Monitoring Oracle Database SCM 4.0

Hi ,
We have Solution Manager 4.0. We are monitoring SCM 4.0 / Oracle 10g / Windows.
However none of the Database alerts can be viewed in dswp - operations - system monitoring /
administration - server.
All other system are fine !
Any Ideas ?

If anyone out there working with Solution Manager 4.0 ... Your wasting your time until you have SP15 installed .. Solution Manager 7.0.
Thats the fix !

  • Managing/monitoring Oracle Database using WBEM

Typically an Oracle Database environment is best monitored and managed using the
    Oracle Enterprise Manager.
But does Oracle allow/support monitoring and management of Oracle databases using open standards like WBEM?
We are trying to standardize on an open standard like WBEM for monitoring and managing hardware and software and also model those entities using the CIM (Common Information model) and would
like to monitor Oracle Databases under this model using WBEM.
I have read about the ability of the Oracle Enterprise manager to manage other third party hardware and software including databases using WBEM Fetchlets.
Would appreciate any information regarding this topic.

To be more clear, If it creates any conflict between database's em and oem's em when i want to deploy em agent on database ? Is it necessary to remove database's EM before installing oem agent on it?

  • Use OEM to monitor oracle database size

    Hello All,
We currently have several database which are currently monitored via OEM however i will appreciate if anyone can tell me how i can monitor the the size of my oracle databases via oem
    Thanks

    Hi,
I'm not sure of OEM will monitor database size, but many 3rd party tools do.
There are many ways to achieve Oracle table monitoring, and many create specialized extension metadata tables to monitor Oracle table growth. In Oracle 10g you can perform Oracle tables monitoring with the dba_hist_seg_stat tables, specifically the space_used_total column.
On my databases, I create STATSPACK extension tables to track table and overall database growth:

The full scripts are in my Oracle Press book, Oracle tuning with STATSPACK . . .

  • [Blog] Using VMware vROPs to monitor Oracle Database and WebLogic.  Management Pack for Oracle EM, Hyperic Plugins, or Both?

This blog post provides a suggested methodology for helping users of VMware vROps/vCOps decide which of the existing solutions, the vROps Management Pack for Oracle EM and the VMware vROps Hyperic Plugins for Oracle, should be used to monitor their Oracle workloads.
It’s been a nearly a year since VMware transferred the vCOps Adapter for Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM) to Blue Medora and since that transfer Blue Medora has released a number of major updates as well as rebranded it the Blue Medora vROps Management Pack for Oracle EM. Over that same period of time VMware has continued to evolve their Oracle-focused (Oracle Database and WebLogic J2EE) Hyperic agent-based plugins culminating most recently with a October 2014 update to the Oracle Database plugin that provides support for Oracle Database 12c.

Why do you need suggestions apart from EM? Is someone in your company just burning to spend money with another vendor to buy the same functionality that Oracle provides for free with EM?

    Thanks but sorry EdStevens,
I was referring to DB Administration/auditing etc on HP Open VMS in specific. Tools or Grid agent installation steps for effective and easy monitoring.

And I was referring to "DB Administration/auditing etc " on any platform.  Oracle's AUDIT function is the same regardless of OS.
"I found suddenly a couple of schema sizes showing very less in size than usaul,"
Exactly what do you mean by "schema sizes showing very less in size than usual"?  Schemas don't have sizes.  Only segments.
Perhaps if you were more explicit in exactly what problem you are trying to solve, we could give better advice, but whatever it is, I seriously doubt that the solution will be OS-specific.

  • Can Grid control 11g monitor Oracle 9i database

Can Grid control 11g monitor Oracle 9i database? This is on Linux5.7
    Thanks for the help
    s.

Yes but Enterprise Manager 11.1 Grid Control requires the 11.1 Agent.
Then go to the Targets tab, then Databases. It should self-discover the 9i database.

  • Monitoring an Oracle Database Appliance w/Ops Center?

Is anyone using Ops Center to monitor an Oracle Database Appliance?:
    http://www.oracle.com/us/products/database/database-appliance/overview/index.html
I'm looking for a monitoring solution that won't require a lot of 'expect' gathering/parsing work.

A stack trace for the exception would be very useful!
Anyway, perhaps you should check that the username/password specified in the code correspond to those required to access the database (username = "Kotzwinkle", password = "whatever"). Sometimes you can get away with specifying these in the ODBC data source, in which case you shouldn't pass them to the getConnection method.
    Hope this helps.

ThanksGrid control or database control will do this for you, there is a rather big however, er however. Being notified is a part of the diagnostics pack functionality (ludicrously and unjustifiably IMO). That means a license cost (unless you are already licensed for it). nagios does this as others have said as do shell scripts. I'm not aware of an open source tool that does all you want without scripting though.
