Monitoring search errors in ALUI 6.1
Hi all ...
Our installation of ALUI 6.1 is experiencing some issues with the stability of the search service on a Win2003 server. Most of the time it's okay but on occasions the search status reports various errors such as "file_rename_failed" etc.. the search is still available but after a while search starts to fail and we need to run an examinarchive command line to recover.
This works and we can carry on as we were. The problem is that this relies on someone manually monitoring the status for when errors occur and it's not very practical. What we'd like to do is set up some sort of alert so the support team can be notified when errors first start to occur rather than when users start phoning in with complaints.
We can monitor the service tomake sure it is still up but the problem with this is that the search service can still show up as being running ok under service manager while these errors are occuring.
What I'm wondering is has anyone implemented a way of automating the monitoring of such search service errors so pre-emptive action can be taken at the first sign of trouble?
thanks in adcance
Simon
Some customers setup monitors using a 3rd party tool such as HP Sitescope that would monitor the log file, but this would be a larger effort and cost. You could write a script to do this as well, but I would recommend finding the root cause of the errors. It is not normal for this error to occur.
Be sure to take regular search checkpoints to ensure you can quickly restore if you need to. How often does this occur? Are you sure that antivirus or backup software on the server is not locking any files in the search folder?

How to monitor Spool errors/Spool request in CCMS
Hi @ all,
I have configured our Solution Manager system to monitor the spool system in the CCMS environment. However I also want to monitor spool errors/spool request in the *CCMS. I have already search in SDN for a solution but couldn´t find any. Do you have any idea how I could monitor the spool errors in CCMS (like in the transaction SP01) ?
Kind regards
ThomasHi

SharePoint 2010 Search Error: "Internal server error exception"
Hi,
We have a SharePoint 2010 Farm with 5 servers:
1 SQL Server Cluster
2 WFE
1 Index Server
1 Search Server
Please see bellow a more detailed specification. Our DNS is using a Load Balancer
It turns out that when it uses one WFE (SERVWFE05) it throws this error:
SharePoint 2010 Search Error: "Internal server error exception"
when it uses the other one (SERVWFE06) it works.
What can be wrong?

Moved recently and Gateway 3250S, reconnected monitor input error showed up on monitor. Computer doctor did virtual diagnostic and said it was the graphics card. Plus fan wasn't working. Sent specs to purchase return hp Pavilion 6000 pro.MXLO180WRK. Bought & set up the desktop yesterday 7/9/15 with appropriate chords. Turned monitor first, then cpu. Received same error message: Monitor input error. Monitor going to sleep. As per where I bought computer switched out chords and monitors. Still same error. Where purchased hp suggested I bring everything in and they'll do a diagnostic. That involves renting a car & finding the time.
The standard Blue & White G3 has a 15-pin 3-row connector that connects to most third-party monitors. So cable adapters should not be the issue here.
There are two places that hold onto the screen resolution. The first is the PRAM, backed up by the PRAM backup/clock battery. If you have had a power failure or pulled the main power plug, and are now having this trouble, that battery is the prime suspect. I suggest you open the side door on the Mac, find the tiny button nearest the battery, and press and hold it for a quarter minute. then allow at least 5 seconds to pass before you attempt to power up. If the symptoms change, consider replacing the battery.
The other place the display resolution is stored is in a Preference file. To accommodate an environment with multiple users on multiple computers, the display setting used after you log in is stored in:
Hard Drive / Users / your_id / Library / Preferences / By Host / com.apple.preference.displays.yourHWAddress.plist
If you can boot to a different software source such as a System CD, you can both bypass the bad value stored in that preference file and gain access to that preference file to move it to another location (which will inactivate it). -
Is there any list with all possible Ultra Search Error Messages?
Hi,
I was using dbca to create a database after installing R12. Errored out with "ORA-20000: Oracle Ultra Search error" after running 71%. It prompts me "Ignore" or "Abort". Why you run DBCA to create a database after installing R12? Rapid Install 11i/R12 will install the database for you and you do not have to do so manually.
I checked one of the log files "cloneDBCreation", there is an error ORA-01109: database not open. What should I do?If the above is not valid, please check the database log file for details why the database was not created successfully.

Every time I do a file search (on the working set or the workspace) for a string, I get some results,
but the search seems to terminate early when it hits certain files it thinks are "out of sync."
I have checked such files and they have not been modified. The error I get is a mostly empty dialog
that says "File Search (Error: problems encountered during text search.) If I click on the message
(in the "example" application in this case), I get:
Problems encountered during text search.
Resource is out of sync with the file system: /example/WEB-INF/database.xml
Resource is out of sync with the file system: /example/WEB-INF/.nitrox.hotdeploy
All I want is the assurance that when I do a search, the results will be complete. How do I
fix this? I am running the standalone preview-329 under Windows XP with no additional plugins
to the eclipse 3.0.0 that ships with the release.
BenThanks Omar Alonso
I will go through it.

Hi,

Please advise.
Thanks & Regards,
ShobhitHi Shobhit,
There are two types ports being used
1. J2EE Port usally 50000
2. HTTP Port usally 8000
u can check the same using transaction SMICM->Shift+F1
>>1) In the RFC Dest INTEGRATION_DIRECTORY_HMI, what port shall I use. I am using 50000 (xi start page port). But somewhere I saw '8000'. Also im using user 'XIISUSER'.
Use J2EE Port (from ID URL)
2) in the SLD->Business System->Integration Server->What port shall I use. I am using '8000' here.
Use HTTP Port (from SMICM)
3) in SICF, sap->bc->ping service is tested as per the document. But should it be left activated too?
I checked this in my system it is not activated.
4) in SICF, sap->xi->cache. The anonymous logon data is empty. Is it all right?
I checked this in my system it is blank.
5) On going to the link: http://xi:5000/CPACache/refresh?mode=full , it asks for useid/pwd but is not accepting any of the uid/pwds and gives error: You are not authorized to view the requested resource.
I think you need to use XIDIRUSER for this..
hope this helps..

