hello
i have database Oracle9i on Redhat 4 Linux and
looking for real time monitoring the data server
24/7
which software i need for that task?As suggested, OEM Grid Control is created by Oracle to manage Database designed by Oracle. It's not surprising to find out many DBAs are using it.
Of course at your discretion, you could choose third party software like Quest and others.
also i am looking for that software which give me the
availability to increase performance and following up
backup
thank youNo software can give your ability to increase database performance. That ability is developed over the course of many years working experience and training as DBA.

  • How to monitor the database growth?

    Dear All,
How to monitor the database growth in SAP.
Is there any t.code available to check the same.
    advance thanks,
    Sundar  C
Note: suitable answers will get maximum reward points.

    Hai,
You can check the database growth using tcode -db02.
and also use tcode-db02old(if the SAP is Netweaver2004s version)  and click on space statistics for monitoring the datbase growth,
    Thanks and Regards,

  • APEX DBA role to monitor the database, is there a workaround?

I have a developer who wishes to access the database monitor for performance monitoring, but I do not wish to give him DBA privileges. Is apex looking for the DBA role explicitly?

I am trying to avoid having to perform a daily manual process (I monitor about a dozen email accounts - not all of them from ISP's with the 60 day deletion window).  The ISP's 60 day deletion window is rolling - each day different existing messages are about to reach the threshold.  I don't want to mark messages as Read for all messages, just those that are about to be 60 days old.  I know that I can do this by creating a smart mailbox that only has messages that are 59 days old, select all of the smart mailbox messages and then right-click and "Mark as Read", but this would have to be a daily, manual process.

  • Monitoring the Database -Oracle

    Hi,
    I am not a Database guy at all..but I need to ;
    1. Create a user on SAP to monitor the oracle DB
So Do I create the user on 000 client or..where ?
    2. What are the noramal, minimal authrorizations thats needed in this regard ?
    Thanks

    Hello George,
As Markus suggested, you should check the monitoring link first.
If you would like to get into the act as early as possible you can jump to this :
To start the monitor you choose Administration ® CCMS ® Control/Monitoring ®Performance Menu ® Database ® Activity.
Alternatively, you can use transaction st04n.
You can check this in detail at :

  • Connecting Access Databases remotely?

    Currently:
Currently I have a Java application which performs all I wanted and the limitation in it is "It only resides on the Local machine for which it needs to work". I have the Microsoft Access Databases located on a Remote Server and I install the Java app on the remote server to connect the databases using a connectionString "jdbc:odbc:DRIVER={Microsoft Access Driver (*.mdb)}; DBQ=D:\DATA\DPPI\DATA\DPPI\DPPIPR01.mdb"; It connects to Access Databases and do all the bussiness logics with them.
    Enhancements (to be done):
    1. Making the application online - not a big issue.
    2. Connecting the databases remotely - its the only concern.
So, if I make the Application Online the Access Databases need to be connecting through network (somewhat like ip or some web address).
    Problem:
But after going through this http://stackoverflow.com/questions/11388277/connect-to-access-database-remotely, it seems my requirement can not be completed.
Is there any way if I'm able to upload the database to the online web hosting server and access the database from there only? If yes, then how should I do the connectivity since Access Database connects by giving the fully qualified name containing drive letter and all. But how should I proceed further so that I may be able to connect the mdb Databases remotely?
    ADO .Net Solution:
    After going through the link:
http://webcheatsheet.com/ASP/access_connection_strings.php , it seems we can perform remote Access Database connectivity.
The solution for the ADO is something like:
    connectionString="Provider=MS Remote; Remote Server=http://your_remote_server_ip;" &_ "Remote Provider=Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0; Data Source=c:\your_database_name.mdb"
I'm a tad confused to how Access Database we can connect.
    EDIT
There is one more question in my head.
I'm making use of Type-1 Driver. By making use of Type-4 Driver like HXTT Access(http://www.hxtt.com/access.html), a commercial type 4 driver for MS Access, supports it. But is there any open source Type-4 Driver like this?

Thanks for your responses guys. It seems I'm heading in a right direction (but can't completely say as I would also like to be concerned about the performance issues.)
For the time being I would like to consider this approach until it is fully confirmed.
Please let me know if I'm proceeding in a right way? (developed a webservice using Jax-ws testing application)
         1. I wrote a Jax-ws webservice published and tested on the localhost - its returning the response (tested using Soap-Ui).
So, I would like to have the same application to be acting as a Server to be deployed on the Server housing the Microsoft Access Databases. It would connect the database and return the result to be consumed from Client.
         2. From the other end I opened the Soap-Ui such that I edited the Endpoint like: (this call would be actually made from the Online Application)
Previous End point of the Wsdl- http://localhost:8080/myService/services/Invoker - tried and tested
Edited End point of the Wsdl for testing - http://remoteIp:8080/myService/services/Invoker
              I got the Error stating:
                                            ERROR:org.apache.http.conn.HttpHostConnectException: Connection to http://192.168.1.6:8080 refused.
Please let me know what I'm doing wrong or is there a special requirements for calling the services remotely?
    EDIT
I took the IP address by executing ipconfig.

