Monitoring Scheduled Tasks

Hi All,
I am using 'Scheduled Tasks MP v1.0.0.23' SCOM MP downloaded from
http://blogs.technet.com/b/yasc/archive/2011/10/17/scheduled-tasks-mp-v1-0-0-23.aspx
I have a new requirement now. For the monitor "Check Task Last Run Status" my client needs an alert only when the task failed for consecutive 3 times. How can I achieve this?
I also found another SCOM MP to monitor Scheduled tasks. Its at
https://rburri.wordpress.com/2014/08/12/scheduled-task-and-ps-scheduled-job-management-pack-1-2-0-500/
has anybody used this one? and know if this is better than the first one?
Thanks, S K Agrawal

Hi
you need to add consolidation module to the monitor.

You also need to add/copy the reference for the Scheduled Tasks MP you are using for other OSs. The above is from the MP for Windows 2012 Scheduled Tasks. Most of the existing MPs available for scheduled tasks already cover Windows 2003/2008 R2, I just extended
    support for 2012.

  • SCMA(Schedule Manager) - Monitoring Flow task

    Hi,
Anyone has experience with SCMA. If so, can you please guide me in resolving the following issues.
1)In monitor, Flow task status is green but the underlying two steps have no status. I see <i>Schedule Job</i> and <i>Start Job</i> for each step with no status.
Why SCMA does not update the status of <i>start job</i>(or <i>Schedule job</i>)?
2)Since the flow definition is assigned to 'Customer' appplication, no work list is possible.
if so, shouldnt the monitor display the details of corresponding job(from SM37) in the flow task details. I havenot seen any demo yet with worklist so I do not what does it provide in monitor.
3)Is there an implementation guide for customer applications providing worklist?
I sincerely appreciate reply for any of the above questions.
    thanks,

  • KM Scheduler Task not running

    Hello All,
I have created a scheduler task for the , for the same I have created a PAR file , have successfully Build the project and deployed , Have configured the time in the Global services . But for some reason I could not see the task being running in the "Component Monitor" (when I select the Services-->scheduler >select one of the CM systems (have two currently)>click on on the CM system ) I could not see my custom task .
As well as When I go to "Service configuration" --> Portal Application , there also I could not see my custome application .
Initially whenever there use to be any error (for example -- CM systems not assigned etc etc ).
Is it something I am missing while deployement , Or has it being deployed properly?

  • KM Scheduler Task is not running...

    Dear All,
I have created a KM Scheduler Task using the NDWS Wizard. I followed prakash's blog (http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/weblogs?blog=/pub/wlg/1515). My doubt is where exactly the attributes are created? and can any one guide how to create the attributes in .cc.xml file. And how does public void run( String id, Properties properties ) it works?
The application was successfully deployed. I am able to see my task under System Administration->System Configuration->Knowledge Management->Configuration->Content Management->Global Services->Scheduler Tasks.  but I think it is not running. Can any one give some clue on this. As i'm not finding any thing uder Kmcontent>Documents.
Do i need to configure anything to run KM scheduler Task?
    Thanks and Regards,
    JAGAN.

    Hi Jagan,
The status "0" for your task in "Component Monitor" is fine.
Navigate to System Administration> System Configuration>Service Configuration. You can see here Applications and Portal runtime.
Open Applications--> and you Task. Right click on your task folder and say Administrate. Here you check whether your task has been stopped, running. Make sure its running. ( Try refresh, if its already running ).
In you task folder, you will see "Service Folder"  under this, you will see "RFServiceWrapper", right click on it and say configure, make sure the values are like shown below:
    Name : http://sapportals.com/xmlns/cm/sch
    Value: Value1
Also make sure in your portalapp.xml, the values are same:
    RFServiceWrapper
    service-config
    className= com.sap.netweaver.rf.wrapper.RFServiceWrapper
    startup= true
    service-profile
    Name= = http://sapportals.com/xmlns/sch
    Prof= Value1
You see tha the same name is used "Value1" in RFServiceWrapper both in portalapp.xml and in Service Configuration.
You can use any other name but the it should be same in both the places.
Make all these changes, and then restart your task in Service configuration again. Any changes in portalappl.xml, restart is necessary.
    Kind Regards,
    Poornima

I am using the SP16 Developer studio to create the scheduler task. There is nothing in the scheduler task just a log message. Still this fails. Is this a bug or I am missing something here.
I would really appreciate any help in this regards.
    Thanks

    Hi,
just a guess - do you have your Description field filled in your CM configuration for task? From the trace it seems it could not read the property DESCRIPTION from the Cm configuration.
    Just check it...