DTP - Monitor Entry - Error PSA
I have a routine in a transformation to create a monitor entry if a certain field errors out.
I still want all valid records to be updated in the DSO, but just want to show that there was a failure.
If I use the setting "Valid Records Update, Reporting Possible (Request Green), then the DTP loads to the DSO with a request status of Green, writes the errors to the error stack, but does not show any warnings or labels stating there are error PSA.
If I use the setting "Valid Records Update, No Reporting (Request Red), then the monitor will create an entry stating the error, will add the errors to the error stack, but will not set the request status to Green to allow activation.
How can I determine if there are errors (below a certain threshold set in error handling), yet still set the DSO Request status to green (similar to 3.5 error handling, allowing valid records to update, but showing in the monitor that there are error PSA)?
edit
Routine is:
*selecting SAP User ID from PEMP_105 into 0TCTUSERNM (USER).
select single /BIC/PUSERID into RESULT
FROM /BIC/PPEMP_105
WHERE /BIC/PEMP_105 = SOURCE_FIELDS-PERNR.
*This will create a monitor entry/error PSA for any records that are not
*present in PEMP_105.
IF RESULT IS INITIAL.
MONITOR_REC-MSGID = 'RSM'.
MONITOR_REC-MSGTY = 'E'.
MONITOR_REC-MSGNO = '799'.
MONITOR_REC-MSGV1 = 'No User ID present in PEMP_105 for Employee'.
MONITOR_REC-MSGV2 = SOURCE_FIELDS-PERNR.
APPEND MONITOR_REC to MONITOR.
to skip a record
raise exception type CX_RSROUT_SKIP_RECORD.
ENDIF.
Edited by: Cote Adams on Apr 2, 2008 11:52 PMYour guess is correct, but I don't want to have Operations have to look at the error stack every night to determine if there is an error. I want there to be a symbol or entry in the monitor to tell them there is an error. Just like 3.5, when there are errors (less than the max number of errors), the valid records pass, but the monitor status shows a different symbol.

Hi,
I have SharePoint Foundation 2010 running on a single server with databases, with a second server in the farm serving as a 2nd app tier. Both server have the exact same versions of SharePoint loaded (according to the Central Admin site).
Whenever I try to run a search from any site in my SharePoint Foundation 2010 installation (in this example I typed "this is my query"), it hangs for 20-30 seconds while the IE status bar says:
Waiting for http://SERVER2010:80/tfs/SITE1/_layouts/searchresults.aspx?k=this%20is%20my%20query&u=http%3A%2F%2Ftfs2010db%2Ftfs%2FSITE1
Then it finally returns a results screen with an error that says: "Your search cannot be completed because of a service error. Try your search again or contact your administrator for more information."
Checking the SharePoint logs under C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Web Server Extensions\14\LOGS, the relevant entries say the following (items I deem important

Not sure what "resource limit is reached" actually means. This SharePoint installation is running under regular SQL 2008 R2, and the
WSS_Content database is fairly small (10gig). I've reviewed the Search Service, the process account running it, the
WSS_SEARCH index database, and verified that the Content database is using the proper index database. Everything looks like it should be crawling/indexing/working fine. But the WSS_SEARCH
database isn't very large, so I'm not sure if the crawling is actually filling it with anything.
Not sure where to start seriously troubleshooting this. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.Hi,
The query ran in tens of seconds. This indicates that at some point a bad plan compiled and stayed in the cache.
It may have gotten there because the statistics were out of date.
A possible way to keep this from happening is to rebuild statistics with full scan more frequently.
Try free the proc cache and see the result.

Hi All,
I'm getting the below error in My SHarepoint 2013 search Administration page.
Crawler background activity - The search application 'Search Service Application 1' on server "" is not provisioned. Confirm that the Microsoft SharePoint Foundation Timer service and Central Administration service are running
on the server.
and when i click on Crawl Log and content source
it throws the below error
The search service is currently offline. Visit the Services on Server page in SharePoint Central Administration to verify whether
the service is enabled. This might also be because an indexer move is in progress
When i check the search status
Get-SPEnterpriseSearchServiceInstance, it shows all the components are online.
As of now search service application is online and search is working. But not sure why it throws the above error.
I have restarted timer service, search service in services.msc and cleared the sharepoint cache as well.
But no luck,This is happening in my prodcution environment.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
There are the logs i have found

I got the correlation ID and upon checking this was the error that I got.Hi Cally,
As I understand, you encountered the issue when you accessed Search Service Application.
Did you install any updates recently? Does it work before? Could you find more related error message?
Please go to CA > Application Management > Manage service on this server, restart search service. Then go to Services.exe on the SharePoint machine, and restart SharePoint 2010 Timer and SharePoint Sever Search 14 services.
In addition, here is an article with similar issue for your reference:

Strang problem when searching error message in Adapter Engine
Hi all,
In RWB message monitoring, I tried to search all the error messages for yesterday and got no results. But I know there were actually several error messages for yesterday because I got several alert mails.
Then I went to my mail box and copy the message id and used it to search again. Then I found this message was exactlly in "System Error". But if I search all the error messages for yesterday, I get no results.
Anyone knows the problem?
Regards,
HuiHello Hui Wang,
<b>Adapter engine resides on Java stack and u view sxmb_moni on the ABAP stack which displays only Integration Server related errors.</b>
Message that passes the Integration pipeline are visible in sxmb_moni. Errors related to CC can be traced in CC monitoring or adapter monitoring in RWB.