  • Remote Desktop Licensing Role - Rebuild the Database?

My server is failing, so i want to rebuild the database. I have already installed the Remote Desktop Licensing Role. Should I rebuid from the Remote Desktop Licensing Manager or use the Add-RDLicense cmdlet?

    Hi Andrew,
Thank you for posting in Windows Server Forum.
It depends on your requirement, you can check the following link for useful information.

  • The Remote Desktop Connection Broker server could not enumerate the targets for the provider named NULL from the database.

When I try to install Connection Broker on a Windows 2012 R2 Server in a Windows 2003 domain I get this error:
The Remote Desktop Connection Broker server could not enumerate the targets for the provider named NULL from the database.
Pooled virtual desktop collection name: NULL
Error: Logon to the database failed.
I have added both the Connection Broker server and the 2 remote desktop servers (also Windows 2012 R2 Servers) to the "Windows Authorization Access Group" in the domain according to this: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/331951
But it still does not work :-(
    I keep getting same error....
Any idea what I might be missing ?

    Hi,
Thank you for posting in Windows Server Forum.
Firstly please let us know by which method you have setup RDS role. You can have more advantage and feature when you will install with Standard deployment instead of Quick start deployment. So if you have setup with quick start option then you can try installing
with standard type and check the result.
In addition, please check SQL server database is properly configured for RDS server. Also check that domain controller properly communicates. Kindly go through below thread for more information.

Desktop Connection Broker Client failed to redirect the user domain\username. Error: NULL

  • Monitoring/debug the database connection process

    Hi,
I am trying to define a new database connection using the JDBC-ODBC Bridge (trying to connect to a legacy apps), and keep getting an error message from the ODBC driver manager, which work perfectly fine outside the JDev environment.
Is there a way for me to monitor/debug the database connection process, prior to a successful test connection, in order for me to find out exactly where/what the problem is?
    Thanks for the help,

  • How to configure the database monitoring (DBA Cockpit) after Support pack

    Hi,
I did the Support Pack Upgrade for BW system and i ran SGEN as well, now i need to configure the database , could you please suggest how to configure the database monitoring (DBA Cockpit) after Support Pack Upgrade.
Server is MSSQL , Component is SAP NetWeaver 2004s and OS is Windows NT.
    Plesae suggest.
    Chandu.

    Hi,
You are right. SAP delivers this functionality from SP-12. So when you have applied the SP-12, you must have done these config steps to enable the DBA Cockpit.
If you have done these steps earlier, So you must have DBA Cockpit enable right now and putting extra SPs like 13, 14 and so on, should not be a matter.
Now if you have not performed those config steps before, Please do them now and you will be able to use DBA cockpit.
Please understand that SP12 is the base to run DBA Cockpit.

  • How to monitor the success of database shutdown command

Sometimes , the "shutdown immediate" command can fail on one of our databases. We want to monitor the success of the shutdown command. If it fails, then we will issue a "shutdown abort" command. My question is: how can I monitor the success of database shutdown command?
    sqlplus / as sysdba <<EOF
    shutdown immediate
    EOF
    if failed ???? ;then
    sqlplus / as sysdba <<EOF
    shutdown abort
    EOF
Thanks in advance for your help!

No version, no platform. How do you expect help?
    And what does 'fail' mean?
    A few remarks:
You can have sqlplus error out to the O/S by using whenever sqlerror exit failure
Shutdown immediate usually doesn't fail but just doesn't complete.
One would usually monitor the alert log as to check what is going on, and issue the shutdown abort in a different session.

  • How to monitor the update of database in Java

    The situation:
if the database on the server side is updated, i need to dump the changed files to the client side immediately.
    my question:
if only a table is changed, how can i know the specific table in the database immediately?
    thank you.

if the database on the server side is updated, i need to dump the changed files to the client side immediately.Changed files? Hopefully you are not talking about the database files. If so then you would have to lock the database before do that.
There are only two ways that you can be notified. The database does it or you poll. If you poll you need an indicator of some sort to indicate that an update has occurred like a record count or a field with a timestampt. The record count is risky because it presumes records will never be deleted.
The database side solution is to add a trigger that sends a notification to you. The type of possible notifications depends on the database. A mixed mode solution is possible with this as the trigger can add a update record to a specific table which your app is polling on.
Polling/triggers are expensive operations. They should never be used in situations where multiple clients are notified. Instead snapshots should be used.