  • Office 2013 C2R Update Scheduled Task does not work

    Hi all.
I am having difficulty getting network deployed updates to work correctly. I installed and older version of Office 2013 with the ODT from a network share and set the update path. I then downloaded an update via ODT.
The issue is the scheduled task does not update office. If I trigger or manually run from a command prompt "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office 15\ClientX64\integratedoffice.exe RUNMODE RERUNMODE modetorun updatedetection modeargs reschedulemode tasktrigger
scheduledtask updateuitype background” from Task Scheduler nothing seems to happen. Monitoring Task Manager it looks like integratedoffice is called albeit very briefly.
But, if I run "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office 15\ClientX64\integratedoffice.exe RUNMODE RERUNMODE modetorun updatedetection background” from a command prompt Office updates, but if I edit the Scheduled Task to above Office does not update if the
    task is triggered.
As Office can update if the right command is given it would appear that my config.xml etc is correct. Any ideas on why the Scheduled Task does not work?
    Cheers
    Jakes

What permissions are set on the location of the updates ? C2R currently needs permissions granted for machine accounts as it runs under that context. This will change at some point that C2R gets updated.

  • Monitoring of Task

What is the functionality of Monitoring of Task. Does a window pop up as reminder at the completion of Task.

You can create automatic monitoring of tasks for all HR activities that have follow-up activities in the Monitoring of Tasks infotype (0019). Depending on the selected task type, the system proposes a date on which you will be reminded of the stored tasks. This enables you to implement the follow-up activities on schedule.
    Task
The standard system contains the following task types as subtypes:
    Expiry of probation
    Temporary contract
    Pay scale jump
    Work permit
    Severe challenge
    Training period
    Dismissal protection
    Expiry of inactive contract
    Expiry of temporary contract
    Personal interview
    Vaccination date
    End of maternity protection
    End of maternity leave
    Start of maternity protection
    Follow-up medical
    Submit SI statement
    Submit AHV-ID
    Prior attachment
    Next appraisal
    Work permit expires
    End of leave of absence
The reminder date is the date on which you went to be reminded of the task.
This reminder date can be determined in two ways:
You can enter the reminder date directly.
If the operation indicator for the relevant task type has the value Blank or - (Minus) in Customizing, then the reminder date cannot fall after the actual task.
If the operation indicator has the value + (Plus), then the reminder date cannot fall before the task.
The system suggests a default date independently of the task type. This date can be overwritten at any time.

    Hi,

if the field contains very large data then yes, defining the target field in Oracle as a CLOB will solve your issue.

  • OIM - Scheduled Tasks - Validade/Enable

    Hi All,
I am quite new to OIM, two days working with it, and I have some questions that seem to be easy to answer but I could not find it here, neither on the internet (or I am not using the correct keywords).
In our OIM environment we have some custom recon scheduled tasks, developed by oracle, and, as our internal processes with the targets are not working properly still, sometimes the scheduled tasks fail and when they fail they got disabled too. Most of the times they fail is because its input file, a CSV file coming from a target, is not there.
Based on it, my questions are:
    1. I know there is a way to list all scheduled tasks and their status using the API, check this link: http://www.rameshgk.com/blog/2010/09/23/oim-scheduled-task-for-monitoring-other-scheduled-tasks/, but is there a way to do it by command line in Unix?
    2. Is there a way, when the schedulted tasks got disabled due to a failure, to enable it automatically, via API or any other method, without the need to go to web client?
I was forgetting to comment one thing, unfortunately, I don't have access to the OIM database!
    Thanks for your attention!
    Regards.

You can execute the scheduled task from the command line and use the following API:
    void updateScheduleTask(long scheduledTaskKey,
    java.util.Map attributes)
    throws Thor.API.Exceptions.tcAPIException,
    Thor.API.Exceptions.tcScheduledTaskNotFoundException,
    Thor.API.Exceptions.tcInvalidAttributeException,
    Thor.API.Exceptions.tcAttributeMissingException,
tcAPIExceptionUpdates schedule task information based on the attribute that are passed to this method
    Parameters:
scheduledTaskKey - the scheduled task key
attributes - a map of updated attributes valid attributes
    •Task Scheduler.ClassName
    •Task Scheduler.Disable
    •Task Scheduler.Frequency Type
    •Task Scheduler.Interval
    •Task Scheduler.Key
    •Task Scheduler.Last Start Time
    •Task Scheduler.Last Stop Time
    •Task Scheduler.Max Retries
    •Task Scheduler.Name
    •Task Scheduler.Next Start Time
    •Task Scheduler.Retry Count
    •Task Scheduler.Start Time
    •Task Scheduler.Status
You can provide the Frequency Type and Next Start Time and then it should be picked up. Just like when you are in the design console and you have it set to run once and you clear the entries in the time and set it to the current one.

  • What permissions are required to see scheduled tasks on a remote server using SCHTASKS /S {server}?

