMan Analytics cube but data retrival to Analytics is not working.
         Recommend to check MDX connection in SM59 ->TCP/IP.
          Analytics collect cube data with MDX RFC connection. So MDX connection has to work.
         If MDX works and your data is in Analytics Cube, you have 2 possibilities.
          3.1 missing authorization. please chceck your authorization especially related to
                 role SAP_SM_BPOANA_ALL
           3.2 Analytics runtime XML definition is not avaialble.
                  If your solman is less than Sp8 and not having analytics required notes described in
                  note 1759233, you may have to create XML definition manually via
                 connector deirectory (go to connector directory from BPO workcenter lef side bar)
                  and conduct update AKF.
                  If all notes described in note 1759233, AKF update automatically carried out
                   when you activate your monitor. So no need to do this manually.

Is there a way to monitor the data usage on existing applications?

I just noticed that a few apps are still using my data plan long after I closed the application.
Is there a way to monitor that?
Also I am being told that the icloud back up can consume allot of data (in the GB)

About the only thing you could try is looking at the internet history on the phone itself. But there is not a site on VZW that will show WHAT the data was used for,

Access to NI-FBUS Monitor log data at run time

The NI-FBUS Monitor is a useful tool to capture the data traffic on the bus for later evaluation. However, I need a tool for evaluating the fieldbus messages already on runtime.
As far as I know NI does not provide an API allowing to write my own application for capturing the messages, so I tried to provide the name of a named pipe as file name for the capture file of the bus monitor. The bus monitor connects to the pipe, alas, it does not send any data .
Is there any other way how I can get the fieldbus messages to my evaluation application already at run time?
I'm using the NI-FBUS Monitor version 3.0.1.4026 on a Windows XP computer.

I am afraid that we are not able to provide such a NI-FBUS Monitor within a few weeks. According to NI's product development criterion, every software which is released to customers must through well scheduled development phase and strictly testing process. This criterion aims to ensure the quality and reliability of NI software. I am sorry that a few weeks time is not enough for a new release.

Monitoring failover - Data Guard Broker

Hi,
I work on a Oracle 10.2.0.4 database on Solaris 10. It is a 2 node RAC database with a physical standby configured.
I want to monitor (send a mail) to myself when failover occurs (which will be triggered by data guard broker ) , I think so I can monitor the failover using alert log (which normally does log the command when we initiate a failover) but I am not sure whether data guard broker also does the same( writes appropriate commands when a failover is triggered)
Is there any other way we can come to know when a failover occurs (we can query database_role from v$dataguard status) but I am looking for some trigger that will be fired instantaneously when a failover is initiated ?
Also is it possible to monitor the observer, whether it is up or not ?

Hi,
you have several possiblities to do that. Easiest is to use predefined Grid Control Events for it. Or you may put a trigger on the event "after DB_ROLE_CHANGE on database".
Monitoring the observer can be done with dgmgrl like

show configuration verbose;That show you the presence and location of the observer.
I give you an example for the usage of the trigger that starts a service depending on the role of the database. You may customize it to send you an email.

Monitor the data collection

How can we know if there is no data collected for a server on a specific monitor item/performance rules? Could there be an alert generated if there is no data collection from the server?

First of all, SCOM has no built-in mechanism in keep tracking the functioanality of performance data collection. SCOM agent stores performance data in local data store, c:\porgram file\Microsoft Monitoring Agent\Agent\Health Service State\Health Service
Store\healthserviceStore.edb. Then it will push data into SCOM DB. Once its data is transmitt to SCOM DB, its data is clear. As a result, it is not feasible to recover performance data from the client size.
1) no data collected: Usually, a grey agent under discovered inventory indicates that the agent loss connection to managment server and performance data cannot push into SCOM DB.
2) Database Corrupt: I think that you should recover from your backup and SCOM agent will store its performance locally until the DB is recovery.