When I attempt to run SCHTASKS /S {server} some servers return:
    ERROR: Access is denied.
On servers where I am a member of the local Administrators group I can run this command successfully. There are many servers where it is not appropriate for me to be a local Administrator but would be fine for me to monitor the status of scheduled tasks
    on the server.
What permissions need to be granted to me to see the scheduled tasks and not be a local administrator? Is this even possible?
    Thanks,
    Matthew

    Hi Matthew,
Based on my research, any user can schedule a task on the
local computer and they can view and change the tasks that they scheduled; however, to schedule, view, or change a task on a
remote computer, we must be member of the Administrators group on the remote computer.
    Therefore,
What permissions need to be granted to me to see the scheduled tasks and not be a local administrator? Is this even possible
    It is not possible.

  • Last Run Result Email Alert from Scheduled Task

    Hi All,
Ive a newly require need to move 3 files from a local server to a remote server via FTP each evening.
Local server is a Server 2008 box.
I have setup WinSCP to transfer the files over successfully via a Scheduled Task
    Now i need alerting!!
Ive setup the email function in Task Scheduler and it does send me an email but a pretty pointless one at that as it doesn't tell you the Last Run Result status code.
So all i know is the job has run but i don't know if with errors etc.
Each morning ill have to FTP to the remote server and manually check the time and date stamps myself to make sure the copy was successful.
Ive checked the event log and it writes an Event ID 201 to the Task Scheduler Event Log and that has all the info i need in the description, but i cant attach that event to my scheduled task as there are lots of 201's for all different scheduled tasks that
    run that by the OS.
Anybody know how i can get the last Run Result in the body of the email or the subject line at least - so i know if it is a 0x0 the job has been successul and anything other than 0x0 that there has been a problem.
    Any suggestions?

  • DB13 scheduled tasks not appear

    Hi people,
I´ve connected an external Oracle databases, and I´ve scheduled some maintenance tasks.
During on time, the finished and scheduled tasks appears in the DB13, but I´ve seen that the scheduled tasks off external databases not appear, but the time if scheduled tasks has passed, the tasks it´s correctly finished and appears.
The problem is that the scheduled tasks cannot edit them, because not appears in the calendar, only when they´ve finished.
    What can i do?

    >> Regarding Note 6 in Note1025707, this is for if both systems are on the same server, for example, a server has AS ABAP CEN with DBA Cockpit and has AS Java JAV. Is this your situation? The Oracle DB for the separate AS Java would still be considered "remote" in this case. I do not have experience with this situation.
For the instance, if the installation is a SAP Portal system, it is evaluated by a remote database, when you are attached it to a central monitoring system. For example you have two or more SAP installations even on a same physical host attached to the central monitoring system, those systems are evaluated as remote systems. This is because central monitoring system should be connected to these systems by remote.
I hope that I clarified the issue.

  • SSIS Package with Scheduled Task

    Hi there,
We have on a SQL-Server some SSIS Packages which refers to Navision. If I start the job manually directly in Navision, it works fine. If I start the Job in MSSQL manually (SQL Server Agent --> Jobs --> 'MyJobPackage' --> Start Job at Setp) or through
the Job Activity Monitor ('MyJobPackage' --> Start Job at Step) it works also fine without any problems. But if the Job starts automatically (Scheduled Job in MSSQL) it will never end. So the Job is running endless. Now, we thought we could try to start
this SQL Job with a Scheduled Task in Windows. So I created a cmd-File with the following line:
    dtexec /f "E:\SSIS Schnittstelle\TEST_Navision2XAPF\Navision2X.APF\bin\EGHU.dtsx" /De MyPassword
And then I get this errors:
    C:\Users\exprma\Desktop>dtexec /f "E:\SSIS Schnittstelle\TEST_Navision2XAPF\Navision2X.APF\bin\EGHU.dtsx" /De MyPassword

    Regards
    ÖFES

    Hi Öfes,
Based on the error message when executing the package from batch file and the solution provided by Visakh, we can conclude that the package uses 32-bit ODBC drivers. Now let’s go back to the original SQL Server Agent job issue. Since you can run the job
manually from SSMS, the package should run in 32-bit SSIS runtime mode, e.g. the “Use 32 bit runtime” option should be checked for the package executions with in the job step. In this case, SSIS automatically uses the 32-bit DTExec utility, therefore, we don’t
need to specify the 32-bit DTExec utility in the command line for the job step.
Based on the current information, the issue may occur due to two possible factors:
The Dimension component in the package uses User DSN rather than System DSN.
The user account under which the job runs doesn’t have sufficient permissions to execute the package.
So, please try the following steps:
Open the C:\Windows\SysWOW646\odbcad32.exe, and make sure the DSN is a System DSN which can be accessed by any user on the server.
Create a new SQL Server Agent proxy account which has sufficient permissions to execute the package, for example, the user account that you execute the job manually from SSMS.
